I've been playing a few battles in my Omaha (150+) and I'm loving this ship! However, I also unlocked both T6 USA cruisers and I find them... meh. The Dallas suddenly fires ballistic ammo? And the Pensacola gets a turret speed that makes a BB laugh. So I'm kinda wondering: what cruiser lines plays a lot like the Omaha? The things I like are: - Good turning - Nice gun arcs - Nice gun turning (although, to be fair, the Omaha simply has guns all over the ship, so switching fire to another side is extremly easy) I don't need an island hugger and I don't mind the ship being fragile (who needs armour when you can dodge shells?) I like the fact that in my Omaha I can bow in to a BB, being a small target thus taking hardly any damage (unless I get citadelled through the bow) and bring 6 guns to bear. And when I get close I can turn between 2 BB salvo's and sail away, still being a small target and still bringing 6 guns on target (B-hull, never took the C-hull). As far as I read so far, it seems that: - USA: they fail for me at T6, but maybe better later? - RU: they can't turn fast I think? - IJN: Not sure, but I haven't played many battles with them. And what's up with the Aobe? It's a Pensacola with half the guns? - UK: Haven't played them, would they be right for me? - French: not sure what to expect from them - German: Also not sure if they are what I'm looking for

I ment when are they on sale? Not sure if that is the right way to say it. When are they cheaper. Indeed I do :-) Thanks. So it will take a few months. Not sure if I want to wait that long...

The US cruisers from T6 and higher do not get torps. If you want a cruiser with torps, I suggest you take another cruiser line.

After the Omaha you get to choose between the Pensacola (heavy cruiser) and the Dallas (light cruiser). Comparing them to the Omaha: The same: They blow up if somebody looks at them. Just like the Omaha. Do not make the mistake of thinking that the Pensacola has heavy armour or hitpoints... it does not. All 3 ships do not like to get hit. The difference: You will loose the torps. Both the Pensacola and the Dallas do not have torps. This is for the both lines till the end. Pensacola: 203 mm guns, heavy hitting, slow reload. Dallas: 152 mm guns, faster reload.

Thanks for the info everybody, I decided to go for the French cruiser line.

Thanks for all the replies! Not sure if it was my first, but I do have the Omaha, Dallas, Pensacola, Koningsberg, Furataka and the Aobe. I did watch the captains academy video from IChaseGaming about angling. Did that when I was in the T3 St. Louis... dear lord does that thing becomes tanky when you learn how to angle. Makes you feel invulnerable... untill you get the T4 Phoenix and then the Omaha... you learn quickly to go from bouncing shells to evading shells. So it seems I'm down to german, UK or French. So I watched some video's: - German: I watched a video about the Núrnberg: shell arcs seems a bit more floaty then I like (not Dallas bad, but still) and the turrets don't turn that fast. So... meh, probably not going for this - French: I watched a video about the La Galissonnière and the Algérie: seems like nice ships. The Henri has a big detection radius, but it will be a while before I get there. - UK: I watched a video about the Leander: nice ship, nice shell arcs, nice turret speed. All good. But in the video, Flamu was complaining about 2 things. 1: Your damage gets really low when somebody angles. 2: It doesn't like uptiering, since it lacks HE to spam fires (which deal % based damage and helps you burn down higher tier ships). But this video was 2 years old, I'm not sure if things have changed for the British ships?

According to the patch notes, there should be an "Air supply premium container" in the premium shop. But I can not find it there. Am I missing something or is it not available?

How long does it take for you to complete these directives?
Zigiran posted a topic in General Discussion
I'm kinda wondering how long it takes for people to complete these weekly directives. For me, not a long time player, I am doing it with T5 and T6 ships, it takes about 30 - 40 battles each week. This is about 10 hours of playing I think? Since I only play about 1 hour on week days, this means I have to do quit a few battles in the weekend. These directives are starting to feel like a chore. To be honest... facing 6 more weeks of this? I might get a burn out from this -

Sadly, the only high tier line I have are JP torpedo DD's. And those did not have a good time the last few weeks (although it is getting better I think, less CV's and less Alaska's sailing around now). But they are not that good for most missions. They can't kill planes. They have a hard time getting main gun hits / ribbons. So that is why I switched to my Omaha for the last few weeks. And I do skip the plane kill missions, yes. Thank god you can skip those and still complete the directives -

1: Yes, I'm a prefectionist. If I see a mission I could do, I will do it. 2: True, but in a T5 it seems to take a long time, so that is why I was wondering if it would be faster in a higher tier 3: I ment burned out with this game, as in: I might get annoyed with it and quit this game. -
I haven't really played the new CV's, so I don't understand this: Our CV launches planes, enemy CV launches planes. They both move toward the center, then when our CV spots the enemy planes.... he goes in pursuit? Why are people doing this? Do your rocket/DB/torp planes shoot at enemy planes when close enough?
-
I guess is it the latter part, since I often do not see them drop fighters. Today in a match a friendly CV launched divebombers, flew a few km away, noticed incoming torp bombers for his carrier and he started chasing them... All 3 torp runs long the divebombers were chasing the enemy torp bombers. No fighters were dropped. It seemed totally useless to me

So far I have done most missions in my Omaha.... Only using the kongo for the secondary hits in coop. Edit: and I did the spot mission in coop in a CV -
How is your Crown & Florin collecting (for the 3x RN CVs) going on?
Zigiran replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Being a casual player: I got the Hermes (haven't played it yet, T4 doesn't help me with the directives) and I'm currently at 700 / 130 for the Furious. So I need 300 more florins. That should be doable in 1.5 week. I'm not going for the Implacable. I don't play enough to get close to it, so I would have to spent a lot of money to get it with this event. Not worth it for me, since we can just grind it in 0.8.2. -

That sounds like a nice list. But I start playing random to get all the xp, by the time I have that, I finish what is left in coop. Although that is usually only secondary hits and sometimes cap/defend missions. I have given up on the plane kill missions, those are just . First you need to get a game with carriers (pray to RNG), then you need the carriers to fly the planes over your ship (pray some more to RNG) and hope they are not some pro's that actually sink your ship (just keeping praying for that RNG). But how many battles does a directive take in T10 ships? -

I do use coops too. For example, for the "get 120 secondary hits" mission, I took my kongo in coop for some brawling. Not something I would do in randoms But I need the entire week to do about 40 battles. I don't have time to do anything else (like lvl up a german BB line to get those secondary hit missions). -
I got 350k free xp and I'm not sure what to do with it: - Buy a Nelson... And let it rust for a while in my port, since I got only 1 BB line and that is at T5 (the Kongo). So playing a T7 BB might not be a good idea untill I have more BB experience. - Spent it on captain. I have a lvl 15 captain, I can almost get him to lvl 18 with that xp and get closer to my first lvl 19 captain. - or ... something else?

I have decided to wait and see how the exeter missions go. I'm currently working on the first ones in my Omaha, but later you need RN ships if I remember correctly (which I do not have). So I will see if I have enough time to complete the exeter missions, then I'll get the Nelson to complete them. But I doubt that I will have enough time, I'm still working on part 1 stage 2 (receive 4 mil damage), since it took ages to get those 30 plane kills.

So... it is deep water radar? ___________________________________ Now I haven't read all 49 pages of this thread, but would it not be an easy solution to put a cap on the number of radar cruisers in the game? With the release of the Alaska all I had so far was games with 4 or 5 radar's on the enemy team. That + the nice friendly "I'm using radar" addition, means that as a DD I get chain radar'ed very easily. I have no problem with 1 or 2 radars in the enemy team, I can handle that. But 4 or 5? That is just hell to play. Add in a CV sometimes and I'm totally useless. *Disclaimer: I'm play JP torpedo boats, this might be different for RU DD's I guess

So far I only found 1 ship hard when it was stock, the fubuki (with 6 km torps... ridiculous). I should have used free xp on it, but I didn't back then, since I was not sure if I should save the free xp. Other ships are fine for me stock. My 2 'big' captains are: - lvl 15 captain on the Kagero (yes, I got a new captain for the Yugemo). I'm going to keep my Kagero, it is so much fun to play. Well, not since the last 4 weeks, but eventually, hopefully? - lvl 14 captain on my Omaha (I got new captains on my Pensacola and Dallas). Been playing Omaha for the last 4 weeks and I'm having so much fun in it. I got no premium ships in both those lines, so I can't lvl my captains up faster that way. The main reason to buy the Nelson now would be: will it maybe become unavailable for free xp some day? And yes, I had not considered that, but it would be nice to have if I go for the RN BB line some day.

I already see the fly strike win directive?

I have a few questions about premium ships: 1: In the lunar new year containers can be premium ships. Do these come with a slot? 2: If not, what does happen when you open a container but you do not have a spare slot? 3: What happens to a premium ship if you sell it? It offers me credits if I sell it. Can I buy it again for credits if I ever want it back? Or do I need to spent doubloons / coal / something to get it again?

Wait until you have the joy of meeting a CV who took radio location.... Now that puts you as DD out of the match completely. I survived the first half of the match, only to find out I could do absolutely nothing in the 2nd half. I could not cap, I could not spot, all I could do was hug this big friendly cruiser and be useless (I already ran out of smokes from the first half).

Not sure if I missed something (still pretty new at this game), so before I make a bug report, I'm hoping somebody else can take a look at this. In the replay, around 10 minutes in the game, I enter a smoke cloud in my Omaha (smoke was from an enemy DD). But even though I am fully in the smoke, I am still being spotted and still being targeted by 4 enemy ships (which is unpleasant in an Omaha...) Why was I still detected? It was not radar or hydro, it does not show those icons. It is just an !, indicating I'm being spotted by a surface ship while in the smoke? 20190216_210314_PASC005-Omaha-1923_13_OC_new_dawn.wowsreplay
