Giuseppe Verdi (Tier IX) for DOUBLOONS ONLY?!
BLUB__BLUB replied to XDMeloniXD's topic in General Discussion
...but T12 subs might be the real thing... -
Well OK let's make that a T2 then...
-
True. However they might not be such a pest at T4. One torp and 20 min reload sounds good...

1. Basically, nelson armour is kinda crap. 2. I can cit a Nelson with a Leander so why not the La Baguette. 3. Best way to cit a Nelson is straight through the butt. 4. Where the shells seem to go on your replay, doesn't really have to be where they are calculated. On some games where the ship I was shooting at was having some "fat ping", it exploded before my shells were even there. As in "broadside citadel blappomatic", shells did not even hit, but ship already went BOOM.

Best way to counter, is to not get in there at all. You can sort of guess where he is. Same as a Halland. There are some typical spots where they usually are sitting. I always use rocket planes to try find out (cause rockets most worthless). Then after that come back (his DefAA is now finished) and torp them if I must do it (usually... useless teams...). Yeah sometimes I get whacked too by one that is where I do not expect him. Which also means he is at a spot where he is useless, or where my team will kill him soon.

Nah not really, though must say some of those will do it. Kaga certainly will always do well (but I think it is more OP than Enterprise). You are right though the playstyle is more enjoyable, because FDR is mighty SLOOOOOOWWWWW. Nowadays though you find whole teams of numbskulls which you can hardly farm fast enough with FDR. -

You are correct FDR is not THAT good. It mostly depends if you can find "loiter space" to put a second (third... fourth...) attack on. That means you have to find room to just fark around while the attack-pause runs. If you cannot find it you will lose many planes. That said... nothing else can farm lonely, hapless fat BBs like FDR. -

Salem is good. But since you have Des Moines, which is kinda similar (not totally) why not take something else. In clan battles it is usually the DM that is slightly more wanted (because it can take radar+hydro). Marco Polo I have but I think it is rather meh. Not bad, but just a bit meh. I'd go get something "different". Since you already have DM (T10) you do not really need a premium US-captain-cruiser-trainer anymore. Since you have 15K battles I think you know what you'll like. I'd keep DM though it is quite a good one. Unless you want to regrind the line. Must say Salem is a good credit earner, too. Although it is like, if you already have Petro, would you also go get Stalingrad/Moskva? Unless (like this season CB) they go for "only one of each", I would not do it. The radar doesn't LAST shorter. It has less reach (12 km for DM, 8.5 km for Salem). The other differences are: DM = standard heal Salem = superheal DM can mount HYDRO and RADAR at the same time, Salem can mount radar OR hydro, the other slot is scouting/fighter plane. CORRECTED: IT IS DEF AA This makes the playstyle similar but NOT THE SAME. For example, a DM can easily radar a whole cap and beyond while sitting beside an island. Means that a DM can control the cap, dakka dakka at everything that enters it or is around it. Salem cannot do that, but because of the heal you can yolo another cruiser (for example a Des Moines ) and heal up after. Or run down a DD and heal up after. Which is hard to do in DM, because less heal, you need to "take them down from cover". In the end doesn't make that much difference to the result. Me and a teammate both did an evening of games. He had DM, I had Salem. Always ended similar place in team, similar damage. Just a bit different how we got the damage/kills. He killed mostly DDs at the start, and I killed them mostly after a while while re-capping or de-capping. We both set everything on fire though since that part is quite similar. Usually the Salem lived a bit longer, but DM got the damage done sooner. -

Wanna have some steel ships? We play CB, but we need a second team!! SIGN UP with BBMM. https://discord.gg/CGARmFh

Well, if the torps can strike at 10km then BBs need to be able to defend themselves at 10km. Could be similar, 4 subs attacking a lone BB from 10 km. Which would be more unfair, as that BB cannot dive or produce smokescreen. Maybe have a captain skill on subs that says "X-mas packet drop incoming".
-
DC planes? You mean those that the BBs can launch. Yes they will launch them, but they can only reach 10km. And if you get swarms of them it means you were close to swarms of BBs. Now try sitting in a DD or cruiser and getting spotted near 4 BBs...
-
The subs were not, their fishies were sometimes. I managed to blap one yesterday in Vanguard though. After he already torped two teammates so he deserved it. Last ship spotted him before he ate all the torps (and then I whacked him). That multiplier is nuts and imbecilic though. Divetime should be a bit comparable to DD smoke time, but longer since subs (should be) slower than a DD. How fast it would refresh, yes this can be 1-1 but also something different. Could even be the first 30 secs refreshes faster or slower. And it could be a "consumable" but that would be no fun, also a Dd can get punished for being in smoke too long, a sub will not. If it is a consumable then they will all tend to use it "to the end". If it is a "reloadable-at-surface" then they'll tend to try keep it full. Also, could make it such that at periscope depth they use half? And high tiers would have snorkel, use 25%? Captain skills (heavy breathing, lol)? Torps should be "simple and stupid". Launched from surface, they should hit DDs/BBs/CAs/CV. Launched at periscope depth, they could be NOT hitting DDs. Like DW torps. Maybe also be a bit more stealthy, but slower. That way a sub cannot sit at periscope depth waiting for a DD, as he cannot torp him then. What he COULD do is wait for the DD, surface, torp, and then try to dive.... and run... This would be balanced by "how fast can a sub dive and get undetected". Of course if he tries it vs a DD with hydro he is 100% FFd, but hey. He should be! Ping.... Pinging should be used to spot ships/subs (for teammates..?) when dived not-too-deep (AKA: vulnerable to hydro). Pinging could "lock on" to other subs at higher tiers and do something with extra damage "magnetic keel torps". Ping could give a "range extender"' to the white line or more accuracy or speed vs surface ships (less spread). Ping should also give away the position of the sub to the pinged ship, sort of.

Oiiii do you mean we get some new maps, or just more PTW crab boats...
-
I played one game of Shokek yesterday, to knock off the snowflake. >> 100K and win, what changed? Also, it was a short game due to some B@@@ in a CV...
-
Yes sort of, like that. Also subs do not "instantly dive" they can still be hit upto 10 m underwater or so. Just the max that they ever could dive should not be half the game. Many games do not even last 15 minutes.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Well most of the times I just kept your guys spotted, while blocking the cap... Was trying to be a DD and torp... nah, no cigar. Hit that Hipper good though. Just shows that even if you are quite good, you can't pull it off if they throw it. Same happens to us (though we're not THAT good...), and also quite often. PS in a CV (at T8), or ina BB no matter... I do not have enough with 150K and 3 kills... even if my divvies also kill 2 each. Only if they manage 3+2, then we can guaranteed carry. T6: 100+ and ~3 kills (CV or BB no matter), if my teammates kill 3 each. Must say we can pull it off easier. Feels a bit like sealclubbing but we're all ~50% so... maybe we are just not always the seals there. Getting 3 kills seems a bit easy there. So many broadsiding BLAP cruisers... T10... I dunno what you need to do there.. lost games with 200K and 5 kills... LMAO. And before you ask, yes my cruiser skills are non-existent. -

This evening saw @arquata2019 having a baaaaadddd day.... yeah Kattin jinxed it (LOL). Well I wasn't doing any better in the Edinburgh (did mega-crap...) but at least we won. -
That is their own fault though. If subs get a much more limited "diving time" (say 2,3 minutes), which they have to replenish, then the end would come very soon. But now potato subs just FF around and then at the end they have 10 minutes.... Also CVs should be able to D depth charge them, and subs should be the main threat to CVs. But we'll get them anyway, all we can do is hope WeeGee listens. They do a bit, but not enough.

I want to join the lottery And happy holidays to all you scrubs.

Plenty stuff is still possible. Drop a "fighter" squad where he is spotted and his AA will not reach... I'll just murder the enemy CV if he is an inviting target. Usually they stay wayyyyy back. But when in FDR, well, you want to farm those Yammies at the rear.. sooo... I often see them out there. Last drop goes into the enemy CV... Sometimes, they come forward as well. Following their team, sort of (never trust a random team BTW). And yes that could be good strategy... I do it as well, sometimes, some maps. I will put my CV in the channel at the Two Brothers map, for example. But I see those that do it for WTF I dunno? OK then, they WILL get farmed. It is certainly not more difficult than farming a Des Moines or something like that. Also seen, they move to A1, or something. Nobody is there so they feel safe... I will send my CV going for them to ram them in the end. Works!
