    Tin foil hat discussions

no, this is not how to debate or discuss. But this is not a debate or a discussion. It is a fun thread that we post our tinfoil hat stuff.

    Tin foil hat discussions

Pete bro, you are off topic. Here you can post your tin foil theory, not try to debunk it. You can do that in all other threads of this forum. Not this one. Here, we post our tin foil theories. WE DO NOT DEBUNK THEM.

    Remove detailed Ribbons

FIFY oops, let me write what I think, I got carried away with the funny numbers thingy above. If your OP statement was only the first 12 words it would be a fine statement. You would be asking a question and you would be getting answers. You want the ribbons removed because they bother you. You ask how to do it. All the rest of your OP is just bullcrap. And here we are two pages in this thread, instead of a 12 word question and a one picture answer.

Instead of a very attractive 27" monitor on my desk I would prefer a very attractive 36" 24" 36" in my bed.

OK I can copy insults from the same place you copy them. https://www.thegentlemansjournal.com/best-insults-gentlemen-can-give/ LOL LOL LOL

Why are some players hiding statistics?

I am all up for a good debate. Please explain. Two things. I am not raging. Please do not confuse arguments with rage. I have not bullied, screamed, insulted or whatever you might think constitutes rage. I think the closest word I used to an insult is "silly". Second, I do know your stats. They are just three clicks away. Please do not strawman me. I never used the word "rightfully" or any other synonym. I said and I quote verbatim Same would be if I said that "if you go to a place of ill reputation and you wave your wallet above your head, you might get robbed, its only natural" The above statement does not condone robbery, but it indicates that "dude, you just did a silly thing and it was very very probable that you will get robbed" Same, I do not condone bullying or trolling. However, sometime you can see it coming. It is a natural sequence of events because of the aversion human beings have to other masked human beings.

Why are some players hiding statistics?

uhmmm....isn't this a bit of a contradiction in terms. If you are so good that you need to hide the stats, shouldn't you be also able to position your boat in such a way that you don't get focus fired? Also, if you are so good, why don't let the red team know it so they stay back and away from you? Anyway, as far as any advantage you may have in battle with hidden profile goes, it is lost after a few minutes in game. Anyone who knows how to play will see if someone is playing well or not. There is also a negative side here. The following might be a good example. I mostly play DDs. When I ask a good player in a cruiser to support me I usually get all the support I need. Why? because a good player will not follow my lead in a cap if they know I am a bad player. They will not put their game in danger of going back to port fast just because they supported a bad DD player. They will also support me because they know how valuable it is to keep your good DD player alive for the late game. And here comes the need for a profile. I just made a statement. How would you know if I am just saying crap or it is a valid statement? Just look at my stats you will find out if I know what I am talking about. Let me explain a bit more If I make a statement about CV play and @Youshanai makes one, whom would you listen to? Saltface Youshanai

Why are some players hiding statistics?

No you didn't. You just showed me how shallow and silly you are. But hey, I am all for freedom of speech. Want to call others idiots. Be my guest. Fallacy - False analogy. Besides what I said before you have poor debating skills or at best a very poor attempt at humour. Comparing Burqa with your profile on WoWs is an insult to all those women that have their identity stolen (this is not the time or the place to discuss this). Comparing it to people that don't want to follow medical protocol (imposed yes but a medical protocol nonetheless) is just short of trolling. Sorry, I will not take your word for that. Citation needed. For all I know your statement can be equally false or true. NO DATA to support your assertion. No data to reject it either. So I will just disregard it. Good for you. It is a fine sport. But this is also a false analogy. In a dojo where all know everybody you do not need any markings to show your level. Same as in fencing. All white. However, there are rankings. And they are not hidden. Not to mention, in the sport world, there are no belts but there are ranks and they are visible. We all know what rank (with what stats) is each an every athlete. To reiterate, it is your undeniable right to hide your stats. You may have many many reasons to hide your stats. IMHO as I said before there is a high correlation between being a very very bad player and having your stats hidden. That's all to it.

Why are some players hiding statistics?

12 pages and we are still here. Not bad, not good. Just shows that this topic and all the digressions and tangents are of some debating interest. A game, any game that is on line and multiplayer, creates a community around it. (I don't know if this is the proper word, maybe a better expression would be a loose group but I will stick with community because it is more fashionable). From the moment you interact with the members of this community by playing the game and participating in the various forums, chats, streams etc, you become member of this community. This is my first point. Second point, in this community you don't have a name you have a handle/nickname. You also don't have a face or a body. You have an avatar. Third point, in this community your achievements are not measured by how fast you ride your bike or how nice is your garden or how good cocktails you mix. Nor what car you drive. Your job in RL is of no importance. Your age? Nope. We don't care. Fourth point (bare with me i m taking this somewhere) your expression is restricted to a few graphics like your avatar, your banner on your profile, your signature that pops up under your posts etc and what you say in chat or in forum. What makes all these people stick together in a very loose group is their participation in the game. Their common interest in their game. This is the binding element of the group. Your performance in the game is important. It is a part of your "game identity". How good or bad you play this game is part of the data set that defines who you are in this community. They don't call it identity, they call it profile. When you hide your profile (and the associate performance data) is like walking the streets with dark glasses, a hoody or wearing a mask. People don't like that. People like seeing the face of others. Blame Darwin and evolution. But it is a fact. People want to know who you are and what you are doing in the community. (don't start with privacy now I said what you do in the community meaning in public) When you play the game you are acting in the community. When you post on the forum you act in the community. You are in public. People want to know where you are coming from and what backs up what you say. So when you hide your stats you are wearing a mask. It is your right to do so. But it is not your right to ask of others not to question your intentions or to not distrust you. This is the basic psychological mechanism. There are some very valid answers to this. 1. I am very ugly (translate to very bad player) and I want to hide it. Yup. Could be. It is a valid answer. 2. I am wealthy and I want to keep a low profile so people don't want to rob me. (translate I am unicum and I don't want to be a target) Also valid answer. 3. I am reclusive and I want as less possible of me to be public info. Also very valid. However, by doing so, not only you hide your identity but immediately you trigger the natural aversion of others towards what is hidden. At once you have increased the level of distrust of others to you. People also watch and observe the world around them. And the people that play the game have observed that there is a strong correlation between hidden profiles and bad play. Reason 1 of the list above. So, here you go. You hide your profile, most will think you are just a bad player. This is how it works. So, when you post on this forum people will not take you seriously, or even bully and troll you. It is only natural. Your profile while playing the game is your identity. When you hide it people don't really like you.

    return 3 lost scenarios

I went on the Test Server to play OPs. My first thoughts. 1. I really dislike that the operation is random. Not because it is random per se but because I cannot pick a ship that suits this operation. Not all ships are made for all operations. 2. If you get a T6 ship you will be the odd one out 3. My go to ship till now is the Bayard. I would not think of picking anything else First thoughts, nothing more Most probably we will end up in divisions to play what we want

    Super testers

I don't disagree. Here are some thoughts. I am good at playing DDs. However, I am only good when I play torpedo boats. This is one example. Do they take this into account? Second thought. How many players should be testing this ship so you have enough data? Third thought. I suck at playing cruisers and battleships. Or at least I used to suck. Now I suck a lot less. (last two years I play very little but I have over 55% in both those classes. Is that taken into account?

    Black has torp-boat build potential?

You can have a minelayer build but maybe you should just play the Black as intended
  14. Saltface

    Super testers

I ll just think out loud. Let's assume that the testing process is done with bad players. What will happen? Well, I guess since bad players perform badly, the ships that are being tested will underperform. So, in order to balance them, they will be buffed and we will have OPish ships in game. Or at least these ships will be launched in game as very strong ships. Now, let's assume that the testing process is done with good players. It will go the other way. Ships, played by good players now, will overperform. The balancing process will make them a tad on the soft side (MEHish). These ships will be put in game weak. Is any of these options a bad option. No, not really. Well, to be accurate, not really if the testing process is constant across the board, meaning that it is always bad or always good players that test ships. In this way the testing process and the subsequent balancing will be consistent and all ships will get to be launched in game as strong or weak. But this will be the same for all ships. What is wrong, imho, is if there is no consistency. In two fields. One is the quality of the players and two is the balancing mechanism. Ultimately, the balancing is being done, the final balancing I ought say, when the ship hits the live servers. And this is kinda a one way road. You will never know if a ship is balanced if the ship doesn't get a few 10s of thousand battles on the live server. Now, we opened a new can of worms. " WG - don't you dare touch my prem ship" or "look at evil WG - they are buffing so and so" or "ship is crap" or "ship is OP" or or or What I think that matters is consistency. And it is better to balance ships on the basis of how they perform in the hands of better players. I did not say unicums. I said better players. A ship "fine tuned" on the basis of average to low players (unfortunately the majority of the player base) will result to ships that need nerfing. And we all know what happens when WG nerfs a ship. Half are crying give us our money back, other half are accusing WG that they launch broken ships just to make a quick buck and all together go on a reporting spree to report all "toxic" players that play the ship that is available to all. I feel that a buff will be accepted a lot more easy than a nerf. Some will argue that a diverse testing group is better. I don't agree. A diverse group of testers cannot be consistent. The player base cannot be represented no matter how hard you try. I think it is best to get a group of average and above players to test the ships. Tune and balance them as best you can and then hit the live server. After some time give them one more balancing round. I would go as far as to propose that we have ships with the T suffix same as we have black ships. Let them be on the server at the same time. Then you might get some comparative data. You could test and see if your proposed changes will have the wanted result. Not to mention that players could be able to give you feedback like "oh crap, I was shooting at that thing full broadside and everything bounced, damn wakandanium armor" or "uhmmm was playing the T versions (T stands for testing) and damn dude this thing doesn't work" and you would actually be able to compare. All of the above are thoughts. Just thoughts. And food for thought. Not absolute truths. Do with them what you want.

    Economic Bonus Usage

do not underestimate the "research" ability of noobs LOL nor their will to exploit every nook and cranny of the system. Recent example was that asymmetric thingy where WG had to stop the event.
  16. Saltface

    Economic Bonus Usage

I don't object to that TBH. We all complain in this forum that the economy was too lax and allowed people to progress far too easy and fast to high tiers So if you have Fiji which is a silver ship and very easy to get you can do this by playing Narai - That's how I did it. and I never converted one XP to FXP Actually the best way to research your T7 and T8 is Narai with a few XP boosters.
  17. Saltface

    Economic Bonus Usage

I played the last Narai week (two weeks or three ago) Payout was normal. Not in a division. Did not chose sides (transports or CV) Worked fine. seemed normal. The changes are in the division economy If you play Narai with 4 players you actually dont get paid. look A friend in discord told me that the total XP given out is BXP for the operation times number of players In games with 7 players 16 kills would give way more that This one is 3 star - look at the payout
  18. Saltface

    Economic Bonus Usage

Best use of economic boosters is on the game mode that you have consistent high base XP earnings. e.g. if I perform consistently in one mode - resulting in 1500 BXP each game - I am better off using my boosters there rather than in another mode where I can do 2000 one game and 800 the other. Till now I would use boosters only in Narai. This way, as I score about 350K damage consistently, I have the best returns.

Toxicity in this game is ridiculous

@NewHorizons_1 There are classic examples of machine translation go haywire. In the following pairs of phrases, we begin with an English phrase, translate it into Russian, and back to English again. ``The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak''. After Translation to Russian and back, we get ``the vodka is strong but the meat is rotten'' ``Out of sight, out of mind''. We get back ``blind idiot''. Oh snap !!!!!!! Thats why the game is "toxic"

Just as a piece of information that you might want to know: Good schools when you enroll for your PHD or your Masters Degree give you some guidelines. How not to plagiarize, how to make proper citations, how to paraphrase, how to write bibliography endnotes or footnotes etc. One thing they all draw your attention to is "Wikipedia will not be considered as a source" And just because I find it funny, even Wikipedia informs the readers about the following: "Wikipedia is not a reliable source for citations elsewhere on Wikipedia. As a user-generated source, it can be edited by anyone at any time, and any information it contains at a particular time could be vandalism, a work in progress, or simply incorrect." Also Many[4] colleges and universities, as well as public and private secondary schools, have policies that prohibit students from using Wikipedia as their source for doing research papers, essays, or equivalent assignments. This is because Wikipedia can be edited by anyone at any moment. When an error is recognized it is usually fixed. However, because Wikipedia cannot monitor thousands of edits made every day, some of those edits could contain vandalism or could be simply wrong and left unnoticed for days, weeks, months, or even years.
