That is actually a NICELY WORKING "game mechanic". If they nerf/buff the depth charges it will be "balanced". Keep it, WG. It is a sensible thing.
-
I agree. Why WG thinks subs should stay submerged forever is really dumb. Even a CV shows the planes at 10km distance, you can see them coming (OK just dodge.. eh...). And finally, you can see where the planes return - you can "pay him a visit"... AND if he is dumb he actually runs out of.. .planes. WHich he needs to expose when attacking. None of that with subs.

Almost 90% WR doesn't lie eh. Yesterday we went Manfred + 2X Smolly...

I'm only a bit above average though... so don't think you are unicum yet... Also, haven't played it in a while, that is one of the CVs I actually learned to play in. Note though that I play lots of weekends... 5 minute games and such... In a "normal" game (~15 min) I'll do 80-100+ K, usually. But hey. Have you been gaming weekends lately? You can't carry taters, not even in the Ryujo - only if you are lucky. There is just no way to do that much damage in the given time, if your team taters. You cannot do damage that quickly, even if Ryujo has the AP bombs and good torps. You are much more likely to carry a battle with a BB because it just blaps harder. I like it much more than the RTS, also because many times it would not do what I wanted. The interface was buggy as hell. I started playing CV "for real" when I got the Ark Royal. As I stated here on forum I'd go get it... as it has Swordfish planes. And they told me I needed to GitGud else I'd really suck, so... then found out nobody in the clan was playing them much. And well yeah, knowing WG they'd put them in CB as well... so... I knew what I had to do... grinded them ASAP. I just grinded the Manfred Von Richthofen... took me less than 2 weeks... (got Parseval 16-10, 54% WR in that...). All CVs are broken AF, I have seen those that have 30% WR though... well... find one of those and then find their WR in other ships... I guess you can think of what that will be like. Your WR is not surprising though.I guess with 20.000 games you know the game pretty well and you can sort of predict what will happen. That means if they give you a "tool" that is "exploitable" (AKA broken AF) you will be able to use it. Because you will have OTHER KNOWLEDGE. Like, where will I find that BB, what is he gonna do next, which way wil the lemmingtrain run, where can I find a safe spot to harvest them from... Also, usually it is not just the CV that is broken AF (they are) but it is also the player. If they have 70% stats in other ships, they'll sure be OP-AF in a CV. If you check mine you will see that I am "just above average" in ships that I like to play. Some ships are just not my cup of tea (yes Donskoi I am looking at YOU). I like slow, fat BBs and small cruisers-that-smoke, and I play mostly T6-7-8. Still grinding and totally potato in some of the "new" ships. Some I'll never learn either... Spotting stuff can make a huge difference to win-or-lose, well, unless your team is potato... I think you having 20K games would also mean you know where spotting is important. And yeah you are right, the thing is, having fun is more important than stats. Stuff like "PR" depends heavily on damage and kills, too. I do not make many kills (usually my divvies finish them off). Their shells are much faster than my planes. Don't tell WG or they will produce a CV that has faster planes... I usually play with buddies. No matter if we win or lose (which can be hilarious), we still have fun. And we even do challenges... like... try to get that DD with torps... or AP-bombs... or "can you get that BB to show broadside so I can blap him" or "spot the red CV" ... oh troll... trololol... yes we are baaaaaadddies PS if you wanna see something really filthy, check my WR in Shokaku... on 3-div...

The weird thing is we have some DDs that are much more able to shoot down planes than those AA ships. I dunno if WG is appeasing CV players. They sent out those DDs, and also they came up with some CVs hardly able to hit DDs. But well, those CVs are apparently supposed to screw over cruisers. Kinda weird. While WG themselves say CV should attack large ships. IMO that's not the lolibotes.
-
Excellent in some, rather crud in others. Like the other ships. Sometimes it clicks and sometimes not... (yes Donskoi I am looking at you). As far as I know there are some rewards for testing, and that's it. Any XP or credits are just for administrative purposes and such. I doubt if they are done testing anytime soon.

1... well maybe I need to install "speed rudder" on my BB then 2. Yeah that's the point. Once they do not need that speed, they'll never come up. Vision, who needs vision... You go to a place where you can torp plenty, dive, and presto. Yeah does. But like it is now, even CVs are more "risky" to play and actually get damage. Planes can get shot down, damage mitigated by belts and whatever RNGesus decides the ammo lands on. You still need time to fly to target and the "actual" CV needs to be kept safe. Note: I'm not saying CVs are fine...
-
Well we had Ovechkin that could do Russian or US ships, why not these ones? WG will not sell any to somebody who is not researching that nation, for instance. Just make them fit "ANY NATION".
-
Well the biggest point is, with a CV you can shoot down the planes and dodge (OK... just dodge...). What can you do against a sub that just shoots from range, he can do it endlessly. The risk is even less than a CV. Last few 100m the homing doesn't work anymore. Also you have to hit same area twice. AKAone lock-on = fart in general direction, twice = homing. And you have to keep it active. I think you can already do divving. I think they'll be best at torping slow BBs and islandhuggers that are parked. Anything fast, agile or having speedboost is pretty safe.

They will not listen to him either Only money talks. The fact that it is as such, is a sign that all is not well. There's two factors, to keep it simple: 1. guided torpedoes - what defence is there? 2. if subs NEVER EVER have to surface... why would they ever? IMO they should only be able to torpedo surface ships when they are at the surface themselves. That is, at periscope depth (at least!) or at surface. And then the time before they become invulnerable for surface fire should be such that the surface ship has a chance to retaliate. Well you are not wrong but the "issue" is different. RADAR is the word, whet will they do with that. More armour and such will be fixed easily, give them stronger torps. Also they have bigger and more guns, so make the subs tougher.
-
That looks more like an insult to gravity to me. Einstein objects.
-
Well, if you are in a cruiser and have 4 ships shooting at you, you are 99% dead. The chance that the sub will get you are minimal - the other ships will kill you long before he has any chance. You could also say that the sub that tries is a N00b. Or maybe he could not find a better target.
-
THIS. You should need to be at least in persicope position to hit surface vessels @YabbaCoe. Else there is no way to even detect them, would be worse than CV... At least when you see planes you can see your death coming & pray to RNGesus.
-
Exactly. The mechanic of "homing torps" is funny, but at T6, people are kinda unaware. At T10 they'll be better.. besides, the amount of camping there "is asking for it"... 4 torpedoes, shot without risk, from > 20m down, sinking a cruiser or BB is a no-no, well IMO. However that is balance, maybe it should need 10 torps, or maybe just that, well... how about HOMING TORPS DO LESS DAMAGE than the normal torps upto T10, or something (are you listening @YabbaCoe). It will give them use and adjusting to the mechanics, but it makes it less detrimental. I think torpedoing surface ships should be done from surface, at least up to T8. There would be NO NEED FOR HOMING TORPS except for other subs. Same as I think they should have balanced ships, higher tier = more AP damage (as they have now), lower tier = does more fire damage (so, the reverse what they have now). uptiering would be much better that way. Ah well. But they can balance homing torps as well. The range where they lose their homing, for example. Maybe they can be SLOWER than normal torps. Do only half damage? Very low flooding chance? I'm sure we can think of something there. But the mechanic works. They used the feedback last time. Subs can now be hit upto 10m deep, no more 5.9-6.1m cheese. Well done @YabbaCoe must be said. WG listened there. They have sent that cheese to the scrapyard, glad to be rid of it. However, you can only SEE if you can hit them if you taget them. So, slowly you turn your BB guns, and then you find out you #@#%@@# can't shoot them. And since a CV doesn't AIM he can't know if he can hit them AT ALL. This was better last time, also they dive a bit quick... how are we supposed to torpedo them? After all surface ships and CVs do not have homing torps... And I still think it is troll that subs never have to surface. That is like having a DD with "forever smoke". Subs should, at some point, have to surface. Even if they just can't do anything when X runs out, it is still better than a DD... ..because if that DD runs out of smoke, he can;t just go "oh well I cannot do anything for a while", he is just screwed.
-
I think they'll be at christmas. Have you tried it? I think it is fun, except some of the mechanics need to be better. Then, there is balancing - how much damage does "bomb A" do to "ship B".
-
Well this is much better than the first test... a few things: MAIN: why do they need homing torps anyway? Just for the other subs, yes but for surface ships it is ridiculous. There should be a sort of "degaussing" thing, as a defence, if they insist. AND: - subs can't be rocketed/torped by CV, this is worthless. They can't be detected either, can't be seen how deep they are... last iteration was better in that regard. - subs WILL HAVE TO need to surface else we get the same thing again. Now they can just STAY UNDER indefinitely. Even the T10 should need "snorkel time". This is also a way to balance stuff WG, do not throw it away. If subs are too OP you can jsut make them "parttime DDs". ALSO THEY NEED A DECKGUN and AA. Even if the AA is just to be able to shoot down spotter planes. Because that's what a CV will do, drop spotter planes on cap, make sub visible. BOOM. But generally... yes this is quite okidoki. Fix some leftovers, and start balancing the numbers/damage.
-
IMO there is no harm since it is about OP ships. Well yes, depending if your adversaries are anything capable. Usually I am the lucky one getting all the taters, means the reds avoid most of my shots in NC. When Iowa derps, yes it derps. But even then, the reds might avoid and run straight into them... I have same sort of thing with T8 Chapayev, only 10x worse. Because T9 Donskoi...
-
The problem is more like, at distance they have about half an hour to change speed and direction. Incoming! ....denied. If you close in it's not THAT good, you take pens from a lot - T8 gets usually lots of T9 "supercruisers" on the reds. Spreadsheet says no... FWIW the Iowa is a whole lot better IMO.
-
One, also small, fix would clear up a lot of mess. Have the CV spot only in a small area for other ships. Like in cyclones: only ships ~8km (range can be balanced) or so will be able to see& shoot, rest gets minimap. Then they can also revert this crap about DDs not being spotted unless you are right on top of them. I mean, c'mon. It is ridiculous. A CV can still spot a DD, but why would he. Obviously the only thing that will happen is it will cost him planes. Somebody else will have to do the shooting. Yes they will, but WTF.
-
Well I regularly sink one, dunno why others don't do it. Simple fact, it is one of the most influential ships, better sink the CV than any BB or cruiser. And they;re not harder to sink than a DD, now. If you get uptiered in your CV, say you have a T8 and you get mostly T10.... ... well then I look at what ships are nice snacks and sometimes yes it is the other CV
-
This is true. If they don;t like the surface ships, it will end pretty soon so they'll need to make an effort to balance it. I think they do. Well, at least a better effort than with the CV Reeework. here's the thing though. BELIEVE what you want, belief is not necessarily true. However WG doesn't give a damn about GOOD players, they'd rather have PAY-TO-WIN potatoes. And you know it's true. No belief.
-
Basically, subs are too invulnerable - they can just dive a few meters to avoid torps from surface-ships. Also there is no clear indication where to shoot them, while they DO get that homing-stuff on surface ships. I'd say try it without the homing on surface ships. I can see it is needed else the subs cannot damage each other when underwater. However against the surface ships it seems kinda OVERPOWERED. AND ONCE AGAIN there is no reason for them to ever surface. This, is BAD.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

I saw @lup3s and his Scrubby mates yesterday, well that ended pretty quickly. My teammates let their Gearing (which I spotted 3x) just hobble through, and as it was an open map their Bismarck blapped me very quickly. -
It did in all ships, but it seems to have fixed itself.
