Depends on skill, and a bit of luck. I'd not say AA is too heavy or not heavy enough. Just the problem is, there is no "active element". Like, avoiding torps by going NEO on them is satisfying. How would you feel if you'd not be able to steer, instead you just push a button, your sailors would put out "anti torp nets". And then you'd just have to see if they were smart or not. But AA strong? Ehh... But that is NOT why CV-players are hated. OP asked about "I can be #1 of team, have kraken, still get called idiot CV or N00b". It is because some 'toxic' players want the CV to be their assistant. They want slaves, not teammates. They want you to spot the BB they are farming. They want you to whack the DD that is torping them while they have FF-ed it up themselves. And they want it NOW. If not, N00b CV. No matter if you are at J10 with Ark Royal they'll want you to spot that BB at A1 else: idiot N00b CV. I'm sure we recognise them. When there is no CV, they want DDs to do the spotting. Race to cap where there's a Mino and a DM. THOSE are the players that hate CV and even if you do good still keep calling you N00b and idiot, because what they want is a slave, so they can farm/shine more. And why do I know? Because if I go spotting for them... and them kill the target... well... I'm still a N00b CV, right? TBH there were two (in division) and they DID get on my nerves... I dropped bombs next to them, told them SHUT UP because else... N00b CV didn't mind going pink... Now there's other haters too but they are in the red team. The more they hate you the better, because it means your team is winning.

They'd be stupid not to do premiums. Ark Royal works good. Probably most balanced. Just have the premium carry the "older" loadout, but a bit more of them. Saves work (no modelling...) and makes money. In some cases they'd not even have to remodel the ship itself much.

I'm happy to have my Ark Royal, but FINALLY let them use the "uneven tiers". There would be/should be some 'special' CV types there, but it's not gonna happen. So just fill those tiers. If you MUST have special CVs, bring them as PREMIUM. I'd fill up RN CVs no problem. Here's how: T4: HERMES T5: Glorious - to have Swordfish...mix Hermes and Ark Royal loadout. T6: FURIOUS (premium: ARk Royal); T7: Illustrious - just mix the plane types from T6 and T8. T8: IMPLACABLE (premium Indomitable has sunk?) T9: Majestic-class... plenty to choose from. T10: AUDACIOUS Giving the Premium RNs the planes from the previous class, but MORE of them seems to work... So, for the Indomitable, get the Furious loadout, same like they did with Ark Royal? They could also mix in some lend-lease stuff from the USA.

Last time I got Salem (also because I am going for Worcester, not DM). Main difference with DM (seems to me): - wayyy worse radar, have the guns pointing to where you expect the DD... you'll not have time to rotate them. - RN heal --> heals back 75% burnt ship, no problem. Angle it correctly and it is VERY hard to kill. Also, you can't fail to make credits... even if you FU enormously and your team lost. I'm guessing my next one will be Smolensk.

In a Hosho, no doubt. I'll be having fun torping Hosho with a sub then, LOL. I think there will be plenty to choose from.

You do, but that's more than luck. My guess is after a certain amount of games you sort of "see" what is gonna happen.

yeah, I sometimes manage, in the faster planes. You dive in "just after" a flak burst, and then you do not have to worry about them. The next one will come after you already passed that zone. Heheh so that is what I sometimes encounter... BOOM gone. I actually learned something new. Will try to use it... THANKS MASTERRRR Probably will be a problem in Ark Royal (half a second... LOL... with those snailplanes hahahaa).

But...well... this leaves me with a question, based on some of your own statements. The thing: You have stated before, that the UI does NOT display all FLAK as where it actually is. I know this to be true, as sometimes you fly through a black cloud, you think "well..."and nothing happens. Sometimes you avoid the black cloud, and still the squad explodes. Q1: So... that means, if there are people actually ABLE to avoid all flak, they are clairvoyants? Q2: I usually think FLAK may not be rendered correctly, but AT LEAST it is calculated correctly, based on your current speed/direction. Meaning, depending on the ship you are attacking, you should make sure that you change speed and direction often enough. That is, until you are past the FLAK and enter DPS, where you should just boost ASAP and GTFO ASAP. Correct? Plz explain masterrr, I may learn something here.

That's the thing, eh. I find in the higher tier CVs it doesn't matter much what I do. Yeah I can avoid FLAK, but I might as well turbo-boost in there and hammer that ship whatever. If I drop squad a bit I can repeat it right away. In the end RNG will favour me since I always get first load dropped. Nah, gimme Ark Royal, at least that requires some thinking when you get T8. Or fail-division it it and get T9.

I do not object to worst players being thrown off a cliff... The third factor is easily seen in Ark Royal - it is plane speed. If the planes are slow, it is easier to avoid FLAK (less skill required) but surface ships can avoid... they often do. That means counterplay is more of an issue. I think all CVs should be more like Ark Royal. Most of the difference between "unicum", reasonably skilled and potato player is (IMO) the thing that first strike always gets through. The potato will not even be able to use it - as manual aim means he'll miss and do no damage at all... the unicum will make full use. IMO this is not "skill gap"... there is no skill to be expected from the potato CV player. Auto-aim made RTS-potatoes "better", therefore the skill gap seemed less. I do not object to it either. Potato DDs (runs into cap, smokes up, dies), BBs (sails in straight lines at map border) and cruisers (broadside to close BB) are also "available in droves". We need potatoes to shoot/farm them, too.

Mate... I'm very very average... check my stats... now see what happens in a T8 game. Still killed one... hit loads of others... did 95K damage. That's with a T6 CV, with T4 planes. I was 4th in a T8 game. Note where the other CV ended up.... Here's what I do with that same T6 CV with the T4 planes in a T8 match. 21K damage, but only 13 minutes. Most da,age I do in later half of the battle when HE has knocked out some AA. And really I'm not the best CV player by a looooong shot.

No that's not true. I can strike ANY ship I want in the T8, even T10 Mino or Worcester or DM or whatever. I'll NOT DO THAT because there are more tasty objects... costing less plane vs more damage. Just depends on how you do it. A half-dead-HE-spammed-Mino is still a risk, but can be "done good". Don't even think about it if you're no good at avoiding the FLAK, or crappy at aiming. It won't be worth it. But if a full-health Mino is sitting ~ 500 m behind an island broadside... hell yeah. Torps it is. Same a full health Des Moines bowcamping... there is such a thing as slingshotting some bombers...

Main reason for this is "working as intended". WG ruled that the LAST plane in the squad gets SHOT FIRST. This means, your ship shoots at te planes that are not attacking... while your AA starts nibbling away at the LAST plane, the first plane puts some bombs on you. Yeah man... I couldn't believe it and had to read it 3 times, before the reality of that got through my brain. If I can avoid your FLAK bursts... then I can launch whatever, while you start at the rearmost plane. Means if I have enough "reserve" to at as a damage sponge, I'll torp/bomb/rocket you anyway. SO: Enjoy attacking my "spares/backup/second/third wave"... while the first three get through unless you shoot all the rest first.

We could have Chrysantos and MrConway as captains too. Every time you're on fire, "stats say you're having fun". Get detonated "Balanz has stuck again". Who can think of more?
