What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
BLUB__BLUB replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Hehehehe no contest really, we'd just stated that we'd see if we could do better. King George is still somewhat difficult for me. So far, best is this one, 1873 from @ForlornSailor (only 1591 by me so far). -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

But...did you beat us? Base XP? -
More like his team was the potato, really. We already capped 1 base, other teammates capped one more and the whole lemming train went on to the next. Why NOT try killing off the most influential enemy player? Inconsequential kill? I think by doing this I save half the team (if the CV is any good). He was very much NOT a potato, he was pretty good IMO. But he didn't get me... also I had DD support. I'll always try get the CV if I can. Better to kill the CV than some BB that's just borderhugging. I didn't say we patrolled the enemy spawn. If the whole team lemmingtrains around it is sort of where you end up, at a certain time. And then if I find a CV I'll definately try to kill him. I'll not leave the highest influencer alive if I can get him. You're dumb if you do. Usually they also try flee to their teammates... if they do, you keep half the team busy, I'd say good game. Most influential kill = kill the CV. If I have the occasion, I'll certainly do it.

I have put in the 'giant radar whining'thread that I think that's ridiculous indeed. But hey, torps go through islands too, sometimes. AA too, I think.
-
Might not have been Kaga, as I said. I remember it was IJN CV, and it had lotsa torps. Hood is faster, but only in a straight line, zigzagging and handbraking it doesn't get anywhere near 32 knots.... And it was really fast, well, compared to <T6 CVs, how slow is a Langley or a Bogue... DD had no problems. Sims... almost 40knots. And did not have to torp-dance, stayed unspotted. Why is ti t idiotic? I see many CVs hiding behind an island, not too far from a cap. Once you are in the cap, you could leave 'the wrong way'even ending up in enemy spawn. Lemming trains means you usually do. And then you just might get a good chance to hunt the CV. Especially if he's not aware of what is happening...
-
Might be. But I thought it was quick, at least compared to others. And to Hood (which I think is very fast). I could not get closer. I had to pull handbrake turns, but so did he.
-
Meh, looked damn ugly red color to me (I'm not sure it was Kaga though, might have been Hiryu or Shokaku). It did have a mighty load of torps. Did a lot of torpedo dance in Hood (didn't know that was possible). My mate had to create diversion else I'd not have lived. He dodged all the torps, too. And he was damn good. In that one operation, I use Hood to kill the carrier "King", it's a lot easier..
-
I've shot a Kaga once (I think it was, was IJN), but not killed it. I was in Hood... my mate kept him spotted and I was firing. But man that thing is quick. Couldn't get him before game ended. And he sure did bite back.
-
Yes they do, doesn't really work though against a DD and a CL (or a BB...). Usually they hide behind an island, then we go left+right... BOOM! If he doesn't get us first though. It's kinda fun. I think some even have guns, but when I saw the legendary German one, I didn't get a chance to look, really....
-
I thought you meant how it looked when you fire/aim. I think current 'binoculars' is more immersive though.
-
Damn, too bad. Means I'll still have to kill 'em myself. That's usually the most fun me and my divvy have. But it's kinda pathetic if they can't at least make a run for it. Lame!!
-
It is sort of the same when you use the spotter plane.
-
Yup, else it just gets a race of which CV kills the other one first. That would wear out pretty fast. Oh wait. I see DDs do that almost every game.
-
Then the AA-indestructibility is all there's left. How about, if you are really hard on the planes they crash-land on the deck and you loose HP? And have to wait until it gets fixed? Like the heal on a BB... heheheh!
-
Did you get pink colored?
-
Yes, indeed it is a better idea to,well, how do you say that - deduct spent planes, than to buff sy tuff that gets never used. As in, we will get more CVs, right? Suppose one blows all his planes, the others play it carefully. By buffing AA you'd 'punish' the careful CV playes as well, and the bad ones would learn nothing. How about, minimum squadron doesn't matter but if you blow 2/3 of the plane you will have a 'one torp wing'. At least bad players wouldn't have to worry about spread anymore, then.

Oh great, now it takes two hits before it is dead?

Why do I suddenly fail so badly at tier 7?
BLUB__BLUB replied to Praevasc's topic in General Discussion
DERP: The aiming I can handle, the steering is another thing... island ramming... MEGA-DERP: I keep ramming the Y key in an Iziyaslav, and then I am surprised there does not come any smoke. Duh, there is a lot more smoke from tyhe pipe though, as Y is now speedboast.... Also, ram Y in Leander, receive smoke - but where did that spotter plane go... oh wait... not KGV... arrghhh. -

Probably depends on the player. I've seen some do it with ease. I can do it with all BBs, and then I have to get used to cruisers again. -

I know: trying to cover the DD, scoring no points and getting BLAPped (I'm an expert...). But we won that game... due to me finding out the whole enemy team had lemming trained to A. Truth is: it's not you, decide after > 100 games if you're any good in the ship or not. And that's 100 games AFTER you fully equipped it. -
What I usually do, in a div (so, that's not a random...): - I speed ahead in the RN CL, (I do have the XL smoke skill on the captain...) - and then I race through the edge of the cap full speed, leaving a VERY LARGE smoke trail... - in which my DD mate sits while I GTFO (I'll stay near to defend him,.... have hydro if needed). He can move A LOT in the smoke if needed. If he gets radar/hydro-ed, I try to detect (preferably kill) the cruiser
-
They might even decide that you get 1 button for each squad, sort of like the consumables on other ships. And after using them, you have a cooldown period. and a max amount of using them. Like I have a 'reconnaissance plane' on my King George V. Press button, hey presto there it flies. I get range extended 16km --> 22km. And a nice 'aerial' view over mountains (damn islandhuggers). Due to captain skills I managed to make it 2 at same time (if you have one, it usually gets shot down before half the time is through). Even so, it flies for ~a minute or so (enough to squeeze off 5 salvos) and then has to reload for 5 minutes. Dammit. Now imagine a 'send them off'button that only works ONE at a time, and has a different cooldown for each one. That DD, if you do not kill it at first occasion, will go undetected and split.

It makes sense that it didn't make sense... because I thought Steel Ocean was sort of realistic. I must have been mistaken (or frunk as duck, which is rare, but does happen)... DúH! Checking stuff... I was confused with the Jingles thing on submarines (called Cold Waters).

Zao - New class cruiser : Featherweight cruiser
BLUB__BLUB replied to satoca1's topic in General Discussion
I don't have it, nor do I play that tier. But I have US light cruisers, and I see the 'problem'. The real problem is that heavy cruisers think they can beat light cruisers. Forgetting they have the same sort of crappy armour... just heavier guns. Yeah a heavy cruiser can one-shot my broadside light cruiser. I'll just three- or four shot that broadside heavy cruiser then, LOL. Guess who is going to win... I'd not bet on the one giving broadside. -
Normally the spotting range would vary depending on the ship type, too (and no matter what plane type). But it would be far larger than 5km. Warships had long coal/oil smoke trails. They never came alone either. From other ships, spotting would be as far as the horizon. Most important factor being the weather. So even that 1-2 km isn't much realistic - but who cares, they're games. The weirdest stuff is the brilliant communications between ships. Hydro or radar detects a DD in smoke, within 1 second the whole team clearly knows... Hydro and radar should be nerfed in that way, IMO.
