    You don't. But if you get one ping (which is not hard...), it is very easy to hit the second one. So, if you can only get one ping you are: - a total mega and utter tater; -... or you do it on purpose (might still be a total tater though, like me). So far, most of the ships that I hit with one ping, they go like "uh oh nope not going there". Also, if they still keep coming I'll just send the fish & then hit them with a second ping.

    Better players just use double ping, or launch the torps unguided from close range. They do not use single ping much, if at all. I do not use single ping myself, well, there is a side-story to that. What I use single ping for is "to convince the reds this is a baaaaaadddd area to enter"....

    Yes does. The damage is done not specifically by the shell, but by the HE explosion. The deeper they dive, the more "armour" they have. Also, the higher caliber, the more the shells "pen" the water. Seems to be working as intended - but what I do not know is, if it is working correctly. Note that the same thing goes for SAP.

    Well, I never stick y to the spawn point, but I see those kind of DDs all the time. But maybe they are all @Bear__Necessities in some of his alt-accounts. True, that. Both of them. Well... usually I have already seen the DD, or at least expected him... Sometimes yes they yell in chat, then I type "why?" and then I just kill the DD... Yesterday, 2x Halland dead with torps, and a Yugumo. Torps of course - as I was in Kaga... Some other DDs got half-killed or just killed off. One game they went for me with 3 DDs. Killed two of them, last one killed me, while I farmed their Zeppy CV (and killed a BB..)... then with last squad, killed the last DD. We saw that CV player a few more times (he liked his Graf Zeppy) and we just farmed their team (100K + for me...). Je jad kinda... well... crap teams. Last game of the evening we saw him again, but this time our team sucked so hard... we could do nothing. That team was REALLY BAD. I have actually gotten a +1 in a CV... once. But if I am in a good spot I'll defend it rather than run. Usually works out better. You'll get spotted and even if you kill the DD(s) their buddies will happily farm you.
  5. You are daydreaming a bit here, because that is only true in a game where there are people doing their job. And they will usually be on the winning team, but those are not the ones that are complaining. Top earners on the losing team are usually the useless ones. The ones that did their job, but lost, usually get zip. THOSE are the ones that are complaining, and I think they are correct with that complaint.

    Always Dza Zjermans that suffer, verdammte scheiss nochmal, or is that a coincidence... Could be right, there. Then again, on most maps there are some obvious places a CV will hide and be closer to the fight. Which is why I'll go through middle with the CV on "Two Brothers" map... always do the unexpected. Well that is also true, many players yell CV-do-this-CV-do-that but indeed those themselves are usually a let down. Bad CV if he doesn't spot for the team (nobody cares that the CV also has to get some damage in, maybe they should offer him credits..), so why not bad team if they just leave DDs running around, after all, what will a DD do after he takes a cap unopposed? Right: he'll go for the biggest threat. That might be a mistake though as a CV that lets a DD cap unopposed can never be a threat... as he could easily have ruined that DDs day... Then again maybe he is stil a bigger threat than such a team that lets a DD get through to their rear...
  7. That's the thing though, what is "decent damage"? As for DDs... yes you have a lot of those. I suck at DDs, but even I can do better than that. First thing I know, do not smoke up unless you really really have to. Because not only will you not see anything, neither will anybody else, as you were the one spotting stuff. But, as it usually still happens - and I am in a BB or a cruiser - then I'll juist go in, and put in chat "I am a really fat DD". And when they deny that I have now identieifed as a DD, then usually (Pommern) I put "but I have torps". And if I am in an Italian CA/BB I go "but I have smoke"... (and torps...)   8. That's not the point. You can do it from 20KM+ without any risk. And as such you farm the damage and the XP. ...coming closer also means you risk getting shot at, blapped, torped et cetera... And a fire is a fire. It doesn't reall matter how many shells you land, if you can get perma-fires. Just keep an eye out, and once you see they used DCP you set three perma fires. And yes you might get the actual kill. IF your team is sort of halfway win/lose you can ALWAYS come in (being full HP) and kill all the low reds off and get a win. And if not, you can just hang back, farm some more, and let them come to you... NOTE: that is not how I like to play, but I see it happen a lot.
  9. That is where you are wrong though, if you burn down half a BB, you get a "half kill" XP. Doesn;t matter if he heals it all back. And how I know? I tried farming Conquerors with an Implacable. That is all I did athe whole game. They were in a div and probably decided to go and kill the CV. They got zilch... Didn't even kill one of the three, they kept coming at me, and all 3 of them must have used all their heals...

  12. Hahaha I just finished regrinding the slow US BBs for the 5th time... And I have te T9 Minnesota for the fatties, halfway to Vermont. Somehow I like these ships...

    TBH you are sort of right, because you need to use DCP. If the reload of the ping is shorter, well yeah, then what happens is they'll just ping again.

    Well, you see many CV drivers spot the whole map, and I am grinding that fat Vermont... That thing can snipe a CV no problem, all it needs is a bit of RNGesus. Usually CVs don't move much either. Last week at least 5 games I got the CV deleted before the game was half done.

    He has 1030 random battles... and 7 solo battles. Just saying. Might be extremely good? Hmmm. If you do co-op at weird times with 2 buddies, and you kill 1 or 2 ships...

    Well, I don't do too bad myself in the plane-spawning abominations... (yup zero karma). And yes getting closer is key, however, you do not HAVE TO, and you will not be spotted if you lauch. Similar to a fat BB, but even without the gun bloom. BTW how close can you get

    Basically, this. CVs are broken by definition because you do not shoot at the ship, you shoot the "ammo delivery thing". There is no reason for a CV to risk the ship itself. As such, all the defense that is left comes down to "damage mitigation". Even if you manage to kill all the planes of the CV and render him useless it is still "damage mitigation". What WeeGee could/should have done is make that "damage mitigation" interesting (fun and engaging). But instead they made it RNG-based auto-button, leaving the fun and engaging part mostly to the CV driver. They could have made subs the CV-prowlers, and made CVs the sub-defense, but nope. Which is a shame, as that would have made the game a LOT better.

    Yeah that is a fault. - ANY DD should be (a bit..) faster than a sub, so they can run them down or get away; - and ALL DDs should have "ASDIC" where they can also ping subs. The only options against DDs for a sub should be: - dive away, and try to escape at deepest level. - surface and try kill him with torps to the face. ASDIC should work such that the DD spots the sub (except at the deepest level), and the sub then also sees the DD that uses ASDIC (even at deepest level), but the subs teammates do NOT see the DD unless they are also in ASDIC range. It would be a "lesser form of hydro" as such, as the sub will see the ship that is using it. Subs are like another added dimension, so they will need some SPECIFIC counters. Like planes need AA, and fighters to be countered. And like torps need hydro to be detected. And like smoke needs hydro or radar to be countered.

    Well my son (boat73) plays ships as well, so usually you'll see the two of us. I'm still grinding stuff so that means, sometimes I have to grind horrible ships. We're not that good that we can carry, but usually we end up in top 5 though. I think you may call that a carry, but we cannot do it if the team absolutely sucks - which is often. But yes playing together is the best fun, "do you see that Nürnberg" and then you blap him, or you totally miss him (which is even funnier really if that happens 3 times), or other stuuuupid stuff. As in, my DD-divvy is in trouble, I shoot at the red DD (from 20km) and I blap him in half or worse... And then you see in chat "praise RNGesus" or likewise... in discord it is even funnier!

    I don't have it - neither did my divvies. But I do sometimes recognize other forumites and the clan they are in... Sometimes they recognize me as well... Ditto. It usually leads to people just giving up: "Oh nooo we have many reds and they have some blue". In the vanilla game, you only see some colors AFTER the game is done. At the start hey're all white. Well, that too. They DID become overconfident and got themselves spotted. Which lead to their downfall. No other way I could "hunt a DD" in my fat Minnesota (and get him, too... I also got half of the other one... before I ate all his torps). In the process I also got some more blapperoni, of course.

    I doubt if it is harder than making sure every side has the same amount of divisions. True. However - let's take the worst case. And this is a thing that happened for real... We had a 3-div (T9) going because I was grinding Minnesota. 1 DD, 1 cruiser and me. We're all quite potato... We meet a 3-div, blue clan (no naming and shaming here but they are forumites...) so we warned the team: GET THOSE FIRST. And yes we did. And yes we won. I blapped one of them to smithereens with Minnesota. My two buddies got the other, third was killed by team.

    The way it is now, if you have a div (no matter the WR) there will be a similar div on the other side. But all that is needed really, is to shove that one guy (or maybe two) from left-to-righ to get some better balance. Well, my clan is usually pretty tater, but when we work together (and in our favorite ships) we can even FFup unicum divs. By now we know what clans... and if for example we see a div of 3 DDs from certain clan... we know who we want to kill first. Of course, sometimes they kill US first... but... hey... that's life.

    Correct. Also, it depends on the ship you play. Players like me can be potater in one ship, but pretty damn good in the other. You'd not need to find a likewise div, just 3 players that are good. Part of the problem IMO is the current "div vs div" thing. Yeah you get two divs on each side... but this increases the difference. One team will have a div that all have >60%, the other gets the "all 45% div". I'd say a div of 3x45% is worse than having 3 loose 60% players.

    They wouldn't, really. Just some players would get moved from team A to team B. Doesn't have to be 100% evened out, just a bit more than now. Even moving 1 or 2 players would be a great improvement. Also, it could still be that there will be teams that have an average 60% WR. Just the other one would not have 40.
