  1. You'd be better off when taking the transport ships, we found that anyone doing that is usually Top Dog. The CV is kinda hard, depending what the Phoenix-from-hell and that Nicholas are doing.
  2. Ha yes I saw you were at low health, and I remember the Phoenix-from-hell. We had already killed the Nicholas before he left harbour... So I thought it a good idea to come and make sure we didn't lose you. The new clan is pretty active, you can meet me a lot in operations I think. We were testing what ships we could (or could not... LOL) use to perform certain tasks for Narai. My task this time was to take care of Missouri. I also Devstriked the Wyoming at the start. Hood is a real killer in Narai. Next time we'll see if I can kill the transports with it.

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

This is WHY the CV rework was doen in the first place. And also why it is a success. i agree on the AA though, balancing/some work still needs to be done @MrConway. But NO DOUBT the CV-rework has accomplished (sort of) what it was meant to do. Unfortunately it still has many many flaws in the balance-departement. Some even ludicrous. Or over-nerfed.
  4. Only managed one so far, indeed it was very funny. Forgot to put it on Youtube before the replays got wiped, unfortunately. I'm sure I'll manage again though

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

@El2aZeR thanks for the tips (I think it's the MM giving me a crap WR and average though, most games pure T8 and no hapless victims).
  6. THIS is a thing indeed. If the MM screws you over, there is not a lot you can do. I screwed over a T6 West-Virginia once, the poor bastard. Reason being he was the only likely victim. I had games though where there were NO likely victims, and the ones that were a candidate, kept company of AA-ships. This is why I always put a ramming flag on my CV.

    CV rework appreciation thread

Yeah they could have done better - but they wouldn't listen... I never noticed what was autodrop and what was manual drop as a victim... Yes AA is stupidly insane now, and doesn't really matter if you are good or not. Or does it? It requires certain tactic to suffer the least from it. But IMO not something that is very hard to learn. I'd say that handling just one squadron is a lot easier... as you just CANNOT 'teamwork with yourself' anymore. Which most of the playerbase could not do, and he uinicums could do very well. Including handling the spotting. That is true, but those are no 'heavier' requirements than are asked of BB/CL/CA/DD players. As such - a typical potato like me, will do just as 'well' (or not...) in a CV as he does in other ships.

Interesting post about how is WG balancing ships!

Well, to use those analytics and philosophy, Belfast players are mostly lucky dudes that gotit from a crate. So, as an effect of that, lucky dudes are just always lucky... so has better dmg... has better WR... are you following where this leads? <--- a proud Belfast owner....

    CV rework appreciation thread

I think that is because of large influx of new players. And yes CVs were what killed off BBs. Nobody ever produced a BB after CVs became more powerful. Balance... well... Like balancing the Hulk against smurfs, a bit. Sort of... well above the 30% anyway (hahahaha!). Funny thing though. Last time I checked was well above 50%, too. Ah hell maybe I'm getting worse. Mostly in Hermes at the moment, must play more US CV. But it is similar to my other stats. Which WOULD NOT have been the case in RTS, that's what I mean. I think the skill floor is a lot lower. But indeed it hasn't solved anything, they still do not listen to CV players regarding balance. Some of the 'balancing' they did is just utter crap.

    CV rework appreciation thread

WG wanted the playing standard to fall... I mean, even a potato like me can play a somewhat decent CV now. So, because they wanted to 'level' the skill-gap somewhat... it is a success... and I do find it enjoyable, too. Even if there's a lot of STUPID stuff, unbalanced crap and seriously flawed things, which they need to fix, but I also wonder if they ever will - but that is a different thing.
  11. They'd not have to 'boost' concealment - once down deep, the sub will be undetectable except by hydro. Concealment of a periscope would be lower than a complete DD... a surfaced sub being much smaller, too. And that running diesel engines gives a LOT less smoke... so, buffed concealment, I think not. Buffed speed... yes. Buffed damage... hmm... maybe not.

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

The weird thing, when a DD is after my CV, there is a point where my teammates are too far away to spot him - OK. So, I have seen he goes towards 'our side' so might be after me, and then I ned to find him using planes... I cannot use the rocket planes, they will lose sight... so I need to use torp/bombers. Anyone would be nuts to do it, planes get shot down pretty fast when flying over the enemy spawn if there's a blob in it... On the other had, when ships 'stay back'you have to do it, else you'll never find a target... that slow BB reversing from spawn is just the ideal candidate. Is that due to the low concealment of DDs? Mostly IMO it is because you lose sight of a DD when you use rocket planes. They become pretty useless due to that. You have to 'set target'when you do not even seethe DD, and then hope he pops up at the right moment. Because if you have to steer to get the cross on him, you have terrible dispersion and will not even hit a single rocket. Agreed. Though usually I miss, DDs are far too agile. It's a big gamble which sometimes pays off bigtime. But at least you can still see what you are aiming for.

I'm not so sure about that. I chased a T7 CA and shot it to bits, me remaining half health and healed up to 75%. It's much more nimble than a Furataka. IMO worth it, shame though it's not T6.

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

I agree. The thing that is needed is more concealment - for all ships. But NOT 'as standard'. Also, the other ships ned to protect the DD better. It's really easy if you think about it: give the DD smoke to conceal teammates. NOT smoke that gives 100% 'blackout' and prevents anyone in it from seeing anything, which is a mistake IMO in the first place. Give them smoke that reduces detection range by 50%.

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

You might not kill them (it only takes TWO or three hits with torps though). But it will certainly send them running. Plus you can keep them spotted, means your teammates will feast on them. I usually have a div-mate, so... since the spotting stays, and is not off/on (like on rocket planes) they will shoot them often. I found that BBs, if they have enough health, do not give a crap about torps (but T4/6 have only 1 and 2 torps to throw per attack, maybe better at T8). Usually if those are after me I use the HE bombers... same with cruisers. A moment before they kill me (I know they will... my damage output is not enough to stop them) then I launch the (full squad, since I never use them) rocket planes, to try get a fire on them, and to keep them spotted for teammates. You can do this ~3 minutes after they get your CV, so it is kind of revenge. When it is a BB or CL you do not lose the spotting like when you spot a DD with rocket planes.

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

T4+6, RN and US. IJN I dunno, but throwing torps in the transverse direction will at least make him turn the other way. Mine too, but you can drop them REAL short... also 'last minute steering' doesn't throw them off much. AT T4 and T6 I have no trouble hitting DDs. The biggest difficulty with BBs is the AA. El2azer has pointed out how to do it. You must start the dive/run when you see the first black pops. Then hit the speed - throws off the AA. Yes they do, if you d not get good at 'gambling'. You must try them more, at some point you get a 'feel' for them. Flying in straigh from ~5 km gives best results - but I can do it at < 3km, while coming from a full turn, and hit... Full brake boost (S-key) , full turn using both mouse and A-D keys... T6 RN can do it. Don;t know yet about T8. For DD hunting they are quick enough. Once you are over their head you can make their life hell. Usually I get salty comments in chat, especially when using the Hermes, oh man that thing is --> I usually do not get that result, because I like to use the CV for trolling the enemy. When I have my mind set on it I can do good damage. Currently I am sort of 'learning'. As in: can I deny the cap, can I make life hard for, such stuff. I know I CAN kill a BB, if I have time. And I know I can keep two DDs from capping, by harassing them (and finally killing them). That's not bad man, I wouldn't complain. In most ships I have good and bad games, depending on how much goats RNGesus received. Yesterday went Arizona with a clan-mate in Lyon. Fired HE at t a Colorado, 3 fires. Of course he put them out. I managed to hit him 3 times with HE after that (he kept going broadside). Now, I was extremely lucky to find such a 'talented player', but in those 3x more HE NOT ONE FIRE started... so I shot AP (5th time shooting at broadside ship). Meh result: 2000 damage. So, then I just thing 'screw this' and I go the other way. Teammate gets harassed by a DD, but he is 20km away... I fire HE at that DD and wham. This game is a LOT of RNG... if you expect to do well, and aim for it, it usually disapponts... Nevertheless, it IS certainly possible to deal with DDs. Seems though when you NEED TO do it, RNGesus usually craps on you... probably sounds familiar. I never use rockets though, except if I have killed off all other planes, and then mostly I use them to set fire on BBs and cruisers. DDs know rockets are hard to use, so they do not give a flying F anyway about them. But they do not like torpedoes... which is half the fun. I had one DD, he was trying to cap, and here comes RN Delirious with torp planes. Dropped on him and he eats one torp, half his health gone, he flees. SO I chase him, dropping a set again, he keeps going back to his own spawn... chased by the torps, he did not dare to steer... torps pass him, he steers... and then I take another dive, he goes away again, but I DO NOT DROP the torps... kept chasing him until our cruisers got him. Man that was some salt he poured in chat almost had to blacklist him but it was so funny hahahahahah

89 rockets (and a bomb) to destroy a single DD....

I use torps against DD. Why? 1. I can turn them on a dime, and keep the DD spotted even if I do not have fighters to drop; 2. torps send them the other way - evade or die, meanwhile I get my big CV arse outta there; 3. usually two or three torps will do the job; 4. ...when they smoke up... they stand still...
  18. Yeah they did. Still needs balancing - and the T4-6-8-10 idea is completely numb. I don't know if they can get the balancing right, I think it is possible but they... well.... But THAT is the part they mess up, not the rework itself. I think it is a success: the CV is no longer OP, and there's a lot more of them in games. Granted, if a CV focuses you - you have a problem. But this is NOT a CV problem. For example, if my T6 CV ends up in a T8 game, there is LITTLE that I can hit. So, of course I will focus the lowest tier, with the least AA. Possibly a DD. Whose mistake is that? If I am a t6 BB in a T8 game... wanna bet who gets deleted first? Try this: take a Leander to randoms, end up in T8... What needs doing is balance the AA vs damage output / plane health / plane supply from CV. They still seem to have lots of trouble with that.

Duh... well that CITADEL thing went easy... Decided to take Fiji... got SIX citadels on a Furry Taco... ...then took Leander... got TEN citadels, on the Buddyonny and the Emerald. OMG. So, now I have Exeter - finished the grind. Finally a premium RN cruiser, and not Belfast. Wouldn't be surprised if that is now the first thing that pops up in a container LMAO. Same thing always, had big trouble getting the '4 kills', in the games for citadels I got 4... 4...3....3....4... LOL!!!!!

I tried that a couple of times. Could make a slapstick movie about the FF-ups. Mate in Sims lays smoke for me, goes on 'softening up' a Fiji... enter an Icarus... I start killing the Icarus but instead the bot Icarus manages to kill my mate and me in one go Ended up taking Hood (what else), ny mate softening up a Gneisenau, instead he kills it 100% but eats torps. And then I kill 3 BBs nop problem and ram the 4th... LOL. 3 kills, done.

Why this CV rework is FAIL

Then, why did he live... CVs were soooo OP in real life, after they became quite good nobody ever built a BB... I personally quite like them, and I do not have 'a hard time' when playing a surface ship vs a CV. They can be a big nuisance... but so can DDs, CLs, and BBs. I'd say check WR of good BB players, and good DD players, and good CA/CL players... They usually manage multi-kill games, and a rather big influence in a potato-game. UNICUM players always manage to do that, no matter what ship. \ The problem is not with the Cvs. A poor CV sed to lose big time to a unicum CV, and after that the whole team would be wiped pretty quickly. NOW a poor CV will NOT fall to a unicum CV - as the CV does not face-off to the other CV. The CV goes face-off to other ships. So actually... it is NOT the CV that is the problem. It is the fact that the REST OF THE team cannot handle the unicum CV. PLUS the fact that the other team cannot take advantage of the weak CV. This is a surface ship problem - they just don't know what to do with the CV. Once they know what to do... but they will probably never learn... same as they never learn to focus radar cruisers, and all other stuff.

This actually might be a thing, as when you shoot 3 cits with Fiji means you need to find another cruiser to slaughter... I tried with Hood... no worky... 1 cit... need new victim hahahaha!

    Exeter - Last stage

It is definately MUCH better, but the disadvantages are there too. Less agility is one of them, which is why I like Leander better. Besides, in co-op with Leander I get to shoot 3x, score 3 citadels. Fiji, quite often the other CL is finished after 2x (2 citadels). I also like Leander better because it has more torps (2x4 vs 2x3, same torps). Means I can kill a BB with Leander (15.433 x4) and Fiji usually cannot.
  24. Looks perfectly balanced to me comrade...

Ah yes... but they KNOW... and the bots are just ignorant. Note that I do not say 'more stupid' or 'less stupid'. Problem is, the reload on Hood. In 5 minutes you get ~ 10 reloads and that is just about what you can shoot.
