For the love of the game - Training room battles as a community event
Saltface replied to DFens_666's topic in General Discussion
We named this initiative "for the love of the game" I think we like the game. Yes, there are some that don't like it. So, this one is not for them. We are trying to do something FUN. No grinding, no stats, no CVs, no SUBs, no +-2 tier MM etc. just a few forumites having fun and getting to mock each other on this very forum. You are welcome to come and play with us. -

wrong answer @ForlornSailor The correct answer is "why don't you give it a try? It might be fun" -
When will the Ukrainian department of the forum be created?
Saltface replied to MaksKray's topic in General Discussion
Actually it is "hieroglyph" You should at least try to spell correctly when you want to correct someone. -
We are missing context to tell you if you are right. 1. The fuso being sunk is one more star - so killing it is a priority 2. Losing a teammate in KW is not so bad - actually sinking (losing your ship) can make the difference between victory and defeat as ONLY half of the remaining ships have to exit for a Victory Therefore, ex post, losing your teammate and killing the Fuso might have been the correct thing to do. If, for example his sinking reduced the number of ships you needed for a victory, you killed the one more star. But we would need more context to tell you if you took the right decision or not.

Both are good, but I would definitely get Cossack.

I feel dirty playing it. But then, I go get a shower LOL LOL

Well my GC did 7 LOL and I suck in BBs @Aethervoxx I can tell you LOL When I did it, it was the 67th best, now it is 113. But I was so proud of it. I was a noob learning how to play DDs. (when premium consumables were a thing)

No. But it was supposed to play better. Because (as I mentioned in my previous post) you invited her. Your had very bad gunnery and very bad positioning. You opened the door for that Agincourt to sail straight up the middle channel. The others played badly. Very badly. However, they are not here to read what I write. You are. It is written for you to read and, if you want, take note and improve. I am not a teacher in class to say a word about each and every one of my students. I am one more forumite that does what we do here in the forum. We whine, we b1tch, we make stupid jokes, we are mean to each other, and, sometimes we give good advice. One thing I guess the majority on this forum hates are conspiracy theories. You can take it or leave it. It is up to you. And let me tell you something. I suck in BBs. If I can see your errors in BB play, dude, you have really messed up. I am a torpedo boat player, A one trick pony. But mate, your BB game sucked bad. No. I told you what you could have done. I even drew a picture for you. You could have played better. Who knows you might even have carried your dumb teammates. But this is wrong with you. Being a bad player is not a problem. Try to get better and all is good. But believing that it is the fault of everything else (mm, cheats, divisions, stats have no relevance etc.) will get you nowhere. Your game will never get better, and you will be the odd man out on this forum. Try posting to get advice, not to support your narrative. Dude, you will be surprised with the amount of tips and advice and instruction you will get. Learn from your mistakes. Dodge shells and torps not your shortcomings. And as a last note. I have been more than generous and fair with you. I could just troll you and mock you. I did not. I gave you an honest review of your games. Twice. And mate, telling you what you did wrong is the best I can do. Far better than caressing your ears and giving you validation and praises. Get some pu$$y if you need validation and praises. i ll tell you what I see. Take it or leave it. And if you post a replay again I ll review it.

Even a broken clock will show the correct time twice a day. But thanks.

Dear @Aethervoxx With great pleasure I noticed that you downvoted, once again, my post. Somehow, I dread the moment when you will upvote anything I write. Furthermore, I am happy that you actually read what I wrote. Deny it, yet I am sure something will stick and, maybe just maybe, you will improve. Let me touch a few specifics now. True. Killsteal is not a thing. But, when you take 20% (your less than 10K of damage) out of a ship's HP (Agincourt 48,800HP) you can't claim it as your kill. You "secured" the kill by taking, if I well remember, something less than her last 500HP. Actually, you should not waste your shot as she was burning and thus 30 seconds and a full volley went to waste. You posted your game, I assume it is yours on the US server. Why should I criticise the others. Others playing bad does not absolve you from your mistakes, nor your bad play becomes better because others played bad. Lets see you other statements now. What I will say is not pure speculation. It is an educated prediction. It is a "what if" scenario that might help you understand a bit better how the game was lost. What if, instead of sailing broadside you followed the red path and positioned your ship on the red dot with your bow pointing SSE? You already know where the Agincourts are. It is no great leap of imagination to gather that the third one is behind the rock at F7. The two bot DDs would have been sunk all the same and your Minekaze would still be in that area. However, the two Agincourt would be in a much tougher spot. If they continued their charge up the middle lane their broadsides would be open to the Courbet and the Kongo (not to mention Minekaze torps) while you would be taking minor damage being able to tank. You would be able to shoot with relative impunity and, who knows, maybe sink that Karlsruhe. If they decided to angle towards the Kongo then they would expose their broadsides to you, while you would still be in a safer place with your broadside covered. You could inflict greater damage. I think that by your mere position on the red dot you could make them think harder if they should push. Your flat broadsides actually invited them (not to mention that your poor shooting simple emboldened them) So, if your thought was to cover the middle this is one way you could do it. Not by becoming the shooting target for all ships in range. Let us bring some closure to this one. Sweetheart, the MM does not cheat. It is an impersonal algorithm that does not take sides or pick someone to screw with. I am not saying it is a good algorithm. I am not saying it cannot be better. What I am saying is that you get matched for Tier then Class then Country and thats it. This can get you some funny results I agree. These results are just the outcome of a "bad" or inadequate algorithm. (eg 2 radar cruisers on one side and 2 hybrids on the same side while the other team has none - I have seen this) There is no cheating here. Is it a good MM? Absolutely not. But it is not done on purpose to target you or any other player. It is just a bad result of an inadequate algorithm that was devised years ago when radars and hybrids were not a thing. If you get in such a game play the best you can, have fun, enjoy being drunk (I will be the last person to accuse you of this, maybe it is the only way one can play WoWs LOL) and on you go to the next match. Over time and a sufficiently large number of battles your bad MM will be balanced with the respective good MM. The 3 X Div of the Agincourts won because (I am sorry to say) of your bad positioning and your very bad shooting.
-
If you are playing a fast firing ship I could say is OK. However, on a BB I would not suggest it. According to my observations, one salvo always gets me better results that Ripple fire. On the Mino you could Ripple Fire and even adjust your aim during. But on a BB I d rather get the big salvo out.
-
Dude, either you are brave or you have a total lack of perception of danger. You know I will go through your replay and you posted it. I will pretend that you posted this as a genuine request for critical review and help so you may improve. However, I would like you to change your approach. How about you post a replay and ask "Guys, what went wrong? Could I have done something better?". In this case I am more than sure that the forum will give you very good advice. But, your opening statement is longing for one response and one response only. It was an easy prediction. From the moment you are in battle, unless your teammates carry the game, it is a loss. So, 75% is an understatement. I 'd say 90%. This is what you get for a statement like this. On we go to the review, shall we? I see another player name. Is that really you? Assuming this is you, read the following. If this is not you, why on earth are you posting this replay? Are you trying to expose and ridicule the Queen Mary player? Do you have permission to post his battle in the Forum? Too many questions. As I said before I will pretend that this is you on an alt account. If not shame on you. Some general comments. Very bad play. Very bad positioning. You got yourself in a crossfire and you gave so much broadside. You got sunk from the otherside of the map by the third Agincourt. Your aim is bad, but also the way you shoot is conducive to very bad results. Why don't you use the shift key to go in gunnery mode and out? Why do you ripple fire all the time? And why you only use HE? Even on full broadside targets you used only HE. Also, don't shoot and forget. Look where your shots land so you can correct your lead. If you want, or if you are unsure of your lead, shoot one shot at the beginning and then shoot the remaining guns with a double click. Furthermore, you had very bad selection of targets. Not to mention very very bad use of your repair. You lost so much HP due to untimely use of the R key. Let's get in the specifics now. At the 1 minute 24 mark you are full broadside to the whole map and detected after you had ripple fired the Shenyang. You could have turned in. Two Agincourt were visible so you was offering a juicy target to them. Instead you continued. You ripple fire again at the one Agincourt and you just shoot and forget. You don't see where your shots land so you can have a measure of lead. Your target wasn't angled enough to justify HE. Your shot is all gone to waste. Landed way in front of your target. At the 2 minute 30 mark you shoot a Karlsruhe. HE again, ripple fire and very short lead. You could have sunk her with a good AP salvo or cripple her. Till now ZERO damage. You continue sailing broadside to 3 BBs in range and you pick at the 2 minute 48 mark a fight with an Agincourt while the Karlsruhe was flat broadside to you and you could have punished it. None the less you pick the Agincourt. Very bad shot. HE again. Ripple fire. You do 3.3 K damage and you get shot back with HE that sets you on fire. You instantly press R. Horrible mistake. You had only suffered 1K damage yet you compromised all of your HP. This will become evident a bit later. You ripple fire HE again at the Agincourt and you get punished. You land two shots for a punny 2K damage and in return you eat a 4K salvo that sets you on fire. Now you have no R key (one more minute cooldown) to press and you press your Heal in panic. Very bad use of your consumables. You deal just a bit of damage and you get on fire again, so now you have two fires burning for at least 35 more seconds. You see now that the R key needs a bit of management. And, the Agincourt punishes your broadside with a hefty salvo. You manage to kill steal the Agincourt dealing 9608 K damage-out of 48450 HP, you are still on fire, your repair is on cooldown and Finally you decide to go bow in to the second Agincourt. He sends you an AP present for 8K and you shoot a crazy bad HE ripple again. Not that it would make a difference. From the otherside of the map the third Agincourt got your broadside and that was the end of your game. If this was really you playing the game: Abysmally bad gunnery. You can't lead your shots, you can't properly pick targets and you do not know what shell selection is. Tragic positioning, presenting a full broadside all the time to BBs to shoot you Horrible use of consumables Horrible to the extent that you just threw your ship in the garbage with your decisions. As far as I am concerned, if you want help, read above and try to correct these errors. If you insist that you lost because of the 3X div then my answer is as follows: According to what I saw till now, you are a very bad player. And you did not sink a ship. You stole a kill. Nope, it was a very bad game on your side. Before you sunk you had ship advantage. Two of the three Agincourt died before the 12 minute mark. Should you had played not well but at least an average game, the game would be totally different. You did not even do 25% of the average server damage or even your own HP. Not because the Agincourt in div was so good but because you were so bad. As I noted before I assume that this was you playing the game and not someone else that you shamed by showing his replay. Also, knowing your narrative and having seen this extremely bad game, I wouldn't put it beyond you that you purposely threw the game to have something to show that supports your twisted narrative against good players divisions and rigging. I really hope I am wrong. I also really hope you try to fix your game.

I would agree with you, but then we would both be wrong. Your demonstration of utter failure to understand how logic works and your lack of comprehension of what cause and causality are is mindboggling. Two things: Your readings, your input, your observations might be correct. The reason you attribute to them might be flawed. You see some things are correlated. However, that is only correlation. It does not signify causation. This is a common logical fallacy called False Induction. A false induction is often called a "non sequitur," which translates from Latin to "it does not follow." This fallacy gets you to infer a causal relationship where none is evident. Just because something happened before something else does not mean that there is a logical, causal link between the two. Let me break it down for you a bit. What is Correlation? Correlation is a term in statistics that refers to the degree of association between two random variables. So the correlation between two data sets is the amount to which they resemble one another. If A and B tend to be observed at the same time, you’re pointing out a correlation between A and B. You’re not implying A causes B or vice versa. You’re simply saying when A is observed, B is observed. They move together or show up at the same time. There are three types of correlations that we can identify: Positive correlation is when you observe A increasing and B increases as well. Or if A decreases, B correspondingly decreases. Example: the more purchases made in your app, the more time is spent using your app. Negative correlation is when an increase in A leads to a decrease in B or vice versa. No correlation is when two variables are completely unrelated and a change in A leads to no changes in B, or vice versa. Just remember: correlation doesn’t imply causation. It can sometimes be a coincidence. And if you don’t believe me, there is a humorous website full of such coincidences called Spurious Correlations. What is Causation? Causation is implying that A and B have a cause-and-effect relationship with one another. You’re saying A causes B. Causation is also known as causality. Firstly, causation means that two events appear at the same time or one after the other. And secondly, it means these two variables not only appear together, the existence of one causes the other to manifest. Correlation vs. Causation: Why The Difference Matters Knowing the difference between correlation and causation can make a huge difference – especially when you’re basing a decision on something that may be erroneous. You decided to resort to feeble attempts to insult, once again, instead of presenting arguments. Therefore, I will permanently assign you to the tin foil squad. You are as relevant as a flat earther. Even though, come to think about it, as with apes in a previous thread, this could be an insult to flat earthers. From now on Mr. Flatearther, I consider that mockery is the only valid response you deserve. So let's get to it. Shall we? Does not mean the game is rigged. It means that you are so bad at this game that you can't even handle playing against Bots. There are 4 keys on the keyboard that might be useful to you. ASWD. You deserve a Git Gud sticker. Nope, it means that, despite you being an utter scrub, you got lucky or carried. If you think that you played well you are quasi a plagiarist. You pretend that other's good play is your own. A plagiarist flat earther. How novice of an experience this must be. New sticker for you Dare and Double Dare you.

Hi again. I will try, as best I can, to dispel this statement of yours. And I am sure, no matter how much you dislike me, you do understand that I am a real player. You are making a claim. You clearly claim that the results of the game, be it CoOp, Random, Ranked or Operations is rigged. Rigged, I will consider for this post, means the outcome is manipulated. Now the burden of proof is on you. You make the claim, so, you have to provide the evidence. In any other case, no one is compelled to believe you. Well, not unless they fancy wearing a tin foil fashion accessory called a hat. What you present is merely your perceived feelings about the game. This is subject to confirmation bias. You must admit so much. You believe that it is rigged. So, you see only what corroborates your beliefs and avoid looking at what contradicts your belief. You, willingly, close your eyes to what might prove your narrative false. Lets try a see what your statements are. 1. You believe that the player base is OK. You statet so much in this thread (Post No. 10) According to the statistics of the game more than 50% of the players are below 48% WR. Clearly this is an indication of how bad the players are. There are many reasons why this is so. One is that many players play up to 1000 battles so they never manage to learn the game and they quit. This certainly drags the stats towards the low end. But, this does not change the fact that the game is full of novice players that do not know how to play. Hence, they are bad at the game. They don't stay long enough to learn how to play. True. But, they are bad. I could go on and on on this subject. So, here you go. Item No. 1. We do have a bad player base. Simple math. Now that the API is being updated maybe maple will be up again and you can loiter through the stats as we have done and you will see that what i'm saying is true. 2. You believe that BOTS shooting accurately is an indication of rigging. On the same note you think that the game is rigged because their shells cause more damage. TRUE. Your observation is correct. HOWEVER, your reasoning is wrong. The Bots in the game shoot very accurately and this is known for ever. It is a fact of the game. But, they can never hit you if you wiggle. They have no predictive algorithm. And this is testable. You may repeat the test if you like. Keep steady course and you get hit. Wiggle just a little bit and they miss. Their aim is based on simple calculation of you course and speed at the moment of the shot. Unlike a human player (that is competent) they cannot judge if you're going to continue to turn out or turn in. Or even accelerate or decelerate. This last one has a limited effect. Also, the Bots will shoot HE. Once you are on fire they always switch to AP. Irrespective to your angle. Allways. The Bots also are masters in dodging Torps. Allways. What I want to say is that the Bots shoot in a specific manner and this is constant over my thousands of games. Even which ship they target is constant. e.g. in Narai, they Galiso will always shoot the ships that are flanking from the North, the same applies to the Clev in the port basin and the Missouri. We know that. There is no magic to it. Bots shoot in a consistent manner and are absolutely predictable. This is my observation over thousands of operations. This should convince you that I do know what I'm talking about. I have my fair share of experience playing operations. You also claim that they cause more damage. TRUE. You fail however to notice that they also cause far less damage in some situations. We did an experiment when we were playing in a 7 player division OPs. We all took T6 ships. Result? Bots had not only seriously reduced HP themselves, but, their shells cause almost NO damage. It is the mechanic of the game. If you play with T8 ships, Bot HP is increased and their shell cause more damage. If you play with lower tier ships the opposite happens. This is a mechanic. Not a rigging. As far as RNG is concerned my only statement is that RNG is RNG. I have been observing the shots for long now. I try to keep a clean mind and keep my bias out of it. Its friggin random. I get bad shots and good shots. And more or less my observed results fall within the parameters that are stated for every ship. I have pulled magic shots dev striking ships with one salvo from long distance and missed all my shots point blank. But, in general, I observe a random result. Nothing that indicates that the game is manipulating my results. BTW, I don't know how good you are in Math. Random (or at least the pseudo random that we have in the game - fun fact - there is no true random in computers) is characterized by streaks. A good indication that something is not random is the absence of streaks. However, if you look at the long run, a sufficiently large number of observations (this is how statistics work), you will see that numbers fall in the region that is specified. It is Random and nothing more. 3. You also believe that players are BOTS. This could be the case. But we know how Bots play and the amount of silly I have seen in some players has nothing to do with Bots. Bots play better than many human players. A few years ago there was an infestation of Bots in the game. Their play style was so obvious. We could see a bot from miles away. I also run MMM. I can see a consistency in the play and the stats. Also, a tell tell sign that bad players that throw a game are not Bots is that they have detailed statistics that are consistent with their playstyle. Unless you think that WG went to the extreme to even create stats for their Bots. In this case I will use Occam's razor and Hanlon's razor. The simplest answer is most probably the most correct and what you can attribute to stupidity no need to attribute to malice. Bad players not BOTS. This evening, while playing operations with the regular bunch we div up all the time, twice in Aegis, I said "I m dead" Funny thing is I knew I was dead before they even started shooting at me. Why? One look at the mini map and I could tell. Bots are so predictable. No rigging what so ever. And i could say "It is rigged I only needed this one game to finish the grind. It took me two more games and I lost a bunch of boosters". But, it wasn't a rig. It was my teammates that did something that surely would get me killed. It was a prediction. And a final word of advise, you will enjoy a lot more the game if you learn how to play, Git Gud, to use the Forum vernacular. You poison your own entertainment by concocting conspiracy theories.

Yup, I did not bid in the auction for reasons of principle LOL But, Kunming (which I am getting as soon as it goes live) in triple DIV (or div combo of Benhams and Kunmings) will be reported in this forum as TOXIC And I am going to love it Cheers -
The experiment that you propose has been done by two of my online friends. I will not tell you the results that we have discussed this issue. Better if you have no bias I guess. Once you finish your experiment I will disclose their names and you can discuss their findings. Both are here on the forum.

I hoarded everything when economic flags was a thing. I would hoard my flags and use all my eco flags and my best camo on Fiji and Weimar for Narai. I was doing from 25K to 30K FXP per game. Now I play exactly like you. I save my blue and red ones. I use green and gray. But I m so resource rich that I don't really need anything. I also removed all camos (except perma) from my ships. I can get three superships if I sell them. This is Fiji. Check how many games I have in Random. I ll save you the time my friend. I really benefited from the old economy. I can say so. Edit: I do like operations. I find them a nice riddle to solve. As I have mentioned in other posts. You know the scenario, which ship spawns where and when. I always tried to maximize the output. I find pleasure trying to figure out how to play a scenario better. Nowadays, I almost exclusively play OPs in div with friends. Chatting, playing and having a drink. A lot better than Randoms that a visit from time to time is all I can handle.- 64 replies

So, maybe they are trying to fix it. The core of my statement is that their old model screwed the game. They have run out of content and gimmicks. They cannot support the maintenance, operationa nd development of such a model. So they are stepping on the break. Is what they are doing correct? I really don't know. Is the game fixable? Again, no clue. We will see. But you must agree with me that me getting ALL the ships in the game just by spamming Narai was not a good model.- 64 replies

I think that there is something inherently wrong with your thought. I assume you are a F2P player. You enjoy a free game.If not and you are a paying customer then your comment above is hypocritical. Two questions come instantly to mind by reading your comment. 1. If you wish no one pays WG for their product, how will you play a F2P game? 2. According to you the game is good but not as good as it should be. Do you really think that we should all stop paying for a game that according to you is not as good as we want it to ber? If the product is good but not as good as you would want it then, you are just fine being a F2P player. But telling people not to pay at all you are shooting yourself in the foot. WG is a business. Not a charity. You get to play for free because people like me pay something.- 64 replies
