    I need two things explained to me.

    I can't be sure. But my guess is that it's because Nürby has hydro. WG probably want to see if "having hydro" is enough to make people play it / any good. Some heavy cruisers have hydro and it is very handy if you team up with a DD. (must be a DD that doesn't yolo cap/sink after 1 minute etc, of course). BTW I was also stupid to think La Gal was a heavy cruiser.... because didn't get ASW.

    Yes and he'd be correct. Last time I lost a complete squad is long time ago. Usually I check the team-list, see if there are any such DDs, then take whatever I value least (might be torpedoes on Kaga, for example). I smack the first load either into an island or on a hapless victim, and then I go find the naughty DD. Sometimes he manages to surprise me and shoot all my planes (well... whatever I didn't use/send back). But anyway I have an idea of where he is then. There is no need for me to kill him immediately at the cost of whatever. And once he used his DEF-AA he's not that hard to crack. Or I just spot him and my team will get him. I always try to shoot DDs when I'm playing a pasta-cruiser. Shiiiiittt those things can get such a DD much better than a CV. One game I had there were 3 DDs in a cap and nothing else around. So I just went in and shot them. Ate all their torps and died, but I got three...

    The FLAK is directed by your planes. The speed and direction of your planes is calculated and then the ships shoot FLAK. So, by going left-right and changing speed you can avoid the FLAK (mostly). Then you can drop closer. That is the difference between bad CV and good CV (well, mostly). BTW... you must have some weird teammates if they get that close to enemy BB. But you must still take care of your own torpedoes. Once launched the torpedo is nobodies friend. And yes that means you are also responsible for (dumb) teammates. Never launch them if they have a risk of hitting teammmates. If the ships sail together there is not much to do indeed than throw in some torps. Usually it makes them split up. But sailing in groups is valid CV-defence and good teamwork. And yes T8Cv vs T9/10 is harder, but you have an easy time vs T7 and T6.

    It's not that much at all unless you get T9/T10 EU DDs. OK maybe some like Kidd or some other when they specced for AA. And those can only wreck planes if they surprise you. Generally --> DD AA is kinda lame.

    Eehh well. Good question. But. Same reason as the cheesing 5.9-6.1 I guess. As in "who could have thought they ever would abuse that...." It probably never occurred to WG that sub-pilots would use something else than "pinged-self-aiming-torpedoes". I bet that if they can hoist a ramming flag they'll abuse that as well and just rise from the depth... and... well... see pic.

    The statement wasn't about carriers, it was about you in a BB. There is almost no AA in T4... I should know, I played them when they still had only one torpedo per plane on the carrier. At T4 playing CV is just damage farming... TBH the rest of the tiers as wel but it gets slightly more difficult.

    Well yeah you can try to face them if they have torps or rockets. When they have bombs best is get them broadside. The problem is when you turn - because usually you want to show your bow to other "investors". Who will be happy to take some "extra interest on their account" if they can make their AP shells find your citadel.

    Me thinks this is because you know what a CV can do, and you take "countermeasures" adapting playstyle. Therefore you do better than the ones who just go and then die hopelessly to CV. You are probably one of those DDs where I (in CV) go "well not him, I'll go bite the Montana instead". My usual divvie is like that, he is very much used to CV (because I take CV a lot).     Well, actually he can sit at 50m bobbing 5.9-6.1 because those torps do not have an arming-distance/time. But that will not happen unless they already have you caught and cornered, or they have 3 subs in the 3 caps. Hey you cannot win them all, not even as a CV. The thing is if it is CV vs subs and everything is dead, then you cap and run. They have to re-cap or else they lose. Once you see the cap turn, you send planes and kill them. They can't kill you as you sit at a comfortable distance and can always out run them. And they have to stay >5.9 or no cap. You do not even have to hit them.

    That is the only thing you can do, you cap and then THEY have to cap. Which means they need to surface so you can hit them. Else, no go.

    We're not talking Hurricane league here mate... most Venezias do not avoid torps when in smoke... as most smoke when turning away from a bad situation already. I use Midway torps to dump on Venezias in smoke. Usually they eat a few and I get a flooding. Then it is a matter of doing more DoT if possible. More torps or HE or rockets. Teammates may help, too. But yes Haku torps make more alpha damage. No doubt about it. But they are also avoidable same as Midway torps... And of course I come in "unexpected", like from behind an island. Agreed though that AP-bombs are more useful on Stalingrads and stuff that sits next to islands. A bit of movement vs RNG, well... I do not have much worse hitrate on moving vs non moving objects. Might be GitGud or maybe RNGesus wants more sheep. Probably both. I'd say "when that Venezia is distracted with other things and when they risk getting crossfired..." also works for Midway. And usually in a CV I never kill much. Because you keep it spotted, the finishing blow usually is for the quicker ones.

    Does, because them torps can be thrown into the smoke and will always hit something. However Haku has the AP bombs and they really finish off "not smoked boats". Indeed Midway would be better against an all-Venezia team. Once the smoke runs out though then Haku will catch up. Fast. EDIT: as @_Warfarin_ said, if RNG allows.

    Other seasons, we had the B-team play with Smolensk, Daring/Z and a Conqueror and we won... That was fun. It was hard, but it taught us that good teamwork will get you somewhere. It is possible. But, they didn't win... how many times did they use it and win? How many times did they revert to Haku/Stalin/Venezia... I doubt even a super-unicum cannot stop the onslaught of Stalins & Venezias if your team doesn't have them. Basically you need to kill them all before they kill all your teammates and/or cap out. Also FTFY, Midway doesn't kill cruisers fast enough.

    Well, we'll probably agree that they WILL GET haded out... no matter what. SO, might as well stop going REEEEEEE and try help WG improve quality. For me, having a separate mode at least shows they learned SOMETHING since the Reework CV. And those subs also offer a possibility to fix CVs a bit (ASW instead of rockets, for example). And they might make other ships realize it is important to support their DDs.

    That's a good question. My clan is indeed casual, we have a dedicated night where the competitive ones can have fun. The idea is, some casuals would like to become better and then compete in the more "heavy ones". And yes we cannot field Stalins and Venezias, usually. We have some and some good players but it is not enough. So... seems the only thing all can do right now is grind Venezia/Haku. Guess what I am doing... Grinding a Stalin is no option. Because you need to win CBs for steel and well... basically you need Stalin to grind Stalin So for the "casual" players it is no use playing CB as they do not have the ships and no win = also no fun. Why that is bad: you never get more competitive players. Everybody just goes meh. CB-teams do not get filled. And when nobody wants to play CB, nobody will learn and improve. For the better ones it is also no fun. Even if they manage to put a team full of Venezias and Stalins, it is stale AF. Same sort of thing at BBMM. CVs are "balanced" for 12vs12 and mediocre players. Not for CB where you get 7vs7 and good players. Well, BBMM did too, sometimes they are sick of it and decide to run "all kinds of stuff". Sometimes they even win (surprise MF tactic). The question is, what did YOU bring, and did you win...

    That's sort of true. But WG will probably also find out that those toys will last longer when they work properly. And they get played more and longer when they are quality. Most likely people will want more of them.

    The thing is, unless you can field those 6 Stalins/Venezias (and a Haku) you will get splatted. And even those that have the six of them, get bored because all they do is the same splat every time. Ask @ForlornSailor and @DFens_666 how fun it is. And yes I'll field my Haku when asked (if they can;t get anyone else) because I'll help those 6 clan buddies when needed. And yes I am grinding Venezia... but if somebody else wants to play CB, I am happy to move over. Very happy.

    Well, if you can only field one Stalin and one Venezia you aren't gonna win that many. And of course it is required to lose to improve. But when you see the opposite having six of them, then you know what is coming once they turn up in the spots they usually do. It is like being a rugbyteam with players upto 50kg, and then meeting a team that has only upward from 100kg. There is no GitGud, all you need is to get heavy.
