I read this, that your opinion is, that BB population show that BBs are balanced. But maybe I misinterpreted this.
-
Congratulation, you draw away a single sentence out of context of an entire discussion. And that proves now what?
-
Enjoyment is something depending on individual preferences. If you wanted to say, that a large number of player enjoy battleships, I agree with you (that is apparently an statistical fact). But, you can't - and that's my point - not link enjoyment with power or winning rate. So, you can't say, only because a ship class is played by a large number of people, it is balanced in relation to other ships types. Latter might be true for a fraction of players, but can not be generalized.
-
Is this your opinion or have you any facts about this? As do cruisers by HE spam and DDs by torps.
-
I didn't brought this up?
-
That's another wrong causal connection. Enjoyment is not something that is 0 or 1. And it is not linked with winning or having good stats. There are many players with stats that show very bad win rates and overall PR, but still multiple 1000 battles. After your thesis, they should quit the game, because they are doing bad. But they don't. Apparently, they have fun and keep playing. People simply like to play certain ship types, because their preferences. Some like big ships with large guns. Some like fast ships with torpedos. Some even enjoy playing planes in a ship game (yes, very weird). And some people like winning and just choose that type which gives the most advantage.
-
lol. You really don't get it? The graph is not important at all. It was just a example to prove, that popularity of a ship class is not connected to it's relative power.
-
The stability of a population of a ship type class is not linked with the balance between the classes nor the power of the ship type. Implying causal connections where are none is often a problem of bad scientific works. It's like to say, because most people like blue colors, it must be the best color of all. It's preferential. I play DDs, even if I would be better in BBs or CA/CLs. Because I like to play DDs. Most people play BBs, because they are somewhat iconic.
-
The problem is, that class popularity has nothing to do with balance or power of a ship type. Even in high tier CV population is low, which don't mean that it is least played, because CVs are weak.
-
Have you any facts about that? Wait, I have facts from another thread: Apparently cruisers are more popular than BBs in recent times. Following your own conclusion which links population with balance, we should nerf cruiser, right? Oh, and CVs and DDs should be buffed?
-
Arguments are here not relevant in this discussion, because no matter which arguments are pointed, the opposition wouldn't neither listen nor accept them anyway.
-
The phrase originates from debates held in the Roman Senate prior to the Third Punic War (149–146 BC) between Rome and Carthage, where Cato is said to have used it as the conclusion to all his speeches in order to push for the war. In 146 BC, Carthage was razed by Scipio Aemilianus. You don't need arguments, if you just bring your issue with persistence.

Only if the CA/CL is a complete potato. Who will show broadside over 15 secs and not change course if there is any BB aiming?
-
The balance problem currently is that we have rock - BBs scissors - CA/CLs paper - DDs Tactical nuke - CVs Rock vs. paper works ok. The rock has some sharp edges and has some chances to beat paper, but hands down, paper has the advantage on his side. Scissor vs. paper is good too, even too good at high tier because scissor slice trough paper like a hot knife trough warm butter. However, rock vs. scissor is off. Scissor is on the one hand an katana slicing though paper without any problem, but it is also an hydraulic cutting machine that can break rock Normally, scissor should be loosing to rock like paper is annihilated by scissor. But that is not the case, it's more a 60/40 chance for rock to win against scissor. While it is a 80/20 chance (at best) for paper to win against scissor.

As a DD main I claim the game is unplayable right now

I'm using Aslain's WoWS mod. There are mods included that allow to have side panels with additional informations, e.g. Autospy or Roslich. -

Can't even play DD anymore without using additional interface showing radar , hydro, speed and detection range for any ship. Should IMHO be already delivered by the original interface, since it is too important for good DD play. I also use matchmaker monitor on a second screen to evaluate enemies and team mates and especially CV players. Latter is really important to know if you should smoke up or try to evade if planes are coming for you. Not that smoking up would help much against unicorn CV players, but at least they waste more time. -

It's still possible, but it quite blocks much of the DD's options to influence battle with any meaning. For camping behind islands and spamming HE, most DDs have too less range. And the most important problem is, if you camp as DD behind an island, nobody is spotting either. Staying silent for the first half of the game means that you hope for your own team not to loose battle already in the first 5 to 10 minutes. If the snowball start rolling, it's highly unlikely that you will win the battle with a single DD. I addition, I regularly get flamed by especially cruiser players, if I stay mostly defensive in the first half of the game as DD player. I had even cruiser player next to team killing me (shot me down to 10%) because I refused to rush into a cap in the very beginning of the match. And latter was a T7 to T9 match. -
HOW MANY RADARS is ENOUGH 4U W.G?
xe_N_on replied to Varate_me_k_as_Klaiw's topic in General Discussion
I guess everything will be better for DDs, when subs are included into random game modes. Probably this will happen next patch, because according to the spread sheet all bots playing the sub game mode hadn't any complaint. -
OMG Weegee WHAT have you done to the graphics!!?!

You can buy a hot fix for 15.000 doubloons or alternatively grind it by playing 20 h per day. But it only works on russian ships though. -
Google it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowd_control_(video_games) CC is an almost fixed term in gaming. PS: According to WIKIPEDIA, CCs in WOWS have apparently the following abilities: - Trapping - situates the target(s) in an area where they have limited movement. - Knockback - forces opponents away from the CCer - Mind Control – takes control of the opponent and allows one to use some or all of their abilities - Charm – forces opponent to fight for the caster (against its real allies) - Taunt – forces opponents to attack the user.
-
In my opinion "CC" is a very strange abbreviation. Apparently it stands for "community contributor". But most commonly CC is used in MMORPGs as abbreviation for "crowd control". But maybe this is even intentional?

A not so small number of DDs not even have 6 km detection range. And even if, going so close to any ship is extremely risky for an DD, especially in high tier with radar and long range hydro. Therefore, most torp attacks won't be launched at 6 km. By the way (old but still good):
-
I don't know how it is on tier 10, but up to tier 8 it guess it would take several minutes for an DDs to sink a BB purely by cannons. At least, the experience I made up to now. Really, DDs have the lowest average damage of all ship types and are the second least played class. DD Torps can be evaded by anticipating them in advance not only at 2 km. Dev strikes by torp-walls can happen, but it is rare in high tier against experienced players. In higher tiers BBs usually even survive multiple torp hits from DDs that are not IJN. Example: Nearly full health Yamato rushed my Benson in smoke and got struck by 5 torps broadside. Guessed what? Yamato still had 50% left and sunk me with one HE-salvo. What exactly DDs got recently that was not a nerf?
-
As a DD main I agree with OP to a certain amount. Most cruisers use HE only because it is simply to easy to use (no worry about angling just keep spamming), while AP is situational and require tactical positioning. Even if a BB gives the average cruiser full broad side, most won't switch to AP, but continue to spam HE, even if the upper structures are damage saturated. Because fire does always damage. Such playstyle should be punished. There should be something like fire saturation, reducing the damage of fires significantly if upper structures are damage saturated. I disagree however with the overall conclusion of the OP that BBs in general are too weak. However, there is a number of BBs that have been power crept and should be buffed.
