I'm done, quality of games made me quit.

Dear @Chips_uk, the two statements you quoted above are harsh. Some may find them offensive, I don't. I 'm too old to find words offensive and I have a thick skin. I can word both statements in a nice, eloquent and discreet manner. But it would be exactly the same meaning. Come on. Indulge me and follow up here. Statement No 1: I would not advise any player with less than 2,000 battles in Random to play TX. How about this? Not offensive. I am sure you will agree. But there is no difference with "you shouldn't play this tier because". And it is a very sound advise. TX has very powerful ships and every mistake is punished at once. You get out of position and you will not have the time to retreat and you will be sunk at once. You will last three minutes in the game. That is not good for you or me who sunk you. It is not good for the game. (take also in consideration that TX is far more complex due to the huge number of gimmicks, that oblige any player to have a rather extensive knowledge of all little thingies ships have so they can adjust accordingly their play). Fact of the matter is that a novice player that rushes to TX will not learn how to play because they will be out of the game very fast. On the contrary lower tiers are more forgiving. A mistake is not punished at once. You live to play a bit longer and learn from your errors. Also, less gimmicks. How about TV. No radars and short range hydros on few ships. Less complexity that allows a novice player to actually get introduced step by step into the various elements of the game. Think about it. Statement No. 2: Novice players with very little playing experience (also lacking the knowledge of basic game mechanics) actually make the game disagreeable for seasoned players and create a negative in game experience. How does this sound. Polite and to the point. Yet it is the same with "it's people like you that make others quit". In this respect I think we can both agree that the statements you quoted are not vile, toxic or bullying. You can say they are harsh or blunt or whatever but they are TRUE. If truth is toxic then...I m sorry we have no grounds for a discussion. Absolutely true. And I am entitled and have the right to stick a paper clip in the power outlet or take the hair dryer in the bathtub regardless of whether I bought it or it was gifted to me. That's why we have the Darwin awards. There is no law forbidding a player to play TX no matter what. Similarly there is no law forbidding farting and burping in public. And we can all agree that it is your right to do so. I am afraid though that you will be kicked out of any respectable establishment if you do so. Why? It is your right, isn't it? Unfortunately, (in both cases) you are negatively affecting others. That's why. I could say that I don't give a flying rat's posterior if you enjoy the game or not. But I would be lying. On the contrary I want you to enjoy the game and learn how to play well. I am not magnanimous. I am selfish. I want the game to grow. I want you to stick around. I want you here. Because I love this game. Here I will bluntly say that you are patently wrong. Let me show you what good (or above average) players do when their team is full of inexperienced players or bad players. Dear @Chips_uk, I think I made a few things clear. I sincerely hope you will reconsider your position. Regards Saltface

I'm done, quality of games made me quit.

First of all you don't need my permission for anything. I think I was absolutely clear when I suggested to stay in low tiers until you get more experience. However, I doubt you will get the best out of the game if you rush the tiers. Your learning curve will have a small slope upwards if it does at all. I know because I did the same mistake. What you do is your decision and yours alone. Uhmmmm....no. Maybe he was rough around the edges but what he said was sound. But as I said above it is your choice. I will wholeheartedly suggest to ask for help on the forum. You will be surprised how helpful and effective it is. I think it is the only way to really learn how to play the game. Post replays of your battles and let the forumites be "mean" and rip them apart. By recognizing your errors you will be better and better every next battle. oh come on now..... Just a last note, no one here is bullying you. But you will make no friends being so defensive. Regards Saltface

I'm done, quality of games made me quit.

Here is the point. He is not dictating, he is suggesting. And he knows how to play the game. A suggestion by someone ( @ForlornSailor) who knows what he is talking about is valuable. Considering advice a part of the problem (for some egotistical reason that eludes me) is not the way to go. Dear @Thundercracker_3, you said you sold the Haida. Because she is a bad ship or you couldn’t make her work. Well, I m not surprised. She is a high skill ship. And she wins more than 51% of her battles. With all due respect I will say that you don’t have yet the experience to evaluate properly what is or what isn’t a good ship. Either we like it or not WoWs is a complex game and it takes time to learn and perform well. The key is to listen to other more experienced players. Considering them a pert of the problem is childish. I urge you to reconsider. Who knows, you might get better results. You also stated you play for fun. I agree. I also play for fun. But, correct me if I m wrong, this is a competitive game. Winning is the target. Do you have fun losing? And, why one should be inconsiderate and disregard all the other players that wish to win and not try to play better? One more thing. If you publish in this forum your opinion you will be answered to. If your opinion has merit it will be well received. If your opinion is lacking in logic or content it will be badly received. Telling someone to stop answering to you is a tad totalitarian. Isn’t it? Well, maybe not if you like being in an echo chamber and getting your ears and ego caressed. My advice ( not a dictum ) is to stay in low to mid tiers until you get the necessary experience to move to higher tiers. I can assure you that there is no fun in getting in games and being blapped in three minutes. Nor you will ever learn anything that way. 600 random battles are very few to justify a T7 destroyer. You only have 7 battles all with Haida. Not surprising that you failed to make her work. Come on now. Go back to T4 and learn destroyer play. Destroyers are now the most high skill threshold class. World of Warships - Roll the Dice

Caro, the Italian government has been elected by the people. The fact that several of your compatriots abstained from the electoral process does not ilegitimize the government. It simply proves the point that when you let decisions you should make to be made by others for you you will get the short stick. Un abbraccio Saltface

World of Warships - Roll the Dice

Dear All, and dear @Oely001, @CrniVrag, @Bellegar, @The_Reichtangle There are two issues here. First and foremost in terms of importance is the exposure to gambling practices of children and young adults. I will agree with all of you that it is not a good practice. I am also a father of two (18 and 21). However, our children are exposed daily to the notion of gambling. Lottery tickets, raffle draws, betting etc. They are heavily advertised and betting companies sponsor most of the athletic venues that our kids frequent. My son (18 yo) was a semi pro soccer player until he switched to extreme sports. Betting companies were all over the place. Most people in the coffee shop of the sports club he used to train and play for were talking about bets all the time. The exposure was significant. The fact that betting is regulated is not significant here. Regulated or not they have been exposed to it. And even worse they witnessed adults doing it and by inference betting and gambling is legitimized in their brains since the grown ups (grown ups my posterior) are doing it. Regulation in my humble opinion will not help. Information, education and proper parenting will. (does law stop kids from doing drugs or getting wasted with alcohol? No. Parents, broader family, teachers, friends do help) It was said here that parents cannot control their kids and the content of their computers. It is true to an extent. My son for many years had all his computer games connected to my credit card. He could spend an agreed amount on his gaming - if he did not spend it any balance would go to his allowance. Some might say that I had no control. Truth is I had absolute control because the bank will send you an SMS or a mail indicating the expenditure. First wrong step and I would know. Well, provided that I was responsible enough to check what is going on and I was not an indifferent father. So, despite the fact that I absolutely agree with you that gambling is BAD for children (and adults) I will maintain my position that regulation is not the remedy. On the contrary I believe that it allows certain members of our society to divest from their responsibility and be lazy in properly executing their role as parents. It is my political and philosophical position that the state should stay away from peoples lives. If you want to drink your liver to cirrhosis be my guest. Just don't say that someone else is responsible for your drinking habit because alcohol is advertised and available in the super market or the bartender poured you one more drink when you asked for it. Second issue is what should be done in WoWs. I agree with all of you that loot boxes are a form of gambling. My proposal (look at my previous posts) is that it should be handled in the same way as alcohol and tobacco. You want to smoke? Smoke. You want to drink? Drink. But you have been informed of the hazards to your health and the responsibility is ALL YOURS. It has been made absolutely clear to you so if you smoke or drink you know what you are doing. Same here. You should be clearly informed that this is gambling. Your choice now. How on earth a child will have access to a credit or debit card? Oh yes. Because their parents gave them one. Who's fault is it? Let me go to the extreme a bit to better illustrate my point. Is eating too much bad for you? Yes. Your health deteriorates and you become fat. Is eating junk food bad? Yes it is. Is sugar bad? Yes it is. Are they a major danger. Yes they are. Heart attacks, strokes etc etc. We all know that we need to exercise and follow a healthy diet. Yet many of us are obese. And their health is in danger. And they most probably will live a shorter life. What should the state do? Regulate what we eat? I don't think anyone would agree. However, proponents of this way of handling the issue exist. And they propose that our diets should be regulated so we are healthy and vivid and and and....... For our own benefit....* No my friends. If you cannot zip it and eat good food then it is YOUR problem. It is not the State's business to tell you what to eat. Despite the fact that some foods are bad for you. My objection arises when we proclaim that the "players" need to be protected. No they don't. Minors should be under parental supervision and adults should be knowing what they are doing. For goodness sake. They can vote and elect a government and with their choice they can destroy a country by electing an idiot. The solution is personal responsibility, education and proper parenting. Regards Saltface P.S. As I have been trained in the fine art of trolling by my son ... I propose that we make "safe spaces" with "hugging and cuddling puppies" for all those players that got blapped and dev striked when sailing broadside so they can alleviate the stress and bad feelings.....poor souls they need protection.... * When they tell you that something is being done for your own good....run away.

World of Warships - Roll the Dice

The solution is to make public all the necessary info and advice so anyone can make an informed decision. Same as alcohol or tobacco. I thank you for your post and your disagreement. It is the basis for a proper debate. But I still maintain the opinion that we need no protection. We need to be responsible.

World of Warships - Roll the Dice

You are right. But, indulge me please. What is the role of Parents? Have they been substituted by the state?
  9. Saltface

World of Warships - Roll the Dice

I will not disagree with you. However, responsibility for minors rests with their parents. And yes, gambling is bad for minors (and to an extent for adults) but it is not the state that has to “protect” the citizens.

World of Warships - Roll the Dice

I have extensively debated this issue in other threads. In brief my opinion is that no one (including the government) should tell (dictate) how a free (thinking allegedly) citizen can spend their “hard earned” money. The hypocritical position of many governments on this issue is summarized as follows: You can vote at the age of 17 (and influence the lives of millions of your fellow country men e.g brexit) but you cannot spend your money (even for gambling) on whatever you want (and influence only your life and pocket) We have reached a point where people “need protection from their choices”. This is is the level we have descended to. We need to be protected.....from our selves. This is the nanny state I dread Next thing will be the dictation of what we think. Are loot boxes a gamble? Yes they are. Put up the info (same as for tobacco and alcohol) and let me make my choice. And bare responsibility. The stock market is the same.....oh....and I shouldn’t forget, legal gambling is allowed and taxed and...the casinos work with the odds in their favor (it is guaranteed that the player will lose at the end)....but...it’s legal (and taxed) LOL so, you can lose all your belongings with a ball that might fall on black or red but you need to be protected from loot boxes because you might get ten flags and not the ship you want....wow... People do not need protection in exchange for their rights and liberties. People know how to do things (not all) Let Darwin do his job if you can’t take care of your hard earned money and want to spend it stupidly you don’t deserve it anyway. alas...we have reached a point where people prefer not to take responsibility of their lives and prefer to be ruled and be given a safe space and a hugging bear to calm them down and make them feel good. Dont take me wrong here. I don’t claim that all is well done....but I prefer to be free to make mistakes than to be controlled by a nanny state in exchange for a security...of whatever they claim it secures me from have a nice day Salface

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance

@SvR1983 @GarrusBrutus and @Tyrendian89 do not try to bait you !! So much I can vouch for. Both are known to be of great help to anyone that asks for advise. And they have a great dislike (as I also do) for tin foil theories. Now, if you claim cheating is done (watch it because the forum is very sensitive on this) you need to provide evidence. Because (Hitchens' razor or Sagan Standard) any claim with no evidence can be discarded with no evidence. You should come to the Forum and post the replay. Without (EMPHASIS) claiming cheating. Just say e.g. "Guys, what happened at minute 3:15 ?" Then you will get a ton of educated answers, some wrong some bad, and if the feeling in general is that something fishy is going on you will be reading something like "better send it to WG something is wrong here" or you will get an answer like "this and this happened" and we all will be wiser and smarter. Now, you bring a claim that is not founded on concrete evidence. Just your word. And, trust me, I don't claim you are lying. Most witnesses are not lying but....as you should know eye witness testimonies are the most inaccurate ever. (Neil De Grasse Tyson) You need to provide something that is free from any bias or error. And that is the replay. So, please, stop making bad blood and unneeded confrontation and provide a replay or withdraw your claim until you gather proper hard data and evidence. Warm regards Saltface P.S. I learnt how to play by asking the Forum and posting my replays. Both gentlemen ripped me a new one when they reviewed my battles. But....not to deride me but to teach me. And they help everybody. Until that everybody person turns out to be a "insert derogatory term at will here" P.S. WoWs has a notoriously safe system from cheating. Not 100% proof but very safe. Everything happens on server side. So, hacking into their servers is not so easy. Let alone that none of us would like to have cheaters among us. So....I d bet that a more down to earth explanation would exist for what you claim, other than cheating...

Why are DD's so poor these days.

I have to admit that reading through this thread was a long read.Being a DD main I endured it. And as I am on vacation, reading long reads on the porch looking at the sea is a nice pass time. I don't claim that what was written above is trash. Some valid points have been made. But it all was as if looking through the keyhole. You only see a fraction of the reality. You see what you see clearly, but it is only a slice. Two more things I noticed: 1. "DD deride" (I m careful not to use the word "hate") threads pop up like mushrooms after the rain; 2. The New (after CVs) lets all blame them class is here. One round of applause for DDs and DD players. My opinion I think DDs (and DD players) are just like all the other classes. Equally good and equally bad. Equally stupid, potato, noob, just put your word of choice in. And it is always the same story. One class is being blamed for ruining the game. The experience. The feeling. The Fun. Before some time, it was the CVs and the CV players. Or, the BB border hugging camping don't scratch my paint BBs. Or the HE spamming Cruisers that hide behind an island and shoot from impunity. Now it is the suicidal noob potato idiot in a DD. What a cardinal difference. Before it was a class of ships that was cancerous. Now it is a group of players considered moronic. Nahhh, it is just fashion now to blame DDs. In a while we will blame someone else. Something will come in handy. And then the same old question will pop up. Why players refuse to learn how to play? What a vicious circle. Truth of the matter is that not all players are good. We are not all the same. Period. A bad player in any ship will perform badly. No matter what that ship is. So, what are we to do? Restrict bad players from playing DDs? We can't Restrict bad players from playing DDs in Random and Ranked? Shaky. It's like telling everybody that DDs are a class for superior players. Which it isn't. Oh here you go. I got it. We will restrict bad players from playing all-together. Problem solved. And don't start with the let's teach them how to play line. I was preaching this line, until, I realized you can't teach someone who is unwilling to learn. This is the gist of the matter. We are not all equal in game performance. Some of us play the game better than others. When you play well and your team is equally good you enjoy more, win more, have more fun etc. When you play well and your team mates are bad you have a bad game and you carry if you can. If you play bad and your team mates are good you get carried. End of story. How do you make sure that you always get a good team to play with? You don't. It is Random. Have a nice day Saltface

Oh I just started to like you more. When I first mentioned Hitchens’ Razor last year I ended up in a “fight”. Add to this that “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence” and you have the picture. @MerchantPrince yes, the late Christopher Hitchens was a journalist and an excellent debater. However, his razor followed Carl Sagan’s quote above. He, was a scientist. Anyway, we can all present a hypothesis. We must also present the empirical data to support our hypothesis. We must also present the falsification process of our hypothesis. And, if our hypothesis stands the scrutiny and resists the falsification efforts of our peers it will find its way in due course of time to become a theory. Conspiracy “theories” however, based on anecdotal singular observations are only good for reality shows. As far as I am concerned any hypothesis or claim that cannot be corroborated by data and evidence or cannot be falsified is none of my concern. Furthermore, unfortunately, the use of statistics in this forum is rather distorted. Statistics is a serious domain of mathematics. Non diligent reading of the numbers is very dangerous.it usually ends up in very silly conclusions. regards Saltface

Discounts on defeats this month ???

Many gamblers have tried to study the streaks. It doesn't work. You know why? Because it is random. Let me give you an example. In roulette people believe that the chances of having the ball fall on a black number after it has fallen many times in a row on a black number are smaller. This is patently wrong. The ball every time has exactly the same chances on falling on a black or a red number. Same with flipping coins. Every time you flip a coin, heads or tails are 50%. Always. This is math, it is not something we can argue about. Streaks are streaks. Good ones and bad ones. The problem is you cannot identify when a streak ends. Example. In the following sequence of coin flips (1 heads 0 Tails) can you tell me where the streak ends? 1110010100100001010000100100010100010101001011110010100011100101010 No (random coin flips) 1110010100100001010000100100010100010101001011110010100011100101010 but look at the bold ones (30 flips) 22/30 0s. You could say it is a streak. Would you identify that a 0 streak ended? No. Actually it did not end. As it never existed. It is as random as it gets. Over thousands of instances you can expect it to be around 50% So my opinion: Just play your game. Play as best as you can. Play to win. If a random team is bad what can you do? Just play the game. We all know that more or less we can influence 4 our of 10 games we play. 3 we will win and 3 we will lose no matter what. Enjoy the game

are you serious with ranks...totally manipulated

I know you wasn't aiming for me. It was one of these torps that pay off like the lottery. It was a Duhhh moment. And (my mistake) I wasn't expecting a torp coming that way. I was expecting you to torp flood a bit to the north of where I was. If you hadn't killed me your BBs would be sinking a lot faster on that flank. You actually gave them a breath of life as you was the only ship to keep me back and kill me for that matter. We had caped and as I was about to go south to your BBs, my teammates pinged the map of where you should have been as you did not contest the cap (west of the cap). Your cruiser was dead and I spotted you. And you killed me as I was leaving to go south. Note: You shouldn't be sorry. LOL I 'd torp and gun you down in a flash if I had the opportunity. these are the best moments. And we can talk about it LOL Until we meet next time Be well

@Herbstnebel1975 Actually streaks are a tell tell sign of randomness. Winning or losing streaks. So, you got a series of bad teams. It is random. Luck. Sometimes you get a series of good teams, but, as it is a fortuitous event you tend not to notice. This is human nature. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi

T5~CV~Time to farm XP and Coins

well, you are playing an "OP" ship according to some LOL and opting not to reset lines means you are a T10 player, so, why do you complain about sealclubbing? No matter what the reason, you are in the mid tiers. Good luck with your challenge. Us, the forum readers. We really want to see how you fare against a good CV player and understand the validity of your claim. As far as hidden stats goes it is your prerogative. However, claims of sealclubbing come from who? A new player or someone with thousands of battles? Good luck with your challenge and as know Venom good luck to him as well

T5~CV~Time to farm XP and Coins

@SmashUrr First Point What would be rather interesting to know is what were you doing in T5 with a premium ship and hidden stats? I would guess resetting a line. I would never believe that you was sealclubbing. If you were resetting a line then why shouldn't others reset a line? Oh but wait...you was in a premium. Oh you was not resetting a line. Was you sealclubbing by any chance? Second point T4 CVs are NOT a sealclubbers choice LOL actually when in a T5 ship and they are (the CVs) .... how can I say it ... useless. Third point When you get in the target of a sealclubber that knows his CV you will understand it. You will be sinking fast. Come and report to us then. @Speedymaus80 hmmm...14K + battles in T4 T5, were you sealclubbing? Nahhh...resetting a line I guess.
