I know what the German BB will be... it will be called GUTBOTE!

Some reason I was barred from posting last night?

Server hamsters don't get fed due to corona. They have to jump 1.5m for the food. -
But such a thing is already happening. I can defend myself from one DD, if I spot him in time (or go spot him after noticing I have one DD "missing"). If it is a DD and a cruiser, I am in trouble and I have to fight them HARD or they'll get me. If there's some BBs following them, I'm dead fro sure, because they'll BLAP me as soon as spotted. I'm not an average CV player... not an unicum either. But they CAN get me, and sometimes they do. On the other hand, my DD-divvy usually goes for caps, but when they're all ours (or impossible/taken care of) he goes for the CV. And he usually gets him, too. This is because I help him (where is it...) with my CV. And it only gets ruined for two things: 1. The game ends before he kills the CV; 2. A BB blaps the red CV before my divvy DD can get him. If the average CV gets a DD+ any teammate going after him, well... he's dead.

Zara - the worst T7 paper ship! (in my opinion)
BLUB__BLUB replied to Nick_Borse's topic in General Discussion
Ah well that is a close call indeed. Must say it is also the matchmaking, I seem to be more unlucky with Zara. This weekend I was only toptier once, and then my team totally potatoed. That is when you find Zara doesn't have carry potential. -

I suppose it depends what tier, I was grinding Zara (T7). Quite often I see the same divisions when I am grinding up. -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
BLUB__BLUB replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
There is this problem: even if the MM is random, there is only so-many people online. And MM usually ends up taking the same batch. Which means, if you click in again after the battle ended, chances are you will see the same person again. I had this last weekend, there was a division of HORRIBLE YOLO-players in 3 DDs (dead in 60 seconds). We also had a 2-man-division in BBs whose favourite hobby seemed to be to practise parking behind an island, and they did this in such a way that every shot they fired just served "landscaping purposes". I saw them appear 5-6 times. Each time the team which had BOTH DIVISIONS (which was mostly mine) suffered a ROFLSTOMP loss. If they were on both sides, the team that had the DDs seemed to suffer harder. Was tempted to stop my Zara-grind and take out the CV... So... took a coffee... clicked in 15 minutes later. Good. They were gone. At least I didn't see them anymore. Not that it was MUCH better... but well... -
If I have to assist a teammate in T4 with a CV, I always take Hermes. One torp, but hey. It's good enough and IMO much more fun. I grinded them all when they still had one torp. But I mean, they take a 10-pointer that still has last stand and such...

Never underestimated the power of stupid. I have talked to some that took Langley... Reason being, they did have a spare US 10-pointer...

Zara - the worst T7 paper ship! (in my opinion)
BLUB__BLUB replied to Nick_Borse's topic in General Discussion
Well there's a difference between being a weekend potato and being actually good. Turning radius doens't really matter, usually goes like this: - I go towards enemy, stay at some distance, shoot, get 1 pen and 4 shatters, 1667 dmg (duh). - then after some time (could be sooner or later) they find me and open up. - I lose 20%HP pretty fast, seems like everyone wants a piece now so I smoke up and run... - no matter because as the smoke screen is pretty small they shoot into it anyway. I eat a few cits. - I never make it to safety though as getting hit from behing sure makes more dmg than the 1667 I was doing... -
-
I got 4 in one game... Yes they probably were stupid and I was kinda savvy. I'dnot say a sub canreact faster than a CV. Because "planing ahead" is a thing. I also got three in one game with Queen Elizabeth. Usually just one or two though. And other surface ships bothered me more than the subs.

Zara - the worst T7 paper ship! (in my opinion)
BLUB__BLUB replied to Nick_Borse's topic in General Discussion
Well, I think it matters indeed. When bow-in a lot gets deflected. When running away you take HUGE amounts of damage. It means 50% more damage when bow-in. Also, 5kts more speed. I don't really know what the survivability tool is anyway. The smoke on Zara is rather small, and they'll hit you no matter what. Many times I have been devstriked in smoke. It's not GTFO card at all, only works when at range really. -

Yes IMO it isn't bad at T7. In fact, if I get a T7 game I'll usually end up upper half of teamscore, and have 70K or so. The trouble is when you get T8/9 games. I got about 75% of those last weekend. While you can "bowtank" somewhat (deflect the AP), it is impossible to do this while running. Just about everything that hits you in the rear causes massive damage. Also... they know very well where to fire in smoke so it is not a "get out of jail free" card anymore. Result: sometimes in those games they last < 5 minutes for me and damage is ~2500. BLAP! Well I almost have that 105,000 XP for Amalfi (ad I'll definitely sell the Zara)... -

Well this might be the clue then. If the enemy has two Zaras... -
Venezia and her SAP... Simply too powerful ?

I'd go for 1BB, 1 CV and 1 DD and the rest cruisers. -

Well I also heard some people like to be crapped upon, so maybe that's why we have this discussion which ship is the best Cleveland Steamer. -
I dunno. I guess they forgot to think about numbskulls trying that kind of crap. BTW it was PvP, both sides had subs and ships and CVs. Lots of b0t-fillers though. CVs did work well against subs, I got 4 of them in Furious. I think Ark Royal will do even better. Well actually that is because I'm kinda spamming that... Furious is really the better CV. But I like a challenge.

I know you are. But don't slag the guy because he is right. If you look at it ä certain way" (in absolute numbers), WG is right: the Reeework is a success. We have an increase of 50-100%. But ONLY if you do not look at what tiers they play... Well I think we all agree these numbers are quite meaningless if you can have 4-6 CVs in one game at T4. Considering there's just T6, T8 and T10 after that, it would count for almost half. I would NOT excluse T4, but want to know exactly which CVs are in game. Then put them in a nice graph. to see where these things are popular. Because (I think you think the same...) I suspect most are at T4, and less at T6, even less at T8... I have only empirical evidence... it is because many times when we have a "shoot down X-number planes" missions, my clanmates ask me to div up with them in a T6-8-10 CV. Else they don;t get a CV in game and can't do the missions. And over half of the T6/T7 games I play when not in CV, there is no CV on the other side... And I know why, or at least I think I do. At T6 you can break even with killing DDs and then doing some other stuff. 35K will do. But at T8 you bleed credits if you don't make 45-50K. And at T10, better do 75 or more. You cannot do that just blapping CVs. Here's an example: Now, as you see there's 2 things: - I did well over 100K; - ...and we won. Disregarding modifiers (premium time, camo, flags) this gave me 240K credits. But the service-cost is 201k. Means I would have made 40K credits. I think for Hakuryu it is about 90K on a win, else you lose credits. And this is why you do not see many CVs anymore in the higher tiers. The average damage done doesn't make any worthwhile credits. At T8 the average damage is 50-60K. I think you lose credits on that. I'm quite sure you lose credits on a lost game.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
BLUB__BLUB replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Today I won something.... I sent in an "Emoji" for the WG contest. Can't tell which one won. I sent in some real cynical ones not expecting them to win. Can't remember which ones I sent actually. LOL. But... Apparently it delivered me a T5 premium ship. YAY! I think one of my "Putin appreciates" or "Go To Gulag" or "Spreadsheet says" or "Sealclubbing" emoji dit it. Must appreciate the LULZZZ on this one, thanks WG! LOL! @MrConway and @Excavatus yes the sense of humor is appreciated hahahaha! So. Look what I got. I'l use it as a semi-DD-torp-spammer I guess: -

All weekend got mostly T8/9 games. so... Had games where I got blapped pretty soon... 2500k damage... also had some where I got 70. The most wonderful 9ahem) was thate even in those 2500k games I was far from being last in the team... What I think of Zara? Well... There is a Venezia at the end... -
Yes you are, and you know it too. See, you are intelligent enough to know that it matters: depending on the question you search for the answer. Some people here actually do... OK not all of them. But you know better than generalize. You know some of these people. leave the generalizing to WG, they excell at it. This is why CV is fine (LOLzzz). Wanna bet? We did 3CVs division in the submarine test. If I'd give every CV twice the torps + allow MatchMaker to do it, you bet you gonna get 5CVs per side.
-
Yes, but 8% is around 1 in 12 players. As such, every game should have a CV. Which it doesn't - for obvious reasons. Well, yesterday I had a bunch of games without DDs (also, no CVs). We also had a game this weekend there were no BBs. Agreed. And that 8% is not enough to fill the servers. It used to be much lower. How many years of failed balance attempts? Endles.... But I think they called it a day already. It CAN BE balanced and fun for everyone (well... all things relative as this is a game where FUN for one means DEATH to the other). Alas, WG didn't listen to many of the unicum players (who pointed out exactly what was wrong...) so here we are. Some of the stuff they did is so @#%#@ I went "are-u-FFing-kidding-me".... Other stuff is simple to fix. For example FLAK. The unicum players avoid it 100%. Potato players crash straight into it. Because the spot where FLAK is generated is determined by the plane speed/direction. SO in fact, the CV controle the FLAK. Add MORE RNG --> Give players a "captain skill" that makes RNG patterns for FLAK. Unicums cannot avoid it, taters will not (even now). Let the players choose when/what they want to change to the FLAK-pattern. Hell those ARP-ships can have pony-shaped FLAK if they like. WG could even make it a "special flak module" and charge doubloons. They are "scientific fact". But it is the GENERAL Cv-poulation. Including 3-per-side-T4-CV. Yes it is. But only upto a degree. Not so much after T6... Now YOU are generalizing a bit too much. He is right, but so are you. What you are interested in is not the "general amount of Cvs". You want to know how much per tier. Same as on T4 you want to know how many are new tater-players and how many are filthy sealclubbers.
-
There ARE "more CV players", because objectively there's more CVs in line as before. But the point is, you'd need 4x the amount of CV players if it is one-on-one. As I said, I'd usually clock up many more CL/DD games per hour than CV-games. You'd need many many more to make every game have a CV. Yeah seen some. Still that were insults in good English. Well yes and no. They did get more CV-players, so to WG that is a success. And because of that they sold lots of premium Cvs. Another success. The balancing, damage-wise, CVs do not make that much more damage than other warships. In T8 it is 50-60K average for BB or CV. T10 Bbs make 55-85K, and CVs make 75-80k. I bet they also call that a great success. Relatively, the Reeework has done SOME good. As in: it is better than before... That we all know the actual balance/game-mechanics still suck, well...yes. I don't know if you'd call replacing a huge disaster with a less huge disaster a "fail". IMO they have improved but not enough by a long shot.
