Yes it is very very nice. Well unless you are not in a carrier (aka a victim). I found that a T7 game is not much of a problem, neither is a T8 - except the other CV will be faster. So it is a matter of being able to position close to "the chicken farm" to get the KFC bucket filled. If you can do that, well even faildivving into T9 is just... troll. In T6 vs T6, I think only Ryujo is stronger. If you have those 4-5 minute ROFLSTOMPS then the "speed" is a severe disadvantage.
-
Yeah but you can count on it they'll be back with a "surprise"... I think it is the new German line, plus free T6 in dockyard. I see them everywhere. The positive: a good time to grind cruisers and Dds, you'll not have a long wait...
-
I should take more pics when in game... Happened to me once, after many fails I manage to double-ping a BB. Fired torps... killed the DD that I was not even aware of, hit a cruiser (ditto).... still missed the BB though. Someday I'll potato my way to greatness oh master.
-
I'm not sure if it is that OP. All CVs are broken anyway, and I have met many Enterprises in my Kaga. So far I seem to win 50% of them solo, and 63/56% in division... From which I gather that he's just very very good.
-
You'd have to look at his WR in other ship types, only then can we draw conclusions. We'll see that he is a very good player, but in a CV there is that extra factor. In Ark Royal, that distance gets nerfed due to the lack of speed. Yes you can strike a target at the other end of the map. It just will not be very effective. As the reds will also have a CV, if he has a faster one he can do that better.
-
This is very much correct. If you are any good in a CV, you can just murder the most important/influential player. But it also depends on strategic insight. Which is why I am not THAT good. Simply put, I do not know which one is the best to kill. However, I can kill/swat/terrorise any ship that I like. Granted, it is more or less difficult in some CVs due to their diversity. For example, in FDR hitting a DD is kinda RNG (drop a zillion bombs and get 1 incapacitation...), so killing outright is a problem, but you can still spot him all the way to his death. If you had taken Midway, well then that DD would be dead. The thing is, which one do you attack and I have some clue but not really. But can I do it? Yes I can. I'd say anyone savvy can. You do not have to be really good-with-CVs to do it. I assume that a person like those CCs is more capable of estimating which ship to remove than me. Now if they only get a 59% WR that means that either they are lacking insight in the game (same as me) or just suck with CVs. Why/how? I have some (strategically) savvy clanmates and when we div up they tell me which ones I should "remove". Result: Over 60% in some CVs... 70%WR in Shokek when we have a 3-div... kinda sick really. Note that I use them sometimes to j help clanmates grind stuff... in which case I disregard my own damage. Ark Royal ... is a good example because I play that one by far the most (top 5 most played leaderboard...) I got it because those funny biplanes... and they told me it would be a challenge as they are very slow. But well. It is indeed a challenge and that is also why I like it more than most CVs. Is it OP, I dunno. Because all Cvs are broken and therefore it is hard to say if it is OP as well. Here my stats: ...and this is why I think a WR of 59% in CVs is nothing. Any idiot (yes that includes me..) can do it.
-
I do not think 59% is "that good". I have similar percentage in some CVs (those which I play more than the rest). Also I use them mostly for "fun" (yes I have a bad character) and to help teammates grind. But even so, some are over 60% WR. And I'm not that good, just a bit "savvy". And not trying hard. All things considered: I think actually good, in CV, is when you are way over 70%.
-
This, too. It is kinda irritating. VERY much so. I think he is on to the same thing I am: ping "delays" the use of repair, if pinged torps hit then the flooding cannot be removed. Or more chance of flooding with pinged torps. They explode under the keel. Something like that.

I think WeeGee owes it to you to give you for free. How about it @MrConway, poor Barney wanted it long enough!

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

A @PointyHairedJedi appeared in a fat T8BB while I was in Pensacola... Promised him a +1 if he could blap me, but his teammates were faster. -
I had no problems at all. Even with the most stupid method: - run into a cap, and park next to it... - keep driving around in circles, and torp everything in sight... Reliable... well... I do not play much DD, and in that I am also NOT reliable. However my son, who is a DD main, shows me that subs are insane. AND reliable. Also he thinks they are a pest to DDs but he also enjoys hunting them when in a DD. So... I guess reliability varies with the mileage. I usually torp them like "whatever". My son he likes to hide behind islands, torp them as they come along. As I usually drive BBs I do not think they are slow. And I manage - my son does insane stuff. As said before, mileage may vary. But you can certainly do well in them. Some clanmates do, too. I'll r probably suck at playing subs (same as DDs...). They were before. Not right now, indeed. But we never know what WeeGee is planning next.

The only problem there is the short (very...short....) games that you get nowadays. In 20 minutes it can rack up a good score though. In 5, not so much... So when I see it is gonna be 5... I find myself a nice, unsuspecting victim...

The trick is to know what you can pen and then set fire to the rest. I have YOLO'd a Montana in Clan Battles with Napoli. He died. I died too but only after due to his teammates. I often use it just to push. Sort of like a Petro, nose in they can't easily kill you. Keep good track of which ships go where. Then DERPrise them by rushing them from behind island. If you keep their HP in check you'll kill them. or burn them down a bit first. Your torps should be the finishing blow. In case of lack of suitable stupidos, you will just have to set some on fire, which is "by occasion". Usually I find enough in random battles though... every game at least one. I have only 9 random games so far, but I like it. I play Napoli in randoms and CB only. I have a 21 pointer... which DOES make a difference. Usually I sink DM in CB, but make sure he used his radar and hydro before you run him down. He'll use his HE on you (his AP doesn;t do much to your nose), but if you play it right, you will take him from close. Make sure a teammate is spotting him. Then come from behind a mountain and rush him. And then that DM will die. What you want to do with it is set fores from distance, and when the game winds down you can yolo half-dead ships easily. Make sure somebody else spots them, come unspotted, use the smoke and finish them off. Ideally - div up with a DD.

I never experienced it, usually you get some b0ts.

Well do not buy it yet, WeeGee has finally produced something to spend your doubloons on for you. YORKIE IS HERE https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/262

I know it was removed, but it is all a test... so next iteration? This is what I mean by "remove this crap". You'll never know what stupidity they come up with next. Just remove that guided crap and use the "ping" for something else. Let it kill damage control on CVs, for example.
-
You will have nothing and you will be happy.
-
Well, THAT part I agree. DDs (and cruisers!) should be far more effective than BBs. The problem in WoWS is: after 5 minutes there may be no more DDs left... Still, indeed THAT makes absolutely no sense. it is even easier for subs to kill DDs (instead of Bbs) as well. IMO every DD (and cruiser) should have "sonar" which detects a sub "in action". That is, should detect a sub at ANY depth if he is not SITTING TOTALLY STILL. IMO it is ALSO a missed opportunity. What they should have done (still can do) is CV vs subs. Give the CVs a choice to get ASW DC instead of the rockets (which weren't there in RTS anyway). Make that PING work on CVs, let it negate the automated damage control that CVs have. As in: double ping = your auto-damage control gets SHUT DOWN for a period of time. And remove that citadel homing crap and all that for normal ships. That would SOLVE some problems instead of creating new ones. But... sigh... WeeGee....
-
IMO that is how it should be, just (maybe) they need to balance the amount of damage that DC does. But if you attacked 4 ships with a DD, and you got radared - then you'd also be toast. And probably, even quicker. If I see a DD when in a BB, I'll shoot it. If I see a sub, I'll bomb it. Subs are lucky the reload is quite slow... And yes if a sub attacks when there are 4 ships around, well, he risks the same as that DD. As he should.

Beyond silly now: < 4 min games.
BLUB__BLUB replied to SolanumTuberosumRex's topic in General Discussion
Exactly... have you seen the records there though. In co-op... well... I did that only a FEW times... when I had some grind that demanded dumb "performance". Like getting 100 citadel hits. Well I do that one in co-op then, getting 10-15 per game (British cruiser with smoke...) is easy. Or maybe not. Because what I have seen, players go in like hungry piraña's they just YOLO towards the b0ts (and they even curse eachother: I SAW HIM FIRST). I'm not surprised that games last short... to me, it seems to be the whole purpose. I'm actually expecting more complaints if they last longer than 5 minutes! -

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance

Eh well. I do run Smolly occasionally and a Massa is something to stay away from. I'd rather take a T10 BB, preferably a fat Yamato or a GK... as they do not have speedboost... or any other tricks. ALso when they shoot me not much will happen. A Massa though... will usually be the end of Smoll. -
That snorkel would break off... also it was visible, because of diesel smoke. And it would be tier 10. Their speed underwater would NEVER be higher than at the surface. However the Type 21 had more electric power than diesel power. Which is why people think "she was faster underwater". Which is BS, if a Type 21would use ELECTRIC at the surface then... ya kow? Yes maybe they should be cheaper than a DD in the tech tree and service cost. More efficiency, well, depends on the player. True, if they are slower, they might need to spawn closer.. Maybe subs should even spawn "on the side of the map". Hell if I had a say they'd spawn behind enemy BBs. Because FCK CAMPERS. But then again... DDs and cruisers should also be more plentyful than BBs. Maybe even CVs should be more plentiful than BBs.... And that is VERY true. Which is ALSO true. True - as we will get them anyway. They "ye" sayers already won. I think it is very understandable. Weegee is making an experiment. Should hear the guinea-pigs squeal. Type XXI would be T10, and yes that should have stuff like that. - Funhkmessbeobachtung (Radio Transmission Location) - however that would only work at surface.... DDS have a similar thing (RPF) - Funkmessgerät "Hohentwiel" (Radar) when surfaced against air and surface targets - same... and yes at T10, OK. - Horchanlage "Balkon" that was able to locate single ships at 20km and a whole convoy or very loud ships like BBs at up to 100km. - sonar/ping... which they all have... not just T10. - SU-System "Nibelung" for shooting programmed torps to akustic signals for firing submerged or while in periscope depth - now there we have the guided torps. At T10. Well, sort of! NOTE THIS THOUGH: It was able to fire LUT "Lageunabhängige Torpedos" from 20 m against targets and work was already done on the OT-I launch, from 50m depth. Planned was OT-II at 100m depth launch. So... actually subs WOULD NOT BE ABLE to fire from anywhere else than from surface or periscope depth BEFORE THEY HAD THAT. And I think that is how it should be. Only surface/periscope launching upto T10. After that, guiding et cetera. I do not think they are worse. Just limped-gimped. Sometimes even unrealistically gimped to make up for other stupid nerfs. You are part of an experiment... a guinea-piggy doesn't need to understand... I dunno what they will do but my hope is little. They COULD make them OK, but when I see what imbecilic stuff they tried, they could become a disaster as well.
-
That is not the problem, really. They should not be able to outrun ANYTHING when underwater. Not even the slowest BB they can meet. A Bb has a limited defence against subs, so should at least be able to run away. There is no risk involved for the sub to chase down a BB. He'll never see him if the sub is any good, and has no chance to defend himself. Homing torps are unnecessary. There's lots of DDs that do without. In fact I think subs should be more comparable to DDs: only able to shoot torps towards surface ships when at surface OR periscope depth. Homing torps... maybe some form of "magnetic" torps at T10. But surface shooting only at surface ships. And yes they want subs to fight other subs. Well what is wrong with something like we have now: X marks the spot. I'm sure they could make it work, maybe add a bit of "magnetic" when the torpedo is near enough to the sub. We'll see what they do, but by now I'm not getting my hopes up.

I kinda like them, but not the way WeeGee has ff-d it up. Unlike CVs, there is an actual "delivery man" at the spot of the deed, so this should be workable. In the sense that quid-pro-quo has to be feasible. But alas... WeeGee... fixes stuff that doesn't need to be fixed, and they do it by adding sci-fi (for the period) mumbo-jumbo that is only partly fixing stuff, but also creating new issues. (even the CVs they could make a LOT better but that is a different matter).
