and that might be the problem then I guess on this ship for ranked arms racd 6vs6. (less in randoms). With the playstyle you describe, it will be difficult to Support directly and early on against DDs. This might result in enemy DDs getting an advantage and possibly middle map control (more buffs, worst case the only heal buff in some distributions). You will not sink a CA/BB early in the time they rip apart your own DD. Musashi at least can overmatch everything - but they tend to get outplayed sitting back sniping in this Scenario at lower ranks... Rather FdG then - going tanky and secondaries... I can fully relate to what you wrote on the Iowa - shredded those few I saw that way when they try to go in. Even Kron found their cita with ease...

Txufus - it is fine to load HE first and shoot/blep DDs early - particularly in Arms race and particularly if there is 3 or more DDs on a Team. At the same time you need to find a driving path for your BB that includes some escape route (to get behind and Island if focused or to kite a away). Dont have the Iowa though but it seems it is not the best pick yet... Overall - you have a winrate of 48% in randoms (45% in rank 8-9) - if you do not manage to improve this significantly, rank 10-6 will be the max you can reach. Try eg.training vids from the well known youtubers - flamu has got some quite good ones on different ships... Remember this is the "real" ranked on which you need some 55% WR (400 games then from 10 -> 1) and a good star saving rate (to reduce the 400 games...) to really progress...

Amazing - I had a 2% higher Overall winrate but it took me about 50 games more to rank out. You must be master of saving stars. Wow - in Musashi and Black. How did you achieve that? Thats great!

Not sure if you got me right on this one. I would not be in favour of overcomlicating things. A plain, purely random match making without pre-selection is perfectly fine (maybe just balancing Radar Counts). Statistics will sort out the rest. Ranked right now might not yet be sorted enough since we are early in the season and only hundred or so have ranked out, but that will happen in the coming days -> you will finde more equally skilled Players in the leagues. And the fact that we have less ranks than normal does not really help. Rest assured - good players will find their way... this is ranked - it is supposed to be hard! As with everything in life - concentrate on what YOU can influence. Get your own winrate up by improving your playstyle and captain setups. Enjoy the game - get better - and soon you might start to outplay "noobs". Then you might start to carry teams... There is people out there with 10k and more games and a WR of 45% - and of course it is always the teams fault....arrrrgh (what captain do you have on your Musashi btw.? - its your only T9...)

I had this in my last season (season 10 - first time I had a T10). And I could not get it either - how can I have loosing streaks of 8-10 games and more? SEVERAL TIMES? I reached rank five and then - loosing streak - back to 8. Then - winning streak - back to 5....strange. Statistically this should not happen - or very rarely...in the end I played not well and only had one weak ship. The only constant factor is you....unfortunately... A skill based MM would not solve this - it would regulate it maybe and push back excellent Players to weaker stats as they always have to play with lots compensation noobs...Which for sure is not fun at all. Such a MM would work in a way to get everyone back to 50%....I think I would rather want a truely randam MM throughout - maybe with some radar balancing... (Imagine a Super Unicum who gets 3 45% WR noobs on the Team, just to compensate for his 65% Performance...oh dear...) One additional irrevocable rank is just a psychological thing which increases your number of saved stars a bit at a certain point. but thats it. It will not help much to progress. On the con side, people having nothing to loose would try out ships and things and might ruin the experience of others. You need to get your winrate up by playing better....otherwise - you will not progress. This is not ranked sprint where bonus stars boost performance and you can rank out easily below 50% WR. WR of 55% -> that is 400 games from 10 to 1 if you do not save stars.... that is a long grind...

Meta might be different in 10-6 - and Musashi is with 16% really the most played ship. So yes - if you face 3 Musashis in a game its a bit harder... Rank 5-1 I have not seen so many of them - maybe 1 max 2 per game.... I ranked out yesterday playing mainly Kron and JB (63% WR and 73% WR). Btw. - a Mushi easily takes a 10k volley from you too bow on in a JB. Just shoot HE :-) But in General - tactic is to avoid this of course. You are fast and sneaky in a JB. You flank and get the juicy side of sit-back-Mushi. (Till he turns his guns he ate at least 3 AP volleys broadside...) Since you are fast you can also disengage easily (always have an Exit plan in mind in a JB) What worked best for me - fight Musashis indirectly by supporting your DD. HE loaded and reload Booster ready and you can support an early kill of an enemy DD so he is free to torp the slow Musashi later while you kite away or hide a bit. No Musashi can/will be able to do this early in the game - they will be too far away to hit... And Lord - those 5-8k HE volleys hurt DDs... Overall - JB's are more demanding/difficult to play in my opinion (heavy cruiser style) - but also more impactful and rewarding. Musashi is somewhat a save bet to save more stars. I lost way more often in Musashi but kept my start about every 2nd time... (Stats wise both run a 50,97% WR Overall - Musashi played by 15,9% and JB by 6.5% of the Players). Top of the Stats are according wow numbers: Jutland (53,41% WR, played by 5%) Kronshtadt (53,09% WR played by 5,5%) Black (52,91% WR played by 3,5%) then Kitakaze, Missouri, Buffalo, Musashi, Jean Bart... Yugomo, Izumo and Tashkent worst performing - oh wonder...

Unfortunately yes - as you have 48% something Winrate overall there is no way to progress if you do not improve this significantly. But those ranked seasons I found always a good way to improve skills. Jean Bart is a great ship for this ranked version I find. Fast, pushy, and firepower on demand. I run it with 70% WR so far and hope to rank out soon (Rank 2 at the moment). (JB and Kron perform best for me - but always an individual thing). Check your captain skill build - for a 19PT captain I recommend: 1: PT 2: EM and AR 3: SI and BS 4: CE and FP IF you have 14 or 17 PT only - leave AR and/or BS. (so - Basic survivability build - but I take the secondary module in the upgrades) Check your playstyle: Load HE first - use reload to punish DDs early, flank and do not Cluster with other BBs and have a DD in front of you ideally. (eg. go wide for that heal buff with engine boost). Also nice: Shoot an HE volley to bow-in BB early - in many cases they will repair the one fire ("ah what shall happen, no torps, Long distance....") If they do - reload Booster on - and 2 more HE volleys -> 2 perma fires.... and Train Train Train. Jutland is a great ship too and according the stats it performs really well overall in this ranked season (53% WR or so) Personally I feel better in Z-46 for this specific mode (though I run both only with 50% WR so far in ranked - just 15 games or though and have not really adapted I guess). (I am too agressive, whenever I play more defensive I tend to perform better) Why I find Z-46 for the game mode better (if you have no Black): -> Reload of Torps - you nearly send 2 sets of torps until Jutland has first one ready (meaning you can nicely flood the caps early) -> the Hydro is super aggressive with its long duration and 5 km range (super valuable in low radar count games - I have seen quite a few in ranks 5-1 as often 3BBs vs. 3 DDs - or only 1 cruiser in between) -> you do have RPF without harsh sacrifices (as on Jutland you need to run IFHE - which Forces you to scrifice BFT and AR for RPF) Maybe it helps - enjoy. Team up with a Kita or Black....

I would love to receive 2 stars each for the 2 best performing players of the winning team instead of not loosing one as best on the loosing team... Found so far that teamplay happens. However, particularly in 10-6 ranks players seem not to be used to the different modus. Communication always lacks a bit which I find sad. At the begging some " I go there - try to get this cap - I put Radar on in 10 etc". would be great... The modus punishes teams with Camping BBs - so quite a few players have to adapt their style... DDs have to really find the right balance... its a refreshing modus...

And we are early in the season - things are not sorted and people need to adapt.... GarrusBrutus - how come they are in clans that high in the clan leagues? Only a selected group of the clan allowed to play in clan battles as "lead team"? just wondering.... (I am only 1 year with the game and half a year I did not really bother much....)

In this mode and with Seattle or Neptune you rely on a DD Buddy that smokes you in. On top you will easily get radared by the Russian long range Version - and particularly in lower ranks quickyl focussed and blepped. (Have seen this happen again yesterday to two Players from Typhoon/Hurricane Clans...and they typically know how to play) Look at the metas - mostly you will see BB heavy: 3/4 BBs - 1 Cruiser - 2/1 DDs. or DD heavy - so 1/2 BBs - 1 Cruiseer - 3/4 DDs.. Good luck with Seattle/Neptune in a BB heavy game.... It is very tough and the game mode Arms Race requires you to get close. Long range BB sniping and HE spamming might not be a promising approach... And Seattle is - in whatever mode - nearly unplayable with a 13 PT captain imho. 14 or even better 17 is a min. (PT, AR, SI, CE, IFHE is min.) - DE and AR then on top.... In your Buffalo you can at least bow-tank a bit... Have fun with Missouri - ranked is always a great learning experience...(at least for me I can say that....) Rank 5 and below sees mainly: BBs: Musashi and Jean Barts (have hardly seen Missouris there), some Alsaces CAs: Kronshtadts and Dimitris DDs: Black, Kitakaze, some Jutlands and Z46 have seen hardly anything else..

I hope above comment was not missunderstood. When I stated those ships loose one Karma I certainly was not referring to me reporting anyone for bringing such a ship. It was just an observation that those ships good some harsh comments in chat. I played Leander in the sprints with great success and often play light cruisers in randoms - so I perfectly understand what you mean. but they are very very difficult to play I assume in the current Arms Race mode/meta....I did not dare to bring the Seattle in.. (will stick with JB and Kron for now...) 10-6 was full of BBs - often 3-4 in a match... 5 and down it seems more DDs...have not played much there yet.... Btw. Funny - just two days ago: Chat... A: You bring a Mino to Ranked? B: jaja...it works well for me...6 wins in a row... A: cool - lets win this.... 30 secs later... Devastating Strike.... B: crap....

It requires even more skill and brain I feel... What risks to take to get a buff and when to stay defensive? Map awareness becomes even more important. Team Play is fostered - you want the buffs, you have to Support your teammates (when in CA and BB - Support your DDs..) Not that you would not need this in domination and standard mode...but even more so in arms race... Just my 2 Cents...

Rank Sprint does not count for this. Only the "real" long ranked seasons. Have you made it to rank 1 there too? Regarding the irrevocable ranks - there is pros and cons... Normally it should not matter so much anyway... (What I found frustrating in the last season was when you fell out of rank 5 into another "bucket" of Players, running a loosing streak down to rank 7-8 again...) Other than that - your progression depends on the difference of stars earned vs. lost boosted by the stars you save in case of loosing. So - if you want to reach rank 1 you anyway have to continously perform... 10->1 takes 40 stars (so the season seems shorter in times of ranks - but the number of "difficult" stars - 10-1 remains the same.) Just an Illustration to show how hard it is...(hope the formula I used was correct...) 60%WR no stars kept: it takes you 200 games 60%WR 20% stars kept: it takes you 143 games 52%WR 10% stars kept: it takes you 455 games 52%WR 20% stars kept: it takes you 294 games Massive influence of the "star keeping" rate can be observed. When you reach rank 5 (particularly that early - we are 4 days into the season) one can recognise a significant change in competition. Big number of Unicums and Typhoon/Hurricane clan players there... (While 10-6 I found very mixed)... I find the Arms Race mode quite refreshing so far...

I played quite a few battles now (37) and the format for sure is very different. It is quite fast - and here are my observations: The meta is BB and DD heavy (Jean Barts, Missouris and Musashis vs. Kitakazes, Z-46, Jutlands and Blacks - in between Kronshtads). If you bring FdG, Seattle, Neptune, Roon, Ibuki...you might loose 1 Karma instantly... I got to 65% Winrates on Kron and JB so far. Missouri and Kita I do not have yet. Mushi - so so. DDs - difficult. DD Play depends heavily on Team Support...so mixed results there. (about 50% WR) Musashi - in DD heavy games useless...otherwise it becomes an all big gun (4BBs) fight... The mode punishes any sort of Camping. BBs who are used to camp and snipe do not Support their DDs early on. Their DDs suffer and possibly die - so do the BBssoon afterwards (as the other Team also gets way more buffs). Middle map control seems very important. The Team who does kill/push away the other Team DDs typically has it and wins. So - it becomes some sort of - hopefully calculated - yoloing at the beginning. Seems to be as simple as that - and JB does this quite well - bow-in, Fast, releod Booster and HE....helps against DDs... Z with hydro and fast torp reload also seems doing well (no time to wait for 2 mins to get torps reloaded - everything moves quite fast...) Overall - quite dynamic and rather stressfull. not comparable to other ranked modes before. Much less static - so particularly BB mains have to really adapt to this. Light cruisers get easily shredded (Seattle spotted - 5 ships press "I like" - survive those 3x BB salvos....) in the meta and DDs have to find the right balance. Communication always helps. The Impact of the buffs I found hard to Analyse - it is so chaotic and fast, often you can hardly keep track... Heal is of course very powerful for BBs/CAs....but then again, People just die yoloing to get those...
