Kearsarge to be released tomorrow
Miscommunication_dept replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
It has better dpm and accuracy than either Hizen or Pommern It has a big health pool. If you swapped the flight deck and planes for a normal superstructure, it would still be a good tier 9 battleship. So for the cost of a large flight deck you get a squadron of planes. I don't thin its hard at all to use rocket planes on slower targets, learning to use them on destroyers takes a bit more time of course. Once you learn the lead time it's actually very easy. One of the best things is when you know there is a destroyer in a certain area but it's unspotted, you can fly your planes to target, initiate attack then you have about 10s of spotting to fire your guns. It feels quite naughty. The slow shells are a blessing and curse: they take a while to get down range but overpen less than other shells Against a Smolensk the Kearsarge can full pen the citadel at about 12km, in the Pommern it's close to 18km. I thinks it's a strong and fairly unique ship with plane spotting getting over one of the usual battleship weaknesses. -

I agree, it's also a good balancing factor as the ship is quite strong. I'd just like to know. -

Noticing that the Kearsarge superstructure does not seem to saturate like other ships. Can anyone in the know confirm whether the superstructure has it's own HP like a superstructure or whether it forms part of the casemate for saturation purposes. Thank you. @MrConway @Crysantos @YabbaCoe -
First Steel ship - Guide me please!
Miscommunication_dept replied to Matt_FSR's topic in General Discussion
If you don’t like Moskva you’re right to avoid Stalingrad. Playstyle is similar but it’s far moreAP focused but 60s fires suck on a huge immobile platform that can be seen from space. Plymouth does seem to take citadels like a Minotaur from my experience shooting it. -
First Steel ship - Guide me please!
Miscommunication_dept replied to Matt_FSR's topic in General Discussion
I don’t have Austin, Plymouth or Ragnar but for Me Ragnar will be my next steel ship. Bourgogne is very nice and to be honest a hybrid cruiser battleship. Really a lot of fun and very effective. Stalingrad is strong but just so awkward now. -
subs are not ready to enter public server and are bugged like hell

Subs are terrible but not for any of the reasons mentioned by OP. -

That delay can be quite useful: Find DD with planes Press attack to begin animation. Return to ship and fire guns Drink salty DD tears This also seems to work in cyclones but i need to try it again to test. EDIT: Just did this with a poor neustrashimy, his superheal could not save him. The combination of spotting, rockets and artillery could be very effective in the right hands. -

Yes I did use a lot of HE there but I feel AP is probably the way to go with stacking dot as a secondary strategy. The AP is really quite nice and like the north cal, doesn’t overpen to much. -

Thanks for that, that bit of plating is tiny and insignificant. -

Really? IME the rocket change has not affected plane choice, only target choice. -

Montana guns in number only. it’s got slightly better dpm but worse pen and flight speed than Iowa. Also a worse heal. However, even without planes this ship looks balanced with other tier 9 battleships. It should be strong overall. -

It's fairly standard that steel ships have better stats than tech tree ships. -

I held off on the Ise and Tone so I think I’m buying this later. Sorry to all who’ll have to look at it. -

Well it's in the armory for coal and in the premium shop but not available for doubloons. Is this intentional? @YabbaCoe -

Buff Siegfried's secondaries
Miscommunication_dept replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
Not at all, you look at many elements of a ship to decide whether you want it or not. The decision made then is subjective. I bought it as a cheeky, stealthy secondary cruiser. You don’t have to share my opinion on this -
Perth is a very strong Tier 6 cruiser T 7 is a bad tier for cruisers. If you can push to tier 8 there are some far better cruisers. Perth does fairly well, even when low tier.

ST 0.10.10, changes to test ships (DB 239)

Range and concealment. Delny has better torps but guns are the appeal of this ship. Now look at Grozovoi: better range and dpm, far better concealment and the ability to have smoke AND a heal. At this point, it will need 50mm plating across the entire ship to make it interesting. -

You are missing the point entirely. I bought it for a meme secondary cruiser. If I wanted a sniper, the Slava would be a better buy. -

Really no good reason to get the Delny, the Tashkent is better. -
