Yes, thinking like that, I agree. However they might have potatoed uselessly into some torps while sailing a straight line. Still too bad no island. They might have turned tail and then you'd have at least whacked that Myoko.
-
Yes that too. If you manage to do that you basically kept 30% of their team from being useful. Then again... how useful would those 3 Georgias and a Myoko have been, considering the dumbass action they took...
-
Too bad there wasn't an island... I have used them many times when that happened. When I disappeared behing it they usually gave up because there was no way of telling what I'd do. One time they gave chase... I had 100HP left...rammed the fattest one...
-
Actually you're better of wiggling a bit. You can afford to do it, as it loses some speed, but you have plenty. Makes it harder to hit, an most hits will deflect. But the guns - indeed. I always try to shoot when turned "as angled as possible". It gives better results than shooting while being broadside.
-
AP on Hood won't fail you. Just IF you are kiting that Gneisenau/Bismarck/Tirpitz and he doesn't show enough broadside, HE works. It will make them finally want to try ALL their guns... then use AP. BOOM (or knock out his front guns with AP...niiiice). They can't catch you, and they will want to, as you'll be kiting back to your teammates (hope they're not totally potato). So... they're gonna try...
-
Hood has good HE. I've used it on an angling Nelson. Until he showed juuust a bit too much side... then... BOOM. I'm quite sure Hood wins in a 1vs1 on open water. Done that quite a few times.
-
That too, but I'm not that good, so I've also been sunk by a damn Nürnberg... Best thing about Hood, if you are chasing such a Nürnberg, he will not get away... the power to citadel it is there even at 18km.
-
You are correct, I have sunk many German T8s with Hood by kiting them. Once I got two at the same time, sort of. And I'm not that good so probably it's not that hard. (in fact i consider it obligatory to attack German BBs when sailing Hood... OK not if they are T9 hahahaha)
-
I'm laughing about that, but quite sourly, as I know you are right.
-
I'd say if they give Currywurst a buff, make it: - more resistant to getting on fire; - give it an extra (fast) heal.
-
That first reason, if I do not take the CV we always get... well... someone more hopeless than me. But you can MAKE it interesting... div up and help your teammates. It is really hilarious. You score crap as you do not get to be a damagwhore, but really, harvest the salt.

Imagine having one of the best AA in the game yet the tier 8 CV just dabs on you

He is right, you know. I'm one of these potatoes. For example: I saw a cap being capped, so went there with RF. Spotted the DD. Of course I spotted him from 2.5K, so I needed to pass him, one plane orange already (crap). What I should have done is drop fighters and turn away. Now I had to spot him AGAIN. SO... did that. One plane dead. OK dropped the fighters (duh). Then I started the attack-flight. I was nicely "keeping him broadside" which has the largest chance of hits. Then he turned... So, I tried to correct AND THREW OFF THE AIM... 7 rockets hit, no fire... In a cruiser, I'd have killed that DD in a few salvoes. He'd not have lived another 2 minutes. He'd be DEAD. This one did, he ran away (squadron depleted) after one more run, having received a meagre 2500 dmg. -

Every armed trawler can rip off 50% DD Hp.... just saying... Usually taking far less time to reload than the planes take to turn around. -
MOST games I play last between 7-12 minutes. 6 min 33 sec would not be that much "below the norm".... As a result, damage output is very much... well... meh. Well, guess my own fault for playing weekends. Have a look at my stats and compare max/record damage with the average...
-
Oh masterrrr how come then I have not 80% WR, as I am far less stupid than he is. (I'd have gone for the yamato and hindi...)
-
Well, sort of - I know it gets me more XP (and the bugger can't try to snipe me). I'll have trioubl;e getting that 4K off him though. And 10K on a BB? probably more like 15-20. Also depends on what I "brought", though I will hunt DDs with torps, too. Yesterday I got an Acasta, he smoked up... ate two, dead... and another torp in his buddy Maass. I was lucky there. Main thing is, I'm not hunting them down... if I can get them easily, or I spot them, well, yeah they gonna get it. I must be doing something wrong though, 60-70- 80k is easy but 100K+ requires a lot of work. I certainly cannot do 70k average like you. The 70K is not a problem, just the 30k-short-whole-team-dead games in between.
-
IMO it's not at all stronger, just a sh#tload faster. You can whack more per minute. Also the torps are good for camping BBs that are juuusst a little too far away from their fav island. I go in straight at full speed, drop torps on their broadside, and leave in a bend (sort of). Also works on AA cruisers (ditch the first flight though, they all get shot - if you ditch too much only 1 plane might make the drop...).
-
Well, sometimes even divs will not save you. There's still 9 fools left... Seems like we got the same team...
-
That's what I thought as well but doesn't seem to work much. Or maybe I am helping other people (the reds...) to pad their stats?
-
No indeed I could find them if I want. just a matter of how much time I wanna spend chasing the little, hard to get, lousy dmg buggers. I'll need to get you some saved replays. I know I'm average, but no. It's not undodgeable. And RNGesus loves us all equally (devstrike also happens). The thing with the RF on AR is they rockets tend to have "horizontal spread". So you'll get the best results when target is fully broadside. The really good ones know it... and they get away with 25% less HP (or better) after three full strikes / one complete flight out. Well yeah. I could find him again... but would it be wort it.... or wuld I have to spend time hovering over his smoke, while getting shot at, or getting dakka from his teammates, or something? It's not really true... you may claim "torpedoes arrive faster" but that depends on a LOT of factors. Yes AR has 3 instead of 2. So maybe then speed = +150%. But you'll have a difficult job to hit all three on a cruiser. LOL. Well I guess we disagree. Or maybe you got sucking DDs, and are just much better playing CV. I had some of them DDs escape. And I played plenty battles in it - more than 150.
-
Well, could be worse. I had one lasted ~3.5 minutes in T10. I was in Conqkek got 3 salvoes off total score 5k. Harhar. Match lost because of all caps taken by reds and our team had zero points. Looked like they all had run into torps...
-
It would work if we had a world without blithering toxic idiots. But... I can see the "press pardon you n00B or I'll fire the complete set" coming already... Still, thanks for reminding that we actually DO HAVE some considerate players here.
-
Well, when they already are overhead then you are a bit too late... You can see them coming miles ahead (stop watching pR0n...). I had a few DDs that refused to die. Tried bombs, they evaded (if they first turn into you, then pull the handbrake...). Did try rockets after, also no worky. So far, that's about 5% but still. I could NOT kill them. Most I took was 25% off. After that, could not find them anymore (takes a while to get there...). Gave them +1. Of course there's also those DDs that eat torps like there's sugar on them... but well. Torps are another thing. Most BBs (and cruisers, too!) are able to avoid at least 1 of 3 torps. Some manage to evade all. Yeah bombs not so much... rockets also hit usually. It's hard to get that perfect shot on them though. I think the "attack speed" (LOL...) from those Swordfish planes has something to do with it. For example when I use Furious they hardly have time to say "oh crap". Yeah press "O" for AA-sector (meh). But against Ark Royal, ACTUAL counterplay is POSSIBLE.
-
There is, at least against Ark Royal. DDs can (and do) avoid strikes. Other CVs, forget it, you can't even react fast enough.
-
Aaaahhhhh bad me.... but what did I do? BTW my stats suck, I'm an absolute potato. Yes, at least I expect anyone that comments on CV to have tried it... I think some haven't. But then again, for those it won;t matter, they regard anyone not doing their will a pest, a nuisance and a N00b... It is... next up: why this is. You do not get points for spotting. Do you know the "service cost" for a T10 CV? What you are asking = go CV, lose credits to spot the flank for me. Would you do it? Of course CV will do it if he sees it will win the game. But still... no points for spotting --> it is not CVs job. It won't help. It only helps if you drop the fighters IN FRONT of him - meaning you must KNOW what direction the red CV is coming from. Else, your DD gets blapped anyway, OK your fighters will kill a few red planes after. Better drop 'em elsewhere. Now THERE is a reason: drop them where they spot ships you'll not want to attack. Like AA-cruisers... ...which they should. A CV is a cruiser with a deck and some secondaries. Ideally, you move up when you can - behind an island. But there's only a few, usually. And the reds know which ones. There's a note to this as well. Who is gonna save you when your teammates let a DD (or two, or two AND a cruiser) just cross a cap? Nobody... you'll need the fighters to keep that DD spotted. And they are limited supply. ...but mind that you are spotted halfway across the map. 14km for Ark Royal... I think they'll just cry twice as bad but we'll see. It is. It is better to drop them over enemy DDs so the naughty buggers get shot up. Or near a blob. Or near the red CV. To provide spotting. Cause RTS CV had auto-aim. I've seen many REEEE-CVs miss all torps, screw up bomb runs, et cetera. In the RTS, those would just give up CV. Currently they potato their way to T10 (same as in other ships).
