No, i definitely DO mean the smoke clouds. The black blasts. Welll yes, or actually a lot bigger/more effective. The CV-plane-pilot-captain would have to zig/zag. Meanwhile, the surface ship could take action. Turn, or change speed. As is now, there is an AA bubble, no matter what direction you come from (no skill) and just get in/out as fast as possible, All there is working now is RNG of sorts. No skill level or challenge involved. Speed up planes, you'll get more 'multiplication of AA bubbles' and so on.
-
In operations (I do not play much randoms) all the bots are top-spec, have IFHE, and every thing you can put on. No surprise the cruiser and the DD were full AA then... I'd have gone for the Wyoming at the start... forget meagre scrawny DDs and cruisers... 590? I hope you mean 59k.... Yes sounds like you have a lot to learn, but how then did you get Bismarck? Also... you have 6000 battles? LOL.
-
Because they spend more time in it. Actually zig-zagging would delay them even more, giving ships the chance/time to avoid. That's the general idea.
-
Yes well... the flak is currently not working, which is why we have the gimped DoT bubble in the first place. If they made attack planes slower the flak would work better, planes would have to go around it, and ships would have time to react. Now they do not have any time, leading to the need for a bubble and less skilled and inactive play. This is the main problem IMO, if they fly low they should attack and be able to spot. If they are in transit, they should NOT be able to spot. Make it a cloud layer or whatever. Your method of working around is a gimped thing countering another gimped thing. Maybe rocket planes could launch at high speeds, but torpedoes certainly couldn't - would explode on impact with water. Also, current speeds leave no time to react to plane attacks at all. The speed is a large part of the problem.
-
That would be good, but they need to see the other ships around them as well. Ma7ybe it is better if they can only spot 'below certain height and speed'. Current attack speed is also kinda way too fast.
-
Yes except when they attack, they want to spot, or else they are blind while attacking. Main thing I think we agree on, there has to be a way to stop/punish planes spotting everything, when just on their way to target.
-
Makes sense. That was when they had upped the AA by a lot (february). But I also know what you mean now - you lost that many planes over TOTAL game. And yeah full-AA-US-DD one tier higher can be a pain to T4 CV, and so can a cruiser. Working as intended though - the problem there is you released 4 bombs and that's about it? 12 rockets (meh). Those things do nothing at T4. The Wyoming is what I'd go for as well, though. Still... this is what I did 9th february... (I do not have Hosho, but langley is also T4). Hosho is right near me though. And red Langley did even better. Maybe you were just unlucky to meet two players that had specced AA.
-
Ehh... that actually means a CV has planes flying around, then they just die to something he's not seeing, and after that the message appears"you have just been shot by Mino", oh wait... that message will not appear... Ah man that's just cruel.
-
I think this is related to some other stuff, like shooting a broadside cruiser (a few times!!) and getting ZERO hits. Since 8.2 I have also needed to turn down the graphics... due to FPS trouble... and I'm experiencing UI problems. Something is off a bit at times, I think it has to do with communications between PC-WG server.
-
It can be done much easier. make planes have two speeds: 1. attack speed - this means they fly low, but they can spot - also they are vulnerable to AA; 2. cruise speed - means they fly higher and faster, but they can''t spot - not vulnerable to AA. The 'attack speed' should be much less than the general speed now.
-
Well then, how did you get 20 plans to take off from Hosho, AFAIK it only has 3x3 planes after rework?
-
The REAL solution is to TEAM UP, not BLOBKRIEG. But it is a L2P issue that will probably not be easy to fix. I doubt if it is caused by the CVs though, even before there was a tendency to go lemmingtrain and such.
-
Udaloi/Grozovoi AA is insane, and the AA circle doesn't care if you send in 1 squad or 2 squads. It just does DoT in real short time, to any plane - not like the damage gets divided if there are more planes. My div-mate has one, he actually goes towards the planes ...
-
I'd take it if I had one point 'leftover', depending on the ship. On some ships you take EL. On some ships you take the extra fighter. Exactly. Save it for when needed, like not repairing ONE fire.
-
Fighters shoot down 75% of the attacking planes in the first wave. Very costly, it takes a lot of time for a CV to replace them. If a BB or CL puts up a fighter I usually look for a different target... So, yes. Worth using. I'd keep it until you need it though (like repairs... never repair ONE fire).
-
Some of that I didn't understand what it was related to. 20 planes in a Hosho must have been before the rework? It has 9 (3x3) at the most now. It sure doesn't have that may planes now in one flight. Hosho was T5 before? Can't imagine any T3/T4/T5 DD able to take that many planes... T7 Sims can, if you totally spec AA. AFAIK the planes from CV do not detect torps. They did for a short period, didn't last long - then came a 'hotfix'.
-
Could be, maybe you are more savvy than me. I just know from trying, BUT meta might shift though. Who knows they might give WV mega AA next update or hotfix. Currently, I'll attack a WV with a T4 or T6 CV though and harvest him to death. Can't do that to a QE or NM or Arizona. And I will not even dare get near PEF, rather take on a cruiser. Can't say about Mutsu, IMO it is pretty rare. Fuso is nothing special in AA. But some ship like FUSO will get into neighbourhood of an AA cruiser pretty quickly. Yes WV is like a Musashi... I go oh yummie, first thing when I see it on the red team. It's big AND SLOW and usually alone as it cannot keep up with groups. Best piñata for CV, so I'd not advise to buy it if you like playing randoms. In operations and Co-op, no problem.
-
Exactly. And we'll have subs too... granted they may be gimped, but we'll get them. Agreed on all, except the favouritism. Maybe it is L2P by the rest. A CV is a capital ship, and should be murdered --> if it is a threat to the win. As in, if you have all 3 caps, then would you go after a Bismarck that is humping the border? Or would you go after a DD that is trying to steal your cap? People are still adapting. That remains the question, also, is it a (monetary?) fail for WG, or is it a fail for (some) players? They wanted it gone. Because the GOOD players could ANNIHILATE the less good ones. Same thing. A GOOD player could just wipe the less good one. That is indeed stupid. I think the game engine doesn't cope with it or something. I see no valid reason why it needs to be that way. Realistic is not really an option... but the planes are far from unlimited. If the CV player stuffs up, he'll be having 2-planed-squadrons... and be a floating piñata. Yes needs balance comrade (some have flying tanks that can't die and never run out, or too fast respawn). Stupid is as stupid does... same as people anchoring behind an island because 'meh I have AA cruiser'. Planes return faster now... and after a few HE hits the AA guns are not that spicy anymore. But they do not adapt and just go REEEEEEEEE actually that is well put. The whole lot, I think. people were right saying the RTS was fixable and could be made good. Might have been less work. Well, looking at the 'waiting list' I'd say they got what they wanted: MORE carrier players. But then again, I know of a few that STARTED playing CV... Lots of them for other reasons, too. Like powercreep, nerfs, and other stuff. WG looks at the wallet. Loyal fans will not pay the bills, new players that buy stuff (which the loyals already have) are paying the bills. DDiapers have become the new BBabies. Yeah you are right on that one. Not that much IMO. More kill stealing by CV is the biggest thing. But there's less chance of 'getting wiped' than before. Aside from the AA-shift, less chance of getting wiped. It is FAR from balanced. Maybe reworking the RTS would have reached balance sooner. But then again... in a surface ship, I feel a lot better tha before. If I saw a CV then... well, might as well press ESC. I gamble about 25 (but I think I'm off by about 100) You might as well ignore the rockets... the spotting+other fire does greater damage to the DD or whatever than the T4 CV itself. It's a game. I think they made it bit better, but still have a long way to go. I can understand you think the RTS was better, maybe it was. For me it was unattractive and I thought it rather meh. Also my PC wouldn't run it that well. Now it does, looks/feels better to me too. But i agree some 'problems' have just gotten worse and some stuff is indeed ridiculous.

How about getting any troll=accusations off? One more such post I'm throwing you in the ignore. Disagreeing is all fine, this is not. Last warning. I'm not discussing with people that try to get insulting to show they are right. Your middle finger is not a valid argument. Capisce? They are dumb. We have no trouble killing the CV. DD should just detect them, BB blast them off the map. 3+ chasing a single CV, well... no need PLUS it is a waste of ship power. Also means they got themselves detected. And killing 3 ships with a CV? Man either that CV-guy is good, or (most likely, since they chase a CV with 3 ships AND got themselves detected) they are not. Maybe you should consider Conq has plenty AA... almost best in class BB at T10. Spec it a bit and it's awesome. CV will think twice before attacking a Conq. Usually there's better food for him, if there's NOT then of course he'll get you. Torps only get visible from short distance and many DDs can torp from stealth. No planes or hydro on Conq. Not like you se Gearing torps coming 10km away. Also they do A LOT more damage than airplane torps... WASD hax yes, but that's not how I play Conqueror... 12 km detection IMO means you play at 12 km. Also, I can face a CV - I'll kill him. From disctance or up close. When I get my gus on him, he's dead. DD not so. Froma distance, they are very agile and often carry smoke. Up close, he might as well kill ME. Yes you need somebody to spot. Blindfire wil only send shells into the island. You can watch the planes go... they FLY BACK in a straight line. Also there's not THAT many places he can hide. Apparently you think blindfire on a CL is possible, and on a CV it is not... ??? CV is a much larger target, sometimes NOT hugging an island. Then how is a carrier so much OP, with most carrier player being unable to hit an afk BB? T6 carriers do not score higher than a cruiser. I bet you'd want to see them always on the bottom. Most bad ones are. A good carrier dies last or not at all. Simply put: with a 6 point captain vs another 6 point captain, there's nothing OP about a carrier. Might be in higher tiers. In general, I think the higer tier CVs are too powerful, and the lower tiers are a bit MEH. Yes balancing is still needed, and maybe WG never will do it. But your whining is a bit much. Largest part is people not adapting. Seems you use some mods and do not play the vanilla game. Quite unclear to me, this scheme. I've seen enough T10 matches to realise that T10 doesn't mean you cannot do well in a T8. I get lots of T10s in the Edinburgh. Sometimes I end up in top 3, no problem. Especially in current meta, carriers are having a field day picking off campers. Camp behind island? Oh goody. A parked piñata. I'm sure that is how you got that score. Montana isn't that good with AA. Minotaur is, DM too. But half-dead they are usually softened up. Parked behind their favourite rock they're not hard to hit - and the DEF AA doesn't last forever. I'd take a shot at them after the T10 CV has had a pass. Sam as shooting a BB on fire after he has extinguished the last. Stuff like that is not gonna help you proving things. It's just gonna get you ignored. I do expect those T8 carrier guys to be actually good. And those T10 ships to be actually what most are: campers. They sit behind an island, waiting for the other guy to make the first move so they can all pounce on him. Guess what: meta has changed. A good CV will blow the campers from their hiding holes. It shows. You do not know much about carrier play and probably do not realise they get 'denied' a lot too. Probably you haven't played CV after the first two weeks. And you still think they work like that. AA has been buffed on some ships beyond absurd... true on some ships it is way less than before. Catapult fighters are really OP at the moment, they'll just kill the whole incoming wave. Actually this is where you notice that you never play CV. You should. I suck at DDs, but I play them. Just so I know what they can do and cannot do. THAT one is true, if you stuff up too much though, you end up a floating piñata. Somewhat similar to a BB getting the guns shot off. But hey... those guns grow back... slowly... endlessly... Actually I'd agree to put a MAX on the re-emergence of planes (hangar size). But it's NOT like 'you lose some planes'. The CV loses strike power. It takes a few minutes - meanwhile he's a floating piñata. And yes, MAYBE the T8-T10 CVs are too powerful here. Oh man. Notser in his Midway. A great (at least competent) player that has found two N00bs, and he is surely not putting the game on internet when THEY got HIM. You know WHY those two DDs are N00bs? Here's why: - They got themselves detected; - TWO DDs... the Cv can just outrun them... they'll never get him...; - Should have gotten a BB or CL mate to pump Notser full of AP/HE; - apparently the Cl and the BB couldn;t shoot straight; - a few good shots from a BB at a CV and the CV is dead. Now, knowing this, do you actually realise WHAT are you watching there?

They had a lot more planes in the air at the same time, then. True. It's still not balanced. A Cleveland (or any AA cruiser) should be able to wipe the sky. As it is, they are not, so it is still not 'as should be'. But 40 planes is gonna be hard, as most CVs will not be able to send 40 planes anyway. If they want you dead, you will be dead, which is IMO as should be. Meanwhile he can't do much else. DD players are the new whiners. Though some have reason, for example the IJN torp boats. Yes more balance is needed. I didn;lt notice CVs could detect torps, BTW. I certainly agree to that.
-
PEF is very good with AA, but as a BB it had many shortcomings... for operations it is great though. QE still has more than decent AA. NM is even better. Especially as you'd spec a bit into secondaries, which specs AA as well.
-
Arizona, sort of - it is not worse than other T6 BBs. T7 take Hood, T5 take Texas (which he already has). Bestsilver AA_BB is New Mexico, but wel... Seriously NONE are invulnerable. But the West Virginia is just about the worst. It has REALLY low AA, and it is slow, and biggest target of all, with the most XP to harvest.
-
That also makes sense... T8 usually doesn't make credits. I sort of 'break even' on the other T8 ships as well. T10 usually COSTS credits, I usually lose some money on the Conqueror, manage to break even when I have premium running. You are supposed to BUY PREMIUM or other stuff (like premium ships), or play the lower tiers to make credits. This is how F2P works. Working as intended, after all WG has to feed the server hamsters. I have no problem with that, hell I might even buy the premium CV myself if they make it interesting. More likely though I'll get the premium T6 (I like playing operations...) or T7 if they ever make it. Though I do hope it's Ark Royal with loads of Swordfishes.
-
My guess is it is a success for WG. Many more carriers being played. Hell even I can do it. Granted YOU are the one going LMAO because it still is quite unbalanced. Or is it? But, look at it his way: balance is the state where nothing changes, and all forces are equal. In that view, being face-down and arse-up in the mud means: "balanced..."

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
BLUB__BLUB replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I'm amazed that didn't end in a total ZERO POINTS for the poor reds...
