You haven't got Smolly eh? That thing is quite slow... enough speed but agility, well no. If they use terrain you'll know it else it is the CV players fault. Get them later, then. Same if there is IKEA-DD there: you should/could have known. The minimap works for CV-players too. You do not HAVE TO kill them, as is the thing in Clan Battle. If they are too difficult, find some other victim. yes, but that is a CV-player mistake. YOU choose to attack them or not. Minimap dude... minimap... if you expect THEM to keep track of the CV-planes, then YOU can keep track of where that IKEA-DD likely went... I think it is more like, I can hit all three torps with Ark Royal - but not all 4 with Kaga. So yes it has more torpedoes, but they are useless, sort of. There is simply not enough ship to hit, and this is the case with DDs as well. Which CV is best, depends on playstyle and what teams you get. Granted the IJN (AP-bombs, so hello Enterprise) Cvs are much more influential on winrate. Some CVs you can't carry matches in unless you are really really good, or lucky. Also consider this: Yes and that's natural, because they never will get uptiered. T8 CVs can get +2, and they still need to be able to do something there. T10 CVs do not. So they do NOT need to be stronger than T10. @OVanBruce this is why - but T10 Cvs are definitely a bit stronger than T8. But NOT like T6--> T8 --> T10. That last "gap" is much smaller. Uhhh... and well, a side note: I would not compare Midway to Enterprise though as that might be even stronger. That is true, but it is the same with all other DoT CVs. Or all IJN Cvs, depending what you prefer. I grinded Shokaku "real quick" because wanted Haku (for CB), so once spaded I didn't play it much. I'm sure once I go for it it will outperform Ryujo in WR.

Just limit to 1 CV, nerf toepedo damage, and that should do it. BTW I wonder why Hermes didn't get two torpedoes.
-
I think all CVs should be more like that. It is actually a challenge to do well in it.
-
I think that is just risk vs reward. DD killing should be even less XP. Because they are meagre and too easy to kill. Except perhaps the IKEA DDs but even these are not that much, really.
-
What preparations? Granted if they are very very smart they'll see me coming. Maybe they'll even use sector or (if they have it) DEF AA. Then I'll just trick it. And return 5 secs after it has gone into cooldown. Granted I usually ff it up, that is the difference between me and somebody like El2azer. He'll do it 100% perfect and drink tea in the meantime as well. Overlapping AA is overrated. All that happens is the FLAK gets multiplied. And FLAK is 99% avoidable. I suppose you know that, too, since you play CVs. They also do less damage. Have slower planes. I'd say you know how it is done, your stats are higher than mine. Why are you whining for tier 10? I find that easier than others. Main thing: you never get uptiered.
-
I know mate, but I usually play weekends... every other game is either a lemmingtrain or a ROFLSTOMP. Else I'd have 80k average in Ark Royal. And yes it is really that bad. Five-minute-game and then you hear "you are the last hope".
-
I do not manage to do that perfectly, however some like El2azer and Bear_Necessities can do it that way. I'll not attack those ships unless I have to, as they are a high risk/reward thing. But then they are not really a problem. I'll not lose a whole squad nor be depleted for the rest of the game. For example, Smolly sitting in smoke, next to a Mino and IKEA-DD. Just use the torps... For example, DM sitting next to mountain with a few buddies . Come from behind mountain with AP bombs. Or use torps at longer distance. Actively dodging ships are no problem either. Split them up. Same as blobs. Works even with T8 Cv vs T10 MM. Kaga, Lexington. OK Audacious not so much (...LOL). They're not immune to fire or flooding, however they have auto-repair...
-
That's not as much upto the CV player as you might think. I often get those teams where it is best to hide behind a mountain, because that way at least you don't get blapped by the OTHER lemmingtrain... What "other flank"...? Oh you mean that single Yolo-DD that capped, found nothing on other end and now comes after the CV...
-
Better believe it. I have Mino, Salem and Smolensk. but when I meet one of the forumites in his CV... Usually goes: hi BLUB! KABOOM... Bye BLUB... ^That said usually CV-players are not a problem at all. Because they are same as others... My Mino murders all their planes, in Smolly I go hunt the CV... I play CV myself, and have no problem fail-divving my (t^) Ark Royal into T9. And what do I do there? Well, kill a Friesland, of course. Granted it wasn't the smartest Friesland... Even worse, a "reasonably savvy" CV-player like me murders them too. T10 CV vs those? Not much of a problem for me. But indeed players like El2azer - muhahahaha no problem at all. People do not adapt their behaviour to CV. In Clan Battles they do, CV means you have to adapt. If you do not, you lose. CB players seem to be much better at adapting. Even if those CV players usually are very very good, they still can't win all.
-
Yes, similar to CV-attack: - make yourself the furthest away, stay hidden, use island (he cannot drop torps that short...), stick with a teammate... I play CV that is how I know how they work. I usually get a lot less attacked than others. AA only deals with stupid players. Like in cruisers, where the "armour" only deals with stupid BB players... There ARE ways... but upto a point. And THAT poi nt is why CVs are broken: If CV wants you dead, you are dead, and there is no way you can kill him back. the only thing you can do/hope is "clip/damage/disable his turrets", sort of. Yes. However you can mitigate CV, and if you are determined you can also DO SOMETHING about it. Like: hunt the CV. You will need more than one Yolo-DD though and it will take teamwork. And well, there's the problem, really.
-
Same thing as when you get somebody that is very good in a HE-spam cruiser, and you are in a BB. You'll be quite crispy after a while and will not be able to get him. If he's stupid though, well --> BLAP. One difference: T6CVs are quite reasonably "balanced", damage-wise and "on average". Still broken OP though, which is why good players can't be countered AT ALL. Like a good player in a Smolenks... he just harvests everything and craps all over. Plus the thing about Dallas, it used to have great AA, now it is not "outstanding" at all anymore. Which sucks. But when you know it, you do not expect it to "harvest planes". Because nothing does, really.
-
If you had a savvy (T6) CV player yes he can pull it off, in certain CVs. Not of he is average. But if the CV was T8, well, any nutter can do it. But the hing is, the AA-revisions have left AA-ships like Dalllas a bit.... stale. IMO they should have much much better AA. Because this is crappy indeed.

nah man, against bots you'd get 70%. These MUST BE real players. -

..play a few co-op battles, you know they are real people. Because the bots are less insane. I'm sure you heard it before.... -

Sounds more like T6... -
It will, if lucky, do that once. Well maybe some are very lucky. And indeed after that less because of saturation and because people angle. Usually 8-10k or so, unless you are perfectly angled. This is the thing though. You cannot angle perfectly against 2 or 3 Venezias. So the first one takes 15, next one takes 15 from the other side, and so on. And even one can hit you while they were, upto then, unspotted - easily. But yes that is indeed the mechanics abuse in CB. No different with other ships. Each played to the maximum strength (or max troll, if you like to call it that). I'd say keep it and next CB change the meta again - 1CV, 1BB and 1 DD obligatory, or something. AH well then they just take 2 Stalins and 2 Venezias to go with it (LOL).

Shame, most likely...

Increase in high-tier CVs would be there, but they increased the service cost... to a point you have to do A LOT of damage to not bleed credits. But... low risk, low reward. You have to spam A LOT to make good on the service cost, and most CV-players can't do it. Yes and DDs are still the most vulnerable, as they were. High risk, high damage (any DD can sink a BB with a set of torps...). I enjoy Ark Royal - as you have slow planes, you HAVE TO move the CV around and watch how the game evolves. In Kaga, for example, not so much. Planes are very fast. Also, it has such a lot of torpedo spam/bomber spam that it is hard to fail. Avoiding FLAK is also quite easy. The main thing is that FLAK has a pre-determined pattern and where that pattern spawns is DETERMINED BY the speed/direction of the planes. Imagine the challenge... the challenge is to avoid the FLAK that YOUR OWN PLANES have created... well... I'm not sure if I understand that sentence. But they DID level out the IJN TBs and all that. Granted they made a mess of AA. But well. Yes that's the thing. Everybody wants it to change in their FAVOUR. Every time though an unspotted DD manages to sink my BB, well... And everytime an (unspotted) BB manages to blap my cruiser, well... But when you do GOOD in this game it means you SMACK the other guy. That is what they forget.

Good things said there, seems you understand how to dodge. But damn hard to read because of the typing. -

BLUB__BLUB replied to _not_so_nice_'s topic in General Discussion
That's true twice. Because AA (even DEF AA + "O"zone) doesn't do much damage, and the FLAK is controlled by the planes from the CV player (direction/speed is measured). -
Does, but then again, forum rules say do not start new thread for something that is available...
-
For me, he even predicts future submarines... when I kill a cruiser.

IMO they still ignore them, and consider them only a major nuisance. On the other had the CV gets to damage-farm relatively easy. No skill required. Only RNG to take care of, the main defence is even plane-guided... Instead there should be a higher level of gameplay required. Like, ships have to REALLY take care of their AA. Not some automated action. And CVs should REALLY be challenged. But the reward should be MEGA damage possible. Bingo. My challenge with CVs is to try and farm mega-damage. Which is why I like Ark Royal, it's a challenge. Just playing any CV, unfortunately, is not. It is the most simple of things. -

BLUB__BLUB replied to _not_so_nice_'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah does. I often fail-div my Ark Royal into T9 (haven't managed T10 yet). But it is not a problem. You can harvest plenty with limited range. Lucky for the ones "that got away"... But this is the thing, really. WG should have made planes less fast. Then a CV player would need to move the CV. Which he now does not really need to. Sure, he can - if it delivers shorter attack times, so he can farm more damage. But he'd better not, for example Ark Royal has 15k detection range --> best hide it behind a mountain. Because if you get spotted, there is no way to defend the bloody thing. -
IMO there is no damage-problem, on the average. But there is a problem that ships cannot DO anything to counter/deny. Like DD vs cruiser - the DD can smoke (then gets killed because radar/hydro), or run. But he can also fight back: shoot, torpedo, spot that cruiser for his buddies. If a DD gets focused by a CV... there is not much he can do, except smoke (run, twitch). He cannot even run much, planes are much faster. Yes his AA kills planes (muhaahaha well, maybe one or two...). But that is not any action he takes himself or can perform. It is mostly RNG, direction of shooting even led by the planes from the CV. Also, it would be like only being able to shoot at the turrets if he got attacked by a cruiser... Yes I understand DDs. T6 is probably the most "balanced". Under that, CV is too simple (and there's too many). Above T6, CVs get more power but also cost a lot (service cost) so only the better players remain. And those know how to avoid any "risks". AA direction is determined by the planes... that are controlled by the CV-player... Yes if you steer them a certain way, that AA will not hit you. So... no problem...for a good CV player.
