I am that second picture man.... I try so hard...

Win Rate and High stat player attitudes

I'm quite surprised nobody has put these up yet... It is what I always think when I think of >65% unicums...
  3. What it says, I am happy to have Hood.... Makes me think... I sort of had the same problem with Orion...

    PINK DUE TO BLIND BATS

Salty is good. After all this is a sea game. Being abusive is where it goes overboard.
  5. Today met lots of sealclubbers in T3 (I'm grinding the IJN cruisers), lucky for me nobody I knew....
  6. That's not 'on sale' mate, that's normal price plus a bit more for something I'd not do anyway. But nice to try help

    PINK DUE TO BLIND BATS

    ...aaaand he appreciates the effort.
  8. Thought about it, but I already have an Arizona so why take Texas... though I have kept the New York because I like it. Tempting. If Marblehead was T7/8 would be good... now it's just too low tier... can't do operations... (but I have the captain... hmmm...). I miss the Omaha a bit.... I do not play DDs usually but tempted to get Smith or Tachibana... form a troll division (son has Vampire). I play Japanese cruisers a bit, but Yubari can be had for coal as well I think... No sale yet... might get Smith... must say the only ship that tempts me is Kidd, but it's not on sale.
  9. Hood is great if you like a crossbreed cruiser/BB at Tier 7. It does have a few quirks. I enjoyed Queen E - for the AP. Liked the HE much less. It just was sloooowwwww... like a snail. The gun rotation in QE is also dreadful (Warspite is better). The HE is a bit unimpressive. Hood has the same guns, however now they rotate FAST. You can half-steer at full throttle, and they keep up easily. Also Hood is FAST. It's along ship, but it steers OK too. The AP is same as QE, the HE even less impressive. Sometimes it has an RNGesus attack, usually it's good. Much larger healthpool. I use Hoo0d as a trainer for cruiser- and BB captains, and I like it really much. Best is, sail it 'at speed', half of the people shooting at you misses because you are quick. You can vary speed and confuse them even more (plus the DDs... their white line won't match up anymore). Try to 'rush' some cruisers and shoot them to bits with AP, then leave them in the dust. If you manage to keep distance you can shoot up Gneisenau. And annoy Tirpitz and Bismarck. Don't take those two on alone, unless they are ~half health - and keep distance. It comes with free perma-camo though so why would you take this one?
  10. Actually i thought that was typical USA, lots of freedom stars. But my son (he has the ship, I don't) decided he'd give it the bird... so no sale.

    Radar Discussion Megathread

I agree, but the thing is radar counters smoke AND it also counters hiding behind an island. It's not radar, it's X-ray vision.
  12. This is what I (well, try) to do too. I have plenty BBs and do not see anything I'd want on offer. I'd rather use the free XP on a fat captain. Ships get so much better with some abilities.
  13. I do too mate, maybe that is the problem. I'm too much used to AP. Never used HE much not even in Orion. From my calculations, if I put IFHE on KGV I can do the same to most (also higher tier) cruisers. Useful, I think. Best thing, doesn't really matter what angle either since HE disregards angle and just uses caliber-calculations. Maybe this will make me go har-har again, right now I only go boo-hoo a bit. Not really true, I hit many cruisers and even destroyers - at ~17km, from T5 in the New York. There's many potatos stationary 'hiding' behind islands... or just going straight, because they think everything is too far away. Formost, that is 'lomg distance'at 15km. But i know what you mean. I like to get in on the action too. Unfortunately, at T7 and up cruisers get so powerful they can BBQ you. Get 2 or 3 of those focussing you and you are toast, unless you stay back. Seems it does have its reward, though. Very boring indeed, but it does.
  14. I wonder about the dmg. Maximum HE-shell damage is less thanin QE. Fire it sure gets more. But ships get larger heal, too. Lighter ships are not the problem, the problem is you can't even do Jack Sh^t agains same tier BBs.
  15. I think that's highly likely. I also see them shooting HE 90% of the time. Probably this is why.
  16. IMO it isn't any better (or maybe worse) that Queen E, except for the speed and the fire chance. And it faces one tier higher, so I wonder why people think it is OP. The cynic in me says that maybe this is because it is much more suitable for camping. BTW the rudder shift in top hull from QE is 14.1 (with SGM2 40% less... = 8.46sec...), has a shorter turning circle... no cigar! Oh goody. But the HE of KGV is even weaker than of QE, less caliber (so less pen) and less damage. OK more fire... IFHE here we go. Same problem I have with KGV, I think time for IFHE (get more pens with HE, and HE doesn't overpen...)
  17. It can, depending on the potato content, and the division. In fact I'd probably feel better in a QE than in the KGV. KGV can get as low as tier 5 opponents too, but it doesn't feel better for me, only worse. Maybe I have to discover this OP-ness of KGV what everybody is talking about. So far it seems pretty crap. It's faster (26.6kts vs 22.33), but the rudder is even worse. (790m/21sec vs 680/20.1). oh and you cannot get rudder upgrade for KGV. To me, it seems that you are right. KGV doesn't feel feel like an upgrade... I think the AP on QE is better than the AP on KGV. WikiWOWS says QE-AP = 11.400 (same as Hood but QE has more guns), KGV-AP = 10.500, so that sort of confirms. But that's not all. Also, QE has the 381mm and KGV has 356. I'm not so much a numbers man but probably this means less penetration, too. KGV has two guns more, but needs to rotate quite a lot more than QE to get the rear ones to fire. I wasn't very impressed with the HE on QE, so I rarely used it. Seems like all it has is better fire chance. KGV-HE=6100 (fire 41%) and QE-HE=6300 (fire 35%). I think the accuracy on QE is also better. (241 max dispersion for KGV vs 211 from QE). Queen E can as well. Maybe it takes slightly longer (but will kill it faster than a KGV...). Might have just met lots of Nelly-potatoes though. That's probably it then, I have seen them ablaze with 3 fires and I think even worse. You see the heal kick in, goes one bit up and then two steps down. But I've even shot them in a Leander, and that has only AP, and got pretty good damage harvest from that. In an Omaha I just set a few fires and then continue with the AP which shoots fine through most parts except belt and citadel. Haven't seen one yet in Dallas... might be fun. That said it will screw you over when it hits you (seems like a bi hard though for them).
  18. Could have fooled me. I did have a few games of 80k dmg though (one over 100k). I can't say it was just bad luck though. I haven't got Nelson, but when I met Nelson in the QE that was always a good laugh. Usually a Nelson fires HE, the accuracy seems kinda shite (over 10k hits nothing), and they try to 'sneak'and get their noses blown off by CLs. They seem to have a troll heal but out in the open they get HE spammed so bad it just doesn't heal enough. With QE just shoot it with AP from ~14k and you'll rack up the points. KGV seems to me like made of cake. The frontal aromor especially. I never got hit that bad. The guns are good though, but I seem to be a bit lost with the HE.
  19. That 'TBH' is unfortunately a bit beside the point, you probably missed that I play in div (with my son, he likes DDs and CLs) 99.9999% of the time. Hey and guess what, his winrate is different (LOL) and we do not know how. But sure could do more damage, if I was 'hungry'. But I am not. If I smack a cruiser to 10% health, he finishes the job. I usually have low number of kills, unless I kill one by devstrike. So, maybe a bit beside the point but you're right. If I took more 'opportunistic' shots instead of holding until usefull, could do better. I div in QE, and in KGV. Yes the QE stats are better (not great though). And I am ware that KGV stats suck, as I put it. Partly due to not having it 'spaded' (I did not even have credits for the rudder steering time and such), will get better as now it is 100% spaded and equipped. But I am guessing (as everybody says it is soooo OP) it is also due to me. The main thing ios probably HE is very good in KGV, and the AP sort of sucks. I never used much HE, not even in Orion or Iron Duke. So my guess is part of it is I do not know how to use HE in the KGV. Any tips/pointers would be welcome. I'll probably (trololol) put IFHE on the captain. Could be. I have a record that is much higher, and with some luck I could do that quite a few times, or improve it. However it is tier 6, if you face tier 8 (which is more often than not) it is not that good... and the lowest you get is tier 5. I'd not know if it is the worst, I only have NewMex (and Arizona.. but well, that's same) to compare. I think it is pretty good though, with nice AP (I almost never use HE in it). They might not be braindead, but dead they're not much use either, because the result is the same. Mainly this results in me running out of friends quickly (they either flee or get blapped) and being burned to a crisp pretty quickly. Seems like that's sort of my fault too. In T4/5 it was the way to go, in T6 (even wehen uptiered) I could get away with it, but seems in KGV, and especially when uptiered (meet T9... argh) I'll need to find out how to adapt.
  20. I use it as a mega-cruiser, packing a good AP punch. Must say the HE sucks, but I never use that except when hunting DDs. Speed flag + every possible thing on it for max health/heal, and the rudder shift for more zig-zag. It's a cruiser-blapper upto T8. In T9, somewhat less and have to be careful. I expected KGV to be somewhat like it but it's absolutely not even comparable.
  21. Guess why I like Hood.... In your case, they switched plans, also happens if they get sunk.... Now try this one... mind I usually play in divs so I have a loyal DD or CL with me (who takes most kills). And I didn't have KGV fully spaded until now. So it will get better, but the necessary playstyle is vastly different. The WR however is totally potato.
  22. This I found very very ship-dependent. You're better off searching the forum for the specific ship, and asking about that specific one. It also depends what tier you get for enemies. For example, I did OK in the Queen Elizabeth but so far I suck in the King George V. It's not the tier, I have a Hood which I think is a real troll ship even in tier 9. But the difference between KGV and QE is really requiring a change in playstyle.

    Battleship Rework

On the other hand, I had a game, I blasted a cruiser (1 shot, 2 cits, devstrike) and he was right in front. Then I managed to shove the corpse ahead and use it as a torpedo shield, that was funny. I'll try to do that again and take a screenshot. This is kinda BS, as you can't spot through islands either. I know how the game works. There's a visual, which has lots of vertices, and then there's a collision object which is kinda crude. The collision object is why you do not see through. Duh, then explain to me why my spotter plane usually gets shot down. Now I have the captain skill of having two. Then at least I can spend the full time, usually.
  24. I'm guessing this is what happens to most players, and by the time they reach tier 10 they are stuck with it.
