WG clearly dont get role of CV in naval warfare
Callidous replied to _Conan_Librarian_'s topic in General Discussion
It would be nice if CVs spend more time fighting each other instead of ignoring each other and bullying DDs. -
French Destroyers part 1 almost made me write an angry lengthy essay about why it was a badly designed event.

That it's about earning money isn't actually what bothers me. It's a free to play game, that is financed by purchases from the cash store. There are ships that cost more than a brand new full price video game. I don't mind that. That's transparent and straightforward. What I do mind is the deceptive nature of how they went about this event. The notion that they developed the dockyard feature with the overly complicated mechanic for earning construction with only 1 % of the population in mind from the start - which they now claim - is absurd. It's intended to sucker people into committing to it without knowing how exactly it works, so they feel compelled to spend money although they wouldn't have considered it, if it had been clear from the start how it works. When I first started the game after the update, I didn't bother inspecting the directives and assumed that the three gold boosters would guarantee the ship, considering what other premiums cost in the arsenal. Luckily, I didn't commit to anything and came across the backlash, before spending anything. Other players don't follow the community. They don't come to the forums. Most of them won't calculate how much effort it would actually take them. Maybe they make the same assumption I made, because they don't play the game for math problems. Nothing will ever convince me that this isn't exactly what WG was counting on.

24,000 doubloons for 'premium' Puerto Rico boosters.
Callidous replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
Keep in mind, however, that it depends on how long it takes. If you buy all 3 doubloon boosters, complete 3 directives, and get all the log in and daily mission rewards for token boosters, but you got the boosters too late, it still won't be enough. -
This is exactly it. It's the only way this makes sense. And it tells us that they're still lying when they pretend that it was aimed at hardcore players from the start.

Saying that it was possible to earn the ship for free by "just doing the directives" instead of saying that it is for all intents and purposes impossible to earn the ship for free is a whole different quality than "failed to communicate the degree of time and dedication needed".

Even CCs complain about Puerto Rico grind
Callidous replied to wot_2016_gunner's topic in General Discussion
Has there been any kind of response from someone at WG regarding the PR grind yet? -
Are you going to grind the Puerto Rico?
Callidous replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
There's a distinct possibility that not a single player will be able to finish it without paying dubloons, certainly nobody who has a job or a family. -
The grind is literally impossible for anyone who doesn't play full time. I could spend money on it, but I'm not going to reward WG for this transparent and insulting scheme. So, nope, I'm not getting it and I encourage anyone to do the same.

Thank you for the christmas present of knowing now that I don't need to bother trying to complete any directives this holiday season.

[RESULTS] Pearl Harbor - Fight for Arizona

Yeah... What kind of an incentive is a one day rental supposed to be? -
Well, at least in part 2 you can calculate with the tokens, better than being forced to gamble for a chance to earn the privilege of playing a tech tree ship a little earlier...

I've been thinking about this a lot and I haven't come up with an answer. With submarines going 35 knots around, how are you planning to avoid battleships and heavy cruisers becoming obsolete? I assume you're not expecting destroyers to do actual escort duty.
-
Well, I guess this gives me a good reason to stop paying money for the game now.

Can someone confirm if it's going to be possible to get any more sovereigns? The RN event is still going on, but there doesn't seem to be any opportunity to get more (except by spending them).
