    ASDIC was pretty common on ships. And it makes a nice immersive ping-ping-ping sound. I think that's a lot of BS too, they were countered pretty quickly IRL as well.

    Not the depth charges, though they COULD BE launched... but most were indeed rolled off the rear end. I mean add "hedgehogs". Those you can aim. Can even be thrown forward. They only go BOOOMMM when they hit something though.

    I would think it far better if the depth-charges drop was not "automated" but could be triggered. Some DDs could also have different drop patterns. And they could add HEDGEHOGS... using this (mouse)aiming method, which is really simple.

    I have it too, I call it the Inflatable. But I thought you wanted to try an AA ship with a CV. Logically if YOU bring the CV, well you get a red CV, but you know that I guess.

    The trick already was to prey on ships that are alone... the find out which sector they had... go in the other way. But you lost the planes anyway "on the way out". The next trick will be to "bait" them into using the AA, an wait for the cooldown. Finally I see some challenge. Much better IMO. I think "point and click"is indeed much better. Gives more satisfaction. POINT at the pesky planes, CLICK and see them die. The numbers can be balanced (yeah I remember it is WG here... we'll see how that turns out).
  8. I think they have something here. Not bad really. I expected some weird crap, but there's not a lot of it. The defence leaves a lot to be desired. Agreed. We'll see how they balance this (but... we have the CV Reeeework too... ahem..). And apparently they did not learn anything concerning T6/8/10. Balancing that much difference.. Agreed. This is balance-able. But... well... Reeework CV. Idea: if it uses speedboost... leaves bubble trail (cavitating). Yeah that speed needs to be nerfed. A speed boost at the higher tiers would be OK IMO. The PING is a good thing. Clever. Yeah this is what will happen. Maybe they should give ping for all sub torps...

    What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

    Arizona.... got it for free from a container, still good. Were running it to show my new clanmate a few BB tricks. He has only 700 games in randoms so far, I have almost 4000.... so... but he's quite OK already. After Hood my most played ship and here you see why. Even Russian Bias div... won't help. BLAPPED the Russian BB from 3.5km (I guess he thought I was gonna ram him) Almost got his div mate too. But didn't, so we lost. Arrghhh. Well even after 4k games I'm not THAT good.

  14. Ah, that I agree on. But I think you'll agree with me that it will take less than a month, before only the stupid remains. I mean, if they reduce the game to the level of kiddie-boom-boom game, well then do not expect to get more than 1€ for a premium ship. And that means that end of the month the salaries don't get paid...
  15. Au contraire. I thing WG cannot be serious. If they are, this game will end quite fast I believe. But we'll see, how they do it and then how it turns out. I do believe in the power of stupidity too, so...
  16. I doubt if they put that on the live server. Maybe testing it. Even WG won;t believe the game will last longer than a month if they do that.
  17. Definately can. Look at the beercans on the rear of most cruisers. Some of them even have hydro... I'd imagine BBs get something as well. Hydro, asdic, a bunch of depth charges to throw overboard. Also a periscope-depth sub will not really stand a chance against a BB shell. think no homing torpedoes coming. They'd already have been here. Boarfff it already is in some points.
  18. I think the way they did it in the Halloween game is good enough. Kriegsmarine subs needed no AA because first they just called the Luftwaffe when they were under their "umbrella", and when they were not they just stayed under... and only popped up where the allied "umbrella" was nil (the black hole). After the allies filled in the black hole using ASW planes, well they were done for. As for the radio they developed the "radio beacon", while they stayed under water themselves.
  19. This in itself is not a problem, even if half the team is such cannonfodder. The problem occurs when 90% of one team is cannonfodder and the other team only has 10%. WG only has to take stats and apply them once they have enough people to form a team.
  20. No need. If you launch a spotter/fighter plane you spot the sub, same as you now spot DDs. A fighter plane would strafe the enemy sub or shoot down the subs spotter. A spotter plane would spot the sub and throw a depth charge on it.
  21. I suppose that launching a spotterplane would mean it would spot a sub. Also spotting a sub would mean autodrop something on it (same as fighter consumable attacks CV planes). Fighter plane would strafe the sub. LOL when the sub also has AA, he can choose to dive or surface and use the AA... Or even launch his own spotter plane (would get shot down but the sub would escape damage).
  22. But they do. If they sit at periscope level (have limited spotting range themselves), they can be unspotted and still fire torpedoes at enemies that are spotted by teammates.
  23. Most cruisers have some kind of depth charge mechanism already modelled on the rear. Lots of RN and US cruisers had them too. BBs as well, fact is that Bismarck had them. Eugen had them. Check "wasserbombe" in German. Note that most BBs had planes that did drop stuff on subs as well.
  24. That DD, when spotted by a teammate, will still be quite visible. Same as sitting in smoke but a mate spots what is outside the smoke. On the other hand... once te DD is above... what is that sub gonna do beside crapping pants. But OK leave it to WG to add "skyward launchers for Russian Subs"... Nah really. In the Halloween event you could launch torps from surface or from periscope depth only. Spotting was limited when at periscope depth, and only full when surfaced. I think they'll pull this one off better than the CV Reeework.
  25. There's also the time that they need to STAY on the surface. Unless WG decides that air re-supply / battery loading can take place in 0.2 sec. But this wasn't the case in the Halloween event either. IMO subs are "balance-able". The question remains if/how WG will manage. It WILL GIVE THEM OCCASION to further enhance CV balance. For example, if they give CVs depth charges, that will not work on normal ships... so ships get relieved a bit. IMO they ff-ed that up with CV, all weapons that a CV has work "reasonably well" on all targets, shouldn't be the case. Having stuff that works BY FAR the best on one class makes it much better balance-able.
