I'm having an easier time with Furious somehow. I agree to that though. Except for Incapable... ehh... Implacable.
-
Note that they did add the barrel-throwers. They weren't there before. For sure this is about the submarine-thing. I wonder when we get this: BTW caught a pic of the Russian depthcharges just being shipped:
-
I find those the most fun, too. But.... ... I also think you are very much correct there, unfortunately. Implacable is IMO worse than Furious (gimme T9 and Furious instead of Implacable hell yeah!). I got ARk Royal because I said that if they'd equip it with Swordfish, I'd buy it and just "Git Gud". Well 50% succeeded so far, still kinda crappy sometimes. I find the thing a fun challenge though. Mainly I play Ark and grinding the IJN (which are somewhat easy).

Well yeah the speed difference is somewhat similar, but it does matter. They take longer to accelerate though (but they do decelerate like hell, that's for sure). But what do you think is easier to hit, a plane flying 80-130 or one that does 130-180? I see a clear difference in hitrate for (Swordfish) DB and TB vs the RF. Here's why, at least what I am thinking: You'll probably agree, that if the planes travel 100m/sec the spaces/gaps between FLAK are larger than if they go 50m/sec. I found if you go in really fast (not Swordfish...), you might even get only 1-2 FLAK shots before you are through the zone. Not so with Swordfish. You will most likely get 3-4, and they are (logically) less far apart. This means the speed of the FLAK-shot is relatively faster than with fast planes. As in, try to hit a French DD on speedboost with Sims, or with something that has fast shells. There is just a smaller "circle" where the Swordfish can be after the time-lapse between FLAK. Now another thing - I found with Swordfish if you go TOO slow/swerving and you attack a ship that has large FLAK clouds, you actually will end up not having passed Flak cloud #1 before Flak cloud#2 comes up. I bet if they'd stand still the front would be in cloud #2 while the rear still is in cloud#1, or something. What I do is I try to "fly between the gaps". I find it a LOT harder because the planes are so slow. (and then... is that a gap... or is it lag/working-as-intended/glitch and just invisible?). I suppose with KAGA it is like having Midway at T8, you avoid the first FLAKburst, then you speed up and the 2nd FLAKburst will not even happen, mostly.

He means Enterprise got pulled from Premium shop That's true. Which is probably why they pulled it to join Belfast and the like in Premium-X-mas boxes. Ark Royal gets lots of T7/T8, and the planes aren't fast enough to really clubber if you get T5/T6 (almost never happens though). What happens then is the other sharks are much faster to gobble up everything, LOL.

I have TS, just name the server. I'll try to help (hahaha two potatoes must be better than one, right).

Master @El2aZeR says: because of balanz comrade. Ah well, sometimes also you are sure you missed them but receive damage anyway. I also noticed in replays it is "corrected"... sometimes... and sometimes not. Working as intended... That MIGHT BE it. But also, maybe the masterrr is right, and we should go to Gulag. ANyway it is the reason a simple left/right flick won't do. FLAK will "predict your trajectory". So if you go fast, you can cheese them by sudden braking. You can also cheese them by pulling other stunts. But well, you may brake/steer and get a combination that is "unlucky". AKA you avoid the predicted one and end up right in the one that you tried to "cheese". Also... try accelerating /braking in Ark Royal... well... yeah... LOL! Where do you see me telling you that? You probably do know how to dodge, seems to me you're doing very damn well. I'm telling you FLAK is not always there where the game displays it to be. If you're being "irritated"at wiggling, do you think this cuts the mustard then?
-
Well, I grinded the US to T10 and the RN to T8. But maybe I should mention I use torps to kill DDs as well. Indeed they don't turn that fast... also, it helps to keep them spotted, sometimes teammates DO wanna help. So far I haven't thought out what to do if DDs try to get me when I'm in IJN CV. Ah well... probably I transform into a submarine? I usually do not pop them on my own DDs, but will "light up" targets for them when they are in smoke. They seem to like that even better... especially the RN CLs.... man they really go dakka then.
-
On other IJN CV I have similar problem with RF, but they're good enough, I score ~same on BBs no matter what rockets (IJN/RN/US) I use. Probably the dispersion on IJN is higher, or my aim with IJN is just crap, I get same low damage with RN/US CVs if I potato.
-
Yes that. But that almost never happens, maybe 1 in 25 games . I think they are more useful when the team lets some DDs through. More like 1 in 4 games... Maybe should have stated: I play on weekends...
-
I have Ryujo... someday I'll have the other ones as well. Not quite sure if the AP is OP or not, yet. Damage done seems quite similar to HE, in the end. Though... it's not repairable. And as such, well, there is something to be thought about. However - some Premiums have AP, so THAT will never be changed. I guess we're stuck with it.
-
Well... first, you have to avoid flak. But as @El2aZeR pointed out, the FLAK is often not where the black explosions are. Meaning the user interface isn't always where it is seen. So "wiggle like hell". Just left/right usually isn't enough. Also, mind that the pattern differs, depending which ship you are attacking.
-
Hot damn. Way better than mine. You even have a higher damage record, too! But I'm not that good. Getting there though! What do you think about Ark Royal? More "balanced" than the rest? I find DDs have a chance to escape rockets - and BBs have a chance to escape torps. None of them have a chance to escape the HE-carpetbombers though.
-
Those planes, IF you want to spend them on friendlies, are better put spotting something. Like spotting the enemy CV... or a CL behind an island... something like that. BUT you might need them later (usually because, well, team lets DDs through and doesn't help...).
-
That would be the gamble,, you can use minimap and attack - but you might be coming from the wrong direction, and have to swerve. Or be too close, and F-up the attack. As such you'd be getting a lot more AA, if you're unlucky, even for nothing. Mind it would also mean the planes are a lot slower when they are below the clouds. And planes could still be shown/c detected on minimap, too. Because you can hear them (well... normally). Hahah can you imagine.... you get detected above cloud, you think, Hey there's that DD, swoop down, and then you find an unspotted Mino...

I don't play DDs but as a CV player I'd say KIDD is the most @%^@#^@#@^@ annoying b'stard of them all. My divvy loves his Sims though, as it gets better matchmaking. Depends if you like US DDs though. Mostly gunboats with seamines (slowwww mooooovingggg....) for torps. I like Ark Royal but it is a challenge to do well in, though always gets you credits. It is also my preference as I hate higher tier gameplay. Many many campers. Best campers are the Russian BBs... but seems to me the normal one are just as good as the premiums. I'd say save a few bob for getting Premium camo on the (normal) silver line ships that you love. I love the RN cruisers... some of them will definitely get premium camo (as did Queen Elizabeth, but hey that's me, I love slow fat BBs). And you'll grind a LOT faster if you have premium account (which is usually 50% off around X-mas). ALSO a lot of stuff is on discount that time. So if the coupon lasts...
-
IMO reduce the attack speed on planes, and make them have "above cloud" travel speed (where they don't spot). That way they'd have to descend to spot (and to see what they are attacking) and then the victim has time to react. Now they are just too fast, they zoom around spotting everything and all the victim can do is press "O", hopefully in time.
-
Sure they do. BBs get attacked by planes. CVs usually not as they are mostly at the rear of the pack, and besides that, when planes attack the CV it is spotted - and it will not live long enough to make many kills... Most CVs are just big, fat, cumbersome cruisers. Yes they are fast in a straight line... but that's about it. They do not have large guns or fat armour. Mainly they are large floating piñatas. The massive AA stops one CV from feasting on the other CV, but that could have been done in the RTS version too. WG thinks as long as averages add up, it is balanced. It is not really, IMO. I think balance should be when equally able players could "nullify" eachother. As in: both get nothing done, or both get killed. May the best win. Now it is like, give one a machine guin and give the other a bulletproof vest, but you can still get a headshot. But OK they gave him a button (DefAA) that makes him wear a temporary hat. Duh. Will not stop the ones that have good aim, eh? CVs are a bit difficult to get to their full potential. I'm not that good, but practising. I have no doubt a very good player will pull 120K+ in Ark Royal, every time. Not me, so far. But... he'll also be able to do that in (for example) Arizona, or Warspite. Actually, yes. Though I doubt if they'll balance it AND make it fun. I find high tier CVs no fun. All you do is sort of launch rockets against hapless victims, sort of. The counterplay is a lot RNG-related, not MUCH the player can do against you. Planes are much too quick for most players to react in any way. Before they know it, bombs/torps/rockets are heading their way. Then again, in high tiers most of the gameplay is like that which is why everybody plays hide-and-seek. The main thing I find Ark Royal fun is because it is actually sort of a challenge. When you dive in for torpedo-attack, you must do it right else the victim can avoid. Even IF you do it right, he can do it right too and eat only one torp instead of three. This is mostly because the planes are slow - the victim can decide to take avoiding action, and often does.
-
THIS indeed. Seems like most players think, well we have a CV, so... wel he MUST do the work so we can FARM IN PEACE. Well a CV has to make due too, in Furious at least 35K or you won't break even on credits. But they don't care.\ Same thing they let a DD slip by, probably if he kills my CV they lose. They don't care if they can just harvest more dmg. Same thing if a DD gets into our base: "go fix that, CV"! and when it is 2DDs and 2 AA-cruisers: "N00b CV!".... Do you know what "ambulance CV" is? Well: CV do-this-do-that-do-this-do-that ---> Tatiii taatuu tatiii tatuuuu tatiii tatuuuu.... I had some BB nutters yell all kinds of insults at me for not spotting for them (they were at other side of the map). They were going on and on, finally I took the bombers, went over to the other side, dropped one right next to them on their camper-island. Told them to STFU or next one would send them into oblovion, and I'd gladly go pink for it, too. Well that DID shut them up. I also reminded them that their AA would not prevent it... and if they didn't do their jobs and start pushing, my torps would get them. They said they'd make a ticket but since then never saw them again, so there must be some good judges over at WG helpdesk. Or more likely they told them to go F themselves. I'll go as far as complimenting a red DD and giving him +1, if he escaped my attempts to kill him and/or sunk my CV. Oh, and also I'll applaud that red DD if he managed to sink a stupid borderhugging camper BB... yeah yeah, zero karma indeed (I once got 5 minus karma for going LOLOLOLOL when a Shima torped such a Derpitz from 20km.... didn't matter as I had zero karma anyway).

Actually that is one of the most balanced CVs in my opinion. These are "damn good games"though. Usually, 70k or so, I can do much better in general with the "silver" RN. I measure ships "crap or not" by how easy they can do 100K. If not at all, I consider them mega-crap. I'll not be surprised if I can get 200K in this one though. But it's hard in this one to get 100K. Mainly because the attacks are actually avoidable - planes being so slow! But that actually makes it a challenge. Meh. They'd better: - Remove the "2 CVs per side" or even 3 (one is ENOUGH); - fill the uneven tiers - just mix stuff up. - put out some premium CVs so the cash can go to making things better. That doesn't mean "fix CVs", plenty option for that but the7y do not listen anyway. Then at least give us some new maps and fix the Operations. Maybe some new game-modes!
-
I do not. I'll hunt them if I get help, damned if I have to be the only one that spends indeed 50-70% of the match hunting them. Oh often enough I get one or two. But if my team cannot be arsed, neither can I.
-
It is, however I never prioritise the scrawny little buggers, as long as they do not annoy me. But I do get annoyed very easily though. And then I exterminate them or just shoo them off. IMO it is not the CVs job to kill DDs, though it can, that is the job of cruisers and other DDs. CV should be whacking BBs and generally helping out where needed. If that is a DD/CL/BB teammate facing off against a DD, OK. But it is not the CV job to clear all the DDs unless they are the major problem. In that case though, team isn't doing the job they are supposed to do. Usually a loss. Hey but if they dare come after my CV they have it coming, of course. Any DD passing the halfway mark gets it.
-
This is the point, mostly. Some (most?) DD pilots are kinda "not that good" as well. Add to that, each tier up the damage gets more devastating. Hence the very very "camping" gameplay in high tiers. There's no fun in that, which is why I'll never buy a premium > T7. Some T8 look tempting... but I know I'll get T10. So... no fun, and twice as expensive as a T6. Hmmm.
-
Probably same thing as when you are behind an island in a surface ship. The rear guns are blocked. What happens.... you just shoot the island with half the guns. (working as intended)
-
If you did - well then at first more info is required. Was this unfair/stupid/RNGesus hating you or what? We know you had GAEDE. What CV was it? Mind that NO CV can kill you ïnstantly", same as a cruiser or BB or another DD. Uhhh.. well maybe they can but RNGesus hates you. I mean REALLY hates you. Must mean it was a certain CV, and a certain weapon, and RNGesus really really hates you. Some CVs just can't do it at all. For example some have TWO AP-bombs, on dive-bombers. Chang ces BOTH hit you are nil, or RNGesus really really really really really hates you. And then, your DD has no citadel, so overpens galore (well... two at most). Of course CV has multiple strikes in 1 attack. But that's not really "insta-kill", or is that what you meant? So please explain... the only time I get "instakill" on a DD, with RN or US Cvs, is when: - they manage to eat two torps from same strike... (and really... that is quite an accomplishment); - they get whacked with all the bombs from the HE-carpet bombers (rarely... happened ONCE); - they get DETONATION... yes that happens. But I have seen it happen A LOT more when they get hit by cruisers/BBs.
