So you decided to neither confirm nor deny whether the chance to win a ship other than the alleged "short-list ships" is zero, unless you already have one.

Santa containers "rigged": WG Chooses Your Santa Gift Ship
Callidous replied to wot_2016_gunner's topic in General Discussion
What it doesn't explain, however, is why only the "short-list ships" come from santa crates and other ships exclusively from supercontainers, that is: replacement crates. -

The question is whether there's a non-zero or a zero chance. -

The allegation is that unless you already have one of the "short-list ships" you are locked out from getting any other ship. If that is true that means that if you do in fact not have any of those ships Wargaming is soliciting money from you, alleging there is a non-zero chance to win all those other ships - regardless of how low - when there actually isn't. In that case, it would not be gambling. It would be fraud. I don't know if it's true. But I'm not yet convinced it isn't. -

Here's the thing: Why are only the "short-list ships" in santa crates and every other ship in a super-container - that is, a replacement crate? -

It rolls first and then it checks if you already have the ship and replaces it with a different container. Also, the rolling doesn't have to be actually at the same time. But if the control happens only after all rolls, then it has the same effect as if they had been rolled at the same time. Edit: Oh, maybe I missed this, but how do you even know the list in the forum post is in the same order the person received the ships? -

But it was not obvious how much it would cost to finish it. You had to reach a certain number of stages before the game even told you much it would cost to finish it. So they suckered in people who thought "I'll try to get as far as I can and then I just finish it for dubloons" by not disclosing that it would still be expensive. It's not the same thing, but it's the same pattern of intransparency and exploiting players' naivety. -

If you do not already have ships on the short-list, you cannot get a random roll from the result list. That's the issue. -

The Key Battle: Even More Rewards!
Callidous replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Has anyone bought one of the captains? Do they have unique voices? Because in key battles they apparently don't and I don't think I'll buy captains if they don't come with unique sound. -

My game tells me "No exterior customization options are available for this ship" and I can't equip any signals, even if I wanted to. -

I can't say that I'm a particular fan of this event, but I'm not sure playing the mode is that bad for F2P players. Because, while you don't get experience or credits directly, you do get points which you can exchange for credits. Since you don't have to pay for maintenance, all credits you buy for points are pure profit. Even at an average of, say, 2000 battle points that's a profit of 150k per game, without the risk to lose credits on a bad game, which is not terrible for F2P. Personally, although I'm a pretty mediocre player by any metric, I've also occasionally finish games on 10k points, which comes out to 750k credits in a game - without paying premium or using up any flags. -

Well, UK Tier 6 BB Queen Elizabeth is also named after a dead person, so I don't really understand what your point is. -
If you want legendary modules to be mostly useless, you shouldn't expect players to pay 19k research points for them.

Detective Kléberot in Action! Murder in the Western Sea
Callidous replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I was not offended although I've played a good deal of co-op in my time, but I think the training room would've been a far more fitting punishment, seeing as you can't earn xp, credits or other rewards that way. Now that's a terrible fate, outright sisyphean.
