I've been quite critical of a number of Wargaming's decision. But this takes the cake. Rock bottom.

How Jäger can be Tier IX ship?!!
Callidous replied to VedranSeaWolf359's topic in General Discussion
The answer is simple, tier 5-6 ships don't sell as well and not for the same price, so they put it in tier 9 to make more money. -
Smoke Curtain Generator and Mines are not that terrible!
Callidous replied to ziratulbihac's topic in General Discussion
Here's the thing. Those "good players" make predictions about how announced things will play out and then, when the things get added/changed in the game, I, as a player more close to the average, notice that the predictions have come true. Not always, but a lot of the time. So, Wargaming should listen to the opinion of those players, because they know what something will do to the game better than Wargaming themselves. I can't speak for the majority of players, but speaking for myself, I used to spend a few hundred Euros a year on the game and then I stopped, because I realized it was only getting worse. I have recently uninstalled the game again. I don't know if this time will be the last, maybe someday I will feel like playing it again. But I do know that I'm not going to "whale" in a game that I don't see myself playing regularly. If Wargaming had chosen to listen more to those players, I'm quite sure I'd still find something worth paying for, but since they don't and every few months there's some new nonsense making my experience worse, I really have no reason to. PS: The edge of the map is a pretty big place to mine, if your plan for more "active" play is making the BBs feels not safe. -
Concealed Maneuvers Smoke Curtain and Minefield
Callidous replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Wargaming is fundamentally uninterested in improving the gameplay of the game. Sure, every now and then we get an alibi balance patch with a little turret traverse here and a little reload time there. But the guiding principle of development in is coming up with new gimmicks without the slightest care about how it affects gameplay quality. Air-dropped smoke and mines are bad gameplay and everyone knows it and maybe in a game where the developers actually care about it being good that would matter, but here it doesn't. -
Why do you insist on finding ways to make gameplay worse - Minefields? CV smoke? Seriously, who thinks this is good for the game? Has the person who came up with it ever played it?

They are angry because you did damage they wanted to do. I've noticed earlier this year that co-op has become a drain on karma.

There's more to hiding stats than just winrate. If you look at, say, wows-numbers, you'll get an idea of how much public information there actually is. When you play, how much you play, what premium ships you have (i.e., what your account is worth)... In my opinion that's nobody's business. If I could just show my winrate and hide everything else, I might do that, but as it is, it's all or nothing.

I guess I'm the only one who cares that they've introduced yet another mechanic to pressure players into paying real money to keep up.
-
Obviously I either can't explain it well enough for you to understand the difference or you're choosing not to understand the difference. Anyway I've said what I wanted to say.

The old perma-camos added up with economic signals, just like the old expendable camos added up with economic signals. The old perma-camos and the old expendable camos were equivalent. The new permanent bonus package however does not have an equivalent. You have to buy it for dubloons or leave it empty. So, you didn't have to pay dubloons to max out economic bonuses, but now you do.
-
The difference is, if you did it before, you didn't have an advantage over using an expendable camo, except for not expending it. Now you have an advantage over not buying the permanent booster, because it has it's own, additional slot.
-
Ah, I guess we're having a misunderstanding then. Let me elaborate: In the menu for "Economic Bonuses" there are 4 slots for the expendable boosters in the middle and 1 slot for a permanent bonus package on the left. This bonus package is what I'm talking about. I have one on every ship that I have a perma-camo on, but on the ships where I don't have a perma-camo, there is no bonus package equipped and I can buy one for dubloons.
-
Do you mean on the ships that you already own perma-camos on? Check a silver ship for which you don't have one.
-
While I'm a little annoyed that I have to learn a new system that's more complicated than the old system, I appreciate the additional customization the new system offers. But there is one thing that bothers me. The perma-camos used to be cosmetic extras which you use instead of a regular camo and got different but not superior economic bonusses out of. Now that econ and appearance have been split, it appears that in form of the "bonus package" there is now a dubloon-gated bonus that doesn't replace regular bonusses, but goes on top of it, so there's no way around spending dubloons to get the most out of a ship economically. Am I seeing this correctly?

Karma and co-op is a whole 'nother story. Since my last break from the game I've played almost only co-op, mostly because facing CVs and Subs is so much less stressful there. Since then I've also lost 90 % of my karma. People generally don't care if you play badly in co-op, with few exceptions. But when you do well, that's when you lose karma, because you selfishly do all that damage yourself. Used to be you had to "killsteal" to be downvoted, nowadays having 1 kill and 120k damage can be enough.
-
A lot of people coming to the forum probably aren't even playing co-op, but if you do, you've probably noticed how terrible the bots are. I'm not talking about their general strength, they've never been much of a challenge. Ever since the maps were adapted to allow submarines, the bots have abysmal pathfinding. They're constantly getting stuck on the edge of islands. I'm at a loss how it's possible this is still going on after all this time. Is it so hard to fix or have you just not noticed you created this issue?

Hey, I have a bad memory, don't judge me...

Yeah, I had a vague memory of seeing a thread like this. Today is just the day I got mad that it still hasn't changed.

Chatban and bad games, coincidence i think not!
Callidous replied to D3adstyle's topic in General Discussion
Do we know how chatbans work? I mean, you can report someone for being bad in chat even if they haven't used chat. Is someone checking the reports (I doubt it) or are you just automatically chatbanned at some point? -
You must be new to the game. If there is a possibility to include a cash grab, it's there. Of course, it's a free to play game and they have to make the money somewhere. It's our responsibility to decide whether we're going to spend ungodly amounts of money for pixels (Personally, I've decided to stop putting money in the game when they announced jet planes, the final of many nails in the coffin).

Update 0.10.10, Delny Destroyer and changes in USSR Tech Tree. (DB 221)
Callidous replied to YabbaCoe's topic in Development Blog
When can we expect some more specific information on when, that is in which patch, the tech tree changes are going to come? I haven't gotten to Khaba yet and I'd like to have some idea how much time I have to finish the line before it becomes a coal ship. Is "early 2022" more like january or more like march? -

The response says that they added the mission to my account, so it didn't arrive by itself. -

Thank you for responding. In the meantime I had opened a support ticket and have received the mission.
