Carriers in next season of clan battles...
BLUB__BLUB replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
Does, but it's not like Stalin spots "from every distance and continuously". If you are spotted by Stalin radar then you know he is at around 12 km or less. I agree with @DFens_666 it is the CV that makes Venezia powerful. If nobody is spotting for you it is just... well... pfffrrtttttt <imagine sound of wet fart here> But this "cyclone" detection is exactly what I suggested for CVs, their spotting should be for limited range, rest gets minimap. I'm curious how it will work out, the "at least one" obligatory BB is much better - they just forgot "must include at least one DD". -
Dude that's really bad. I never have seen that happen. Worst I have seen is T7-8 with a T6 CV and a T8 CV. Once, while fail-divving, I managed to get my T6 CV into a T9 battle with a T8 CV (that was fun, LOL). I never see much double-CV matches, you must have been extremely unlucky.

Just for the kicks. Pick just one ship.

Ark Royal -
Well I have been killed by DD, so it is definitely possible. But... Usually I know when I am "short of a red DD", and then I know. I'll usually kill him, too. I had it such that I killed 3 DDs, a cruiser and a BB that all came for me. 4th DD got me. Buit we won, I cleaned up 3DDs, that cruiser, and farmed that BB and two others. 4th DD was the last living red. I killed him with my last-launched squad... 4 kills, a win and >100K damage. Why go and look for them... no need.
-
You are correct there. If you can take out the CV, it is worth it. It usually has a lot op HP and you take out an influential ship. However, if you manage to take him out he was either unlucky or not paying attention, or he was not that much of a threat to anyone to begin with... still a fat score, so do it if you get the chance. It's not worth it if you need 4 ships and half the match to do it... OK maybe if it is @El2aZeR it would be a meaningful kill but I doubt you'd succeed, he'll just kill you all.
-
Well, 55% total isn't saying much, it includes divisions and everything else. I did. Surface ships at least reacted when I pressed a button. Mwah. Depends - I outperform most other CV players in randoms, when in divison we can really kick butt. The main thing is, RTS could not just outperform but totally zero-out their opponent. That can't be done anymore. But low-skilled CV players now get outdone by FLAK, self-aiming and other stuff. I do not even have to do it anymore. And where in RTS you had to watch the enemy CV, now you can just farm at will. Yes, but a potato-player will hit just one. Man did you see some of the drops. They miss me when I am in Hood and I'm not even avoiding. That NEVER happened in RTS. Auto-aim was much better than some players.

I didn't think it was all-that-good, really. But almost everyone got one for free in that "dockyard" thing. -
Yes that's smart tactics from you. Nevertheless it only worked because... well... Also, I do sometimes "attack to fail", usually with torps - so my divmates get his nice fat broadside... Well, my problem with RTS was more like, it didn't always do what I wanted when I pressed the button. Meanwhile my PC also has evolved... lately some stutters but usually 100+FPS. Not back then... I was able to do a crossdrop but most times I FF-ed it up, as did most CV players. With RTS, the auto-drop actually assured some level of damage even if you were crap. Current Reeework... enlarged the skillgap, because now you have to drop stuff yourself. And some can't even get their torps straight, or get the reticule to tighten. More skillgap. Must say it took me some practice to get all 3 torps to hit on Ark Royal. I still FF-up about 50% of the drops with Kaga, 4th torp usually missing target (unless he's dumb).

I found use for the Silliwangi... Yes I play DDs... sort of badly though. -
You mean, he was too tomato to turn so he'd get your broadside every time? I even make that move on a T10 dakka-DD when in a T8 CV... and those buggers really HAVE dakka, Hayate...well... no. This is "skill gap". And I'm not unicum by a loooooong shot. Wise decision... You are comparing RTS torps to rockets here. It took (some) skill to set up a cross-drop... But yes, indeed RTS (skilled) crossdrop would have finished you off. But a Hayate, well, if you are ever in Hayate and meet me on the reds, you'll not live long either. And I could hardly pull off a crossdrop in RTS, really.
-
The problem here is: the CV decides to launch rocket planes. It is not the choice of the reds what they get to shoot. Also - if you "manage" the planes there is little reason to run out of them. This is (part of) that skill gap @El2aZeR is talking about. I never ever run out of planes... except might run a bit low in CB, when you HAVE TO attack a target, even though it's not the best. Like, having to reset cap on triple-cruisers (normally I'd go F3--> hey guys there is some floating citadel food here).
-
It's true I do not have any idea if he was actually any good, but I have seen him before. 1/4 HP is easy... rockets on broadside... The thing is you need to have "some idea of where he is". So, spotting him will cost planes. Then next time you do 1/4, and your teammates do some as well. I had to do most, because, well, GLUEEEEE. Three attacks were enough though. I tend to drop DDs with torps a lot - they do not expect you to do it. With Kaga you send "chaser" torps, then he can't turn... then send another load crossing.
-
BTW on a side note, masterrrr @El2aZeR if your clan can spare you:
-
I'll kill a EU DD with Kaga (very very flimsy planes) in 3 charges. SO, how many is the max loss on that, can't be 40? That's assuming they'll all be dead. Which they will not. But that DD will be... and I will still have full squads.
-
Quite true. But yesterday I met a DD player that I have seen a few times before. I was in Kaga and he had one of those Dakka dakka EU DDs. He posted in chat, feed me your planes. OK so I fed him some, took away 1/4th of his HP. Mind you he was smart, it did cost me a lot of planes. But there could be only one outcome. He died. He couldn't cap. Yeah he still sent torps and some of my potato team even caught them. I lost some planes. Didn't make me less effective (still killed a Stalin a BB and that DD, scored 85K in a T10 match and we won). Duh.

Well, we did most of the T6 CB with a DD (and a CV). Must say he's used to CV... CV? What CV? CV dead... well, theirs anyway... -

It was available for steel, that is how I got it. Basically it is an Atlanta with smoke. But it's not stronger than, for example, a Fiji or something. It is hilariously broken though due to smoke+dakka. Once you find some good position you can really go to town with it. However - it will be available for coal, in future. But... I do not recommend it for novice player as it is VERY flimsy. Better take Fiji, at least that has heal. It also has much better torps. This one will teach you how to play cruiser (or die really fast, like me in that game). -

Weekend... weekend.... great MM, too. Yes and T7 can't carry T9, I know... I still tried. Easier while sealclubbing, I killed Gneisenau, Izmail and Bretagne. -

Here's what you can do with cruisers, me in Flint. Now I am not exactly very good... but still. I d got a T9 game with a CV, on a large map. This is a disadvantage... Decided to "follow" the DD to the cap. Of course I do this keeping the island between me and the reds. WHat I intended to do is get close (becauise I must) and then sit in the smoke going dakka. SO, that is what I did. Problems: I forgot to switch off AA... got detected, and punished; should have retreated a bit sooner before my smoke ran out... should have aimed better for that Akazuki, he'd have been deleted sooner (still my kil heheheh); But hey here's 50k and a kill and assist cap in a T9 match, easy. Bad luck we met so many fat BBs. If we hadn't, and I would have lasted longer, 100k could have been. Added the replay for ya. 20200912_164458_PASC707-Flint_15_NE_north.wowsreplay -
Well if it is any consolance, I play about 30% CV/BB/CL and I agree putting carriers in CB is kinda stupid. They are broken AF - any "balance "is done on the average damage vs 12 ships, so putting them in 7 vs 7 is total crap. What it will give is a meta of CV + <whatever considered the most OP cruiser at that time> which is boring. Then again - this is a "kill the opponent" game, so yeah. Like in GTA5, of course you want that helicopter with that RPG launcher. Because:

...same here. They have torps, but you probably mean "not long range". What they are for is when you sit in smoke going dakka and then suddenly somebody decides to rush you - that is where those torps are for. OK maybe you can use the torps on a yolo-run or surprise-MF some BB but... nah. London hits hard, but man that reload. I really like Exeter though and that doesn't even have smoke. I have Leander though and it is still a favourite (I even bought perma-camo). Loved them from the Emerald on... I also love Dallas... and Flint... What you do with them, you "position" and "assist". you set up shop behind an island, and wait for enemy to come in. Or you sit behind your DD (unspotted, in your own smoke or behind/in his) and dakka. Preferably you have the nose in, or even better the [edited], so you can scram when the inevitable shite happens. Burn everything i with HE and try to set perma-fires. You do not have to go dakka al the time - just when the occasion presents. THAT IS REALLY THE THING. You have to find the occasion. Many people think you have to go dakka all the time. But you do not. A few good perma-fires and a DD kill is much better. Be patient. Later-game you can be much more useful than at the start. Yeah I found them a grind as well. from T8/9 they get better, and T10 is a beast. What you are supposed to do with them, use the SAP on DDs and other cruisers, so what if they angle. And use the SAP on BB superstructure. Use AP on broadside cruisers and all superstructure. -
Not really, but after a few times doing that you'll probably be stuck in co-op. Maybe you should stick to co-op, there's almost no Cvs there anyway.
-
Yes, I think you are correct - this is what they'll do. But don't worry it wil all be balanced...
