I'm not THAT good, but "only in certain conditions" is true. Let me make it clear though, I can kill off a Friesland (t9) with Ark Royal (t6 with T4 planes...), no problem. That is the question indeed. But the thing is indeed "at what cost"and "to achieve what"? Ask yourself: If he is clustered... is he still a main target... or is he not? Sure I can hit him, but indeed at what cost. Say that Friesland, if he is in the middle of a bunch of others, what is his priority? He is no danger, he is not spotting, and he is not capping. he is no more important than the others around him. So.. then he is just a meagre XP thingy with no importance. I'll go look for that fat BB elsewhere... But if they stay clustered... I'll come back and throw in some torps from a bit of distance... 1. Isolated ships are indeed piñatas. But... why would I (want to) for example kill that AFK BB that is floating at enemy base... 2. You'll not lose a full squad on a DD unless he has friends. And if he has friends, he is not the problem. He might BECOME the problem.. but unlikely. 3. Wel... if the planes are spotted, AA will GO THROUGH MOUNTAIN. So, that is not exactly right. But, sometimes you can indeed get that ship easier. Remember that there is also the thing, where will your planes end up after the attack. These ARE the facts. And there are some people that think they are different. But - and you have realized very well that these things are conditions - a CV can indeed kill every ship. Provided that... he wants/needs it, in the first place. So? That's a general statistic, for all the ships played. Also... I usually play in weekend... and you have no idea how old I am... If you want to talk CV, well then better use this site: https://wows-numbers.com/player/552033702,BLUB__BLUB/?type=solo and https://wows-numbers.com/player/500575344,Figment/?type=solo It will show that my WR (after 42 games) in Ryujo is 64.29% and yours is 62.16%.... (37 games) in solo games. You have no division games at all. i'm no unicum, just kinda savvy and IMO "plenty good enough" as I usually do better (dmg/xp/position) than the red CV. But I'm no unicum, far from it. If you want unicum: https://wows-numbers.com/player/526953200,El2aZeR/ I see total 58 games in T4 Langley (sealclubbing...) and 37 in Ryujo. You're not that savvy. No you don't perform better, you just think you do because you don't know the relevant stats. Want CV? You only played two. Your best CV is Ryujo and I outperformed you by 2% (solo). Also... 526 battles in Ark Royal has taught me how much teamplay there is to be expected. BTW that's 99 battles in a 3-man-division with Ark Royal, WR almost 70%. Yes WR gets better when you work together. It shows the difference between teamwork and no-teamwork. That is what you think and very well might be true if you have experience and play at T4. yes you can kill the Cv at T4. Me and my divvy did that a few times, when he started the grind for Moskva last week. We had to go from T1... so yes we went through T4. and killed some CVs. Because... they are also seals, and get clubbed. But after the BS there is good as well: The thing is, yes you CAN kill any ship, but would you want to? Nothing new. It was also pointed out that too much time wasted on a DD, means that DD did good for his team. Difference is that if the CV is alive he'll spawn new planes. Dead DD doesn't spawn torps and don't cap and don't spot. Yes it is a good thing to do (but should be rewarded more). However most players hate it, as they are the victim. Well some can't do it. Then again... some can't even torp a parked BB from 5 km.

@Excavatus seconded here. Never mind new ships and German Cvs and all that, when is THE GAME actually going to evolve a bit? It is like, you have a bag of potato chips, yes you can have more tastes. But what about brining on a bag of popcorn, cheetos, nachos? -

In that case I'd just randomise it, the difference in team-total-WR is zero. And my money would also be on the team that all have 50%. But I doubt if it will be a ROFLSTOMP. Will at least last 10 minutes... Likely, but since I don't remember the name... gonna be a helluva lot of sorting. And well it's not like it is that rare, I'll just screenshot the next one. Every night I play I have at least one or two total ROFLSTOMPS. -

I would love that, and have large areas of open sea. Also, dump the "circles". make them a harbour or island group or whatever. And have convoys (that have to be protected/raided) move between them. WG have showed they can do it in operations, now let's see it done in PvP. -

Damn I should have screenshotted the 3,5 minute RFOLSTOMP yesterday. We win, mega 1500 damage from Zara, LOL. @Excavatus see we have no fun. Yes, if it gets matched totally even then indeed everybody is 50%WR in the end. It doesn't need to do it 100% though. Just count the total average WR, or DMG. Then shift a certain number of players. Higher tier = less players shifting. Means T10 you get NO PLAYERS shifted. No it will not. Say you'd get 3 unicums (75%) each side, but one side has 9 potatoes (35%) and one side has 9 average (50%) players. That means the better side a has +200%WR if all WR are added, over the other one. Some of these, lets say 3, will get shifted around until the average DMG or WR per side is a bit more equal. Yes you could shift all the unicums... in which case you'd play with 6 unicums + 6 potatoes. You'd have 6 equally skilled teammates instead of 3. -
I'll just save the steel, but indeed as @GarrusBrutus says, if you do not have any interesting ships for steel, well. Then you might as well spend it on an ugly camo. Turn off the visuals and it will look normal (to you). Same as I have one of those ARP ships, it is completely pink (LOL) but I do not have to look at it...

Well, you are correct there - except that random players do not have teamplay. Divisions do. But for the random pleb, this is just no option at all. But maybe you already know, depending on teammates... No offence but I'd like to see you try. 75% of games that I play CV they do not even have a chance to try. In the rest, maybe 5% are successful to even get near. And then I kill them anyway most of the time. It means my team potatoed enough for any reds to get through, also means I potatoed not to notice it, and then after that I have to potato more or get (very) unlucky. Not really unless the CV-player is a huge pleb. CV can turn at last moment or pick different target. Maybe you have a 10 second warning that the reciever of airborne presents is YOU. But no longer. And yes there are ways to mitigate damage, but none to escape. I play CVs often enough and I'm quite savvy with them. But I'm not "very good" and really no unicum. Buit really if CV wants a ship dead, it is dead. Even if that ship is Smolensk and the CV is T8. And not much he can do about it except postpone the inevitable. But, what is TRUE: most players could do A LOT more against CV, except the usual whine. If they did, a lot more CV-players would not play them anymore. Because at T8 and T10 (and even T6) you need A LOT of damage to break even in a CV.

Yeah but lucky for me you can turn the visuals off. I like "historic" camo and given a choice I'd pick those. I have this one for Furious:

Dunno if that is a flaw of the whole line, certainly if you are spotted at T5/6/7 you are as good as dead meat. Venezia though... met it lots of times in CB now. Can't citadel it with even a Conqkek. Not even at <10km and with Venezia 100% broadside. Can't citadel it with Moskva either, not with Salem. At any distance. Nope no can do. However that Venezia will do 5-15K damage every salvo on whatever one of the above. With CV well you have to be lucky, as it is quite agile and has smoke, too.

I don't know about co-op, IMO doesn't matter what tier you are there. Most important there is to get "the right ship".... AKA do not take anything that wants DoT. But yes there was an official statement somewhere last MM-change, it would keep track of what MM you got. And it was also pointed out that it would only work if you took the same ship for a few games in succession. Which would mean it doesn't work when you put a few co-op games in between. -

This is quite important as most people don't know this. It means if you are doing what most people do, that is: one ship dies - skip - game - enter next battle with another ship ---> then you get FFd. -
Well perhaps I have been lucky so far, the Russian line felt much more tanky. Sure doesn't feel like it to me, have been blapped lots more than with other ships. The steering is noticable better than the Russian line though. Yes, I gathered that much. Usually they get help from friends though. Can't say exactly which ones, usually - point is: if a DD isn't half health, be careful. Because if he survives the first attack you're gonna get some. Usually 2 fires and indeed lots of other dakka incoming. And yeah do not use DC if he is still alive to spot you. Excellent advice. Which is what I do (or try, as I'm not THAT good at all). The only one that disregarded me so far was a Gneisenau, he gave me full broadside and I managed to get three salvos into him. I aimed for the upper belt and the bow, so full pens. He tried to shoot me but I stayed 100% bow-in at ~7km. After a few more salvoes he decided it was not gonna work for him... he moved full speed ahead behind an island. His mistake was he forgot the Italians also have torps... so I torped him when he cam out the other side. Meanwhile I was showing him my behind while in smoke... But usually I get the Emerald effect: hey there's a floating citadel let's shoot it. And unlike Venezia (I can't citadel that with Moskva, or even Conqkek, unless at <5Km range), must say these T6/T7 Italians are quite flimsy and just about every BB seems to want to get a shot in.
-
yes but when grinding you have to (not enough XP). This one though is exceptionally crud, as it is a glass cannon. Ahahah well indeed some painful ones there. Not sure about the dodge. Well yes it manoeuvres well, but takes great damage no matter where it is hit. But yes you reload faster than heavy cruisers. Then again, Zara is not a heavy cruiser... or I might have that wrong. I make sure they don't see them coming... I mean more like, French BBs. Seems to sit standing stil but wooopppwoop they're gone. You do not see them that often really, so, nope. And they usually shoot HE, my guess is it still pens 75% of Zara. Maybe the problem is when I see them I'm usually stil 100% HP so no saturation or anything. But their first shot sets me on fire, then I shoot them (about half dead), have to wait for reload (more fire... ), shoot again (usually dead DD). So what usually happens is I kill the DD (10k damage) but they take half my ship (without their buddies even helping). Assuming they are dead in 2 salvos. So... full HP DD? Better not. Yes staying alive that's the issue. Well I just treat it like a T7 Emerald, so (usually) no problems there. Be seen = sudden death. When the CV spots you, BLAP happens.
-
Well, so far I have the Zara and I just spaded it. Standard it has 14km range (except when using spotter plane). You really can't be doing 14km shots at cruisers, because everything else has more range than you do. And the most important, a faster reload. Zara will not survive a DPM exchange with whatever. ALSO YES you are correct. Higher tier BBs are fair game, too. Problem, they can be fast. But, spamming slow low-tier BBs (or cruisers) at range gets you 2500-5000 (usual vs lucky) per salvo. You get similar when you spam cruisers at range. You'll not get more when shooting at cruisers that are close. Unless you want to show some part of broadside... but you'd better not do it. The upgrade having 16km range is much better |(because then you can spam more from range). And yes the guns are accurate, you really can take half off any DD that comes within 12km or so. Which is around 5K but that DD will do more damage than 5K to you if he sees you, while your guns are reloading... Preferred victims: US BBs, cruisers (gimme a Graf Spee...) sitting at islands and half-health DDs. But that's just my opinion being sort of medium weekend-player.
-
Which is deserved, I find the best use is spam that SAP at BBs (preferably lower tier and sitting still/slow) at range. The lower tiers are glass-long-distance-cannons. Late game you can finish off any DDs that are still around. But if you are detected you are #1 target, anything shot at you will pen. Option: smoke and run. Back to spam stuff from max range. Going in doesn't pay off because your damage output will not rise. But your going-BLAP possibility will. No wonder people in Tier 10 sit at the rear behind an island because that is exactly what these things teach you to do.

For that one you deserve a huuuge thumbsup. -
yes, but the thing is - a smart player will not allow it. You will never see him and he will burn you down. Agreed Cvs are broken. But if you have a good player... well you are screwed, HE or CV. because yes you can counter HE-spam, but you'll not be given the occasion. Not much really. And I do not object. Wish WG had done the reeeeework better.

submarines SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions
BLUB__BLUB replied to WG_Lumberjack's topic in General Discussion
FYI the fighter planes, when launched at the proper time, is the only thing that stops me (when I play CV) from attacking a ship. Because they actually shoot down my attack flight... if i do not manage to cheese them. If ships get the option to launch ASW planes, should mean they circle the ship and drop bombs on subs when detected. I doubt if subs can run that fast... should work. -
Well yes, not very accurate. But depends what CV you have. But I was amazed at how far I could start ahead with some CVs. I make sure to have them "at speed" already before I start the attack.
-
Well, if you "blind fire"then: - you are detected yourself (if you were not); - torpedo the smoke --> not that many BBs have torpedoes... You mean you have to go undetected. Yes you can. But then you can't blindfire... BTW that is assuming you are not already chased by 2 of them and perma-burning in 3 places. Yes you may hope so. Usually though, they just "kill secure" him when he is almost dead. In my case, when the last shell from my dead BB has left the barrel, on the way to their citadel... That is usually correct. I'm not saying CVs aren't broken OP though. A good player can abuse that. But there's more ships like that, too. Correct as well. Even a CV cannot always carry some teams.
-
Not sure if you know the whole shebang then. If you attack "certain ships" you need to: - use the heal (too bad, only torpedo planes have heal); - boost to the max (make sure you have plenty boost left); - keep boost until press F. You press the boost at the moment you get the AA-waring, preferable a bit sooner. Some moment you develop an "instinct", you know when the warning is coming. When you hit the AA, you use the heal (on torp-planes). Start pressing FFFFFFFFF as soon as they have dropped. Left-click and hammer that F. And yes when they use Def-AA you still lose lots of planes. But you can tease them, for example use the last one/two of a rocket squad to trigger them. Eh, this doesn't work with Ark Royal though as planes are very slow. Cooldown is not that long... Also, you can start the attack with DBs a lot sooner than you think. The sooner you start, the less chance your "spare squad" takes hits. Because as soon as you start the attack they go waayyyy up. This is why it is best to take ships from the front, you can usually do it at 5km ahead.
-
Well yeah he could. But you say "they" should be watching minimap. Most of the times when I do such stuff my planes aren't spotted at all. Because I'll approach from the other side of the mountain & drop bombs. Or with torps, good luck to them changing position. I can change faster. Let them turn in smoke, I'll torp that fat BB first and then return to do them over anyway. About Minimap, have a good time predicting what the CV will do next. IF you see his planes coming at all, you have little time to react. Because they're a lot faster than a DD... yet you expect THEM to do it. Point is, you think you need to do it to turn around the match. Well, sometimes you can't do it because the reds just give good play. And if you could ALWAYS do it, without sacrifice, it is a sign CVs are OP-broken AF. Which they are... most of the times. I'm not gonna complain because, sometimes, and I really really mean SOMEtimes, they are not.
