Druid or Vampire 2 (or possibly Gibraltar)

The druid also kills the Minotaur when bow in. the higher dpm and better dispersion mean it can out damage the mino. If the Mino tries to turn to torp, it will eat a dozen citadels for it's trouble. Kleber vs Druid bow in you have a Kleber with 70,000 dpm vs a Druid's 277,000 dpm. Some will not pen of course but most will pen turrets and superstructure and even when these things are saturated, Druid retains a substantial dpm advantage. I can't recall having this happen against a Kleber but I've had many Marceau try to bow in on my Druid. They either trade unfavourably and die or turn to torp and die.

Tier VIII Cruiser: Which do you think is best?

Mainz for He penetration, fire chance and AP dpm. Bayard if you want to get a little closer and blap DDs while zipping around the map.

    Value per New Year Certificate

Mega containers give large amounts of special flags with a high drop rate. I will be going all mega for these flags and any potato ships that are gifted me.

Druid or Vampire 2 (or possibly Gibraltar)

Overmatch? No but you can bury a lot of shells in turrets and superstructure and the DD you’re fighting will be unable to get all its guns to bear and in most cases will be at half dpm and be unable to launch torps. Usually they end up losing turrets, turning to torp then melting. Many destroyers also have flat sterns so take a lot of pens when running away. Destroyers angling is far less of a problem than you might think.

    And half the dpm.

Druid or Vampire 2 (or possibly Gibraltar)

Vampire would surely be better in competitive. You buy Druid for a unique playstyle and it's ability to deal with all classes. Vampire is a chief cap contester, probably the best as long as their are no radar ships around.

Druid or Vampire 2 (or possibly Gibraltar)

Druid is amazing fun and there is nothing like it in game. It's like a tiny Des moines with smoke. It absolutely melts destroyers that give even a hint of broadside even the likes of Ragnar. It can also farm very well and can really hurt all kinds of cruisers at close range. I never wish I was in another ship while playing my Druid. Vampire looks like a Daring sidegrade, the long smoke downtime and lack of heal make it uninteresting to me so I have not bought it. Make no mistake though, a good player using smoke and hydro is hard to stop without radar backup. Gibraltar is really fun, it's AP hits destroyers very hard and overmatches smolensks and Minotaurs. I do think it gives up a little too much compared to a Goliath though. For me I would recommend Druid first of all so many destroyers and cruisers still don't seem to understand what it can do.

    How to Spend your Steel?

Stalingrad is still excellent but its very static in gameplay and now is number one target for fires. Best guns in the game though. If you don't like Moskva, it might not be the best choice. Ragnar looks excellent and will be my purchase next week, It is certainly more a farmer than Smalland though as it has much better shell speed and accuracy. With Implacable and the new russian supercruiser coming, saving steel is not a bad option

    Yolo Emilio AA nerfed HARD

Pretty much but it was still enough to kill some fighters or make CVs have to think about whether they want to keep the paolo spotted. Won't change much for plane kills but it will be frustrating at times.

    Yolo Emilio AA nerfed HARD

It’s historical accuracy guys. And I’m sure no problem with a 3.7km air detection. Paolo already had poor AA and it’s Yolo capacity badly hurt by CVs. This just makes that problem worse. A CV can keep it perma spotted for as long as it wants.

Not sure how much fun a Tashkent would be with an 8km range.

Bravo WG (Satan container drop rates, CV spotting)

It's a big improvement certainly. I think my whaling days are still over but It will help people to make informed decisions

Satan crate drop rates and ship list

Important info from Ahskance: As there are multiple groups of "Ships" in the upcoming Santa Containers, I figured I'd try to be a bit proactive and get you folks some information about how the Drop Chances change when you've got all the ships in a specific group. --- I'm going to use the Santa's Mega Container numbers for this example Ship Groups together account for 16% Drop Chance. Tier 5-7 Ships: 12% Tier 8-9 Ships: 3% Tier X and Rare: 1% Example 1: Situation: A player has all the available ships in the Tier 5-7 Group. The Santa's Mega Container will continue to have a 16% Drop Chance for "Ships", so the Drop Chance is distributed proportionally amongst the remaining two groups. This will look at the Ratio of the remaining groups, and distribute amongst them such to maintain that ratio. As the remaining groups have 3% and 1% respectively, we see there is a 3-to-1 ratio between them. This will be used to apportion the Drop Chance from the disabled group. Tier 5-7 ships: 0% (no available ships to attain disables this Group) Tier 8-9 ships: 12% (3% increased by 3/4ths of the disabled group's Drop Chance) Tier X and Rare: 4% (1% increased by 1/4th of the disabled group's Drop Chance) Example 2: Situation: A player has all the available ships in the Tier 8-9 Group. The Santa's Mega Container will continue to have a 16% Drop Chance for "Ships", so the Drop Chance is distributed proportionally amongst the remaining two groups. This will look at the Ratio of the remaining groups, and distribute amongst them such to maintain that ratio. As the remaining groups have 12% and 1% respectively, we see there is a 12-to-1 ratio between them. This will be used to apportion the Drop Chance from the disabled group. Tier 5-7 ships: 14.75% (12% increased by 11/12ths of the disabled group's Drop Chance) Tier 8-9 ships: 0% (no available ships to attain disables this Group) Tier X and Rare: 1.25% (1% increased by 1/12th of the disabled group's Drop Chance) Example 3: Situation: A player has all the available ships in the Tier 5-7 Group AND the Tier 8-9 Group. The Santa's Mega Container will continue to have a 16% Drop Chance for "Ships", so the Drop Chance is distributed proportionally amongst the remaining two groups. This will look at the Ratio of the remaining groups, and distribute amongst them such to maintain that ratio. There is only one remaining group. This will be used to apportion the Drop Chance from the disabled groups. Tier 5-7 ships: 0% (no available ships to attain disables this Group) Tier 8-9 ships: 0% (no available ships to attain disables this Group) Tier X and Rare: 16% (1% increased by 100% of the disabled groups' Drop Chance) ------ Has this been helpful? Lemme know! https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/248099-santa-crates-ships-groups-drop-chance-explanation/

BB Fire Prevention Skill: Is it really worth it?

Going from four to three fire nodes is very powerful. In my gunboat destroyer, any battleship without it becomes target number one. For a battleship, fire prevention is the best tier 4 skill.

    Bearn imminent?

Bearn, the fighter carrier to battle the new Soviet CVs. Soviet CVs are almost impervious to fighters btw.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Still love this ship, now my most played. Potatoed into torps from a Mino in the end but took him first!
  18. It's happenng boys!! Tier 10 ships in crates. The drop odds look similar to the odds discovered in previous years crates. @YabbaCoe Would you be able to confirm or deny whether the odds needed to be changed before being publicised? Thank you
  19. Sounds pretty good. Will stop the beginning of map CV sniping though. Why now? Anything to do with subs?

    Another coal thread

I wouldn’t get a commander unless you’ve got most coal ships you want and at least 2 premiums that will make use of them. Lutjens works well in all German classes but unless you have several ships you can use him on you’ll be better off with a ship.

    Another coal thread

Napoli and Marceau are two of the most fun ships in the game. I think Napoli is more fun but Marceau is probably stronger. I would usually suggest Marceau as first coal purchase as it’s so strong. But if you don’t like DDs,it would be a poor choice.

Yoshino, Napoli or Moskva for PvE?

Not for coop surely. Coop seems to be a race to charge in and brawl. Moskva is not great at that. Napoli is probably the best for this.

    Izumo Iowa Comparison

Look further! Neither is great but Yamato is far better thanMontana. That overmatch seems to be power creep proof!

True, but it can still be improved as @Eagle_Six_TR asserted.

30 minutes waiting in ranked gold qualification

When I see how many full time streamers are still in bronze you can see that getting to good requires a strong commitment. I got to golf yesterday but I was only waiting 5-10 minutes. There are so few playing that you start to understand certain players tactics. My biggest problem with ranked gold was how many Ragnars there are!!
