Now, for reference, I did a match in Furious and giot a T8 match. Ayayayayay? Well no. Got 65K, and it was much easier to get rif of the Pensacola. I just bombed him, and could have done it again but my teammates killed him already. Also, I just killed the Frenchie cruiser with torps... easily. MUCH easier to get hits. BUT... if you hit with Ark Royal, it delivers better. More "WHACK". So IMO it is harder to score good with it, but easier to score "OK-ish".
-
Next one (3rd game), slightly better but a loss. 54K damage, and could not delete a DD (he was good though, ended 2nd of his team). Which came to bite me in the @$$ later. Oh and yes you can smack a Pensacola (he ended 1st so probably not bad player) but it will cost most of the squad. Haven't tried any slingshot shenanigans, but I think if you do and a bit of luck, 100k is very much possible.

Yessszzzzz could be any of the above. But they don't hit harder, there's just more of them. I did notice that this results in a rather much higher fire chance. As do the rockets. DISADVANTAGE: very often you get two fires, and of course DCP follows. But you'll not be back that quickly... Where on the other T6 CVs you usually get ONE fire, and that is left to burn... not on this one. Well here's what I got in a T6 battle, which was a good ole <10min ROFLSTOMP and we won. First I hit a BB for 4K, then smacked a DD (well.. he was in smoke... but he was shooting so 1 rocket hit him). I then went after 2 DDs who were capping the middle, shot one with torps (LOL) and one with rockets. None of them got killed by me (chased the first one out of cap... hahahah... with torps). Then finished off a French cruiser, attacked the QE( 2 fires, DCP) and after that some more BB whacking. Result: 20k dmg and a win (hahahahaha well it's not OP, and it WAS a ROFLSTOMP) but I'll show you.

They do, seems they drop faster than the Furious bombs. Depending on how long you took and which planes you took after. I have had fully killed squadrons, then took the other two, by the time I had finished with them, the other squad had regenerated. Yeah does. Basically you never run out. OK you can, but then you are a total N00b. And IF you are a N00b, you are gonna do VERY bad in this CV. I'll need more time, but to me it seems it does. It plays very different to the normal T6. Very slow, but heavy hitting. Much like a very very double-fat T4. Exactly. I have it. @Yedwy does too. So yeah we have seen it. Looks like it. They don't dive, they are LEVEL carpet bombers... means your "drop distance" is always sort of the same. If the DD goes like that yes certainly, I'd say I kill him in 2 runs from same squad, but that's with ANY T6 CV really. I had one that was really nifty, he didn't have AA on (and he forgot about it being too busy I guess), I spent my whole squad doing bomb runs on him, and in the end he had only 20% gone. So the bombers ARE avoidable... bad news too - the rocket planes hit damn hard. I hit a BB for 6k and that DD that escaped, one run and that took > half his HP.
-
But they get "repaired", well sort of. It could take a loooong while though.
-
The influence of EVERY ship grows the longer the game lasts... which i why you have so many island-huggers and bordersurfers. Give me a Conqueror, and 11 poor b@stards on 10% HP... I'll kill them even faster than a CV. However BY DESIGN the CV is a borderhugger, AKA does not take damage until late game. Also doesn't lose any turrets or whatever.
-
Same here, but the CV-players also cried REEEEEE about this dumbing down - same as we get only map-steering while planes are flying. AND we cannot launch fighters (automated), stop flooding (automated)... Somehow though they DO expect CV-player to set AA-sector (LOL).
-
Correct. Yes indeed, but less than RTS because he can only control 1 squad at a time. Correct, but relatively so.
-
It is a bit more complicated than that. In RTS if you had a good CV he'd get 200k. Unless you had a significant difference in CVred/green, then the better CV would get 300k and the other would get 10. Because the better CV would shut down or kill the worse CV, and then have free killing for the rest of the game. NOW you still have a difference because bad CV will have meagre damage as he gets obliterated by FLAK and doesn;t understand which ships to attack / not attack. The better CV player will be even better, as he doesn't have to deal at all with the red CV and can concentrate on whacking the surface ships.
-
I'll kill the enemy CV if given half the chance... OK usually you don't because of aforementioned reasons. But IF after an attack on some BB I have a strike left and I see the CV... well... ...and when you have a T8/T6 double CV, and I am inthe T8 --> Hell yeah. The T6 CV has less AA than most AA -cruisers. There are a few reasons to hit DDs. One is, if the DD attacks the CV. I'll make sure he is dead. And why not just spot, and let the cruisers do the job --> because the CV needs to fulfill the "service cost" too. As such, you DO need to make dmg and get XP. And 50% dmg of a DD is same XP as 50% dmg on a BB. Yes but that's upto WG. If they make dealing damage to a DD less XP-worthy, that would help. Also if they give CV insane secundaries, it will have the effect of DDs no longer wanting to hunt it, and I'd not have to hunt DDs. Also, they could easily make bombs overpen on DDs. I think it will be quite suitable! RAWWWRRRRR!!
-
Looking good... and indeed 19mm pen on the bombs.
-
Yes but doesn't really matter. They are HE-bombs, they will pen superstructure on just about anything. A pen is still a pen... occasionally you might pen a DD deck, however pen damage is usually less dmg than when causing a (perma)fire. Main cause of HE-bomb damage is fire... can't pen BB decks anyway not even with T8 HE-bombs. And a fire is still a fire... note though that higher tier ships a have LESS RISK of catching a fire than lower tiers. Also, uptiering is a bit "meh". Say you'd be able to kill EVERY ship, but the fact is, you cannot do it anyway. I mean the damage output is such that you can effectively kill two cruisers or 1.5 BB completely (150.000dg max). So if you get uptiered you find the other poor sods and try feast on their bones... If ALL OF THEM are T8 and you are the only T6, well, then you are screwed, but you can still do damage. You will just have to wait a bit until the T8 ships are pre-roasted and lose a few AA guns. Ah well it just means we are live guinea-pigs, what else is new...
-
Actually I had some that were good sports, and some that were sooo damn good I even complimented them. Let's not forget lots of CV players go REEEEE REEEEE as well... and yes I played on through all the updates. Even the ones where whole squads melted because of AA from a Mutsuki...
-
Generally that is 99% true, however you do get games when you are uptiered (T6 CV in T8 game), also you can have the misfortune that most red ships are AA-heavies, and then the most viable target is the OTHER T6CV... Yeah sort of. I can do great performance, or really bad - usually I just potato around and enjoy myself helping teammates in DIV. Means my dmg number is kinda crud (bo,bing a BB gives more than spotting for buddies), and since teammates are usually no Great Stars, WR is too. In retrospect I'd have chosen the name "Mr Potato" or something. However I can judge quite well if something is OP or not (am I doing stellar performance in it, then it's probably OP). I'll know about that this evening. But the RN Cvs have usually "round/elliptical" pattern. A straight drop on a DD, usually he then sits in the (larger) circle. You'll not hit a DD if you use "the correct aim and come in straight". Maybe the first bomb hits, or the last, or maybe RNGesus just likes you. The thing is, you can STEER that pattern, if (at the last moment) you pull the planes to the right, while "braking", the bombs tend to fall to the left-front of the aiming reticule. THAT is how to get DDs DELETED with the carpet bombs. It used to be easier though, carpet-bombs now have "longer time drop", or so it seems to me. Neither do I. But sometimes DD drivers do whine a lot. And then they dont do their job, and just come hunt CV in pairs. I usually leave them alone, somewhat. But if they come for me... and after that they go reeeee reee reeeeeeeee when I do kill them... I don't think ARk Royal is gonna be Noobtube with bombs - on the US CVs you can get all (non-carpet!)bombs sort of on one point, which is why they can hit DDs much much heavier. If I get a N00b DD vs my US CV, two runs (one flight should do) and he's dead. I have even devstriked cruisers with the T8 US, and I have no b doubts it will be easier with Enterprise (and IJN) as they have AP bombs.
-
Well, I'm not quite a N00b on CV and not really very good either, and I trust you're not a N00b on DD. Enterprise is sort of OP, but I do not have it. I do not need to statpad or anything like that. Ark Royal is gonna be LOL anyway as I still like to take out Hermes for some twin-winged Swordfish fun... no matter what result. Can't get to grips with Implacable... but to me CV is not OP. I like Furious and Hermes though.

Tier 4 CV sealclubbing has to STOP!
BLUB__BLUB replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
Already bought - I'm not sure if you want the GOOD players though. They'll club around in whatever you give them. Have you ever seen @El2aZeR stats? They are gonna be OP anyway if he gets his hands on them mate.... -
Same here! Also, IMO that is how they should do "uneven" tier CVs. The RN had plenty carriers... Upgraded sister-ships of the even tiers - with more planes, and then with more modern planes. I do not see much difference with Ranger there TBH... Two passes and indeed the DD is dead, unless he is lucky or damn good. Depends. Jingles is a must have, and I'm still on the prowl for a discounted Warspite. Oh, and someday, a yellow submarine...

They still melt. It's easier though if you have the other 2, and grinded through them. -

That is why you do the slingshot all the time... yes I know... I'm a bit of a B@stard... -

....aaand today met @Boris_MNE in a random battle. -
maybe they can also make the submarine support vessels...

My Conqkek feels a lot better to play, really. I don't think it is a nerf, more like a change.
