IFHE/ plating changes new post in NA forum
Miscommunication_dept posted a topic in General Discussion
I thought I should bring this to the attention of this forum as some of the parameters being tested have changed: https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/211171-changes-to-ifhe-and-plating/ Seems to me that tier 7 cruisers will be seriously hobbled by these changes. 380mm battleships will also struggle. 429mm and above battleships will probably benefit. The changes make me nervous though I do like that they are looking at IFHE. -
IFHE/ plating changes new post in NA forum

Copy/paste from that link: We continue to test the modified plating for cruisers and Tier VI-VII battleships as well as the updated "Inertia Fuse for HE Shells" skill. Today we would like to tell you about the upcoming changes and the reasoning behind them. We are going to closely monitor the impact of these changes on both the general game balance and the individual battle efficiency of certain ships. If necessary, the IFHE skill and some ships may yet be subject to additional balance corrections to maintain their efficiency. The main goals we want to achieve with these changes: The interaction between cruisers of the same Tier should be obvious. For example, cruiser HE shells with a caliber of 152 - 155 mm should penetrate the armor of cruisers of the same tier without additional conditions. This will make gameplay on certain cruisers more comfortable and make the "Inertia Fuse for HE Shells" skill optional for them; Increase cruisers' survivability: changes to plating thickness will make cruisers more resistant to battleship salvos if the positioning is correct; Use differences in armor to maintain the uniqueness of cruisers with a gun caliber of 190 mm or more compared to those with a caliber of 139 to 189 mm: the first group of ships will have a central "box" of increased armor plating and the second one will have only an improved deck; Maintain inter-class interaction in its current state: cruisers with 152-155 mm caliber will still not be able to penetrate the plating of same-Tier battleships without the "Inertia Fuse for HE Shells" skill. Rebalance the "Inertia Fuse for HE Shells" skill so that the combination of its positives and negatives affects player choice, thereby making the skill non-essential and encouraging variation in cruiser commander builds. Changelog: The "Inertia fuse for HE shells" skill is changed as follows: HE shell armor penetration boost will depend on the Tier of the ship. Tier I-VII ships: +25% HE shell armor penetration; Tier VIII-X ships: +30% HE shell armor penetration. Now the skill will reduce the chance to cause fire by 50% instead of subtracting 1% or 3% depending on the caliber. The penalty only affects the basic chance to set fire. Other bonuses, like, for example, from the "Victor Lima" signal or the "Demolition Expert" skill, will increase the chance to set fires in the same way as before. The skill gave a sizable boost without a correspondingly significant penalty, which made it almost mandatory. The new variant will bring the efficiency of the skill back to normal. The rule for calculating armor penetration of all HE and SAP shells was changed: currently, an HE shell will only penetrate armor thicknesses lower than the shell's penetration value. With the change, an HE shell will not only be able to penetrate armor thicknesses that are lower than its penetration value, but also those that are equal to it. In this way, 152 mm shells on a Tier VII cruiser will be able to penetrate 25 mm plating, whereas currently, the penetration is 24 mm. For Tier VIII - X ships with 152-155 mm caliber guns, the rule of 1/5 of the caliber will be applied when calculating their HE shells' armor penetration. The above change will let HE shells of these ships penetrate up to 30 mm of plating on Tier VIII-X cruisers. With the changes, cruisers with 152-155 mm guns will be able to penetrate each other's armor without the need for the "Inertia fuse for HE shells" skill. Changes in the armor plating of cruisers and battleships Changes in plating will increase the survivability of cruisers: if positioned properly, they will become more resistant to battleship fire at range, because AP shells hitting at an acute angle will ricochet off the plating. Tier X cruisers already benefit from this. Meanwhile, cruisers with guns of a 190 mm caliber and higher will have their hull and deck armor increased, and cruisers with smaller caliber guns will only have the central part of the deck armor increased, which is done to emphasize the difference between light and heavy cruisers. Detailed values of the thickness of cruisers' armor plating are available in the table at the end of the text. Due to the change of the rule for calculating armor penetration of all the HE and SAP shells, the plating of Tier VI-VII battleships is changed to 26 mm - so that interclass interaction remains unchanged. Please note: the table shows the minimum plating thickness for each tier! Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary and subject to change. -
LOL russian cruisers split coming next

Lol these stats must be a joke! How can they balance ships with these stats?? Citadel in the superstructure? -
Did anyone receive the t2 premium cruiser Albany recently?
Miscommunication_dept replied to Captain_Newman's topic in General Discussion
Yes from steam by following, I think after one year you get a Stalingrad. -
MrConway in the American cruiser split: was mounted on a ship to be replaced, it will remain mounted on this ship and a new permanent camouflage (for the added ship) will be added to the player's account. source:https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/101055-us-cruiser-changes-how-will-you-be-affected/ Of course there is no guarantee that similar rules will apply for this split but I’d probably expect it to be similar.

You can't, too many variables could end up with the same total number. with just the damage divided by shell hits you don;t know the difference between 1 citadel and 9 shatters or 10 overpens. Of course there are far more possibilities. The Bhaji is exactly as accurate as the yamato as it has the same dispersion and the same sigma at equal distance, This was once the most accurate battleship, not anymore. I'm with you though. That golden pig head is ugly and ridiculous.

Seeing a lot of Donskois and Moskvas since the announcement...

How many "Tier X" lines have you reset for the "Research Bureau" purpose thus far?
Miscommunication_dept replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I might not do it again, happy to have the Ohio but the cost is high. I think I might look again when I have at least 3,000,000 free XP and over 100 million credits. I believe this was developed for those who already have these massive surpluses so it does serve a purpose. -

Soviet cruisers 3 times and IJn toro destroyers once. not sure if that’s 2 or 4 For the purposes of the survey. -

They must have forgotten to add the Stalinium. -
It would be nice if they did the same to the Kronstadt, they'd probably have to move it to tier 10 though.
-
Moskvas legendary is very good and fits the ship perfectly. Worth the grind.
-
The real question is who is going to buy the coal Moskva? Even those who don’t like the Russian line are grinding it and will all have it before it becomes premium.

I play mine with radio location, no chance of a DD sneaking up on me while I’m parked without getting radared. radio location means my guns will be pointing at your when I radar.

OK, so the Bajie/Izumo.....

I got rid of the pig captain immediately. I did have a spare 10 pointer though. its a good ship but I would never recommend it over the Georgia or Jean Bart. Sometimes it’s accuracy is very nice and so far it’s the only ship I have been able to citadel a Puerto Rico in. I bought it with my 30% coupon as nothing else seemed interesting. I’m not sure if I regret it yet! -

Bismarck dilemma for first 3 point skill?
Miscommunication_dept replied to vaapad_master's topic in General Discussion
Superintendant you could take basics of survivability instead but I prefer SI. I specced out of BFT even with my IFHE secondary Bismarck, super intendent is far more useful. If you want to go mad with secondaries then I would take demoltition expert over BFT as bft increases secondary dpm by 10%, demolition expert increases secondary fire chance by 40% or 50% if you spec into IFHE. -
I can't citadel a broadside Kremlin in my GK at 4km, probably a bad example. Moskva is probably better against angled battleships due to HE dpm. Though Stalingrad has an amazing fire chance. Of course, Stalingrad can punish broadsides and very well angled cruisers beautifully.
-
Smolensk will probably never be back but the playstyle quickly becomes boring. Jean Bart could come back though Kronstadt Missouri and Musashi still haven't. I would at least expect to see the Kronstadt back before we see Jean Bart again.

Russian ships are He/Him not She/Her. How dare you mis-gender him!.....
-
Yes it's worth it as it's a very unique ship. It's a ship where you position yourself and park always keeping bow on to the enemy, in this way you can tank 3 million potential damage while setting fires. It's AP is great at citadelling cruisers at long range and some battleships at close range but ovepens against lightly armoured cruisers when broadside. Be aware, There is no ship that feeds battleship AP into it's citadel as well as a broadside Moskva!!
-
Tuning the guns to be less accurate at max range makes me think they’ll have good armour.
-
Bizarre. I have the legendary and perm Camo on my Moskva. As reward ships come with a camo is there any kind of compensation for the 5,000 I paid on the perm camo? I assume the legendary will fit either the new tier 10 or the Moskva? looking forward to more information on this. I really enjoy Russian cruisers and am on T8 on my third reset!!

Georgia or Jean Bart?
Miscommunication_dept replied to _Conan_Librarian_'s topic in General Discussion
The small guns are a problem for the Jean Bart I’m not sure which is better but they are both very strong, probably stronger than any other T9 battleship. As others have said, the Thunderer is probably the second best battleship in the game and a lot of fun!
