    Indomitable. Just plain bad.

Well I never hit more than 8/10 from the carpet bombs, and that is in a perfect pass. Also the drop of bombs is definitely RNG-based, even if you aim correctly - so are torps (bit Indomitable hasn't got them). The spread of the rockets is also RNG based, even if your aim is good. Yes immunity period 20 secs. But |I have seen it often that, no matter what I did, no fire happened. I always supposed that is because that part was already burnt to a crisp. Checks out you are correct! 13.7% to be exact... but how many bombs do they have, and what is the spread on them. Granted if you miss more than 50% of Ark Royal carpet bombs on a BB you are stupid. Nevertheless they'll not hit all. One drop is 3 bombers x 8 bombs (so: 24), how many on Indomitable? 2 bombers, 6 bombs (12) and the Premium shop says chances of fire are 27% not 32%... I'm not sure I trust the WG data on that one though (checked for AR so that is sure). I reckon you'd have a hard time getting a second swipe though, where I often get two and sometimes (part of) three with Ark Royal. Also... that is T8 vs T6, have a look at the "fire-resistance"for the ships. 0.77 vs 0.64. That percentage drop is around 1/5th. So yes the Indomitable needs more fire chance, and it has only half the amount of bombs. So, calculated for AR that is a T6, (13.7% x 24 x 0.7669)= 2.52 For Indomitable it would be a T8 (27% x 12 x 0.6337)=2.05 which means it will cause 20% LESS fires than Ark Royal. NOTE: ...and because higher tier ships will often have more captain skills (like BoS) that means even less chances of causing fire. Now, this does NOT negate the fact that Indomitable probably can get more strikes in than poor old slow Ark Royal. But it also doesn't calculate for plane depletion. I never run out of bombers with Ark Royal. I've seen Indomitable run out...

Hold on, He also decides if it will hit or not. There is no guarantee to that 33%, even. That 33% gets negated by tier (higher tier ships have less chance of burning) and captain skills like BoS (10% reduction). I'm quite savvy with Ark Royal but I get ONE fire only 1 out of 10 attacks. And then there is also the chance of saturation, or the thing getting blapped 1 second after you get a fire. RNGesus must love you a whole lot. He takes many many sheep.

Dude that is a WG check. Spreadsheet says you're having fun, now go to Gulag. The only thing it says is 80k average is doing exceptionally well (or RNGesus loving you much, since fires and perma-fires depend on RNG).

That's the point. You cannot have high WR in this CV without either luck or div-mates. There is not much alpha-damage output, so unless the DoT is really impressive it is just a sucking CV. For example, I average ~40K in Ark Royal. This is because an average "normal" game I'll do 80k, but there's not much of those. Such a normal game would take 15 minutes - irrespective if my team wins or loses. More and more you get ROFLSTOMPS though. In such games a CV like Ark Royal will do much less, more like 20k, as it is mostly DoT. If I do 80K in Arizona, that is for sure a win. Also... it does mean a few kills, and probably a carry. AND I can be dead half the match. Damage already done, and influence delivered. Not so in Ark Royal. Yes I can do much more damage, but it needs time, and half of that damage is fire. Might not even get a kill and do 120k, and even lose the game. Easy: 120K = 6 totally burnt perma-fires on BBs. Will it have effect on the match, probably yes. But a carry? Hell no.

He's right at some point though. Ships that pull forward can become unattractive to the CV, because: - they are ALREADY on fire... (and Indomitable cannot put torps in them...) - they are almost dead, and teammates are swatting away at them; - so there is no point trying to set a permafire... better find some loner at the rear... set him on perma-fire and profit to the max... You are right about the last thing though, the more forward a ship is the sooner it is dead.

    Indomitable. Just plain bad.

I think you are right at some points, he'll get better. But also, if he says it is crap I tend to believe him... Because he is a really really good CV player. He'll know when a ship is just crap or any good. I know what Implacable is like. If somebody that is AN EXPERT at most CVs says the Indomatable is worse.... yes it is MOST LIKELY VERY CRAP.
  7. BLUB__BLUB

    Indomitable. Just plain bad.

Yup. That is what happens in weekends. Average game you get 80k. Next one, it is a ROFLSTOMP and lasts 5 minutes, you get 20k. And those happen a lot, more and more. Pulls down the average across all games. In a GOOD game I'll get 100k+ with Ark Royal. 80K average therefore is impressive, but must be done during the week - so less weekend warriors. However looking at his Enty... 80k is not much, for HIM, in a T8 CV. WR is not a thing that you can influence with a CV, usually (some can... mostly those that have good torps + Ap bombs = alpha damage). Let's take Ark Royal as an example (my most played CV). High damage games in Ark Royal are usually a loss - I make high damage because the reds come to me. It does not give WR. If they are fleeing, well, I have to get to them... really slow. Not much damage. Also, DoT needs... time. But... we win. AND preferably for large damage it needs kinda stupid teammates, if they blap the BB you just set a permafire on, well... Just check my kills on it, it is pathetic. When you fly in to finish off a ship... you spot it for at least half the way. Mostly that ship gets blapped before I can do it. But still, Ark Royal is strong - as I'll outdamage the red CV and end up way higher position in the teamscore than him. Just can't carry crap-all. If team decides to throw it, nothing you can do because you have no alpha-strike capability.. As you see Bear got some divvies in there, that helps a LOT with WR. My WR is around 50%. I think that 79% WR is impressive, yes. But I also think he can judge better than we if it was him or his teammates being the factor. What I have seen is that Indomitable has alpha strike capacity zero. When I meet it in Kaga, it ends up bottom - if my team wins or loses doesn't matter. I reckon @Bear_Necessities qualifies it as BAD because he knows.
  8. BLUB__BLUB

    Indomitable. Just plain bad.

Well dunno about that 79%WR but have seen he has a div-mate... However, 80K is what I do in a reasonable game... in a T6CV, and even in a fail-div getting T9. If I'd get reasonable teammates (or div up...) usually that IS the average. In Ark Royal... So, how good is 80K average for unicum player? Maybe it's just honest. I do not feel like any DoT-type CV can influence WR at all. When it all goes downhill there's not much you can do, really - unlike in CVs that have hard-hitting torps and AP bombs. All Indomitables I have seen so far were absolutely crud. Last in team, or maybe two places up. And I am not THAT good...
  9. BLUB__BLUB

    Indomitable. Just plain bad.

The thud and rebound from the decks would give huge FPS problems... (if they have the same pen...). I've seen a few Indomitables around while playing with my new Kaga. Poor buggers... Actually I have Implacable and Lexi... and I do not find Kaga rockets bad... Well maybe I'm in for a surprise on Hakathingy we'll see. It's a matter of throwing enough shite on the wall, really. Sometimes it sticks. And when it does, it usually does stick good. As in burn the sucker down completely.

    CV Rework Discussion

YES, but mostly it has failed in YOUR opinion and also in a lot of others opinion. And I ALSO THINK you are correct and it is largely a fail. But WG doesn't think so, as the Potatoes are "kept busy flying & FF-ing around", even if it is uselessly/mega-low damage. And we have also seen how they fixed that "low damage" at T4... ---> They could have fixed the really wrong things in RTS just as easy. They chose not to, and to come with the current "PS4 look". I like the way CV-play looks now better (and for me, it is a LOT less buggy...) but that's just "taste" and I agree with you that problems aren't solved at all. In reality though they didn't fix any problems, more like, hey there is a few loose planks in that shed, so it leaks, set it on fire, no more loose planks... And then they built a new shed, out of concrete and forgot the whole ff-ing roof, so it leaks even worse. But... no more lose planks....

    CV Rework Discussion

Yes, as you explained this was because auto-drop allowed them to get at least some damage in. Which they now fail to do, as they have to aim (provided they survive the FLAK in the first place). (so, the old rusty broken washing machine at least got some laundry half-done.... but the new broken one shines so brightly...) Exactly. I think he means "WG point of perception" there... AVERAGE damage is OK.... now go to gulag.

Well some are just "natural"and some have to learn.... I'm kinda the same I hope, though I have 320 games in Ark Royal (and counting) 3rd most games in EU... In a regular game, say lasting 15 minutes, I do 80-90K, sometimes >100k. Some games though... get ROFLSTOMPED in <5 minutes. Not much you can do about it and also you get zilch damage. Playing weekends doesn;t help much either... I guess it shows, as in Ryujo I have 25 games and 75%WR... I'll learn and GitGud... And now, on to the IJN line, shame they do not have a T6 premium CV. Ah well. So (tips for GitGud appreciated): This is certainly true, I can't even carry a T5 game in Ark Royal - as it needs time to do damage. The best it does in a 20 minute game where the enemy is pushing our base, and my team is fighting backwards. I can just hammer them as they come to me. Still have to hope RNGesus loves me and my team doesn't insta-kill that damn BB I just set 3 perma-fires on. Someday though I'll break that 200k barrier... someday...

I get poor WR with Ark Royal too, since the only way to make 'em really sink is with torps. If you don't have torps, good luck getting kills on anything except DDs really. (though I prefer to dump torps on anything including DDs).

Not so, Graf Zeppy has Stuka in the picture. I don't think it has them in game. Pity, really. Oh wait. In shop it now has the FW-TA. Not here though: https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/File:Graf_Zeppelin_wows_main.jpg

It also has effect on the planes, although minimal. When they're unspotted they are not shot at. I fail to see though which ship has 9-10km AA... (even Mino has 7km or so)

    CV Rework Discussion

Well this is the only point I sort of disagree with you. In RTS the potato CV was just shut down by the better CV. Now the potato CV is shut down by the FLAK (his inability to avoid it). This is true - and I agree. But IMO what was meant by WG is not "shut down from being effective". What is meant, is they are shut down from any action at all. RTS they would get deplaned and be a floating piñata. Now they can at least still feed planes to whatever they like... Ya know, you think WG wants the CV-player to be effective - deplaned RTS CVs of course weren't effective. Neither is a potato Reeework CV, due to FLAK, but at least he "keeps having something to do to keep him entertained". And I think EXACTLY THAT is what WG meant to achieve. As in the washing machine: yes it is better. The new one looks like nice and shiny. True they are both scrap, but at least you now have new shiny looking scrap. You can still show off your shiny new useless washer to the girlfriend.

Sure can. Imagine a Currywurst with 5x the amount of secondaries. Or Conqkek with twice the range and twice the fire-chance.

Also, remember T6 maps aren't that big... with 15km detection. You have to move rearward ASAP or they'll spot you as soon as they cap. So better run it on AR... and to do fat damage on that one, yes you need to get REALLY close. I dunno to what grade it is OP, have no doubt though that it probably is OP. Like, yeah you get one less foot to stamp on the enemy, but we make sure it is elefant-sized foot. It is hard to miss with that size foot, also there is nothing else besides that foot, makes it depend on RNG almost 100%.

It MIGHT just be true for the average player. You know them: The ones that cannot avoid FLAK, that can't aim bombs even if RNGesus loves the crap outta them... They just very well might do better than with Enterprise, as when the play is dumbed down even the stupid get good.

I'd still say 1400x81.28 is a greater threath than 100x82.0 (chance/risk management) Also, not that worried.... (as I usually play T6 and have just started on Ryujo... only 85% WR or so...) And doubting if I'll meet those 2 that have more games on Ark Royal than me...

I use the concealment for the RN CVs, as with Ark Royal still 12.4 km remains after that.

The thing is you guys always argue about skill. I have no doubt they are higher skilled than you (and me). However seems to me you're doing fine, I'd have a hard time beating you when I meet you on the reds. Then again... I'm quite sure they'd just be laughing when they see "reasonable capable" dudes like you or me on the reds... Which doesn't mean that you and me aren't totally OP as we'd still obliterate 75% of the reds we meet. Just not 90%. I doubt if they can make this one work "much better than usual" though, because it is very much stupid-simple. Next up, T10 premium which has just 1 button. I'd say cruiser slayer, there's not enough DDs in a game to get 2.2k average. Even if you get 4, kill them all and have a win maybe get 1.6k. I guess @El2aZeR got one from a Christmas container already...
  24. 7.5k doubloons is €25,-- so it isn't that it costs 200€. 6K for a worse Alaska, indeed. So sure I could have it for about ~€20 or so, but the question is, would it be worth it? Not for me. It would be a €20 Cleveland Steamer.

Try tot do it "AR style". I drop first load HE-bombs pretty fast, and then turn away immediately. See if he uses DCP, if he does hang around... after 20secs drop again, this time "last moment". Make sure to do it attack from the rear and go lengthwise. All the bombs will hit (sometimes I have 3 fires....). Almost 19pt captain, too.
