The Problem with ranked is that the best ship is the ship you can reliably top the score cards on your team. A Unicum cannot guarantee a win but being top of the score cards secures your star. As others have said the Destroyer is the game changer but if the team doesn't support it it dies fast a good players win rate may be fast but the chances of dying early are just too high. For me I have been using Thunderer and Yamato.

IFHE secondary is extremely fun and if you could pick an enemy team of french battleships(32mm all over)very VERY effective. In the next pathc you will no even need IFHE to pen 32mm. Alas so many russian battleships out there mean that the pen advantage of German secondaries is rendered ineffective. The lack of secondary accuracy means that a DD that knows what they are doing doesn't need to fear them as they would with american secondary ships. The increase i the amount of fire spitters such as the smolensk means that even a tanky ship is rapidly drained. Once upon a time, when I was grinding the legendary, the IFHE secondary build was deadly. At this time 32mm battleships were all around and the greatest fire risk was the Wooster. Alas,I now feel I have to concede that secondary is no longer the best way to spec the GK. If we get a period of free captain resets in the next patch I will finally attempt a tank build on the GK. Wargaming has given the best secondaries to the US premiums.....

I had a 300k game in my Smolensk and only used one smoke. Kiting 4 German BBs with that manoeuvrability and bouncing shells of then 30mm sections is surprisingly effective.

Does anyone else remember when CVs were supposed to be the anti BB class?

A many times I have been attacked by a T8 CV and killed almost all his planes before his panicked attack that then misses. Most don't try a second attack. As others have said, with a T10 CV it's different, it will cost them to drop me but they will manage and even get a second attack.

It’s the only destroyer I have where I look forward to double CV games!

It will be a ‘special ship’ that many players will have. I doubt it will get a buff and don’t think it needs it. The shorter fuse time would be nice though.

Against a very select group of targets. I am strongly against IFHE on french battleships even before IFHE changes go through. I used to have IFHE on my GK as it would then pen 32mm and melt french and british battleships. with all the Soviet battleships around it's no longer worth it. To spend 4 points on IFHE just to pen superstructure or, in Republiques case, cruisers bow and stern is a waste.

The 100mm secondaries on these ships don’t pen T8 cruisers with or without IFHE, now or after these changes. Do you mean the Republique? With IFHE they pen 26mm regardless of whether these changes occur. Which secondaries are you concerned about?

T7 light cruisers are the worse hit by this. Even with IFHE they cannot pen T8 battleships that They see all the time. they don’t receive any armour buff so are just as vulnerable. They continue to have far worse concealment than their T8 counterparts due to the lack of concealment module. 380mm armed battleships will suffer but not as badly.

JB is a better ship IMO but Smolensk is a tier 10 and might never be seen again. Smolensk is also the fastest way to lose karma besides the carriers. Though I would expect the Jean Bart to come back I would have said the same about the Kronstadt and that still hasn’t returned a year later.

Try playing DD. You’ll have a lot more respect for what they have to go through to become good.

155mm will still pen 38mm with IFHE. Shame that Bayard is losing its special pen. Probably needs a buff now....
