    Operation Narai

I usually killed it by sailing ALMOST into the harbour, and making sure to be there early. And then shooting over THAT mountain range, if necessary - but it no longer works. I can't get cits on that CV anymore, it seems (2 salvos used to be enough).

KGV can hardly kill it.... and the AA on it is sub-par. Both Hood and KGV will have trouble with that DD and CL on steroids. If you can't put down the CV in the harbour, well... we still need to try harder at that one.

This is NOT the case with the RN BBs after T7. They depend heavily on the team. In 'landslide' wins (and losses ) as currently in the meta, you just cannot score any better. With KGV and Monarch, it is a 'damage over time' issue. You just get no big scores when games end quickly. And you never get kills anyway - even when I have a big score, as in: burnt down 90% of a BB, somebody closer will claim the kill.

I'll still say Hood is good (they must have changed that damn CV and his buddies, I get NO CITADELS, used to be BOOM BOOM dead). Usually after I shot King I went into harbour, this meant the DD and the Phownix would come after me, plus I'd shoot the Dallas. But this time, when I managed NOT to become a submarine (OK rarely), did lots of damage in the end-harbour though. Whacking cruisers, and BBS only need 2 salvos usually, is good in Hood (except when you guys leave nothing to shoot at dammit). King George can't deal with anything much. Armour is non-existent and the real punch just isn't there. (Monarch is a bit better - should have been the upgrade on KGV, but in T8 it is relatively even worse off). Yeah that DD and the Phoenix are kinda fishy. I bet WG has done something to them (steroids). Maybe we should try a DD to torp that King CV. Akatsuki is probably good. My div-mate has it, he also kills transports 100% with Sims. Maybe we should try Sims/Akatsuki. I bet he'll make minced meat of that DD and that damn Phoenix as well. Sims might be better for AA. TOTALLY understandable. I think I cheered too. Also, what do you think I said when he sunk my Hood (again)?

    Operation Narai

Yesterday I have joined up (I mean with some of those people with above). They shot the first assault group so fast, I could not even kill one lousy cruiser in Hood. We were also shooting the CV "King"when it was in the harbour - before it even left, but I think that has been buffed, as we could not kill it (with Hood and Gneisenau) before it went behind the rocks. Found something I didn't know - that DD from CV "King" comes to harbour entrance first, where it tries to torp the convoy. Plus there's a Dallas that is capable of killing the first transport that goes in. Will cost you a star.

That thing is a zombie. I hit him full in the middle with Hood, and no cit, just 1/4 off his health. I have also hitit straight on but that doesn't help either. Today I shot a Shcorszszszsz in randoms with Hood. BAM devstrike, from 14km. Shot another Shcorszszszsz with HALF OF THE GUNS from New Mexico, devstrike, he wasn't even fully broadside. I suspect WG have shrunk a Minotaur or something.

    Operation Narai

If you finish the mission, it is very hard to do more than 200k damage. Because if you finish, it means everybody else did their job and also took score. SO, all those blappable cruisers weren't 100% your XP-snack. Same as big fat score in randoms. Usually it is a loss. Your team needs to be potatoes, and the other team too. They need to be such, that they do not lose in 5 minutes, just provide enough resistance for you to have time to kill lots of ships. But they don't need to be good - else they will eat all your precious XP before you can.

    Operation Narai

Boat73 and me will be on tomorrow. We have been grinding the T8 (Skidmark and Bone-arch) but it was horrible. We got mostly uptiered and yes there are potatoes even bigger than me.
  9. You can do it like me, still have two languages, one keyboard layout. BTW I sometimes have the 'shift bug' as well. When pressing shift, no zoom.
  10. Nope. Not that issue... I have kicked it out, and still does. Might be the same thing after all. I found though that entering chat and typing something and then exit chat solves it. sometimes.
  11. BLUB__BLUB

    Operation Narai

It's stupid really, all other cruisers are 'blappable' (no wonder, a tier 5 Omaha or Emerald vs T7... ===> INSTABLAP). Then let them at least put a Zao or Des Moines or something there, makes more sense.
  12. I have the same thing sometimes with manual AA. Can't CTRL+klick on squadrons of planes. I noticed the normal 'fat arrow' cursor then changes to a very narrow up/down arrow. This fixes itself when you start the next round, happens maybe 1/100 games. I suspect it is a keyboard issue, as that sometimes 'resets' itself to a different layout. Where pressing SHIFT+9 gives the "?" instead of "(".

    Operation Narai

I guess, IFHE too. I have it on Hood... (same captain as was on KGV, now he's on Monarch...). The fire chance SHOULD get less, but I notice the contrary. I think WG is not telling the truth. I think fire chance is only when you get pens, and far less on shatters. But, well. And yes I know I can overmatch his bow. Shot him 3 times, and he lived!!! Same match, shot the Iron Duke that spawns at start, WHAM one salvo, deleted. I suppose it's a Zombie Phoenix.
  14. BLUB__BLUB

    Operation Narai

You mean that 'little cruiser' that is guarding the CV "King"? I suspect though that it's NOT REALLY a Phoenix.... I had many trouble with it even in Hood. I have never seen a Phoenix shoot that fast, nor have that accuracy, nor cause that many fire, nor being that indestructable.... The only thing in Narai being normal is the BBs. The Iron Duke I can sort of blap like a cruiser. Most cruisers are also one-shot-kills (lower rtier, fat BB, and they sail broadside). However there are a bunch of them that are on steroids... I think that Phoenix is one of them. Also, that CV "King", WTF, it drops 12 torps with minimal space between them. It's insane.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Yes that was excellent. Changed the Hood into a submarine quite a few times... ah well. Every team needs a potato. It's meeeee ---> We had 5 stars most often, one fail (LOL). The King Troll tha Filth didn't do well in Naraii either (as expected), so I sold it. Got the Monarch, and the IFHE captain is on it... I'll call it the Bone-arch. I get full pen on Yamato with it (and he gets ful citadels on me, LOL). In a T8 game it's really really good though. 3rd game (and I still need the upgrades and the captain is a halfwit). Flanked the enemy and had a good time shooting them from the rear. Brawled a Bayern (poor sod) and got full pen with IFHE (he couldn't angle...). Never mind he had 3 friends... until his 4th friend came along which was an Ala-BAM-a. So yeah, BAM went the Bone-arch. Still a nice result (even though we lost as my team let them cap the base):

    Operation Narai

I did this a few times in Hood. Then I loiter around for a bit, shooting Missouri if it's not dead yet. The thing here is, when Missouri is not dead it will shot me, usually though the whole group (except "Transport Kill Fiji") is still together, which makes Missouri turn behind the island. Then it is easy... shoot it because it has now turned the guns the wrong way... Gneisenau can torp it (use the right launcher, makes Missouri turn, turn right too and torp it when it exits from behind the island). When Missouri is finished all enter harbour (Hood steams straight on to kill the CV that is back there, full AA). Watch out though as the DD and CL from King are still alive and are right near entrance - they WILL torp you. If you have a quick "Transport Kill Fiji" he'll be back at same time, sort of.

A welcome to submariners.... HMS HOOD torpedoes ??

Well, it is really easy. If Hood has torps, it is the pre-WW2 version, and the AA has to go. SO make it a choice either have 'hull 1' or 'hull 2'. Torps or AA, LOL.
  18. BLUB__BLUB

    Operation Narai

Might be, I'm much more confident in Hood. Better health pool, better armour and not necessary to show so much side. Haven't tried King Troll the Filth yet I've done it in Hood once, the problem is 30 sec reload so NEVER MISS *edited* Gneisenau is better there - much sturdier and has torps. Yeah better have 2BBs, you'll need one for Missouri (?) and just one hasn't got enough BPM to get all the jobs done. The Deputy of [AS13] is a real nutcase, LOL. He wants to try it with "full division all DDs". Could be fun. Sometimes we go in 4-5 players and 'do not bring friends'. He calls that 'pants down mode'. Sometimes we even make it (Newport), but no five stars hahahaha!
  19. BLUB__BLUB

    Operation Narai

Yeah you better. Or have a herd of goats to sacrifice to RNGesus. Then you might get a div that makes it (no 5 stars though). The DD is why best not take Hood. I have trouble with it too. However my div mate takes a Fiji, goes alone, shoots them all and then comes back for more. Take care to SHOOT the fort that is there from distance with the BBs, as soon as he spots it. Else you need a BB and something as CL guns do not kill the fort quickly enough. To have 5 stars all the forts need to die too. Matters more which one does what. Atlanta can go kill transports but any CA/CL will have a hard time getting shot at by forts. You can send the CLs after carrier King, but usually they do not make it. Scharnhorst is GOOD here though. Yeah really. ONE CL or fast BB is enough for the transports. I've had random games where THREE BBs went, and managed to ff it up anyway. My div mate used it instead of Fiji, killed the whole transport group and then came back for more. But you DO NEED to kill the fort. We've done it with 3DDs no problem... one went for the transports, the other one went for Montana and after that helped Hood with carrier King. That time we finished King and the DD and the CL. They both put the whole transports in smoke when they entered the harbour, went really great. A matter of deciding who does what, AKA everybody needs to know what to do. A carrier can be a real asset if he knows what to do (kill the Montana, or whatever that big fat US BB is). He should spot stuff like that CV King, and torp the Montana - which is really hard to kill and will go straight through the transports if he lives past the islands. A carrier can also be a nuisance... if he decides to go torp the starter-attack waves, these scatter. The cruisers that are usually sailing dumbly broadside are then very hard to hit. Plus he'll be out of planes when the transports reach the harbour.

    Operation Narai

A Colorado? Mannnn..... any CA should be able to do it alone, one with torps is best. Gneisenau or Scharnhorst, OK too. Hood... can be done. Beste: Fiji. Easy job. The CV "King" spawns right in the middle of that harbour, and leaves to the left. If you have a Hood (or any fast BB) you can sail ahead after the fat US BB has been dealt with. That CV spawns broadside (with a cruiser and a DD). If you get detected, the DD smokes the CV. But, using Hood, you are able to swing out the back and deal TWO cits per AP salvo (use Dunkerque/ Nelson?). Sail straight ahead and you can kill it in 2 salvos, if you aim well (sacrifice goat to RNGesus). Watch though if you didn't kill it before it hid behind the mountains, you need to go left or have to enter the harbour the DD and the CL will come after you. If you do it that way you will STILL be escorting the troop ships. You can also BLOCK them so they do not enter the harbour before everybody gets there. (BTW once you enter the harbour hit the DEF AA, real funny in Hood). Kill the CV that is in harbour (at rear end) first. Yes, best go right through. And by doing that the bots do not know what to do anymore - and you can flank them. SOME should stick behind and act as meatshields for the transports. Take some FAST SHOOTING BBS and park them in the repair zones in front of transports. (I finally might have a job for KGV here... didn't have it yet last time on Narai). The start of the operation is real fun, we had a div with [AS13] and some friends, we divided the tasks - me (Hood) and Roger (Nelson) were to shoot the cruisers. The surprise is always if they come from left or right we went BOOM 1, BOOM 2... counting as we dev-striked them. Our CLs were to kill all DDs, a few Gneisenaus ahead for the US BB. One Fiji (vbest!) sent off to kill the convoy. Scharnhorst holding torps to get the Montana (big fat US BB). The operation is not TOO hard but it certainly is VERY entertaining. But it is really easy to mess it up or have RNGesus mess it up for you. HOWEVER, if you made 5 stars in randoms, you must have sacrificed a whole zoo to him.

    OP Tier V Cruisers?

Even DD AP can cit an Emerald....

    OP Tier V Cruisers?

........ (see next) Nah, the citadel on an Emerald is the joke here.

    OP Tier V Cruisers?

I guess I'll be using these.
  24. BLUB__BLUB

    Operation Narai

Fiji is great for that... yes a Yorck could do it. I have managed in Hood... but it's a bit far off to get back. Hood you can use better, after killing the big US BB go forward, the carrier King hasn't left yet... Full AA open, you should be able to kill the CV King with a few AP citadels. We managed to do it with full [AS13] division, and some friends. Aim well, shoot hard. Gonna have try gain today, I like it.

A welcome to submariners.... HMS HOOD torpedoes ??

I have Hood, would be LOL agains Gneisenau or something that gets close. Give them 2km range and 5 minute reload, and no aiming. Yes Hood had torpedo tubes, but they were never used. Most they would have been WW1 torpedos... slow and often not working as intended. The Hood we have is the WW2 version and by then the tubes were removed.
