I had the most funny thing happen. Had a CV player on my team that started bu apologising, his first game in a 'higher tier'CV (manual drop). But at least he killed one and spotted OK. My team starts flaming him, nevertheless, and of course, for being a n0000000B. Then what happens (t7 game, I am in the Hood) I spot the enemy CV, and our Haida goes after it, so it stays spotted. And I have nothing better to shoot at, so I shoot the CV. BAM. BAM. Cv dead. Didn't get to score anything. Now we have the Cv advantage. For about 5 seconds. Then our CV gets killed as well. And even while I manage to shoot a cruiser and a BB, and the Haida kills another BB, we lose... And then the Haida goes... "well at least we had dinner, if life gives you potatoes, well, make fries"... ROFLOLLMAO -
They could make that easily balanced: if not detectable, cannot cap. What use is a piece of map at the bottom of the ocean? My guess is they'll make it so that it has to be at periscope depth or at the surface. It would be fun if they made capping go SLOWER when it is at periscope depth, and NORMAL speed when at surface.

AH well, if I had a sub I'd go for the BBs first, before somebody else gets to them. Let the DDs duke it out with the cruisers in the caps, pleb nty time to sort that after they have killed eachother. I'll clean up the leftovers and not try to be the hero, thanks. -

Well, good luck upgrading King Worst the Pinata... usually it doesn't go fast... this one will be even slower. Until you have it spaded, it will be nothing like DoY... I guess the AA matters, but haven't seen a lot of CVs lately. (except the T9 one I burned into the ground... LOL). -
Why distance... I'm sure real subs never knew exactly. Between 1-5 miles? But 'radio location' should work. Yes, but only when they are at surface or periscope depth. And punishment should be higher detection. Correct. But radar also goes through mountains in WOWS. Arcade confirmed... Offer sheep and everything to RNGesus. When carriers cannot be deplaned? And DDs have infinite? I'd say no. Me too. But even better, put some random positions for subs and have them spawn there. Even at the edge of map, on enemy side... or (when teams are north/south) subs spawn east/west... Agreed. BBs doing thaty deserve to die. Fast. By subs. Most did have 1 gun. Some even had AA (very little, but well...).

What 'changes'? They are already there. Some BBs already have radar, too. This doesn't mean they all get 10km hydro. More like 3 or 4, like the rest of the ships. If a DD comes within 3-4km he's spotted no matter hydro or not (and in smoke, at 2 km 'definate aquiring range'). And if hydro can't be changed, then hey, we'll have "ASDIC" and it will not affect hydro. That, indeed, remains to be seen. Belfast is not that bad though.

The quality is not the problem... if I play bots (I do set up 'idiot training rooms', sometimes - as in: all bots have T8 and I have an Omaha...) it is much more predictable. With real players you do not know what they can do, and what they might do. I scared off DDs by launching torps that would be never reach them... LOL. The game is very very good with bots, too. But I'll take my chances with players, much more interesting I think. -

In theory, they can. Have you ever played GTA5 with 20 friends? And those King Tigers could happen. There is no lack of potatoes. I'd love it. And yes they would and they can. Look at GTA5. How big is that map... I do agree a large map would be needed. Plus 36 vs 36, and maybe lots of bots. In 2005 we already did this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GT_Legends where we had 36 online. A quad-core server would take 4 parties playing 36... no problem. Me and a couple of friends modded it into this (see the hidden). That is 100% non-original game content... and we balanced it pretty good. -

What's a PvE? BTW usually I get blasted after 2-5 minutes, and if I do not it is because I never even see an a enemy (so I do not score points anyway). This time they seemed to think 'oh another T7 potato' (and they weren't far off) but they made the mistake that I am not a TOTAL potato. It doesn't happen often that I see a CV trying to get behind the mountain at B-cap... or some big T9 BBs sailing brioadside like they didn;t care (OK maybe they in deed did not care). Usually the only thing I notice from CVs are torps up my behind, and I see some camping BBs far away, while I get wrecked by cruisers. IF you have it spaded... al premiums come fully spaded. Else the KGV steers slower, has less range and less HP. Unspaded = awfully bad. I think they are pretty similar. Mainly depends on luck IMO (read as: MM farting the other way for a change) what results you get. From WOWS Wiki: Overall, Duke of York is essentially a King George V that sacrifices main battery reload and additional Repair Party () consumables for increased anti-aircraft firepower, Hydroacoustic Search (), and premium bonuses. -

I'll give that a try. 1. That would look about the same as when you have two BBs, or two DDs. Or maybe two deplaned carriers... tick-tock-tick-tock... game won by points. It might look better than having a game where 10 big fat full heath BBs are playing stake-out though. 2. Yes does. First you'll learn to protect/support your DDs, second probably WG will balance it so when the enemy has subs, so will you. Any further questions? They will, in the end, put them in PvP, as the idea is to merge planes, tanks and ships to a whole game, someday. But the problems you find there can be voided or are non-existent. 1. Let's say there is a submerged sub in the cap. It is very likely that WG will not let iot cap unless at least at periscope depth. Now what that DD needs, but also WANTS to do is depthcharge that sub. SO it will rush that sub, like a cruiser would rush a DD. 2. ALL ships need a rock/paper/scissors thing. But not necessarily all in the same amount. I can counter a DD in my BB. It will just be a bit harder than when I was in a CL. 3. I doubt that, BBs are most susceptible to torping. But it might be time for some other strategies than just 'cap or kill'. -
Boarfff. Submarines should not be detectable after they have submerged deep enough. Periscopes should be spotted, and if they surface they should be sort of like DDs. But when not deep enough, the hydro should work - and that has enough range IMO. Just more ships will need to get hydro. and they can balance that: - some subs diving faster; - subs not being able to dive (or sink...) when they have holes in them; - smaller subs having more concealment so not having to dive that deep; - some ships having more hydro and hydro-range than others. Diving is just like a DD having smoke. Only this time they can disappear... for a while. Like a DD can evade when he has been radared of hydroed. Nothing much new. I'd still attack a sub, like I do a DD, if I get surprised in my fat BB. Eat a few torps, but kill it, no problem. BBs need not have anything except some have hydro. They are faster than subs, so should just keep moving anyway. Done with the camping. If they detect (or suspect) a sub, get the F outta there, or else prepare to sacrifice a bit of that health pool (with large torpedo bulges).

A bit better in the Kreng Troll the Filth, T9 but a win for a change and finally got to shoot something. Guess I am somehow learning to drive tyhis floating pinata. Only 1.5 more points to stick IFHE on it. Helps eh, if the CV shows up... LOL... yes T9 also has potatoes, killed the CV. Tried the AP too but might as well throw a wet fart. The HE was much better, I wonder how it will work when I have the IFHE on it. Mostly shatters now. Somehow I still don't like the ship much though. Not a keeper I'm afraid... much better have Queen Elizabeth. @ForlornSailor & @lafeel the record still stands at 1667 base XP for me but not bad... -

I suppose the diving will be a 'consumable' with sort of reverse cooldown, in this case the air running out will be 'cooldown'. And, like in a DD, you'd be pretty numb to cap with the smokescreen on cooldown... unless you are sure there's nothing there. Counters will be easy. Radar & spotting on surface/periscope, hydro when submerged. Shoot/torp them on surface, torp (shoot? mighty small though) them at periscope level, drop depthcharges when fully submerged. DDs will get depth charges, probably some cruisers too. I guess some/most BBs will get hydro. Subs can get leaks which can only be repaired at surface (that will be the last dive then...), or maybe they can repair ONLY at surface, or maybe they cannot dive if certain items are damaged. It's all about balancing, let's see how good a job they do. They could even have a special thing 'crash dive' that makes some subs dive faster than others. Man there are so many things that can be used to balance subs.

I hope it helps. The problem is not ONE cruiser - it is also my playstyle - I tend to follow the DDs and CLs. That makes ME the sole target (as the rest is campoing) for LOTS of cruisers. I need to quit that. T7 is not the problem. See what I do in a T7 match (if the other team don't die like flies). Usually something like this. Problem: most are not T7 MM. 10x 356, 6100 on full pen + 41% does not equal 8x 381 6300 + 35% - true. I think QE is better, except the LULZ (drunk or on coke) RNG. If you hit anything you actually got pens from HE (angle doesn't count, but the caliber does, for HE). With KGV I just don't. Shatters, shatters shatters. Yeah more fire. But... they put that out, and in T8/9 they know where to hide AND they have the captain skills (OK, except za Zjermans). You won't get much chance of a perma-fire. I was actually much better off with QE. Firing AP gave better damage than this HE-fire-crap. And anything AP-shot at least STAYS damaged. It doesn't really make up. Lets say I can see them 30 seconds, and they can see me 60 seconds. That makes 3 salvos for me ( 3x 10x 6100) = 180,000 dmg. Meanwhile they get 7 salvos (e.g. Helena), which is 7 x 15 x 2200 = 231,000 dmg. 95 shells from them vs 20 from me. Assuming same RNG (sacrifice sheep). And that's a T7 cruiser. Now take Cleveland, 9 x 12 x 2200... Yes MM is my friend at T7. Or would be... but not at T8/9. And they usually do not come alone (I do, which is stupid, I know). Unfortunately shooting AP at those cruisers usually gives many overpens, unless I can get the citadel (even then I need a few... not instakill like an Omaha). LOTS of stuff can bounce the AP. I think almost all T7 -and-up BBs can bowtank me. Besides that, the further away, the less powerfull AP becomes. Where I had sometimes sacrifices enough sheep to RNG, QE would give me good pen dmg with the spotter. With KGV, just forget it. More shells hit, but far less pens. Yes that is true. Unfortunately they sort of overmatch me on all sides. If they hit, which is questionable because of the LULZ dispersion they have. Oh hey, guess what happens. I find a (GERMAN!) Bismarck sitting in his own cap. Barely moved from spawn. So, shoot HE with spotter plane. BAM, fire. Then one or two things happen. He puts out my fire, and by the time I reload about 5 cruisers have put so many perma-fires on him I can forget it. Or I get the full 3 salvos out on him, RNG craps on me a bit, but I take away half his health - nobody else shoots at him, because they are all camping... my spotter goes cooldown... Five-ten minutes later he has healed a lot and has killed half of my buddies. Well... HE happens, I guess. But... yes preferred target, I already found. I think I'll sort of auto-overmatch (as angle doesn't matter with HE) T9 BBs then and pen their bow-in plating, for a change. I will probably also citadel cruisers whatever angle I shoot them. Slight angle with AP, no pen. Also, overpen is impossible using HE. And the loss of speed on HE doesn't matter. At 18km, will still hit just as hard as at 10, while AP will not. We'll see. If it is shite, well, just reset captain skills... Appreciated. I think it is the playstyle + MM too. If I get a 'normal' game I do fine though. But these seem to be getting rarer... I'm not very good, but I'm also not really bad. I tend to stick somewhere in the upper half of the team, sometimes top 3 (win or lose). Also the damage I deal in the KGV (38k) is higher than in the QE (28k) - that's over 30% more average damage, and still losing badly. If I'd get the same sort of MM I got in QE I'd be doing fine, one tier up and >30% more damage should be good, or not?

Well at least they try. Some other game just looks at what the potatoes do, and then adjust the tier accordingly... Some things are shite indeed, but I see many many things where they can adjust 'flavours' and performance.

Seems like an easy fix to me, in an arcade game. Of course, there are also a lot of easy fark-ups. The rock-paper-scissors effect stands or falls with the amount of rocks and papers and scissors in the game. Ideally all of the above should have some counter against the other.

That's about the same I found. Also, better use insane angle (40-45 degrees) in KGV than showing nose or rear. You need to show much more 'side' on this thing than on every other ship, due to the weak plating. Yeah it is more like a cruiser, but a lot slower. In T8/T9 it is hard to run & hide and you'll be quickly burnt to a crisp. Loved the QE punch, having a difficult time coming to grips with this KGV. IFHE next, and then BoS.

Yes that works, but only in NOT T8/T9 games, as even the damn cruisers will pen the hell out of King Craptard. The hitting is not the problem - it shoots better than Queen E, which has sort of 'random LULLZZ'. If I shoot at distance with Queen E it is either a miracle blap or it is an awesome splatterfart (also, I shoot at DDs...). King Craptard shoots pretty accurately, but might as well shoot (flaming) beercans. Even that doesn't help much, at T8/9 most have fat captains on them (plus I do not last long once they find me). Mostly agreed. But crapping on cruisers is not so nice when they crap back twice as fast. I'm beginning to share the sentiment. Wait for it... gonna save up 4 points for IFHE. I'll make it Troll Craptard the Filth. I can hit pretty reliably with it, better than QE. Just AP seems made of rubberballs, and the HE, yes it causes fires, but never massive damage. My guess is 356mm HE will pen just about anything - since the angle doesn't matter. Plus it will never overpen. And still 38% fire chance. Warspite is indeed better. But the main thing with QE is that dispersion comes and goes, at least IMO. Sometimes it is brilliant. Sometimes all the gunners are on the grog, and sometimes they're on coke. At lest if you hit something it makes a big hole. I never play co-ops though. But bot farming I know from operations.

I agree om the T8 thing... this is kinda ridiculous. After Queen E (which I thought was OK, not OP but nice ship), this was... well... ehh... crap. I never used HE much on QE. Did just fine with it. And I was just joking... though I do have "some problems" with KGV, this is mostly due to: - ending up in 90% T8/T9 matches; - not understanding HE much (I even smacked AP arounf in the Orion and all that... so...); - the AP from KGV being AWFUL compared to QE (and the HE, frankly, despite the fire chance not much better --> low caliber). As you correctly pointed out, the KGV hull can be penetrated by anything (even T8/T9 cruisers can do it... and I meet lots of those). You forgot to mention that due to the lower caliber the pen is bloody awful too. And then what do you get, 42% fire chance when every [edited] and Harry have 19pt captains. Also, seems like the higher the tier, the campier the playstyle needs to be and that's not really my thing. I'm not great, but not THIS bad, usually. Main problem: games last not even 5 minutes. The team gets ROFLSTOMPED (1), or the enemy gets ROFLSTOMPED (2). Case 1, I collect little points because well, we get splatted in 5 minutes. Case 2, I collect little points because the short-lasting feeding frenzy is not near enough. Last few days have been especially amazing though (but not in the good sense). You have probably seen it... from the winning team (LOL).
