    General CV related discussions.

It all depends. Mainly it has to do with my preference for using torps, on any CV. Pre-drop is sometimes required. Similar if you find a fat, broadside, parked up Stalingrad, who happens to have a full-AA Des Moines with him. Nothing un-do-able there. Just needs care. What to drop? AP rockets will do fine, bouncing bombs too... depending on what CV. AP rockets are not gonna cut it on US CVs, though but you know that. Fires are useless (as you know) but AP bombs... yeah, it will usually cost the planes... but... heheh. For a final finisher, it is worth it... cause yes you need to manage your planes. Yeah auto-DCP - well good luck on that, eh. It is overrated IMO, half the time I smack a BB (or whatever) you do not get flooding anyway. Now imagine some idiot dropping a full load of torps on something. Say it is an FDR, and so he will do 12-15K... to a CV, is there a difference?. Which is easy as the CV is standing still, sits behind an island, has no friends near, et cetera. Oh yes there is a difference: I have never seen a CV heal up... How many drops would it take. Because your team will help as well, if they can. ~50K HP on Haku, takes 3-4 strikes or so from FDR/Midway. AA doesn't matter, as you very well know. And he will not be manouvering... he will just eat all the torps or whatever you manage to drop. Autofighters... LOL, you know as well as I do they can be cheated. Fly in "after" them and they'll not respond before you have dropped. But yes guaranteed if I have a "leftover few" after an attack and I am near their CV, he's gonna get it. And if I get a hint of where he is and my position happens to be "relevant" I'll try kill him. I'll also put it in chat (how about I kill the other skypiggy, any help) and use F3. Try Bearn on... any other CV, really. Bearn has heavy AP bombs (and since Cv usually hides behind an island..). Also the bouncing bombs you can launch at such a distance you will not lose any planes at all. ANYTHING is possible, even on/with Russian CVs. All depending on your/their position. But you know where CVs usually hide. This does mean on some maps it is not handy. Also you'll not nab somebody like El2azer because I know what he does, he just spams fighters all over the place, and meanwhile he'll murder your team no problem. However the average CV-player, yes you will get him most of the time, and he will panic and be ineffective. Russian CVs I'm not sure are usable since I haven't researched them (only to T6). I do have Chkalov but find it quite useless. You can only strike once so if you want to use them to attack a CV you'll have no use for the team except some spotting. But the Russian CVs die just fine... even that Nahkimov but it does have a lot of HP. One strike extra... and mind if he finds you --> problem. So... yes CV has auto-DCP and yes CV has auto-fighters. But he has no heal. And which one is the most influential ship? Also - a fat, slow, parked up target... the player being occupied elsewhere. He might as well be drinking tea. Use any CV that carries a sh...load of torps, or heavy torps that can be dropped from "safe distance". Bouncing bombs work, too. Because you do not want his fighters to nab your squad (or only AFTER you dropped). So - drop and be gone... or with Kaga, drop torps at will and not give a damn (you have enough). DO NOT try to drop bombs with Kaga though or use rockets... as you'll know. With FDR you can even choose to whack him anyway - if you are prepared to take the losses. How much better is CV AA compared to anything else? Have you ever met a CV that specced into AA? You know how to dodge the black clouds... it is not harder if they come from a CV. There is just more of them. But if a savvy pleb like me can attack a Mino + a Salem and hit them with torps, a CV is not more difficult. I dropped plenty of those and I bet you have as well. First strike you can even just "slip in" from afar. Because he'll be watching his planes... not his hull. Then watch what he does... he might even use autopilot and get FFd. In which case, he is screwed. He might try to go on the counter-offensive... but he first has to find you, and YOU are alert... and ahead. I found that FDR is great for this stuff, but slow... it is because of the loitering, usually you discover the red CV. After dropping that Currywurst, hey look who is at the back of the map, ready to receive the leftovers... But the best is the German CV. It takes out other CVs with those AP rockets pretty damn quick, and it is there pretty quick. You need careful aim with those AP rockets, but mostly they do not move... or in a straight line... Wanna try it out? Maybe I gave you a new goal in WOWS. LOL. Watch it though, I get tempted to go too close and then his buddies kill me. As he will be quite happy to spot my CV for them. But usually I get him before he manages. And I take care to position such that he may spot me, but his buddies cannot hit me, and he has to get around MY buddies. And then I escape and kill his buddies, too... if the game doesn't end quickly.

    Best T8 Carrier now?

Well, maybe that is why I like Kaga. I never use rockets if I can help it. Just finished another Kaga game tonight, torpedoes all the way, finished off a DD with bombs. I do not even NEED the rockets, and that was a T10 game. Never ran out of torps... AT ALL.

    Best T8 Carrier now?

Well, either that or he'll go bleeeghhhh these ships suck, let's go play subs.

I dunno how it should manifest that, bad players will get bad WR and low score. Or do you mean, bad players could still have fun in Kaga? They'll have fun in anything. I've seen them Yolo in in DDs, dump torps that hit nothing, then die and they're still happy.
  5. I got a Silliwangi out of one of those. Doesn't do me much good, but it is still a premium T8 DD. Wouldn't know. I reset the US BB line (Montana) 6 times already, and just enjoy grinding through them. yeah I know, I am weird.

    General CV related discussions.

It is. Basically in Kaga you can play as you like. I have never done a "let's go for the max damage" run in Kaga. Mostly it is great to help your teammates (because sort of foolproof) and it is not far off the mark anywhere else. It is also much more capable in a T10 match because you have plenty planes up the wazoo.

    Best T8 Carrier now?

Shokaku is not that difficult, it just needs "target selection". Also needs plane management. This (to me) does mean that there are certain targets you cannot or MUST NOT attack. So, if you end up in a T10 game, and there is a naaassty Halland, I leave that Halland be in Shokek, while in Kaga or Lexi I'll just attack him if needed. Because in Shokek I'd bleed planes. Maybe better players can get that Halland, I certainly cannot do it. I can maybe scratch him a bit. But yes I can keep him spotted - which is why I need a divvy of capable players, who will at least shoot him. No use playing solo.

Shokek I play when I have capable divvies, it is great. Stats with 3 divvies: But having capable divvies means that I do not have to do "emergency repair crap", as in, try to save their behinds from... ehh... "situations" that they got themselves into. Then I prefer Kaga or Lexi... you can take more risk with those. Mind that I'm not that good, just a bit savvy. I know how to do it but I usually forget something. Which bites me in the rear, usually.
  9. BLUB__BLUB

    Best T8 Carrier now?

I'd take Shokaku when I have a decent division. It farms the hardest. Kaga or Lexi when a not-so-decent division, but I do not have Enty. Chkalov can farm hard but has no influence, all it does is just spam spam spam.

Correct, you must carry a different way. If possible... Best CV for me though. Main thing, you can "send them the other way" by using torps.

You just confirmed what I thought... Stop sailing smokeless DDs in open water, it will help as well. Granted it's not a guaranteed method, neither is zig-zagging.

    General CV related discussions.

Maybe he can smell them? Usually I just get torped though, some zig-zagging and praying to RNGesus is the only trick I know. Once you are spotted though, if nobody comes and helps, it usually ends with me sinking.

Kaga.... do not forget my beloved torpedo-spam-factory...

He is quite fast indeed (not so much for some Cvs though). He still cannot be at two spots at the same time. Well, you just use the minimap like anyone else - and you can also spec RPF. You cannot pick ANY fight. If there is a Halland you better stay away, for example. The only thing is that the CV will never get hit, but just lose his minions. It would be the same as "a DD never sinks but just his guns and torpedo launchers fall off". He'd grow them back but it takes a while. Suit yourself. Once more I am convinced that besides BB-babbies, there are also DD babbies, who do not care unless they are disadvantaged themselves. Farming BBs from 10km, no risk at all, is just fine to them. One-shotting BBs is also good, perma-spotting is great, unless somebody else does it...
  15. BLUB__BLUB

Why carriers cant attack submarines ?

Nah, I will run away (zig-zag a bit, even autopilot can manage that...) and wait for his underwater-time to run out. He'll never get me, usually I will get him as I can loiter over him unlimited time. I can even drop spotter planes (yes they're called "fighters"but LOL) and just farm on elsewhere. If he spots me, he is vulnerable for bombing.
  16. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

He will spot you for a short time, unless he is willing to loiter. And if he spots you at a place where his teammates cannot shoot you, then it is all upto him. He'll usually go find a fat Currywurst. You mean, like a Shima can spot a fat BB, keep him spotted, and torp him all game long? Not if they are behind an island - which they better, else they get blapped too. Against a DD a fat BB doesn't have that much options either, unless he makes a mistake. But yeah against a CV there are even less - which I think is wrong, too. Then again, you forget that the goal of this game is never to pick a fair fight. Though you seem to remember it when you play a DD, and then you complain.
  17. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

If he is sitting at the back, then it is a matter if "the occasion arises". Can you do it without spending too much time, is most relevant. Once I dropped a few torpies on a currywurst, and I see the CV in reach - hell yeah he's gonna get the last drop. OK I'll bite then. By using "the occasion". If he is far far away from anything this won't be effective, that is true. But a CV that moves himself to A10 or J1 is also quite ineffective, and not really worth killing. But you know the usual hiding places for a CV, on some maps it is more than feasible. I dunno how many CVs I kill on a weekly basis (as I play the other classes more), but it is at least one. For example on "strait", CVs always hide there. You can catch them on the run (as they move there). If you do that, teammates will usually BLAP them when you spot them (use F3... helps...). Also you can fly over the island and drop torps, depending on their position. On this map I usually kill one. It starts a war between me and their CV, usually. But mostly - I win. On the Two Brothers map, the CV usually hides behind these two islands. You can get him if he is a bit too far from the island, drop torps between him and island. He will spot you late... and you receive no FLAK since your planes are hidden behind the island. This works well for me since I usually move the CV in the channel so I am quite close. Here's another one, and it also shows what is "occasion". of course this doens't work when your buddies avoid that cap. But if they go there, I go with them, and I attack anything that is in that cap. Instead of turning around to drop a second load (not all the time though), I'll get the red CV. They usually park up there, and you can kill them quite easily.

First of all: as said, I do not have any smokeless DDs. Need to get A LOT better before I take a chance a with those... But I do sometimes not have any smoke ready, does that also count? Main thing is take care not to get in a position where you can be permaspotted, even in a smoke-DD. And yes usually I manage to do so - always keep a handy rock/island near. Going in wide open water is absolutely a no-no, unless you see the CV planes at the other end of the map busily farming some other hapless victim. When you ARE permaspotted then you'll most likely die - I manage to escape sometimes, but it is exception rather than rule. Which is why I keep a rock/island at short distance... I can hide behind that against CVs buddies - usually I manage to escape from the drops from the CV. But in open water, perma-spotted by the CV, and with his buddies around? Do you think you SHOULD survive that? I think you shouldn't. You'd also not survive if you were radared in that situation.

I think that may be the cost of the ammo you used. 360K base service cost, plus ammo.

    Hornet: Why I despise Discord.

I find torps the most reliable way to kill anything. Including DDs, or other CVs. Which is why I like Kaga so much....
  21. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

Well, really simple: if you think it is all BS, then how come? I killed plenty DDs too, but it was because they made a mistake. Or me doing something they did not expect - but I paid for it. If any good at all, they do not pay for anything and I am dead. Not seen many good players get killed off fast except for RNGesus hating them. I sometimes get killed quickly - but I 'm not that good, and usually I KNOW WHERE I MADE THE MISTAKE. Yes you lose planes - but the deletion of the red CV is a huge gain. Also - you might get some help. If you do not, well, then your team is potater anyway. So then either you kill the CV alone (might... possible?) or you go farm. Because you know you can't save taters. Once every 10 matches or so. But depends on what they brung and what I brung. And where they parked their CV. If they do not park it - then they are probably too smart. Yeah the endgame, well - usually there is nothing left except the CV. All you need to so is spot him, usually. So, after you state that, I am supposed to explain it to you? Have fun with that buddy. Killing the enemy CV is worth it, if you can. Free reign for your buddies, no more sky police. Just like RTS times. Check WR when I have some buddies... compare to solo WR: yes we will kill the enemy CV if we can. I'm quite sure you know how and when. And when NOT to do it. Because yes those times happen. And now you're moving the goalposts - from 7 minutes to "first". LOL. You're on your anti-CV horse here, have fun sitting there, not falling for it.
  22. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

No you can't. I have been hunted by a DD lots of times (in CA and BB), never saw him, and the result was inevitably the same: I died. Maybe this you can call DD-bias? Soon to become submarine-bias. If they are any good, there is nothing you can do about them, except MAYBE when you have teammates helping. There is no way you can send ANY decent player back to port in 7 minutes, except if RNGesus loves you. Which is, that broadside cruiser that gets blapped from afar by a BB, or something. But I agree that a CV is most unlikely to have such a thing happen. All that gets whacked is his torpedo-and-other-stuff-dropping minions. To kill a CV, you need another CV providing assistance. Similar to killing a DD - you need help from teammates. Well good luck with that... The only option remaining is to do it yourself - take a CV and do some GitGud. But you know that.
  23. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

It is. Sort of. WeeGee has screwed it up with CVs, there are just some "mitigating" measures. Unlike a BB against DDs you'll usually never have the chance to retaliate, even if the CV player sucks.
  24. Seems like mine is Cristoforo Columbo... > 65% total WR, 80% solo... and I always use it in CB.

Well, almost every T10 battle too, as they usually end in ROFLSTOMPS. You can't do enough damage when games end quickly.
