It doesn't, indeed. But it will show that it is OP or maybe not compared to others. And then... (see below).... The 5% top will still so better in it than in any other ship if it is OP. But then you can take the 5% lowest-players and see what they do. If they do very well in it, then it is the ship that is too easy.

Fiji is great fun, however very blappable (probably like Flint) and then you lose credits. I suppose they are quite similar except Flint also has HE. And she'll be perfect for my camper-hate... Salem is good for CB though less so than DM, the radar is really kinda crud. If you have a DM, don't buy it. However I went the other route (to Worcester) so that is why I got it, plus the economy in T10. I can potato around in it all the time and still grind captainXP and make credits and FXP. The minimum amount of dmg to "break even" is about 30k. That is what you'll get if you cause one fire that burns full length... That is correct. I have never lost credits with it even in the worst kind of games.

Yes, that's the problem I have with Edinburgh and Neptune... They start feeling more and more sluggish. I miss the nimbleness from Leander. I'm curious to what Minotaur will bring. If it goes "back" I'll be happy. And if it is more Neptune it will probably collect rust in port.
-
If you want to know what is best-of-best, you use the top 5%. I think mostly because it is played by players that play it more. Correct. T9 is just played as food for T10, and then sold off. Unless you have a T9 premium, or the ship is very strong, nobody will keep a T9. A handy thing would be to know how many times a T9 gets to be top tier. I think fairly close to zero. I might keep my Neptune... but wel... probably not, once I have Mino. I did keep Leander, Fiji and Edinburgh... last one was doubtful though, but for same reason. It takes some special person who likes to get whipped all the time...
-
I think Leander is the best (due to the least sluggish braking/acceleration), but also: 5 torps for Leander, 4 for Fiji, 3 for Edinburgh... Means you are less and less able to defend yourself when some #@#@# thinks it is time to chase the RN cruiser in smoke. Neptune gets a bunch more, Mino has more than many DDs. Fiji vs T9 or Edinburgh vs T10 is no fun.
-
Yeah could do that. Two things could be a problem: 1. That DD knows and he'd get himself lost; 2. You'd drop fighters but he'd go the other way or shoot them and still get lost. Then you'd have to find him again, and that time is better spent sinking something... *(which is why I prefer to hit them with whatever I have, however, AP bombs not that good).
-
Well, because sometimes you have DB flying, and you meet a DD? But I agree RF are better, MUCH better to swat DDs.
-
Admits Kremlin.... Complains about Smolensk.

Main thing here: you were trying to be TOO helpful. Also, do not count on others to do any jobs... assume they'll screw up. You cannot help ships get rid of CV, for example I will easily bypass fighters that are dropped on a DD. IF you want to help the team, drop fighter so they spot enemies... or drop torps, in such a way they either hit or if the ship avoids he shows broadside to your team. (this will result in lower damage... but better winrate...). Note that the fighters are your only tool to spot for yourself if your potato team lets a DD through that attacks you.
-
@NoobySkooby Yes the braking distance... I usually crash them into an island, smoke, and reverse....
-
I suppose so. I do not have Kaga. But it works in all other CVs. Ehhh. scratch that, I had little success bombing DDs in Ryujo, as it only has 2 AP bombs. Kaga has HE-bombs... I suppose same as Lexington, try to release them at the last moment to get the best hits.
-
the best way to play them is behind a DD that is not a total noob. He geos cap, spots something, ideally you should be <5km behind. If you are not behind a rock (best) you can create your own with smoke. If you ARE behind a rock, you can use smoke to cover your retreat. Or sit in it while they (hope it is a fat BB) come near enough to torp them. Which is sometimes a glorious death but hey. Another trick you can do is sit behind (LARGE) island, keep quiet and ambush a fat BB with torps, cover your retreat with smoke.... and keep running because usually you don't kill them. Then keep wiggling, shoot from the rear and hope you kill him before he kills you. Team up with a divvy that also has RN cruiser... share the endless smoke... That is how I got my damage record in Fiji.
-
My damage is much lower, but I keep up the WR even in weekends. Because I always troll anything that caps. Also, I use the fighters offensively. That is, I will put them ~10k from the enemy CV... and from BBs... just out of range of their AA, but spotting them. There's always a few BBS very gratefull blasting their butts after that. Same thing with camping cruisers and BBs. I keep an eye out for ships running away, and then I try to blap them as well. How about torping them. Yes you can. Swoop on them, but do not launch... it will scare them and they will run. Then, when they do not evade anymore (because they think it's BS anyway), you launch torps (aim well ahead... they are FASSSSTT...). Next time you dive, they will smoke up... keep an eye where they are gonna stop... make sure you hit. Takes practise, but worth it, two torps are enough. Sometyiems even one (if he's not full HP). I find torping DDs much more satisfying than carpetbombing them. Oh the salt. Oh, and use the rockets on BBs. They'll all hit, almost all the time - and they set fires, too. One fly-out on the rockets should get you 8K. More if you set fire.

So far I quite like T4/6 and the Ark Royal. However the Implacable, better name is Incapable. Really in a T8 match I do better in Furious... or in Ark Royal. @Cazbol your DMG is higher than mine though, how do u manage that, I can't get any perma-fires (RNG hates me or the CV just sucks). I'm not doing the three things that were suggested but I'd much rather have Furious.
-
I often play with my son, he's a DD main... takes Sims and then I take Ark Royal. Too bad I can;t see the faces of T9 players when they get whacked by Swordfish. BTW I don't mind getting T9 (maybe 5% though). Yes they are a bit harder, but they still burn nicely. And many many campers. Seems the higher tier, the more campers behind island. Island shields from detection... great!!
-
This, really. Plus then when you finally have a nice perma-fire crackling, the teammates kill the ship... LOL. (which is why I am grinding the IJN line now, and also why I haven't bought Kaga --> HE bombs...).
-
Well the best comparison is just like a burderhumping BB. Which sometimes has to be hunted down as well. However you do not have the armour of such a BB. Means you'll be dead a LOT quicker. And you'll be dead quite quickly if you have a potato team. A lot sooner than the borderhumping BB.
-
With "last one sunk" I mean they have to chase the CV all over the map with whatever is left of their team. And then the CV usually manages to take one or two down to Davy Jones...
-
This is the same I use. The fat print I get first. Then SE on the US CV, because I have Ovechkin (he gets double points on CE). It will depend on the captain and the CV what you use. On ARk Royal, no sight stabilisation but Demolition Expert. On some CVs the Torpedo Acceleration is handy.
-
I do same, some games in never use rockets... goes for all CVs (IJN, US, RN...). I usually torp everything, if they get flooding then return with bombs. Sometimes I do it other way around, depends on MM. I have yet to get T5-6 MM...
-
But the non-CV players even if potato, can actually take a CV and... Oh wait, they do... Only if they meet a red potato team with a red potato CV. That big Piñata is easy prey if your team sucks. Only a good CV player will survive onto the end if he has a potato team. If he's no good and has potato tem, he'll be dead quickly. Because after capping, guess what DD is gonna do... OK a really lucky one might as well, as usual you'd better be lucky than good.
-
I think you're right. My usual method of avoiding FLAK in IJN (well... Ryujo) CV TB is, to come from behind at about 7km, start the attack and then turn in. Yes you can also put torps in from the side, but it depends a lot on estimating speed. By launching them ~45 degrees towards the ship, they can only turn, and even then their rear eats a torp. ALso, it avoids flak pretty well - provided you dive in AFTER one blob spawns, and keep full boost. But the I usually lose them on exit (well, job done I guess). On DB the method of early attack works much better, you can cover more distance than in Ark. The last bit they sort of stand on the nose, after that you have little time to drop the bombs. The rocket planes though... can't hit DDs, and BBs are sort of not very vulnerable. I'm quite curious how KAGA compares, is on my X-mas list ( I like smacking camper BBs most of all).

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Difference between you and me is you make the same CV seem like a rail gun, and to me it is more like a pea shooter.... -
THIS. Edit: very very much this. I do have Lexington, if you get Implacable and you already have Lexi then you'll go "uuuughhh".

First thing is true, calculation is just direction and speed at that moment (vector). However I wonder if the second is accurate - I thought FLAK spawned in regular time, not distance-intervals?? It might be where I C*ck-up, then. But the WOWS wiki says "Flak guns reload and throw up new flak clouds every 2 seconds". So, staying 2 secs longer in the zone = get one more set of flak cloud spawning. Also it states, about slower plane "The depths of zone (marked x1 and x2) depend on the speed of the aircraft, and are smaller for slower planes." IMO that means it is more accurate. However the "cloud"of one FLAK-burst i still just as large, if you are slower you'll spend more time in it. (which of course we will not, we will avoid them all even the ones "not showing but still being there" due to lag or whatever, because we are GOOD). https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Anti-Aircraft_Fire#Flak I'll have a look if I can find any updates about it, but maybe Masterrr @El2aZeR knows, or do you know where that's stated? Well... indeed very true you do not HAVE TO start attack while still in Flak, but... But here's the thing, Masterrr @El2aZeR gave the tip to JUST DO THAT with DB as varying height is hard to deal with for FLAK. Which I found to be true... so I start the DB attack as soon as possible, taking far less damage. I just cannot start it too soon because else numbers go into red... in fact I can start attack earlier with Ryujo fast DB. I dunno about KAGA. But with Ryujo it is sort of obligatory to start the torpedo run really early, else they don't aim. That is the funny thing really. I have RN, US and IJN CVs. But there is not much difference at all for captain skills. I find the most difference is if you have AP or HE-bombs, and what are the specific strong points. Also sometimes you have a specific "expert this-that" captain which may make it worth something which otherwise would not. I'd say though first 10 points are sort of generic for every CV and is to maximise plane strength and speed / regeneration.
