Not all CVs can, though. In some of them it is a a receipe to miss all bombs. Well, maybe if RNGesus is your special sheep-admiring friend... but otherwise, nope. Granted: I need some GitGud on them IJN Cvs but those bombs are harder to plant right. As in, hitting a fast-moving and twitching DD with Lexi HE-bombs = no problem. Citadelling a bit-too-smart BB with Shokek AP-bombs, not that easy.

Most cursed ship I think I've ever had...
BLUB__BLUB replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
Everything seems cursed at the moment... man such a lot of broadsiding ships, and no citadels. It's quite extraordinary really. And people are getting used to it, I even had somebody doubting you could citadel Yamato with Conqueror. Daaaaaamnnnn man sure you can if he is broadsiding! The thing is, will you get lucky. Seems so, at least. I remember it was almost a guarantee, somehow it seems to be different these days. -
Actually it is not, I can citadel stuff with Smolensk or Minotaur as well but it will have much less effect than a citadel from Yamato. The amount of citadel damage depends on the caliber. I suppose you know that though.

Coordinated boycott of CB from EU and NA clans
BLUB__BLUB replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
I did that, learned/grinded CV - and became kinda savvy. Nevertheless I didn't play much at all. Because I didn't like it. You'd still lose to teams that could bring 6 Stalins and 6 Venezias, nevertheless my clan made it into Storm. Not bad. But the thing is, it is just no fun (you have to try it to know it) and I understand the movement. I'm quite sure they noticed and will do something. I wonder what and if it will be "enough". We'll see. On a side not... I saw that ZOUP video... scoring 4 torps with kaga.. and then again... man... the DERPITZ HAS RETURNED. -
I wonder what your WR was like in the grind up to it then...

THIS. properly explained. That Hindenburg and Halland are OK, Yamato is kinda doubtful. The rest is just an awesome load of... and yes including topic starter. He is on the cart. Last to fall off.

I don't think they'll give one ship some sort of "mega-über-mechanic-one-trick-thing". That will lead to people that are kinda good abusing the crap out of it.
-
Well, those are just damn good no matter how you look at it. Correct. The thing is if you div up with another DD (or a cruiser) and actually work toghether, they'll be much less of a threat. Also seems you kinda like German DDs, I find they have the crappiest AA of all. Also you never have played CV at all it seems. If you do not play them,. you do not know what they do and can't do. I suck at DDs and I do not play them much, but I still try them to know what I am dealing with. But not enjoying it much, the whole game is about ruining other players enjoyment - kill and sink them. I'll certainly admit that battle vs CV is very onesided. Could have been done better, really. In some of my ships my stats go down in division... Must say that is because those ships are so broken OP, when solo I usually do nothing but club and farm. When in division I lose some damage/kills due to being actually helpful...

We often div up 3 BBs at T6 and then go B, after capping it we do (slow) surprise buttsex on A. Never fails to get hilarious results and usually a fat win. As the other BBs have moved either A or C... LOOOLLLL!!!

That would not really be helping DDs. The biggest nuisance for them is CV-rockets (well, besides the spotting). So I'd say forget the torpedo planes and take the rocket planes. I played them but I sucked. I could do the 5.9-6.1 cheese torpedo well enough but that was it. Enjoyed hunting them in CV, CL and even in BBs (until all found out about the cheese...). I was even mildly succesful in DDs. Liked my Leander and the Ark Royal most though. Ryujo was also cool, when there were still lots of players. AAahahahaahhhh Man that thing is broken troll OP CV, while they were looking for subs, poor bastards. -
Why not? I often div up with my son. Guess what, I usually then play Ark Royal (or other T6CV) and he plays DD. Usually Farragut, Mahan or Sims (and yes I know it's a faildiv but Ark Royal doesn't care about T9). Q: do you think a good DD player cares much about CV, or does he kick butt anyway? https://wows-numbers.com/player/545071696,boat73/?type=div2 https://wows-numbers.com/player/552033702,BLUB__BLUB/?type=div2

French ones with speedboost-planes that also have fast-fire,they launch rockets twice per plane. But they smell so much of garlic that they are spotted when launched. Ships don't get citadelled but just faint.

Swordfishes or similar dropping DD-type waterbombs would do. Automated on BBs and such, but "live drop" on CVs. I'd exchange my Ark Royal rocket planes for them. Agreed. I f they don't watch out it will be worse. But I'm quite sure they realised that. Then again, if they do it correctly it will be good fun ADN solve some of the CV issues. Yes, they can screw around with it quite a bit to make it interesting as it is arcade anyway. But did you know the "hedgehogs" were invented because the ships lost contact when over the sub? The Hedgehogs could be aimed, so the ship didn't have to sit above the sub and could still spot it. Press 1 for AP, Press 2 for HE, press 3 for torps, press 4 for hedgehogs. Subs could be seen from above in clear waters, far more than 6m. And then planes would depth-charge the sub. If you speak about bombs, yes. That is also the way it is now (except at 6.1m nothing will happen). I'm talking depth charges on planes. They can be dropped if the plane spots a sub (say 10-15m below) or if a DD or cruiser or whatever spots a sub that is deeper. It just means CV use planes with depthcharges to hunt subs. Like now they use rockets to hunt DDs. Ships could have auto-derp-ASW planes (consumable,. like fighters), or drop depthcharges, or hedgehogs. I have killed quite a few subs with guns from Arizona and Queen Elizabeth. Until they found out about the 6.1m. So if they fix that, that is also an option. I'd say full damage from surface to 6.0m, after that less damage until at 10m no more damage. If they also fix the "not having to surface" by making them run out of air, it's probably a lot better. Which is all true, but then remember a buckle or tear in the hull of a sub would soon be fatal. Hedgehogs weren't all that powerful, but the change in pressure would rupture the hull. Same as a torpedo into a ship, well, yep, but the fatal ones were often those that didn't hit the ship, but exploded right under the keel, snapping the ship in half due to massive pressure difference. They already did, 5.9m deep and you could just blap subs if you knew how to aim (or were lucky). problem was, at 6.1 m deep they took no damage at all. So, they all hovered around 6.0m. Because at 5.9m they took no damage at all from depth charges... which needs to be fixed. I also think that ship/CV torpedoes should do damage to subs (0-10 m for any normal torps, 10-20m for deepwater torps @MrConway). And anotherthing, subs did NOT have to surface (except to cap) because their batteries reloaded underwater too (at 1/4 speed). If they need to surface for air, a BB just has to run, and the sub will have to surface after a while - he better do it out of vision or else get blapped. You can even STAY ON TOP of that sub (if you have a hydro-ship, or are near one) and then wait until he has to surface. Then BLAP. -
The spread is so large that at >15km you can hit three ships in the same salvo. No kidding. I have been on the receiving end... LOL. We were packed up to combine AA.

Well it's "arcade", WG could make such torps "acoustic" and somehow make that work against subs only. They could even give them a certain depth where they explode. The easiest way though would just be to change rockets for depth-charges (bombs). Well seems DDs auto-set depth too. So no problems there. Spotted sub (by themselves or teammates) = drop = boom. true but wouldn't be any use in WoWS, since DDs or whatever surface ships will do most of the detecting. AKA the one that have stuff to murder them will usually detect them, CV can just help kill them. Which reverses the role of CV and as such helps the DDs. They might even start to like CVs (LOL). Exactly. Just give them (choice of) a replica of DD waterbombs instead of their rockets. True. https://www.wired.com/2007/06/shooting-throug/ But a 50cal is not exactly a warship gun shell... it is 13mm. A long long way off from the (sort of standard) 385mm on a T6 BB. Or the 405mm on West Virginia. Now such a large caliber shell, it will even pierce armoured belts under the waterline. How deep wil it go, and still totally FUBAR a thin-walled sub... well is a matter of "balanz comrade". Most damage would probably come from the shell exploding anyway - but how deep would it go before it explodes? And if that sub is "6 m under" the tower stil (almost?) sticks out above water. A plane would spot it. -
You mean if you find a dumbass that manages to shove his ship under the shells....
-
Nobody, actually. They just use the spreadsheet. I know that sounds cynical but they just do. Like in: a very rare ship that nobody plays well may be OP as F, but no matter. Because nobody plays it well. Or, when it is too good and gets dominant, they take it away. It becomes "that legendary OP ship". Will be powercrept... so... will balance it self out...
-
My not-so-little son plays the game too, and we often div up. I like BBs, cruisers and sort-of-like CVs. My son likes DDs most of all. However, sometimes I have him try a ship. That I am absolutely crap with. Because it requires a different skillset (mindset, too...?) And sometimes he shows me "how it is done" (tells me: you just suck, dad). Sometimes he goes "how can you be good with this POS....". It's not the WR, and it's not the account. It is the person playing the ship. And I know it is... because on the grind to Moskva... we both passed same ships.

Plenty of those. Yes - but there's a few things. - the 5.9-6.1 "cheese tactic" needs to go; - after that, BBs could and should be able (like large cruisers) to do SOME damage, also when deeper in the water. - BBs (and al ships) should get some kind of ASW, be they planes, bombs, or whatever. Yeah I think nobody wants guided torpedoes for planes. I see it as a CHANCE FOR WG to fix CVs a bit. Give thema choice: ASW planes or rockets. As they are now: yes. We see it on the "submarine game mode". Nobody picks a surface ship. As soon as everybody has a sub to play, the amount of b0ts skyrocketed. -

Yes "Simple". I have seen you guys do stuff and you already tested half of it on the test-server, like the "air vs battery". The "limit 6.0m"already was different in the Halloween events. So... yes you can. No use denying... -
Except this time EVERYBODY has access. Not just people that are interested enough to install the lot. And WG will make sure enough people play it, which was a problem in CV-test. So this time, not just b0ts and CVs.

Why (and what) is weird?

BLUB__BLUB replied to WG_Lumberjack's topic in General Discussion
IMO that would be simple. Check threads. Kick out/change the things thaat are most needed. CHange nothing else. Then test again. You will get closer to the goal. If you change EVERYTHING there is no "base" to decide if it is better or worse. Most needed: - that 6.1-5.9 cheese... - spotting underwater... - damage from surface ships --> deeper = less damage, no specific "zero damage" boundary. etc... -
Have a look at the submarine-thread, @MrConway stated there will be some changes and then a new test. I suppose that they'll keep it T6 again, too. With changes. And then maybe another, if they still do not meet requirements. There is PLENTY enough room to get them "in shape" for X-mas. After T6 meets requirements, other tiers. At least that would be my guess.
