i have experienced strong performance / fps drops with this update.
I'm on an older (2013) iMAC. I had similar issues a few months ago, then,after the integration of theGame Center all was well & excellent, getting 50+ fps always.
Now i'm back down to <20 in some situations - not always - without any changes from my side. Seems to depend on number of ships rendered in my FOV. No ships in sight, all is well with fps >50.
It seems to me this is not because of my machine but because of some changes in the software, since it was just perfect before this last update.
