  2. That's the problem though, the options to do massive damage get more and more, resulting in ROFLSTOMPS. I do not agree on lots of it, but hey. There's soooo much they could have done to make CVs better/bearable. But I can still do stuff like this, even with two CVs... because I know what they do and how to avoid them.
  3. The thing is, they ff-ed up the mechanics - and then changed the damage, so apparently when it doesn't put out too much damage on average, it's fine. IMO that is like adding termites, you restrict/limit their number, and you take care they do not eat too much. Meh. Doesn't mean it is all fine. And how much fun will it be for the 'termites'. Especially when you raise the "service cost"for CVs. Frankly I like Ark Royal because of the challenge (and at T6), I do not like playing the other CVs much. I got Kaga which is T8, sure can do enough damage with it (it is sort of insane), but fun, well, less than Ark Royal really. The reason I will grind them all upto T10 and git gud somehow, is because WG will put them in CB, some day.
  4. Agreed on that. RTS just didn't work for players like me,. I had all kinds of crappy stuff (as in: not working or borked). But i do agree with @Europizza they could have done a LOT better. Well... the thing they are good at is speed, which saves them from normal ships. Planes are juist a lot faster. So... easy prey. I think the thing that CVs do DoT mostly is kinda crud. yes you can do massive damage (that's the challenge, really). But you cannot influence games because you can;t strike anything hard enough. The only thing you can obliterate is a DD. And there's the problem. If you're a bit crappy CV player, you can ALWAYS go pick on the DDs. The DD players being (well the not-too-good ones anyway) a bit, ehh, "unadapted to CV" also doesn't do them any favors.

    Seconded. Yup. You'll usually find me at T6/T7. Lots of times in Ark Royal, Hood or Arizona, or some (usually RN) cruiser. Must grind some T10s for Clan Battle though, so I guess T8/9/10 are now obligatory. Which is what I'l be doing if you catch me there. I'll not be enjoying it that much, but hey. if I want to be supporting my clan, it must be done. Hell next you might even find me in a DD.

    Well yeah, they have the plane which gives insane range. But that's not exactly "how to play London" though, LOL. But I have no doubt this one will receive a buff sooner or later. Nobody will buy it otherwise, because it does need some "special treatment" in order to work.

    That short range is indeed a problem, the rest though is pretty good. I also have Flint, it has even shorter range at T7. Means you'll have to find ambush-occasions. Or the spots where they all sail along and then go "surprise MF".
  8. Ha that was YOU, undercover. Nope no cigar for me, well it was first time out with London, 30K is not bad for a T6 IMO (in 4 minutes). That should get better when I get used to it. Yeah my @$$ was grass pretty soon, I know that is what happens when you support a push and then no push... I was sure you were gonna get whacked though, we had two cruisers and a DD coming for you in B. But our DD (T8 Asashio) ran in smoke for your T7 Vaquelin, and then the cruisers turned. (Then they went full on attack a BB... LOL). Your guys played smarter than ours.

    I have no doubt you'd find it irrelevant anyway. Go phish, or play some CV. You'll notice why and how DDs get blapped. Might learn something. But for sure you're not gonna learn at T4 where they double-buffed US and IJN CV.
  10. Well, we had ALL THREE caps... but a few less ships. We were ahead on points. So what they should have done is dig in and defend. But hey... they went after them.
  11. Guess what. Got my London and met @Cheradanine, and he took the final bite out of my @$$. Good ship that London though, 30K at first attempt. My team did well at first, but then they tried to "win harder". Which of course backfired... Well, weekend has started. GG mate and nice to see some forumites in the game today.
  12. Today I saw @Sir_Grzegorz in co-op, he finished them off nicely. Somehow the @Sir... doesn't work. Ah well. And just saw @Excavatus with his THESO clanmate. They did very well but they had some potatoes, including one that had no manners, told everyone to shut up, then sailed his BB into a cap and got fried. Was doing my last bits of the RN cruiser grind (so was not in CV in either of the games). Got fireproof and Dreadnought (duh, Conqkek...) but needed Confederate. Duh. Tanked damage nicely though, which is one of the missions. London coming soon.
  13. Well yeah, then somehow there is a version of WOWS for PS4 and that has no CVs, LOL. However the RTS version was kinda wonky, for me it was unplayable. The current version is. Though you are right it is very much dumbed down. I do enjoy a challenge - so I have challenged myself to become "very good" (LOL) at Ark Royal. To do quite well in it is a challenge - slow planes, so you really need to get a move on. The other CVs I do not enjoy that much, I can see lots of room for improvement. And I do not meen "damage" because that is not hard to do.
  14. Not really, in my Hood I thought "well nice I'm gonna get a fat plane score". And the torpedoes that they managed to drop, would be waayyyyyy off, because of "Def AA scaredypants". But I agree the Reework didn't make CVs OP, because they already were. Adding the rockets was just.. .well... a stupid idea, really. Same as HE-bombs. Clustered no less, sometimes. Enjoy DoT without too much influence on the game.
  15. Ah well, you can 100% and I usually can, but I'd say about 50% can't do it. You have seen it happen and I have seen it happen.
  16. So can the CV, once somebody (I dunno, maybe the other CV?) spots him, it is just a big fat flimsy cruiser. Probably like you missed mine, blocko. You know what, you're too full of it to even worth arguing with, so stick with it and whine. I'll think of you when I kill some more DDs.
  17. Well, and then there's DDs that launch torpedoes from 20km and borderhugging BBs, and cruisers shooting over islands and all that, too. Man it must be a hard diametrical life for you...
  18. The thing is, I'd go for all DDs having multi-purpose guns. And make the dispersion on rockets such that they'd be as wide as a whole BB. Introduce spotting on minimap only, when CV spots a ship. it's all fixable, but so was RTS. They wanted to get rid of RTS, fine. But what has come back is in some ways just as flawed.
  19. Correct (note the "sarcastic smile", I agree...) They are VERY powerful, but 80% of the playerbase doesn't know how. They end up scoring reasonably because CV last longest, if you hide behind a mountain at distance. Same as some do Ok in a BB, spamming HE from the map border. Mostly they complain about the spotting. Even if the CV-player cannot kill 25% of a DD, his teammates will. Yup. But remember, MM is mirrored - so their team had a CV as well. Mostly the raging goes on because (well... that's RNG...) they get the potato CV. In RTS, the potato would get shut down by fighters, if the red CV was better. in Reeework, the potato gets shut down because he cannot avoid FLAK. It is even easier for the (slightly) better CV than before.

    If you like Queen E and Monarch you are more like me. Monarch was SUCH A RELIEF after the disappointing KGV... Yeah sure it was a firestarter, but soooo flimsy... and the AP sucked heaps. Lion was OK, a bit better than Monarch (which basically gets üpgraded"d guns from Queen E/ Hood). Conqueror is a monster. AP better than Lion, HE is insane, the heal is broken AF...
  21. Well... I see room for improvement... at least that is true, if you have a short game (like mostly in the ROFLSTOMP weekends) you are better off in something else than a CV.

    The thing is, I LOVE the Queen E. What I do is plan ahead and then rotate the whole ship if needed... But I hated the King G that came next. So flimsy, and no AP. Can't pen anything and will be penned by whatever. I even put IFHE on that... so - opinions differ... But I also like the US BBs upto T6, maybe I am weird.

    Well, you do seem doing kinda not too well with a lot of DDs. Is that since the rework? I only have them up to T6. Does that matter? Seems I play more DD than you play CV... I do not play DD much, as my regular divvy almost plays nothing but DDs. He doesn't mind CV (as we usually play CV/DD division). There are tactics against them, and he usually lasts the whole game with his DD and ends up top-three. I can do average with DDs, but I do not like them - I only play them if they ask me to do it. And yes CVs are often the last alive - and then they get hunted down. Last alive is often the borderhumping BB, too. So? The further away you are, the less effect you can have. That goes for BB but also for CV. Maybe even more so. It doesn't mean they are OP. Anything that humps borders will last longer. But for BBs it means less damage, because less hits. For a CV it means damage reduction. Lots of it if you have one with slow planes like Ark Royal. The Cv that stays back the furthest, is actually the most shitty CV. Therefore this "survival rate" doesn't really mean it is the best or most OP ship. For example, I do not see many Smolensks live that long... and that is OP and broken AF. I agree that one CV is plenty enough though. Double-CV is no fun at all, not even for the CVs. It means indeed the DDs are almost perma-spotted. So is the rest of the ships though. Since the CVs will then try to farm as many as possible, nobody is safe anywhere. And yes the DD is the easiest to kill, so they go first. Only a good DD player will last the whole game. Well OK a borderhugger with 20km torps might also last whole game. I see lots of those, too. Might be lucky that WOWS-player usually do not work together... Stupid an yolo-ing DD players have been there as long as I play the game, and they always will be. Most DDs are indeed far too stupid. Or inexperienced. Whatever. I dunno if you are stupid, and not saying so. I'm saying most DDs are stupid because most head straight for the cap and sit there in smoke. It doesn't work anymore, if it ever did at all. Maybe you refuse to adapt or simply do not find it fun. That's valid, as it is your opinion. That's also a valid reason IMO not to play DD. However I see lots of DDs that DO adapt to CVs in game. The difference between one that knows what to do vs CV and one that doesn't is usually very obvious. Yes I can kill the ones that are savvy. But it takes me just as much time as killing a BB. Since CVs have high service-cost, I'd rather kill BBs - unless the DD gets annoying, is the main threath or something. And yes those that go straight to cap are just inviting the sharks - if it's not the CV, then a radar cruiser. I don't play DD because I am too old and slow, and the kinda frantic play gives me a headache. Besides that, it is quite rare that I play alone (only when WG gives stupid grinds for something) - usually I play in a division. But if I play DD sure I'm not rushing to cap and be a sitting duck there. And if I go into a cap I watch what happens. I'm not gonna cap in IJN DD if there is a US DD near or contest it. If you last longer, it will be better. But the REEEE REEEE from Dd-players... well... they wanted RTS CV dead, and they got it. Not saying the Reeeeework is perfect, far from it. In some things it is worse. WG could have done better. But DD drivers can do a lot better, too.

    I know, that's why I'm grinding for it. The rest of it is similar to Exeter. However London is a premium, and none of the rest can smoke AFAIK.
