Slava, Ohio, Druid and Colbert I cannot comment on since I don't own em', being a DD-main. Vampire however; AW. MA. GWAD! Though not perfect the crawling/rollin' smoke fits my playing style A+. Guns are more than decent, conceal great but don't underestimate the missing heal and second set of tubes for fish's. If you feel you need this Druid is probably more the DD for you. I was in a predicament when choosing between Druid and this but went the Vampire-way. I'm so far 100% satisfied. Yolo-Italio? Hell of fun - but very, V E R Y circumstantial. I'll tend to agree with @Chaoskraehe that played right it's a beast of a ship BUT in my experience this also comes down to the enemy team underestimating it, so there's that.... Gun to my head? Vampire (or Druid). Sure Yolo is fun but the two former are more useful. And like @Gvozdika says: "(...)the option that is closest to what you currently enjoy" After all it's a game supposed to provide fun and entertainment*. *) "Read the room man" <- I'm well aware that a large portion of the forumites are of the opinion that WG are having a laugh at our expense atm.....

Ever since ranked got changed (last year?) and ranked-sprint got sacked for this signature Brawls (regardless or tier) has been the most fun this game has provided since - well, ever. The 3v3 t9 brawl last christmas (cue Wham) was fun af!

I'll most likely go for 6x3x200 steel (i.e. 9victories/14 days*) in bronze league as well a rank one in bronze for ZE FLAG! Silver and gold? Doubt it very much.... Leander & T61 will most likely be my weapons of choice. And yes; I'll also give the subs a go. *) I'm aware the first ranked-session only are 1 week.

Was saving steel for _a_ DD, but having Smaaland I'm certainly gonna hold my horses and wait for at least a few trustworthy reviews before maybe pulling the trigger. Off topic: perhaps time to get Groningen as a consolation prize?

Are the "ship-drop" list on the wiki-page still so/so accurate? And if so it's correct that the can only sub tier V ship are the CCCP Imperator from potential SC-ship drops? If it's not accurate would it be possible to have it updated if prior to what I assume will be super container drops come September? Just been through the news archive from 2018, 2019 and 2020 and for the sake of this post lets assume that "same procedure as last year"-WG checks out, then we'll get a 'first-victory' bonus consisting of a super container for each tX ship sometime during September. Over time I've accumulated quite a few premium boats just from sailing around (the majority of which I seldom use) on the flip side this narrows the possible drops if a super container should roll me a ship. Right now ships like Weimar, Ise, Mysore etc. are missing one the wiki-page, but are available in both the armoury and premium shop. This further leads to confusion as in what it is possible to obtain. Therefore I'm trying to figure out the following: A.) If WG will let us have an updated ship-drop list (preferably update the wiki-page)? B.) Confirm if "special" ships are possible to obtain through these containers or not? (RB-ships, steel-ships, ARP-ships, retired* ships etc) Based on the answers above consider if one should use accumulated coal and/doubloons on the "cheaper" ships again to potential narrow the range of drops? *) Say Enterprise, Giulio or Z39 to name a few

Disclaimer: Any animosity against the introduction of submarines should be directed elsewhere than in this thread (like that's gonna happen.... xD) TL;DR what ships you gonna sail (ish) in the upcoming ranked if you expect to encounter a submarine? Trying to be somewhat constructive what ships do you reckon are gonna be best for ranked season 4 (if there are subs in play in a given engagement) cruisers are chosen as being light cruisers (CL) thus armed with ASW. - I'll go with T61 & Leander for tier 6. BB I'm not sure about. Izmail? - At tier 8 I'm looking at Cossack & Edinburgh but not entirely sure about the latter? BB probably old trusty Bismarck due to 2nd and hydro. - tX is for me the most tricky I think. Halland & Wooster (Mino perhaps?) BB? No idea at all - really..... What would your ship picks be? Pros/cons?

I like being called stupid. Its almost like in-game.... Well, surely we can agree if the definition is the "golden age/period/epoch" (whatever that might be) where no such thing like a (attack)submarine existed then the majority of ships in the current game (say t4 and onwards) were to be relegated to permanent port-queen status, and were could steam about in our 20 knts BBs (and there were much rejoice?) As to your "google it"-remark well, remember mate this is a game. Not your high school naval history thematic week, even though the WG-marketing department does a pretty good job spoon-feeding the CIS-player base with what generously would be classified as "fake history" from time to time.

If the last public test is anything of an indication and keeping in mind it's 7v7 with a maximum of two subs/team I reckon that avid DD and light cruiser players are gonna have a so/so field day. Yes the subs are, what's the word, tricky to engage but nowhere as much as the CV's. And the DDs and CL imho has descent ASW-tools. Mostly I fear for the heavy cruisers and non-ASW BBs as they will be hard pressed to engage the subs regardless - until it surfaces. And I still cannot understand that two years in since the announcement the majority of the comments are along the line: "bUt YoU sAiD nO SuBmArInEs EvAh!!11one" "TiMe To UnInStAlL" etc. Well, then do just that. If not, embrace that WG loooong ago took the decision to add subs and that this decision is unlikely to be reversed. And then improvise, adept and overcome the challenge. Edit: To clarify; I think subs as a concept is über cool in a game like this. However I tend to agree that previous changes/additions hasn't been executed as smoothly as one could hope (CV-rework, I'm looking at you) so to a degree it seems fair to be if not outright frightened then worried what this might do to the game overall.

Amongst many suggestions this seems to be the logical one. Regardless of your class you should in almost all circumstances hold you position/flank and engage the enemy with whatever weaponry are at your disposal --- and don' run off joining a lemming train or something like that. You might be outgunned by higher tiers or outplayed by better players. The former is part of the MM-magic *sigh* the latter is the best way to improve your game.
