Suggestion for skill-based MM
BLUB__BLUB replied to SolanumTuberosumRex's topic in General Discussion
It would be easier, just count the WR/damage per player and make sure each side has around the same total. If you'd have a mega-unicum with >80% (say, @El2aZeR in Enterprise) he'd get a few 40%ers to compensate... It would be interesting to see what happened anyway. Though I still predict he'll clean up the whole team and farm even harder... -
Suggestion for skill-based MM

I think you'd get more XP anyway, since it will prevent ROFLSTOMP games... Would mean games last longer, so you can/must do more damage (and you will not be the first one to die, obviously). In your case, theoretically suppose you were at 100%WR but all won in average 5 minutes - and now you'd get 15 minutes but 75% WR. You'd do around 50% more damage. -
Great lottery, grats to the winners. Hurray for [SCRUBS] to do this again this year! And a happy new year to you all!
-
I can do it in a BB, if the thing is any bit agile. Colombo, US BBs... not the Germans though. Most annoying nowadays are the teams though. Seems one team always gets the numbskulls, it is not even funny anymore. And it is also no fun if the reds have them, yes your game ends in a win in 4 minutes but no damage. And next game, it ends in a quick loss because YOU got them all. Holy crap. Plus I play a lot T6-7-8, always uptiered. Means: nothing you can do there except suffer.
-
I should play them more then, because I will be helping MM...
-
Agreed. We also had the caps where one cap was inside the other cap. Was great IMO. But even in Clan Battles some teams did not understand that they had to get in/block right from the start. We usually did though, with Pommern +1. If the other one was also Pommern... good luck getting us out... We'd just shoot, torp and secondary-rampage everything that was a threat.
-
Well, you need at least 2 teammates to control the two other rings... as there is no "one ring to rule them all". Means at least the intellectuality of a doorknob +2. Eh. Even that is sometimes too much to ask. Usually though, in those games I farm well over 100K. In games that we win, not so much (ending in 4 minutes...).
-
Maybe then a "free for all" after a while. Like, everybody can shoot him and claim his points, even teammates. Maybe make it so the teammates then do not get points but take his HP added to their own. Extra heal due to shooting borderhumpers.
-
I think WeeGee should just send the Kraken to borderhuggers. You have 1 minute to get outta there, else it just takes you to the bottom. Easy.
-
Didn't, that is why I am asking. I know that sometimes you could div up. But that might be in some previous version. Also I know that sometimes it is different tiers. Anyway epicentre is still epicentre.
-
Must have missed that... then again, I miss a lot else I'd have at least 80% WR. I do get a lot of Epicentre games in randoms though. Mostly wins. BTW can you still div up in ranked... ehh.. just asking. Maybe this is why I missed it though... no ranked there.
-
I never play ranked, did a few times and thought it was a sh*tshow... people trying save stars etc... So I did not even know you could get Epicentre in ranked. Something learned even after 10K+ games! However... clanmates often div up. We even meet other divisions of the same clan (LOL when that happens). Dunno how they do that in [WDG] but in [BBMM] and [BBMMX] it is promoted (and we have discord, too). Another one: CV+Halland+Stalingrad... Mega-toxic: CV + 2x sub...
-
DM + Smolly + Colombo...
-
That is correct. If you can dominate in a BB, that is the best. The most useless BB is the one that sits at the rear spamming whatever, usually. This is especially so in Epicentre. And this is so because that BB doesn't perform part of his task, which is: tank damage. Also, if you get into the circle, you will BLOCK the enemy from gaining points. Or maybe even cap. The above is also in a DD - and since the ones that are IN the circles are the prime targets, you wil also spot them more. True you can also go "flanking"... but quite often Epicentre ends in ZERO POINTS for one team. Once your team caps the middle, blocks the rest - and then you kill a few ships.... it is over pretty soon. I think it is a LOT better than the "standard battle" which usually ends up in two lemmingtrains... Although Epicentre often also ends up with two lemmingtrains doing either a clockwise or anticlockwise run.
-
Depends a bit on what ship you have though. And on the team... mostly the team. Seems to me 90% is afraid to go into those circles. That as well. If you have a fast ship though.... ...thing is, it is just as easy to go in from the sides. Sometimes (depending on where the islands are) it is even more beneficial. Depends on the map and the CV. If I can find cover, I surely will do it. Also in CVs with slow planes, it is beneficial. Just make sure you do not get blapped. Well, here's the main thing. This is WoWS randoms... It seems to become "the usual" that teams do not do their jobs... Yes they'll go flanking, but they seem to be afraid to enter the caps. I'd say the team that enters first, is usually the one that wins, if they do not get killed. That is, if they understand that caps (once taken) need to be blocked. Because sometimes, when they see that a cap is taken, they all leave it.... This is indeed the fact. You need to shoot the enemy that blocks the cap. But what often happens, 10 of them go "flanking" and keep on shooting the other flanking team. And it usually ends up in two lemmingtrains chasing each other. Depends where you sit/float around... some positions it is quite impossible to get flanked or get a crossfire on. As in those maps, almost all the islands are in the caps. I usually manage to sit/floar around there just fine, while shooting the reds. And priority should be given to shooting the reds that are in the cap. Forget the flankers, just make sure they do not kill you. But they're usually too busy with the other flankers... I had it in Arizona... I went in, and just kept shooting the reds that were in the cap. I had only one teammate that (in the end) blocked the other ring. He was almost dead so he might have just been hiding, LOL. I managed to blap a cruiser, and deleted their DD - while I kept moving around in the outer circle. Meanwhile my flanking lemmingtrain was following the red flanking lemmingtrain... I made sure I kept an island between me and the red lemmingtrain, managed to cap the middle.... in a T8 game.

I kinda like this mode... yeah shoot. It is the mode where the camper team never wins. If your team camps behind islands and doesn't enter the circles, you lose. Hard. The team that wins it is the one that keeps the circles occupied, and caps the most, meanwhile finishing off the reds. Most lost games is when your team doesn't understand they need to LEAVE ONE IN EACH CIRCLE. We've all seen it... the whole lot of them leaves #3, goes into #2, but there is ONE RED ship in #2... so they do not cap it. Meanwhile ONE RED ship goes into #3... guess what... the reds now have both... Then usually what happens is they ALL move in the middle, leaving #2 uncontested... points now come in for the reds from #3 AND #2... Yes no points come in from the middle circle... but... ehhhh.... I always GET IN. No matter if in a BB or even in a CV. I will get in. Usually pretty quick, too. In a BB, I just step on it full throttle, and find myself a nice spot in the outer circle. When in the circle, I float around, I hide behind islands and stay as long as I can, and do as much damage as I can. Because in those circles that is where the game is. There will be some on the outside, but those are not important. Sure they are a danger, but the thing to do is AVOID THEM. Run away. Remember, they do not matter. Keep inside that circle... you need to shoot the ones that are keeping the circles from you, not the ones outside. Usually I load AP with a BB at the start, try blap a cruiser. AFter that, HE - those DDs need to die. And yes sometimes I also die... but I will keep that circle occupied and be a tough cookie to crack. And yes sometimes I end up in a BB (or even a CV...) in the middle. if I play a DD (rare...), I SURE WILL BE in the middle. If cruiser... yes, 2nd circle or middle (after all that iswhere those DDs are that you need to blap). But do not confuse that with a middle rush... though I WILL DO THAT if needed. Because the middle one gives the most points. Get it if you can. And if you can't, make sure it is blocked. So that way the enemy doesn't get points either. If you can block it and be undetected (or tank damage) you're doing well. Usually I just sit in some ring hiding... in my fat BB... HE loaded... and then BLAP that was the red DD, and then YES I will move in. And then you see in chat: "is that a FF-ing BB in the middle capping@!@@%#@" and sometimes I even manage it... Then they find out they have to KILL ME in order to re-take it. Hopefully a smart teammate in something less detectable will hold it by then. Best bring a divvy in a DD... but I also have managed to go unspotted (hahahaha LMAO) in a BB... I win those epicenter games more than I lose them.

Yes, they did try it a few times, but on general - you are correct. The times they did try, they failed. Then again no fleet would run full speed for hours on end, either. And since the whole lot in WoWs is crammed in 20 minutes, things are gonna go weird anyway. It would be better, same as CVs. But alas, no chance. We'll get them, and we better hope they turn out bearable. Although I wonder why we got "convoy" for a while, dd not get subs in that, and now we do not have it anymore.
-
Well, there is something to discuss there. First, how much would you consider WoWS a "fleet". usually a CV or BB would have a SCREEN of DDs. Not just 1 or 2... also, there are no transports. So... how realistic is WoWS... I think we can agree it is stretched a bit. Then, yes there were (some) fleet actions. In WW1 they tried to put subs to work. They failed, but yeah. Also, you could consider the Germans to have some sort of "fleet action" with the Wolfpacks in WW2. And the Americans had good results against Japanese shipping - including many warships. Then count how many CVs sunk due to subs. So they were used for sub vs BB/CA/DD. However such discussion is no use. WeeGee decided we'll have them, so that's it. All we can hope (and try help/convince WeeGee) is that they turn out somewhat bearable. I agree. A whole lot ("unlimited megalarge instant smokescreen") of water, which also (at deep dive) protects you from ANY detection and from ANY hits... is much better than a smokescreen. But yes. This is what WeeGee needs to consider, related to the smokescreen. As such: - DDs have limited movement within the smokescreen --> subs also need to have limited movement --> underwater = limit their speed/acceleration. - DDs can be detected in smoke (radar, hydro, 2km...) --> subs also need to run some sort of risk while underwater ( "in smoke"). - DDs can be hit in smoke, even if undetected... --> subs should be vulnerable as well. Hydro, asdic, that stuff. Also any action should make them be more at risk. A ship shooting from smoke gets detected, usually. So, a "bubble flash" when he launches torps? Probably should not be able to launch them when stealth, so only periscope/surface. That sort of thing. Imagine a DD being able to sit in smoke, invulnerable, still spotting (ping), and able to launch homing torps. What were they thinking. Resumé: the subs need quite a bit of counter-measures to be comparable to a DD. However, this would still not make them un-fun. All is (or should be) risk vs reward. Subs could have various "in betweens". Like running periscope depth. But the reward - let's compare to torpedo DDs , like Asashio, Somers, Paolo Yolo. Since the sub runs less risk than those, the rewards should be less also. So, no instant-delete on BBs and maybe not even cruisers. Maybe not even DDs. This doesn't mean they are crud or unrewarding. There could be a MUCH higher flooding chance. Something like >>50%? A full load of torps should guarantee a flooding, or two, if the full load gets eaten. IMO they should go for non-alpha strikes. Maybe a full set of torps being enough to just about sink a DD, or something. Curently though, subs are too invulnerable and as a result they needed their damage nerfed. Making it a no-risk-no-glory class, and that is quite sucking for everybody.
-
Basically subs did not fight each other underwater until much later. Pings were used to detect ships when not seen, but also the reverse: to detect subs. When a sub was detected, planes were called in or a DD dropped DC. Basically, that's it. WeeGee should consider subs more like a torpedo-DD with "dive" instead of smoke. The stealth they get should be balanced against the risk. Even then, a good player will be annoying as hell. But that also goes for (for example) an Asashio - you never see him, but you eat his torps. Even then, you can run him down and kill him, and if he FFs up he is dead.
-
Exactly. And by now we know why they have them: they want subs to be able to fight other subs. IMO that is not necessary. In fact it would be better if sub vs sub would be limited to: - torping a surfaced enemy sub (or finishing him off with the deckgun); - ramming him. The pings could be used to detect "whatever" and then send it to teammates, the sub normally only spotting for himself. And when he does that, the detected ships should be given the position of the sub. Being able (or not) to whack him. Keep it simple.
-
ZERO best karma ... since I do play about 5-30% CV I think it is never gonna be more than 2. Oh and yesterday I got myself a Paolo Yolo, maybe karma can get negative we'll see.
-
Yes, and you also have to be kinda sneaky/nifty. I find if a ship is 100% broadside, then he sees you shoot at him, he turns in or out. So, no citadels. It is better to find one that has almost completed a turn or turning, then calculate... then aim for the part/moment when you expect he'll be completely broadside. Patience is the best here.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
BLUB__BLUB replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Question about this one: ...since my clan is having an achievement award for the div with the most fires in a game. So yes that is all bombs and rockets (12 minutes... 30 fires possible...). It is up to T8 (so no Smolly... no Friesland... no Conqkek...) what would you guys say we'd take in div? I think Ark Royal (for the spotting) and then maybe 2x DD. Should be able to get 100 fires with such a div. Implacable/Ckalov comes to mind as well. Or faildivision Ark + 2x Flint... Suggestions? -
I think it is more like, the game already knows where the b0ts are - so less lag and better results. If it is a PvP player, then the game has to calculate where you shoot and where he is. That said, lately I have had horrible games where I could not even do 10k... in an Iowa. Half the game I hit NOTHING at all. Not even a parked Musashi at 18km. Not even ONE HE shell. they do seem to hit me just fine though. Citadel right in the face, hot damn.
-
Rightly so, as the Naysayers do not care either - and we'll get them anyway. It is indeed. The balance between spotting and hiding is broken. Makes the BBs the best subhunters, LMAO. Well yes, currently BBs are well off, but ONLY because: - if/when the BBs are in a group (lone BB has little chance...); - ...because they can drop on the sub from distance, which DDs cannot.
