Yes they are, but to whack another BB or a CL/CAyou must sometimes take a risk. And you CAN so that is what you need to do. The damage you take while doing that is "tanking". For example you see two cruisers, and they are broadsiding, now you want to kill them but you cannot kill two. What you do is you go in, and try blap one. Say yoiu're lucky (or good) and you get the first, the second will put you on fire, and so will his maties. But you have blapped one - and now take the punishment, for the team. THAT is tanking. BTW: Potatoeing around and getting HE-spammed by cruisers that you cannot see (...and not shoot) is just that: potatoeing. I doubt it, I'm not that good. My awareness of surroundings leaves something to be desired. Many times I have been waiting for that CL to show his nose, and then his DD mate torped my behind... I'm sort of average. However I do know when to take advantage when the situation arises. I can shoot pretty good, too. And I'm not scraed to take a risk if beneficial. However, my judgement of when it is beneficial leaves something to be desired as well. What I can do is show you some stupid stuff, like how to wreck stuff in Conqkek. This usually depends on the surprise effect, as I sail Conqkek with AP and close to the caps. Usually I get more points from blapping DDs than from burning anything, also I make it a mission to flank Russian BBs and then multi-cit them to the bottom. Of course, that is when the "tanking" starts... and the use of (hopefully enough) concealment to GTFO and try it again.

Are you sure? We had HE-spam, Reeeee-work, and we yet have to get subs... just to name a few.

CV: Always blamed for the loss of a game
BLUB__BLUB replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
That is one of the most dumb things in WoWS. They could have made balancing a LOT easier. NOW it is like, higher tier, you have less chance that you ship catches fire. Also, captain skills will grow. So, higher tier ships also need more chance to SET fire. PLUS they have larger guns, and fatter armour. If they'd given the low tiers worse armour and less pen, as is now, but reversed the fire chance (lower tier = less pen, but more fire-setting ability), then they'd have gotten a much easier balance thing. It might even have been possible to mix T5 with T10. Sure the lower tiers would get shot to bits, then again they'd burn down the higher tiers. Actually a T3 will catch fire twice as easily as a T10. Bummer. So there you come with your T7 King Orc, you are alsmost half easier to set on fire than that T9 cruiser... -

Yet you are telling him. You tell him "do not play CV". That will fix it. ROFL. -

Well, next ranked is gonna be 1 vs 1 so we'll see. It's T8, right? Ah well. I have yet to see the BB that can stand up to Lexi. Three torp runs and that will be it. Unfortunately, as I like BBs too. (and I do not even have Enterprise or Kaga...). -

You're too lazy to read, or watch the replay? There's no way he could have won that game. I think more games are lost to your kind of snowflakes, being afraid the paint on their BB gets scratched, than CV players. But you seem more like a long-distance torp spamming type. Go ahead, have a look at the replay and tell me what brilliant performance that the Brindisi had. He thought the CV was so bad, even told the enemy the position. -

Well dude, it is like women really. Or (in this time) men whatever you prefer. The ones you fork out for and you spend money on, only after you got them you can say if they were disappointing or not. Some you get for free or for a bit of a grind and they never fail to satisfy in one way or another. -

In case you didn't know, that thread is also CV-players complaining about the design. However, telling people "just do not play CV" is total and utter snowflake BS. Go complain in that thread then, this thread is about something else completely. Oh wait, it is not. This thread is sort of about YOU. Blame CV, blame CV-player, they just shouldn't play CV... -

How about He-spam cruisers then, you'll feel like a hotdog being roasted. Thing is, this game is about putting shells (or whatever) in the enemy. Burn them, blap them, sink them. Probably not enjoyable for the enemy... but that's not the point. Your team needs to win, that is the object. CVs can lose or win the game just like any other ship. Problem is there's not much counter-action. Yes you can mitigate damage, but no direct action unless you go and find the CV. Which we also saw in OPs replay - I'm quite sure that Tirpitz was coming for him. Tirpitz damage mitigation left something to be desired though (sailed straight on... LMAO). -
Well, really simple. You want to be BEHIND something that detects piñatas. Could be a DD, buit doesn't have to be. A CV that is spanking the piñatas is good, too. But if it is a DD then try take out whatever is threathening him most, else you lose your spotter and you'll have to re-locate. If you are detecting them yourself, you're doing it wrong and will be blapped when they see you. But you want to be in the range where you can harvest the piñatas. WIthout them detecting you. So sit behind your fav island, or share smoke with a DD, or else run like hell while zig-zagging. Best cruiser players know where the BBs usually go/pass/park, and they know where to park themselves. It is not a matter of "enormous talent". More a matter of knowledge where the best piñatas are usually found. Watch the minimap... it is like fishing, but you are fishing sharks. If they can hit you, you're gonna need a bigger boat. I had games where I was sitting (in Omaha) in a "ring" of islands, was sailing around at top speed, sometimes I'd get detected. This caused the (lemmingtraining, as was usual on this map) BBs to shoot, when they saw me. None of them hit... I harvested then one by one, and they kept on coming.... until finally some of them (two) made it past the point where I could harvest them. It was because there were two... I could not harvest them both so hard they could not push through. Still managed to torp one before the other one blapped me. They probably like your perfume. No seriously it could be that they want AA, but that would be smart thinking from them. Usually it means they have been pushed back as far as the CV... so start running.

CV: Always blamed for the loss of a game
BLUB__BLUB replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
Well, do you expect to get shot in a wargame or not, or are you just a snowflake? If you do not want to play vs CV, pick a training room. The bots will not complain. Heck you can even play a CV there yourself. So, if you try to prevent people from playing what is offered in the game, just because YOU do not like it, what does that make you then? -
My guess is that you're not a married man. You'll learn...

I didn't even check. I'm sure it is in, as is Belfast. WG predictable? How about the buyers of these lootboxes... I can tell you now how it's gonna go, and I'm not a fortune-teller.

Never mind, WG never checked any of those, and when you are at zero then you can't go lower anyway. Besides, it doesn't mean anything. It's useless. At 100 karma will give you one more up/downvote and that's it. Yeah, never play any ships that anyone else could regard as OP (name the list if you like), and also play according to what the whiniest of them all-demanding-chat-typers and dead generals say, else fear the karma. I'd say those are the same that play Monopoly without money (the commie version), because else it isn't fair. Simply put, IMO they're all snowflaky windowlickers. Whining is the new courage! -

It gets worse. Say I want to attack BB/DD/CL, and fighters were dropped over him. Notice that fighters (4, usually) fly around in a circle. Now... what do I do... I attack when they have passed my vicinity. I will have dropped the (torps, bombs, rockets) before he can kill my attack-wing. He'll not go after the reserve planes... he'll shoot my attack wing but AFTER they delivered. Since fighters can only do 1 attack, they'll disappear. leaving me free to use the next wing... So far I am not perfect at executing such stuff. But I have seen those that are. My disadvantage? I have to wait for the fighters to be at a specific point in their "patrol circle". -

The best evil needs practise to do good. Ehhh... well. Currently I am 3rd place in "most played EU" for Ark Royal. The amount of Git Gud is still underwhelming, only 60th from Top Dog in most damage. Practise makes perfect? How about... Potato makes pervert. Flak doesn't shred your squadrons, YOU fly into flak that shreds your squadrons. Simple: - FLAK gets fired at a steady rate (2 secs or so); - the FLAK spawns: calculated to YOUR speed and DIRECTION. - so, look at FLAK as an auto-bot-DD spamming torps, in 2 secs they'll hit where you will be THEN; - but...calculated on your speed and direction. - JUST MAKE SURE you are not there at those next 2 seconds. - REMEMBER: he cananot aim. The bot does it for him, based on YOUR movement. - So, if you get hit by FLAK... YOU were the one aiming it... What you do (made simple): - you get the "warning". This is when you: speed up, one sec later hit the brakes, one second later you swerve, then one second later you hit throttle, one second later you swerve again... I have been able to cross WHOLE BUNCHES of ships (and hit the one in the middle...) doing that. At some point (I make it my JOB to attack German BBs...) I got a 'sense' for their AA. The first few Flak blots always spawn on left/right. Then the next one will be... et cetera. Done often enough, you get a feeling. I can now hit a Bismarck with sort of impunity. His FLAK will not save him... I just take damage from the DPS (short distance) bubble. Depending on how he maneuvres I can get all three squads in... and yes that is a T6 CV vs a T8 BB. -

I think CVs are worse. Just the credit-deficit kicks in at T6 and there's where the potatoes usually stop. BB credit-deficit kicks in around T8. And I should know... -

CV: Always blamed for the loss of a game
BLUB__BLUB replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
That is exactly what he means. If one of yoyur 3 ships had been a CV, that Z23 would have died. Hell even if you had one CV left and 2 Z23s the CV would have won, most likely. What you do here is not demonsterate te he superiority of the DD Z23. You demonstrate the inability of 3 ships to turn defeat into victory. This is the fallacy. The Z23 didn't need to do anything to win. If he had to, he'd have lost. A CV might just have done it. Z23 never. -

BLUB__BLUB replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
If it has no counter it doesn't really depend on the player. Look at it this way: - If we race a big fat 1000HP Porsche vs a Soccermum van, whodo you think is OP? - Now what if we put them both on a track in the Alps, which one is OP? - Which one you think wins everytime? ...and here's the MAIN QUESTION: - Would it change if we give BOTH a half-blind drunk imbecile for a driver...
