Smoke is pretty much the only "counter" to a CV chasing down your DD though (quotes for obvious reasons). Or does "Because there should be counters to anything" not count for CVs for some reason?

I have had moxed results turning in and had been experimenting with turning out without much success and with throttle jockeying. Just trying to work out general principles (such as they exist at all). Yes I definitely need to expand my horizons a bit. Thanks everyone for your responses - I appreciate it :)

Hi Everyone, So I still consider myself a fairly new player (around 500 games) despite rushing my way to T10 (I know, I know...). Anyway, I am looking to improve my destroyer play - specifically regarding dealing with CV attacks. I am aware that one should keep AA switched off unless already spotted and that smoke can help, but sometimes the enemy CV catches you out of position, or just makes a mission of hunting you down. My question is: What is the best way to handle this? Which attacks are best dodged by turning into them? Which (if any) have elongated targeting reticles and are best dodged by turning broadside? Obviously I can't completely avoid this sort of damage, but I assume through improving my play that I can learn to mitigate it somewhat, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. For reference I mainly play IJN torpedo boats and am trying to learn Shimakaze (though having a very rough time of it - I picked it up pretty much just after the CV rework hit and admittedly got frustrated enough to take a break from the game). Hi Everyone, I recently started playing World of Warships and I have been enjoying it quite a bit. Just hit level 15 the other day and looking to join a clan, preferably UK based, with active members. lots of the clans advertised on the forums seem to require high tier ships and the like though, so I'm at a bit of a loss when looking. The highest Tier I have reached is T6 (Fubuki) with a couple of 4s and 5s. I don't really want to rush to high tiers as I feel I will end up in over my head, but I am looking to improve at the game and am hoping for a clan that can help me have fun while doing that. Any clans looking to recruit an abject newbie in the hopes he might one day make good?
