Well maybe I could call myself that as well, indeed. But I'm slightly above the avereage. Doesn't mean I can't be a potato. In fact sometimes I am even worse! Eh, if you don't see them coming... pretty sure though his team was kinda... unrescueable, seeing that screen.

Problem is the team thinks "oh the CV will kill those DDs" and then they do f-all. Now it's OK if it is 3 Shimas or other crap, but not so much if it is 3 Hallands or Kidds or stuff like that, and they are actually smart. Usually they find out when some nitwoit Currywurst suddenly eats a face full of torps. "Hey CV didn't you kill all of them yet". Well noooo because you all yelled CV OP so... meh. Today I got a game, reds had 4 hallands and 3 Smolensks, all bunched up, spotted them but nobody shooting... So I went and harvested some Shikishima and Currywurst. Tasted niiiice...

Might even work as I have seen lots of potato Cvs...

Scharnhorst: 75% winrate during a week after purchase, now 30%

Holidays have started... notice anything "special" about the length of games? -
The CV is worse than even the fattest BB in steering, but it is faster in a straight line (though not accelerating very hard). Most CVs will outrun a cruiser... and some DDs, too. But they'll not outrun guns and usually they are just as squishy as a cruiser, and a lot easer to hit. Most annoying about the autopilot is that, when you finally have a "satisfactory" line plotted on the map, he decides to change it... You think you have a nice rounded line so the CV will make a good turn behind the island... nooooo... he runs into it and starts going FWD-RWD...

Nope, except that when they are "on the attack" their maneuverability is less, and it will enlarge the reticule/visor. So, perpendicular on the plane-direction is best. And if you can make them steer more, due to slowing down or speeding up, even better. I have had DDs avoiding to get hit, but it is not really skill - it is all RNG but you CAN influence how large that RNG circle is, or screw up bomb-fall direction. Movement at the last minute will give some sort of "weight on a rope" dispersion-like effect. All bombs might even drop on the left if the planes turn to right while dropping! The game between you and the CV, he needs to get that circle as small as possible and on top of you - and then drop the bombs straight - and you need to prevent this. But now you also know what shape it has and how many bombs will fall. It would be handy if you'd play some CV yourself, or study some of the online videos. TopTier is a good one to check as he takes them directly from gameplay. Some replay videos do not show a lot of stuff (like the reticule). BTW - I suck at DDs, but I do play them (mediocre and y upto T6...) so I know what they do and can't do. CV don't bother me much, as I know how they usually practise their 'trade'. My usual divvy (a DD main) he doesn't care at all. Or so it seems... but this is what he usually pulls off in his DD, he survives and makes top 3. Note that this DD has no smoke... and we lost.

WG average autopilot...

Well if they can get him after 10 minutes, they can still win the game. Especially when the enemy DDs are all dead, the main threat is the CV. I'd say in this case (both teams around 525 points, killing the CV will give 100 points) they are doing good. After this those 3 DDs will cap the two remaining caps and I have no doubt it will be a win.
-
Furious has carpet-bombers. Per drop you have two planes. If he can make it he can do three passes. Each pass will drop 12 bombs. You did very well (or were lucky) to need 4 passes/attacks. Or the CV was not that good or unlucky. The reticule/visor is elongated but... welll watch this.

Autopilot is WGs way of balancing CVs....

WG why do you have to gib Graf Spee in the dockyard - could have named it Admiral Scheer, made it slightly different... Same as other premiums. Sometimes I have 3 of "whatever" floating around in game. Maybe name the other ones too? You could do the same thing in the tech tree. For example we have Warspite and Queen Elizabeth. But sometimes I get 2 Warspites and 2 Queen Elizabeths in game... How about: - Valiant - Barham - Malaya Minor variations could occur, like one having less torpedo protection but 0.5 sec faster reload.
-
I'm kinda disappointed WG didn't name the ship Admiral Scheer though, and made it slightly different. That way they'd have made some money or something, "whales" would want it and it would have something different. Some different AA or 0.5 km more reach or whatever. The Graf Spee is hardly overpowered. Lucky for me I do not have it yet. Will share the captain with PEF which I recently got (also not a bad ship, expected uit to be crap but it's not).

It gets worse, I also play Smolensk (badly, unfortunately). -

I actually got 7 kills once in Ryujo and that gave minus 12. -
Weekends are terrible for randoms .
BLUB__BLUB replied to Admiral_Oily_Discharge's topic in General Discussion
You shouldn't get that upset. It is the weekend, and you know it. You also know it is kinda difficult to keep a 50% WR in weekends, as the average is more like 45-48%. This is because bad players leave (there goes the 35%..) but the 60%+ keeps on playing. I haven't got much of a choice either as I work in weekdays. So I know what I am getting into. Then again, it is a game. You try your best, and you go LOLOLOL at the rest. I've seen you play, you are plenty good enough. If you ever want to div up we can see if we can beat the odds (I bet we can't). Though if we get 3 kinda savvy dudes we can at least keep up >50% and go LOL at what we see happening. -
The thing I find with those sneak-up-DDs is, when you are still alive they seem invincible, and after your CV is dead your last squad finishes them off like whack-a-mole no problem... Yesterday I had one of those, ended up attacking him with AP-bombs... cost me half the game. Muhahahaha and then the whine some of my team did (they didn't kill that DD either even if I spotted him half the game).... Great DD player that though, I sent him +1. Caused me to get out-damaged by a damn Midway. Duh!

Shouldn't be sorry too much, I have been capping in BBs and even a CV. Because hey, what do you do if all DDs are dead and cruisers running.... -

Just met @Timgold in his Midway. We were doing the click-in-at-same-time thingy but of course it went wrong. Usually does but never mind we try to murder the other ones first if we can. Which is probably even funnier. The reds won but I think I out-XP-d his Midway (bonus win = 200% XP?). Many games this night, this was one of the more exciting. In the end I was the last one left, had shifted off to take their base but nope. Somehow I couldn't get those red ships to die fast enough. Man I'll be hearing this one for a while in the clan (dammit...) Well played @Timgold and +1 for you! (but playing CV, you'll probably have zero karma like me). -
I have two of those, but my main reason for poatoing is when teammates do stupid stuff. Like when I am in CV, they want me to spot and kill DDs, but they never help. And then some BBs go to map border and cry "need spotting". Such stuff. Or when I am in a BB you cover two cruisers, they both turn and run. Same when in a cruiser you cover the DD he smokes up and dies. I always go whistle this song, and the I potato on...

[Poll] Did you get KM CV mission(s) in first 5 "Free" German Carrier containers?
BLUB__BLUB replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Got the T4 mission, well we all know what T4 is like. Double CV and no AA. Haven't done that in quite a while... last time I did took Hermes and out-murdered the other CVs by a mile. But poor seals... but I guess that's what WG requires... so... -
How you know when they are just good or cheat ?

Happens eh. Sometimes I also think, well that was worth it, but now I'm dead. And then somehow nothing happens. -
How you know when they are just good or cheat ?
BLUB__BLUB replied to GrazyC2's topic in General Discussion
Did. What I saw was a good gamble, nice shot. Doesn't always pay off though. And in Venezia, if you hit a DD he usually is dead or almost dead. I do expect that Venezia to get a face full of spam from that DDs friends though. -

Sealclubbing T8... ah well sort of. In my favourite US sea-bunker. -

That doesn't matter really, some good or experienced players will sort of know where he went. It is same as taking a long-distance shooting ship and then shooting spawn points that you memorized. Which is why I always haul a$$ ASAP when in the CV, some do not, and then they get whacked. After a while (and let's face it, we all know these maps...) you know the "favourite routes". You sort of know where he is, and if you are unspotted when you fire, no reason not to try. I do it too, just got a cit on an Odin with my Arizona... My usual buddy is a DD main, and he fires torps while nothing is spotted. Guess what, usually there is a BB or cruiser turning around the corner and running into them. He had many many "first blood" thingies because of that. And I just got a citadel because of such... on Odin... he killed me later (or it was his team/clanmate...). -

BLUB__BLUB replied to GrazyC2's topic in General Discussion
I was too, because when that DD was still spotted he was MOVING. Now I know when he has disappeared behind that island he is still moving. And I have an idea how fast. And the thing is, in real life you'd not know if you hit something. But the game will tell you, so if you miss you go "maybe a bit more to left", then when you hot you go "aaahhhh there he is..." & dakka dakka dakka. If you have Smolensk you will know what I mean with that. Can also do it with Minotaur or anything that spams. I even hit stuff in smoke, it is not that hard. And I always get hit as well when I am in smoke myself. There is no need to be "very good" and also no need to cheat. Unspotted ship in open water? Well if you cannot be spotted, there is no hurt in trying to shoot it anyway if you know sort of where he is.
