Coal Ships In The Armory
Miscommunication_dept replied to AbashedLemming's topic in General Discussion
Jean Bart or posssibly wait for Yoshino. Salem is usually considered a weaker Des moines. The Des moines is cheaper. Dues to it's armour, guns and speed boost I drive her like a battlecruiser. You will need to use HE sometimes but it has a good fire chance and is very effective. Then a ship goes broadside, switch to AP with main battery reload and shoot 3 salvos into the broadside. -
Good DPM and fire chance but the 100mm guns don't penetrate anything. I still have Manual secondaries and AFT on mine but due to armour profiles and the lack of pen the opportunities to use them are few.

ST, changes to test ships and Le Terrible
Miscommunication_dept replied to Sehales's topic in Development Blog
Conqueror looks exciting. Still it’s only testing? Le terrible buff should be fun. -
Friedrich der Große 183 secondary hits 0 damage. Not acceptable

Was he broadside to you? If so your IFHE secondaries will not pen his belt. Your main guns would work beautifully though. The Yamato taking 2/3 of your health is surprising. GK is almost invulnerable to citadels so a 70K salvo is unlikely. -

Add IFHE to the FDG, GK or Massachusetts and it's a lot more than a meme build. It can be made to work. I regularly get more secondary and fire damage than AP damage in my GK. I expect I average at more than a third secondary and fire damage. I think the problem is it is a very different style of combat. The GK and FDG need to be close, they have hydro and secondaries to protect you from destroyers. Most battleships should be played very differently -

The Republique would have melted if you had IFHE. I do agree that secondaries aiming for the most heavily armoured parts of a ship is silly. -
Cv and quality of life idea for surface ships

Please no more AA control. We have to fight ships as well! -
Well JeanBart and Musashi are definitely better. The USN heal buff means the Iowa is not far behind the Missouri. I don’t play itmuch at all.
-
1 vs 3 in your example? Why stack the odds like that?

Don't approach caps with a DD in. You can follow your DDs in quite closely if the enemy is committed to the other side this is very helpful if you can get away with it. In most cases you should be using hard cover to stop everyone shooting at you. If you are supported you can hold a cap down at close range better than any battleship. Your guns scare cruisers, your secondaries destroyers and the combination(especially with IFHE) can do alot of damage to battleships no matter how they angle. It's a strong ship at close range, figure out a way of getting there without having every ship focus you and you will do well.

50mm repels all HE except Hindenburg Henri IFHE Battleship HE Super (large) cruiser HE All other cruiser HE even with IFHE cannot pen 50mm armour. IFHE is not a big threat to the GK. Fires are: install modules and flags and you'll be fine. GK is a big tank but you have to play it differently to other nation's battleships.
-
GK is weak in some ways sure. Don’t go toe to toe with other battleships at range. I’d rather tackle two Yamato’s under 10km in my IFHE GK than one at 15-20km. This ship is a brawler if you can position yourself well it becomes an amazing ship.

I've been enjoying the Henri reverently. I have tried IFHE and it's great against Moskvas and Stalingrads but in randoms I don't see too many of them. Would I be better off getting demolition expert? the difference is a 25% percent increase in fire chance. Or I could get rid of expert loader or Priority target and have both? Opinions?

IFHE or Demolition expert for Henri?
Miscommunication_dept replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Ok, I've spent some time without concealment expert with a 16.1km detection. It seems to only be a problem at the start of the battle. With the steering gears mod instead of concealment I already had a 14.5km detection, once the battle starts you are perma spotted with either build unless you hide behind an island. Getting close to the legendary and 17+km detection..... -
Queen Elizabeth - any point having as well as Warspite?
Miscommunication_dept replied to gustywinds's topic in General Discussion
Does the QE give a different experience to the Warspite? It does have better HE but with 380mm guns at T6 why would you use HE? Your AP overmatches everything. Warspite has a better heal and better turret traverse. QE has slightly better range. The QE's shorter fuse time allows for fewer overpens on those tier 5 paper cruiser citadels. -
One thing with the Kronstadt is that you actually want cruisers to angle or you overpen the citadel. As you said the accuracy is not great but that pen works for you against battleships where accuracy becomes less of an issue. I believe Kronstadt is the anti battleship super cruiser while the Alaska is more anti cruiser. I’m not sure where the Azuma sits.

"stalingrad" with torpedos = yoshino ?
Miscommunication_dept replied to remenberMYname's topic in General Discussion
I remember chatting to Stalingrad at the start of the match. We were talking about his AA. Suddenly some planes appeared than disappeared. A few seconds later the Stalin received a rev strike from a Montana. The stalingrad is OP but it has real weaknesses. -
Kronstadt is longer but lower and I believe it has close to 300mm of armour on it as it has an extra 90mm around the citadel. An angled Kronstadt will bounce AP very well.
-
True, I’ve been really surprised by the potentancy of the Henri at long range. Azuma citadel? Angled Moskva no problem and unlike the super cruisers it has great HE when ships are angled.

Yoshino will almost certainly be weak compared to the Stalingrad. I just hope it’s morevthsn just an Azuma with torps and a little 30mm plating.
