    Steelship(s), Yes? No? Why/Why not?

That's the thing really. We have no way of knowing what you LIKE to play and what you are GOOD AT (we can check last one by your stats though). I can take myself as an example - I play BBs (like, too, most of them) - Cruisers (like, some, some I hate) - and CVs (I like Ark Royal, it's a challenge). But what I need is ships for Clan Battles. Most CB are T10 so I am not interested much in other tiers. For fun I play mostly T5-6-7-8. So if there is any cruiser/BB/CV I like in there, I'll get it. Even from the Premium shop I have most of what I like. It means I spent coal on: - T10: Salem (because I am grinding Worchester and Des Moines is far far away...); - T10: Smolensk... Hand Middle Finger Of Stalin, any dumbo can play that, so yeah, must have it (LOL); - T10: Thunderer (even if I have already the Conqueror it is quite different); -.... aaaaand some LOL low tier stuff. Maybe next I'll get T10 Yoshino. Or since T10 Zao is better, maybe I'll grab that Russian T5 BB. But really there is nothing I like much in there so that is also a reason I got Thunderer, I knew I'd like it probably (and I do). I spent steel on: - T7 Flint (because I like to play the tier); - .... saving up for Stalingrad (Hand Of STalin always appreciated in CB...) and there is nothing else I'd fancy, really. As I like BBs, well, Shikishima or Bourgogne maybe, but in CB we just need 1 BB and lots of cruisers. Also, I think Yammy is better than Shikishima plus Bourgogne isn't all that in CB. So STalin definitely for me. No Somers for me, I wouldnt know what to do with it anyway, but have seen good players use it in CB to great effect. SO it is largely personal what you will choose. Also you never know what WG will bring up next. But knowing WG a bit it will never be better than Hand Of Stalin... OK...except if it is a new Russian... maybe we call it FIST of Stalin... Good luck with your choice, and IMO better choose a ship that you LIKE. Because then you will play it more and it will help more gaining credits and XP. - I got my coals worth from Salem, played many CBs with it (enough to get Flint and ahalf a Stalingrad) and still is enjoyable; - Smolensk is really great when you have one of those weekend-evenings you just get roflstomps and brainless lemming teams... (so are CVs by the way) - Thunderer so far is a hoot... man that thing is OP as FFFFFFFF.... so far 5 games I need to learn it better... - Flint is a real challenge, needs a captain with AFT, and I really need to learn how to play it... but is fun. I also play the Premiums that I got a lot. At least the ones I bought, I enjoy them. It shows in how many times I played them, too. Well, some I got from crates or something - those I did not pick, some are good, some less. So - choose wisely!

TK Penalty - Did i miss the Memo?

Your first, second,. third torp may have done damage, and you went pink - then right after that your last torp killed him, and you went orange. I think that can happen of there is significant time between torps. Or maybe they were two salvos (two launchers?). Never seen anyone go orange TBH. And on the randoms I see plenty weirdos, even clanmates shooting each other just for fun...

    SPECIFIC CV discussion

It doesn't take a unicum player to answer those... Well, at least that CurryBratWurst would maybe get some damage on a DD that tries to torp him... But OK you say Curry is no example. Well then, with torps you can (if you are any good at all) drop two strikes at least and not lose enough planes to be bothered by it. And in those two strikes you will score hits, on any ship. As a return you will have lost planes, but well, they restore, so you do not care. There is no risk and no punishment. Well yes if a CRUISER is paying ATTENTION. But not of he is hiding i behind island, and not if it is a BB and not if... You get my point. I t is the same as with torps. You drop, you d gain - and there is NO CHANCE the victim can deliver something in return. Yes he may shoot down some planes... but, if you're good enough, not so many that you will be hampered the slightest bit. True. Those are ways to mitigate damage. But there is no way of REVENGE. And for the rest - see the above about torps and bombs. You will not lose a squad. The first strike gets home unharmed. AT least half the second gets home again, too. So say you lose one strike of three, or something like that. Even one-and-a-half. Maybe whole squad. So what happens? You carry on with rockets, or bombs, as there will be enough of those. No problem. Hmm... I'm not sure I understand this. I'm not unicum, not by a long shot. Just a bit "savvy", which means I'll end up beating the average (other) CV player. Doesn't mean I always win... I cannot carry potatoes (and I do not try). In fact I do stupid crap just to see how it works. Sometimes it even does. Like bombing DDs in smoke and torping them, just like shooting in smoke does. Gambling pays off (well, for the CV...). HALLAND What ships you cannot damage? Yes there are certain "surprise MF" botes around. Hallands that turn off their AA, for example. But for starters you already know if the enemy has a Halland if you bother to check the teams line-up. And you know where they usually go. Now, even if you get surprised, piling on the boost and turning makes half your squad escape. And you now know where he is. If you do... you can even hunt him, make sure you have the "fire button active" in his general area. Maybe even leave a sacrificial spotter (oh... I mean "fighter"). And soon he'll be half dead. Or on fire. Or torped, bombed, whatever. After that he is easy pickings. Your teammates will help, too. And what did he get for being dead? A few plane-kills, that did not stop you from getting 100K damage. Mind I pulled that crap on a Friesland (T9) while I faildivved in Ark Royal (T6). Kept spotting him, until he went to hide in smoke... then torped him and carpetbombed. RIP Friesland... Yup zero karma. And I'm not even that good (check my stats).

I have Smolensk... I have Thunderer... I play CV... Yes zero karma. So far I haven't been chatbanned though.

They should have changed the spotting by CV to that range a long time ago. As in, CV spots something, only players that are in ~8km range of the planes can see this. The rest can see it on the minimap, just like ships in storm. But the thing is, I'll get a LOT more kills in CV. Usually when I am flying in for the final blow, the victim gets "kill secured". So, is this what we can a "win-win" thingy?

    General CV related discussions.

Amateur level, I have 572 battles in Ark Royal alone... and there's no ship with too much AA. I fail-div it into T9 and still kick butt. If you can't hit any ship you like you're just not good enough. I can, and I'm just a bit above average. Practice more, you'll get better.

How to aim CV bomber and corps accordingly?

That just means you buy 10 instead of 20....

If you sell those, you may get them AGAIN in the next "lucky crate"...

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

True... I did use autopilot largely... it was just not working. It is auto-avoiding ships, even enemy ones. But you are right, I could have done it. Too many drops I ff-ed up, too.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Neglected my Lexi a bit lately... so took her out for a ride. Faildivved with a T9 DD of course, else it is no fun. We ended up with a team that sort of tatered to the end. So I decided to cap and kill whatever, even if in CV. Ended up meeting an almost full HP KGV and fighting to death. Hmmm. Must practise more!! Well at least I outdid the enemy CV (he won though, so gets double XP dammit). With thanks to @Dienstagskoch in the King Grog V, well played mate & grats on the win. Kill ya next time (well... hope...). Made a video out of it, @El2aZeR and @Beastofwar what do you think heheheheh! 20200827_190458_PASA108-Lexington_25_sea_hope.wowsreplay

    Dutch forum?

It will not happen. Dutch like to get everything cheap. So, unless WG makes a 50% off deal.... no flood, no sale. But, just in case, learn some Dutch here:

Question for Erich Loewenhardt carrier owners.

Ditto. Those are better. It is quite funny though if you make it a "Beast Of War Build". You should try it. Not as in "very very good", but if you're any good it still is good enough and HILARIOUS.

On a side note, just had a dude in a Ranger spotting my Ark Royal CV. Funny. Useless of course (found an island...), but I decided to get him back a bit... Found that you can citadel the Ranger with Ark Royal rockets. LOL. Yes he died even faster than their DDs...
  15. Well, that's RNG for ya, also he was avoiding/dodging REALLY DAMN WELL. I could not get him, I'm not THAT good but quite savvy. Means he is DAMN GOOD. I'll usually kill whatever I want dead. He was also lucky, on Incapable the main means of damage were the rockets - and they got the nerfbat on all CVs. With Kaga it is not easy to do lots of damage if most ships are T9 (I have it too). Trick is to make sure you hit 3-4 torps steadily, get flooding and then follow up. You can torp all game if you want. But better if you get a flooding to set multiple fires. Best take a (fat) ship that is alone and away from teammates, else if he uses DCP, your mates will profit and not you. Damage-wise it is the best, after Enty and Shokaku. .
  16. Haven't had that bad, worst I get are micro's of 1/10th sec. Sometimes a bunch of them though (for example I spot 6 ships, yes I get 6 "shocks").
  17. Could be, but very unlikely. My PC isn't that great, but plenty good enough. I get GOT ~80-100FPS with everything maxed-out. Also, 30-32 ping. My internet connection is OK, too (practically it is 500Mbps down, 40 up). It is fast enough, even 4 PCs at once (yes I have 3 same and a similar laptop...) they all had 30-32 ping. Well... no way this game maxes out my PC resources. In fact, turning all the eye-candy off doesn't matter. I have definitely found out it "stutters" when an "event" happens. For instance, ships get spotted (more ships = more stutter), a fire gets set, ship gets deleted, all that. I'm in the Netherlands. Quite sure though it is something with a fault in the rendering or delayed info-packets. I cannot imagine it is the rendering though, used to be fine with full eye-candy and plenty to spare.

You see, this is where CVs are lacking. I wish to have a squadron especially for this, with very very large and powerful rockets. How it needs to work is this way: I have just deleted the enemy DD, and burnt down everything else in a cap. My teammates still do not cap it, and once again we will lose due to no points as we have no caps. Here is where those large rockets come in... (shot up their behind and pushing them)

    Chapayev Or Tallinn And Why

Chapayev is my most favourite... but I hate Donskoi.... which I now have to regrind for the Nevsky. Man I was sooooooo happy when I finally got Moskva. And noiw... I have to DO IT AGAIN. So, if you want the good, then you will at some point be shagged. Grab the lube, bend over...
  20. I saw @Andy_the_Cupid_Stunt in my Audacious (he was in Kaga), even threw a torpedo at him . Wanted to get that fat Nelson but nope. Had to harass a few DDS first and killed one with a torpedo. Yes I like torpedoes. Then I realised... hey wait... LOL. Well his team was much much better. I did my best though. Especially that damn clanmate of him, I just couldn't kill that Cheshire. Must have set 10 fires on him. Gave him a +1 too. Send my regards to your clanmate Tundi_2014, he saved all your behinds. Unfortunately I ran out of time...

Yup, and that pile gets rather large. Q: What was your reaction when WG went "AA damage will start at the last plane"?
  22. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

I believe you mate, but that's not what I mean. I never experienced that myself as such anyway because couldn't get it working. The RTS version never did it much for me, probably also because I had a much much less powerful PC back then. I mostly mean, when one (torpedo) plane got shot down, it left a gap. I'd manage to get a whole BB through, yes even Hood.
  23. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

No, that doesn't have much to do with it. As I didn't really know/missed anything about plane regeneration... back then. I played RTS CVs, but never ran out of planes. Mostly because my PC wouldn't cope very well, so it got laggy/buggy as hell. Besides that, CV never came back for me much after I escaped once or twice, he probably found a less smart one. At least that is what I thought of it.
  24. BLUB__BLUB

    General CV related discussions.

That is the whole thing. WG doesn't seem to understand this. The balance needs to take place RIGHT THERE. If there is any defence/countermeasure it needs to take place RIGHT THERE. So when they made the AA work to the LAST plane and NOT the attacking squad... well... IMO that is where RTS was better. You had to CLICK the attacking squad (action by player). THEN one or two would get shot down (satisfaction). It would leave an OPENING in bombs/torps. And through that opening you could escape 100% damage. That was MUCH MUCH better.

Actually, yes. The autopilot "actively" tries to avoid other ships. Say the CV -player puts it into a straight line, and puts the end point behind an island so he is shielded from detection... now guess. How hard can it be? Which means, you see a CV coming, you think it's gonna be OK because you both will miss, but the sucker drugged up drunk autopilot thinks not, so corrects course/speed. Duh. After ramming you he also crashes into the island he was supposed to park behind, starts reversing backward/forward, CV gets spotted, BOOM BOOM, and hey presto CV gets deleted. Probably working as intended...
