    Hood's AA capabilities post-rework

The 'DISAGREE' is Hoods AA capabilities being meh. I think they are still more than OK. BTW all DDs suffer from rocketstrikes. Not just Sims - it can do something back though. Hood doesn't really suffer from torpedoes that much, even. Plenty HP and a good heal. Most of them even cause no flooding. I'd say torps hurt less to Hood than rockets to a DD. Correct, but show me a Gneisenau that kills 45 planes in a mixed T6/T8 game then. I think they will not. In my experience T6 planes are very wary to attack Hood, and rightly so. Have had it happen two T6 CVs attacked me... no hits, and only a few planes survived. They left me alone for the rest of the match... Now there;'s a point - but I think the other T8 ships are far more dangerous than the CV. Every damn T8 cruisers can outrun and outshoot Hood, and not much you can do. Except for hoping for them to be so stupid to go broadside < 15km. No you don't. Even I can do it. But Hood will still do plenty damage to T8 planes. Granted though if they want you dead, you are dead. If you are the only T7... well, basically, you are toast. But ships will get you before planes do, usually they are a lot more dangerous - except those AP bombers. However even then you can escape somewhat from them, far better than from a T8 cruiser. I can get drops on T8 as well with my T6 CV. Will not lose lots of planes if done well. Using the @El2aZeR trickbox I even managed to hit the T8 CV... but that's not the point. T8 will always club T6, unless you gitgud and the red ones don't. So? Thing is, who is the most attractive target. And usually it's not Hood... I can't remember in the past being able to clubber T8 CVs with Hood either. T7 CV yes, but such a thing doesn't exist anymore. Neither does T5. Which is bad, BTW. T6 CV just gets creamed, no problem. And yes a good player can still get you - not withouth (heavy) cost though. I play CV... sort of average. I play Hood... sort of average. I know what can be done and what cannot. IMO it's more of an MM problem than a 'Hood AA' problem. Not the AA that needs fixing here.

    Hood's AA capabilities post-rework

Weel, as I have Hood and my usual div-mate has Sims - I must disagree. Yes a good CV player can get you... if he really REALLY wants to. But it will cost him... in Hood, but also in Sims. We both regularly shoot down ~30-40 planes. The trick is WHEN to press DefAA... if you do it at the right moment, he'll sure NOT pick you next time. The difference: say a good CV player, he knows he might have trouble - so he ditches all first flights and comes with only the last. Now, when I wait for it to dive... he cannot abort and then he'll lose them all. And a good CV player, he knows this. He will wait for as long as it takes for DefAA to shut down and return. And I know. It is what I do. It works. I lose 3 planes,. but after that I send a full squad and not lose many and get big damage. The average player, he comes with full squadron, and loses about ALL the planes... Now he will not come back... at least not with torps if he had those... or bombs... because all those planes need to re-grow. If he is stupid then he comes back mad right away when the DefAA still is active... LOL. You can also trick a good player. If you see him coming with just ONE attack flight, you KNOW it is a savvy one. Just take the damage... he'll come back with a full squad... THEN press DefAA at the right time... Now THIS ONE might come back with the other squad (if you killed all his torps... he'll bring bombers). DefAA on Hood still kills just about anything, if you press at the time the planes are starting the attack. And if they aren't killed... then he'll have lousy aim. Same on Sims, except that gets more rocket planes. Hood doesn't give a damn about the meagre damage from rocket planes. Mind though... against DOUBLE T8 CV they're not gonna make it. But even T8 CV might decide there is better prey around. They'll take them first... But if you're the only T7 in a T9 match you're dead anyway (especially a potato like me)... BTW none of this will save you from @El2aZeR... but I think he doesn't play below T8 Hood + Sims, working as intended... 14th april 2009 (go ahead, check stats... LOL).

    Seconded. Good advice.

Correct. Only chance: creep up to them like a real fat cruiser. Nope, sneak up close and surprise them broadside. Then try GTFO or die heroically. Hood can (and will) citadel Musashi (Yamato). The thing is, T9/10 ships usually CAMP. The guns turn l slowly, and they are not the fastest to get going. So if you manage to sneak up ~t 7 km, their guns are turned thewrong way... yes you can do enormous damage. But if they are on speed, you cannot outrun them - and they do not even have to aim for weak parts... overmatch anywhere. We did get them thoufgh with Hood and Sims. The DD spotted them, herding them with torps. And I shot them from distance, disappearing into stealth after firing. They never hit me at all, and I slowly shot them to bits. Usually it ends quick and painless though...

Musashi is same. We do 'fail divisions' sometimes, too. Usually because I'm not paying attention at what the others are doing. Try Queen Elizabeth in a T9 battle... Hood vs Musashi is OK though. I got two in one game, they were in a division. I was in division with Hood, my mate in Sims. We totally nailed them.

... I think this is a Hood thing as well. Sometimes eat Yamato salvo, get 1025 damage. Spmetimes get New York salvo, get 2 citadels or worse.

Definately DON'T BUY AIGLE for money, it's waaaayyyyy not good enough. Can be had for coal and that's probably just about worth it if you have the rest. French cruisers good, French BBs fine, this DD not so much.

    Coal Ships In The Armory

Meh, all cruisers in Clan Battle play the same: hide behind island, when discovered, angle as much as you can and dakka until death. Apart from that you'll sometimes get some minor variations but that's it. Sometimes you can run around a bit and go dakka but that's rare. First T10 cruiser I'll get to is Minotaur but that's a bit away, so I'll take Salem. Sneak, peak and Dakka. Lotsa dakka. No Des Moines but Worcester for me so a sim-Moines might be handy too. None of the other ships have anything I really want, and I can do without the T8+MM and gameplay. So, a T10 its gonna be and wil be used almost exclusively for CB, gives my clan some more choices. For rea fun I;d like a T7 but that means steel, and then it will be Flint, most likely.

    Coal Ships In The Armory

I'm saving coal as well and will either get Salem or whatever T10 is on sale for Clan Battles. We'll see what gives.

Why this CV rework is FAIL

Not that you are a bad p[layer, I mean you play mostly co-op. The co-op is why. You can never play these carriers to good effect in co-op. It will cost credits. Because even a UNICUM player will lose credits playing CV in co-op. Yes, other ships work quite well. I had 9 citadels in Leander in co-op... loads of credits. Hahaa yes you CAN play them. Guessed that. 6000 battles is a lot. I play 99% randoms. You cannot deplane CVs anymore... you can only 'disable'them for a while, when they have to wait for planes to 'grow' again.

Arizona is New Mexico, a little bit less AA but more accurate guns. You can really shoot with it... but, as all US BBs upto T8, slow as F. I liked New York so I also like Texas, and so I liked New Mex so I also like Arizona... so... if you like NY... Great for grinding credits/XP/Captain points - and it can do Operations (which Texas cannot do). Needs a bit of help in secondaries/AA but put AFT on the captain and presto. Warspite I do not have but will get that someday, I like Queen Elizabeth and Warspite is similar, but most say better. Queen Elizabeth has very slow rotating turrets, and Warspite is better there, plus has better secondaries. QE has better AA. I'll get Warspite when it is on 50% sale... usually is when there is a sale, since Warspite is ~the oldest premium. If you have a spare 10E and like DDs then get Okhotnik. It is worth it for the torps alone (it shoots LOADS)... very OP when top tier. Too bad though it can't be used in operations as it is T5. Most Russian DDDs are gunboats... this is too... but it has A LOT of torps. TWELVE of them, reload 47 secs, 4.5km range though. But with 12 torps... sneak up to a BB.. sure kill. Or the other way: shoot 4... wait 30 secs... shoot 4... wait 30 secs. Could be funny in the current 'BLOBkrieg/Lemmingtrains". This is why you want the 'fat captain'... surface detection 6,48 km, fat captain = Concealment Expert = 10% off --> 5,8 km... If you are any good with DDs that should print credits. It does with my div-mate who is a DD fan. You should see the red team go REEEEEEEE in chat when he uses it... T61 is said to be OP, but my divmate (the DD-main) prefered Sims since he grinds US DD. So I don't know.

Yeah i did too, because I spent the coal on captains... Hood is a good ship, I do not make great credits with it, but it is my fault, as I usually go: CHAAARGEE!!! But I still DO make (plenty) credits on Hood, and captain XP, and I think it is a fun ship. Can give Gneisenau a beating if needed. But can also be a total epic burning piñata for the red team. You'll like Hood if you like fast BBs, but mind you must aim very accurately with Hood, has only 8 guns. Occasionally Hood also has derp dispersion, usually accurate as hell, but maybe a bit short range. Hood is odd in that it is about the fastest BB at T7. Also the largest... easy to hit, but gets a big big XP pool. I like Hood in operation Narai. You can blap cruisers using just the front guns, or just rear guns. There's a few things it can't do - stop quickly or get going quickly.... keep it moving. It steers quick enough though, if you are chased you can keep the rear wiggling while firing. My favourite ship... if I can use it (Naval Battle, operations, randoms... whatever) I'll use it.

Yes, but really makes a difference if you HAVE that extra concealment or not. Or HAVE that IFHE skill... I'd get one, and 'feed him XP' until he is 19pt. Yes, but more of them are like "hilarious". DD T2 Smith, with a captain with torpedo-reload-boost... DD T2 Tachibanana, with a captain with IFHE... ...and then some that may be interesting if you play high tier.
  16. BLUB__BLUB

    premium ship

Maybe you should "invest in the training of some captains". Some ships really get MUCH better with a proper 19 pointer on them. You can buy captains in the Armory - for gold and for coal. Some of them have 'special skills', like turret rotation - handy for Warspite/QE for example. I have a 19 pointer on Hood/Conqueror/Exeter. Since I use those ships a lot, he makes CPT XP for others. And it sure makes a difference in playing some ships if you have a fat captain on it.
  17. BLUB__BLUB

    Possible cv spotting idea

More REEEEE, well, maybe you missed the part where I said 'attacking should be much slower', so AA can do its work. That would mean they could indeed fly into an AA blob, as they'd just see 'a cruiser' and take the guess if it's a Kronny or a Mino. But they'd find out when they broke through the clouds... and suffer the consequences. But I guess your reading deficiency leads to me seriously needing to overthink stuff, I'll try not hold it against you.
  18. BLUB__BLUB

Is a bit of Mikasa love possible?

...or not at all. Aiming better and really careful leads only to frustration. Aiming sort of meh might give great results. I have NEVER been hit by Mikasa guns.... torped a load of them though. Poor things.

    Aircraft Carrier Bug Collection

    You forgot mountain-huggers and bordercampers.
  20. BLUB__BLUB

    Possible cv spotting idea

Yes I do. Right now that is also how it works: they spot the ships, and can pick a target. But the whole team gets to enjoy the spotting as well. Plus since the spotting is 'above the clouds', maybe they can spot what class, but will find out WHAT ship it is when they dive below... There's many more things that could be done to stop the spotting. And invincible? Not like they get shot down 'on the move' now, eh? Because they easily see what's coming. So "yes pls give me that" well you already HAVE IT, duh. Do you even think before you go REEEEEE? Maybe I should go ff y'all DDiapers and BBabies? I think @El2aZeR is right never satisfied so indeed maximum attack working as intended.
  21. BLUB__BLUB

Why this CV rework is FAIL

Well, then maybe the new CVs are "not for you". Here's why: Because if I don;t get at least 30k in a T6, I'm having a baaaaaaaad game. But I think the largest problem is CVs do not work in co-op... at all. The ships get farmed pretty quickly by cruisers doing citadels and DDs doing the torpedo--from-smoke-close trick. They are good ships, but I wouldn't know what they do in co-op. I only did co-op in a few cruisers when I had to grind some WG-stuff. The thing is, they all go in YOLO and you have to be quick to feed. No way you're gonna get any using a CV. I see the problem, you mostly play co-op. Nothing wrong with that though. But if I take a CV to co-op, well, meagre harvest. Seems like all bots are perfect AA shooters, and also they 'predict torps' very much, seen the same thing with cruisers ad Dd torps. They avoid them unless fired very close. So since the new CVs do mostly 'damage over time', you get nothing from it. The old CV had much more alpha-damage.
  22. BLUB__BLUB

    Possible cv spotting idea

Therefore I think it is better if there would be a 'travel mode'. Faster speed, but 'flying above the clouds' so not spotting (at LEAST not for others).
  23. BLUB__BLUB

    Possible cv spotting idea

I suppose he means Damage Per Match... and then he is correct. if a class means little to no damage, nobody will play it.
  24. BLUB__BLUB

    Possible cv spotting idea

Thanks for that. I must admit you are correct. More speed is realistic, didn't expect that. Still, one must wonder, what use torpedoes would be at the bottom of a lake?
  25. BLUB__BLUB

    Possible cv spotting idea

I know... I play CVs too. Just that flak should be ~the only thing. You;d take damage, but if you move around a lot, you take less damage. ...which is totally RNG, depending on speed (press button). It's no fun/skill at all.
