Exactly. We had a clan pull this trick on us, I killed two-and-a-half with Conqkek. we won. And BTW it was hilarious, too. When we get CV in CB... LOL... the question is, can I find and kill them all in 20 minutes. I think I can. Certainly if they do not have smoke. Rest of the team can go have a beer.
-
Didn't. You just need to read better. You are sort of right, but your point is off in the wrong direction. Make that 2 out of 10, really. Yes. I even got 2 DDs and a cruiser, and half a BB - at some point. However, most CVs really do not. I'm not an unicum, but above average. And MOST CV-players are quite below average. They get killed 3 or 4 out of 10. Survivability rate for Ark Royal is 55%, for Arizona it is 69%. Winrate for Ark Royal is 1% lower, too. No they are not. Even when I have Ark Royal (or the USA CV) DDs are still very much able to cap. I often div up with a DD-main. Granted he is kinda good, but he caps anyway. And he can be sure there will be a red CV if he divs up with my CV. I think it is more that most DDs are far too stupid. There's many many tricks they can play to outsmart a CV player. And if T6 Ark Royal gets two smart T8 DDs I'll have a hard time to kill them. In fact it is easier to plunder some BB, or maybe two. The stupid ones, I just torp them. I do not even need rockets or bombs. And there are far too many yolo-ing DD-players.

Yep, but I just mean compared to their contemporary light cruisers and BBs. Hood was designed as a battlecruiser, but even at the warf the armour (which made her a cruiser) was improved to the level of the QE. So she wasn't even launched with any inferior armour to the BBs.
-
That is also the case in WOWS, but therefore Hood is T7 and Spee a T6. In real life, yes then as well - but Hood was quite a bit bigger than Spee, eh. 47000 tonnes vs 16000 tons. 380mmx8 vs 280mmx6, duh. Quite a difference.

175k coal... legendary commanders, a poll
BLUB__BLUB replied to MrWastee's topic in General Discussion
yeah probably, but I do not see the huuuuge advantage compared to the coal. I'll save up for Thunderer. But if you already have it all, well then get that captain. For me he's no use. BTW no special skills work in CB. -
Graf Spee did very well against the 3 Brits, but I have no doubt the Brits would have won. However Exeter got taken out, and Ajax had only the front turrets left. Good show. 1 vs 1, my bet would be on Spee.

I'd put him on some crappy mid-tier cruiser. Maybe on a CV.... Point is, I never play T10 much except for Clan Battles. And speziulll Zkills do not work there. Except for colored tracers, duh. -
Nope. It was designed as a battle-cruiser (AKA a lighter-armoured, but faster BB), but after WW1 the armour was upgraded so much that Hood had similar armour to the Queen Elizabeths. "her design was reconsidered. Numerous changes were made including most significantly a substantial increase in armour. The thickness of the main armoured belt was raised from 9" to 12" the same as the Queen Elizabeth Class battleships. The reworked design was approved on 4 August 1916. The new Admiral Class battle cruisers were in effect closer in armour protection to the recently built and much acclaimed Queen Elizabeth Class battleships than to preceding battle cruisers." http://www.hmshood.com/history/construct/construction.htm Amen to that - except Spee had to find shelter else the cruisers would probably have won. Also, Spee mostly attacked merchant vessels. The question is who kicked the crap out of who. Yes did. The situation in WOWS bears little resemblance to real life, both in visibility of enemy ships and in the rest. The game is really too arcade to tell if kiting, HE-spamming and island-hugging would work in real life. Yes, and as such, it really falls somewhere in-between.

What do you do when a teammate actively refuses to play the game?
BLUB__BLUB replied to Glig69's topic in General Discussion
Yesterday I had one that actually sent torps at me, fater namecalling in chat and everything else. because he wanted my CL to scout for his DD instead of setting fires to BBs and such. Ok so I set him on fire, as I have complained often about such types and WG always says "the game will punish him". Which is by going pink. So I went pink. He got what he deserved. Next one will get it again. BTW team thought I did well there. They were all sick of him. I even had some assistance, got +2 karma. -
Simply put, heavy cruisers are BBs in size, often with almost just as big guns, and larger than light cruisers because they had to carry the heavy guns/ammo. But they were just as flimsy as the light cruisers, just a lot faster than BBs. So yeah they were: -fragile like light cruisers; - a bit slower, less agile; - easier to hit because they were bigger. The main reason to make them is you could have more heavy guns for a lower price. They could outdamage the light cruisers, which they could not outrun. And they could outrun the BBs, which they could not withstand. If they meet a light cruiser that they cannot outdamage... or that gets lucky... well yeah. And if they cannot avoid the BB.... heavy cruiser will soon be a submarine.
-
Well, sometimes they do. Because if you want to be GOOD as a CV you need to go forward and not hide at the rear of the map. No risk, no glory. So, my CV end up getting whacked about 2 out of 10 games. Actually that's 1 out of 10, because that 2 means that sometimes a DD or two try to snipe CV. SOMETIMES they get me, usually I get them. Which means they: - didn't spot for their team; - their team doesn't get any caps; - their team basically and (f)actually did not have DDs. So even if they get me, it usually is a WIN for my team. And a ROFLSTOMP, well yes. Because we got all the caps. And I didn't even have to go looking for their DDs. Sometimes I just run (CVs are quite fast) and farm their BBs anyway...

Depends if you are top tier or not. Sure with Ark Royal when I am in a T5/T6 game I can do more than when uptiered to T8. But, the reds ALSO have a Cv and the same thing goes for that one, except usually they are worse off (potato CV...). Even so... I wish I was THAT good, but you cannot solo-carry in most CVs, as they usually depend (a lot) on DoT. There is no such thing as a big dev-strike on a BB... As such, my average in Ark Royal is ~45K, which is quite good, but really far off compared to my "usual match". As in an "average" match I'll do ~70K, and a good one (20 minutes, no ROFLSTOMP, fought hard, win or lose no matter) approaching 100K. The only reason my average is not 70-80K is that... lots of games end up in a 5-minute-ROFLSTOMP where I get 20-30K. So, what is an average match really? I'd say 15min and over, with teams that actually engage. I do NOT mean 10-12 minutes of camping it out and then a hughe whackamackablappaboinky fest. TBH the higher the tier, the more often JUST THAT happens. Same in T8 Kaga, and just about any other T6-T8-T10 CV. But CV's are not the main factor here. I get the same thing in a BB - though I CAN influence the battle a bit more. No matter if there is a CV in game or not. In cruisers I definitely CANNOT influence the battle that much, I noticed though I CAN when divving up with a DD. My guess is a DD+CA division is more powerful than a sole BB. BB+DD doesn't give the same synergy, somehow.

Oh goody, a Lollibote. I already intended to get it, and now I sure will. 2x paper won't matter indeed. -

Rofl. Well then I guess I'll find out what they did to make it T6. -

...just a bit faster firing, probably. TBH that's allright with me, I think they're plenty good. -

Yes but the idea is the same, sort of. Exeter has nice derp guns. I'm curious what London will have. -

Yeah, in higher tiers the guns just get a bit quicker. But indeed it's only the guns. Like a Leander with this: -

I love Exeter... because I have a regular divvy who loves (US smoke...) DDs... 75%WR. When on my own, well I don't love it so much (47%WR). -

Oh but that's not a heavy cruiser. It is a just-a-bit-overweight cruiser. -
I was quite amazed, usually they are gimmicked crud botes if they get "hyped". But this is actually worth something in CB.

What would that mean then if I take win from Kremlin in Conqkek?

Also, I have fallen for this trick; I knew DD was around somewhere and saw smoke. Put fighters over smoke. But never saw the Dd again. Duh Turns out he put smoke and then left the area... I was watching his empty smoke... Lucky me I am smart enough to just put fighters and then go elsewhere. I have seen CV players circle and circle... and then go off their rocker in chat... (yes I play DD sometimes, too) -
AKA better have a half-potato in Conqkek than have a total potato in Kremlin? But that would mean it is my skill...
-
You are probably correct, but I see most Kremlins being of no use at all though. They wander around at the rear hitting nothing, and in the end they just get hunted down and rammed or torped. Only a few I have seen used well, and those are the times we usually lose (generally, we are potato... so it's not just the Kremlin then). I have killed a few Kremlins and Yammies in the meanwhile. Of course I'd like to claim it is my skills, but... I guess it is either the severe lack of skills from enemy or Conqkek just being stronger than they thought. Also... the amount of broadsiding cruisers that think it can only shoot HE... One more thing it does is hunt DD. Keep the nose in, a few torps will be no problem. After you spot them make them into submarines with HE. We had a clan turn up with 6 Klebbies, I finished three of them. The most surprise to me this CB are Venezia and (yes, really) Puerto Rico. Especially PR just refuses to get citadelled.

We run two teams, Alpha and Beta. The Alpha team is where the jocks end up (hey sometimes it includes me in Salem, so... they're not THAT much jocks). Alpha-team gets "hand-selected" by the (very good and experienced) SC, so that is our pack of sheep (some wolves...) lead by the upper wolf. The Beta team is usually "register and play", and hey, sometimes they even have ME for an SC... WUUUTTTT nobody using Conqkek... why not? Insane heal and it can also shoot AP (which people forget). It is hilarious. Here's how that goes... LOL. If anyone knows how to make it "playable" like youtube, let me know. Because this is kinda hilarious. I sent one DD off to cap, and then we all mashed them. Somehow both teams are in storm league... https://replayswows.com/replay/80459#stats
