SERVER RESET, LOST 3 HOURS WORTH OF PROGRESS
bratisla_boy replied to kfa's topic in General Discussion
Now, does the server reset change the time for which the naval dock will stop ? Because, and I'm not even sacarstic, every hour counts. Can't believe I would say that one day. -
This.

Which could offer some ways to, ahem, bargain : "I am at irrevocable rank, I'll let you win and let's make a deal". I don't really know what's the stance of WG for that kind of behaviour if it's ok for them contact me via PM, we can sort things out. /j

Tier 10 BB's are cowards, why is that?
bratisla_boy replied to DarkPhariah's topic in General Discussion
Lemme just a bit of time, I finish my current game and I hop again on my JB. I can't bother less about my (abysmal) WR now, as well as my karma, so I might as well put the radar cruisers out of radar range for you for some minutes if I stay 3 or 4 kms behind you. unfortunately I'm on Zzlda breath of the wild, so don"t expect to meet me for a few months ... -
Tier 10 BB's are cowards, why is that?
bratisla_boy replied to DarkPhariah's topic in General Discussion
A not so rare scenario. Let's take northen light map in domination mode. You spawn at C North as a BB. You decide (wisely) not to go D and instead you vow to tank for the team and follow your DD in C. You tell him. You decide to commit into the strait, you slow down before entering the cap so that the DD can get it more easily (otherwise you will get constantly decap by shell spam and the capping process will take longer). An enemy DD appears, and it appears your DD runs immediatly away either by going left into the islands or going back instead of fighting with your help - or he's instadeleted either by lack of luck or potato. You are spotted, you cannot spot the enemy dd nor the island waifu cruisers. And you are committed. So either you turn back and show your juicy broadside, or you pull the reverse while the enemy do lots of fireworks on you for free. You die after having tanked a lot, and you are greeted in chat with the "OMFG n00b BBaby yoloing in cap". You loose credits because tanking rewards nada. Another usual scenario : you are a jap torp dd, you spawn in estuary N of W side, you declare that you will not run straight into the cap but you will taste waters before going in. A BB declares "you will run cowardly then". You go beyond the islands, fall onto a gunboat DD. And you discover that said BB, as well as all the cruisers, decided to play hide and seek with the islands and do not have any angle on the incoming DD (in the most optimistic scenario). You sink, loose credits, yada yada At this point, either you create a bingo card for each class and your blood pressure rise, or you realise that WOWS rewarding system incites you to stay back and spam and you follow the trend. Or you decide f**k this I will play my ship so that I'm helpful for the team - you play your team role and you trust your team. Shocking I know. But, sometimes, you will have teammates actually trying to help you in return * - and that's awesome. (Still surprised that some people are so much playing a ship class that they feel compelled to berate others playing a different class. I dunno, a game offers me several ship classes, I play everything - it's like a free workshop buffet, you try everything and then you take more of the yummy mini spicy sausages, you do not take only the shrimps while berating people eating the miniburgers. ) * once in a Mutsuki I found myself alone on a flank - except that the CV helped me tremendously : together we defeated the enemy cruiser and russian DD before I dispatched the BB there. Once the path was open, I was able to go into enemy spawn to spot and drive enemy CV mad. Without the CV I wouldn't have been able to do that, so thanks a lot ! -
Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
bratisla_boy replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
FYI, @Tanatoy was asked (several times I guess) about giving better rewards for potential damage and spotting - inciting (or so one can hope) BBs to get more at the front and act as tank. His answer was that they thought about it, but they feared that it could lead to exploits. I totally understand this caution, we know how gamey some people can be. I however think that BBs sniping HE at max range to farm max damage are, in a certain sense, kinda abusing the game mechanics already - and some people will game the game whatever system you put in place. April fool events could be a way to test new reward mechanics for a limited amount of time in an isolated environment with enough players to do full PvP. But one can bet without much risk that, whatever you do (even buff BBs beyond grotesque or nerf HE beyond parody), BBs camping at back will always be a thing. (so yeah I'm not for buffing BBs - except german ones - and/or nerfing HE, but I would be curious to see the effect of changing rewards. I will still often park my Jean Bart just outside the cap circle behind the DD capping, for the sheer joy of seeing baddies going away from my little bro and circle going green while I burn happily) -

Shima. For high stealth and torpedo soup to add insult to injury. Plus any DD trying to chase Shima is gonna have a baaaaaaaaaad surprise
-
This. FP + BoS + fire mitigation module + anti-fire flag on BBs is mandatory if you want to play the much needed tank role, even if you can do the meme secondary build.

You will excuse me if I cut your post a bit :) Just a point : what you see is relevant to adults. Problem is : game is PEGI 7, meaning that children, not even teenagers, are considered to be old enough to play the game ; and gambling is illegal (as being forbiden by the law) for children under 18 in so many countries I won't bother list. Belgium lawmakers already stated that lootboxes with a *chance* to win something is a form of gambling, as will probably do the UK lawmakers. The least that can be done is to inform the parents by rating this game at least PEGI12 or even higher. And this is only from a legal/reglementation point of view, I won't comment on what can happen to the young minds with these kind of "surprise mechanics" since there is simply not enough feedback yet. /edit this is not a refutation of your arguments, since you mainly spoke about adults, I recognize that. Just a point I wanted to add concerning children - and they are quite a few in this game.

Anniversary done. Final container.. what did you get?
bratisla_boy replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
I just got back from work and I have a report to finish tonight, not counting the field survey tommorow. How do you manage to finish the directive already ? -
With gambling mechanics like this, it should be revised. I allowed my 10 year old son to play the game, now I may have second guesses.

got the same, even though I worded like this : "I'll spot cap and go if it's OK". I was in a IJN torp boat, not expecting to win a gunfight - as anyone with at least two brain cells should. But no hurr durrrr I "was going to pu$$y out". Now I don't speak anymore on chat - except when I am a BB and I state to the DD in front of me I'll go with him and provide AA cover, so that he knows in advance where to go if needed. I may be a bit salty, I still tend to provide help by chat.

Best DDs to contest caps taken by enemies are BBs anyway. Since capping raises the alarm and let the enemy chase you down with radars and hydro and rockets anyway, why not bringing in the biggest HP sponge, have ballz of steelz and stop the enemy to gain points ? Plus you get focus fired, giving your teammates the opportynity to return fire. And it solves the bad/mediocre accuracy problem of KM and french BBs - by getting closer distances. And on top, if your team does not know how to use the opportunity you offer, you can go quickly to another game Do the job, instead of moaning that other people don't. My spotting damage record was with a low-tiered Konig - you can do it if I potato master was able to do that.

too deep tropod impat -
I see the point of taking RPF and the advantages, but in the end a BB shall tank near the cap to help her comrades. And not running FP in the (IF)HE spam meta just asks for melting (or sniping in back, gl with Alsace). Unless you run a FP/RL captain and you give up on secondaries and "concealment", which is something to ponder.

From my recent take at low tiers (to farm new ships up to tier 5 to be ready for money directives), DDs and BBs actually are in a better place than cruisers. BBs have to learn patience and consider they will be slowly depleted of health as much as their enemy, DDs can actually dodge attacks (still the spotting problem but hey) . But cruisers ... contrary to high tiers their AA is pathetic, they are clumsy so everything hits besides potato aiming, and they don't have the pool health of BBs. Grinding russian dd line was okay. Grinding german cruiser line was not nice - I begin to actually see the end of the tunnel with the Konigsberg who fits *at last* some decent AA.

I tried it in front of my kids (one of them beginning the game), in coop. We made caveman noise while going mindlessly forward, doing secondary firework, ramming the last ship and getting a report for bad play for good measure. I may actually buy her, just out of lolz.

2 planes shot ? ... How did the Karlsruhe manage to get that many planes ? (seriously I didn't manage to kill a single plane, even in coop)
