Thunderer' low skill floor is a real problem. If I wanted to guarantee a 100k battle, I would take Thunderer every time. It's ability to fire at long range with amazing HE alpha and fire chance makes it very strong. It's one of the strongest battleships but I don't think it's OP. Lord Mountbatten is a battleship main so it's not surprising that he dislikes a Thunderer. He also called Colbert 'Colbroke' in a recent video. I don't think many would agree that Colbert is overpowered but against battleships when there are islands away it is a real pest and difficult to deal with. I view this as akin to destroyer players disliking CV and radar. Wargaming really should look at what it's like to play AGAINST their new ships, not just how fun it is to play them.

Ah ok, I’m thinking more of upper belt and bow shots when ships are angled at the nominal auto bounce angle of 60 degrees. I do agree though that there are many other ships that would deal with a bow on ship better. Thanks for your previous advice about the Bourgogne. I’m having a lot of fun with it!

How are you defining ‘broadside’?

55 degrees really isn’t much of an angle and with penetration of close to 200mm battleship bows will not ricochet. Ships angle to shoot their guns and you are still penetrating rather well. Of course, superstructure pens and HE remain a better option the with the Riga or Tallin due to the much better accuracy. This thing is like a mini Stalingrad when top tier!

No it has the same angles they used to have before they were nerfed in testing.

Bagration has better ricochet angles and much better, cruiser dispersion. You still want broadsides but it doesn’t feel as situational as Petro and Riga.

P. Bagration plays nothing like Atago. its a fairly tanky cruiser with better AP and dispersion than the tech tree tallin. Very poor firing angles mean you need to position well and it’s a poor kiter Mainz and Bayard are both excellent HE spammers. Mainz has Des moine level AP dpm while the more fragile Bayard zips around with great concealment. It sets fires and ambushes destroyers with its reload booster. p. Bagration is very strong but the Mainz and Bayard are excellent. You will not be disappointed with either!!

I actually run georgia with the secondary module but with my Halsey tank build. Unlike Massa and Ohio, the Georgia really benefits from expert marksman. If you do spec EM and of course Adrenaline rush, you cannot have a full secondary with fire prevention. Also, Georgia’s great speed and accurate guns make it great at ambushing broadsides. Lacking concealment, as you would with a secondary build, limits the effectiveness of that tactic.

Wargaming used the Champagne to test the concept of a low armour battleship sniper. For some reason Champagne received supercruiser dispersion while Slava received a special dispersion formula with much lower vertical dispersion and long range horizontal dispersion in exchange for very bad close range dispersion. Did Wargaming ever state why this was the case?

Why necro this? Most legendary upgrades have been changed so the rest of this thread is no longer relevant.

I’m not arguing that the battleship with I believe the second worst dispersion in the game has better guns than the ship with the forth best. I am saying that having 12 guns, to some extent, makes up for the poor accuracy.

@MrConway @Crysantos Is there a way to send replays for unsporting behaviour? I was in a battle just now with one player who took his DD to the back line and repeatedly, intentionally torped team mates. Thank you

I'm still hoping they make Hizen good in some way. I'd love it if Wargaming buffed the Kii's secondaries to 7.5km and gave it Amagi turtleback. They could do Hizen in the same way and end up with IJN brawlers....

I was one of those saying that the Pommern's dispersion would be terrible and I would never have bought it. I won the Pommern in a crate and although the guns are not that accurate, they really are not bad at all. 12 shells in the air tends to mean, even with this sigma, that something goes where you aimed it. Lack of overmatch is annoying but the alpha is very nice for devstriking broadside cruisers. If a Des moines goes bow in simply target your secondaries on him and shoot at something else until he melts!

They are both great but Georgia will cycle out of the store before the Pommern. Go with Georgia but save up to buy Pommern with your next coupon.
